Just the Helper Around the House I Needed

At this point, I have worked with many different robot vacuum cleaners, with mixed results. I can safely say that the Samsung Jet Bot AI+ Robot Vacuum with Object Recognition has the best features I have encountered on any robot vacuum all rolled into one exceptionally stylish package. First off, the aesthetics. In a sea of giant hockey puck shaped vacuum robots, it is refreshing to see something different. This makes the Samsung Jet Bot stand out in a good way. It tankish looks are part of what give it the ability to be such a great vacuum. Now, first my favorite feature: self emptying dustbin. This is a gamechanger for me. With my previous vacuums, my kids would forget to empty them (as it is one of their chores), and this always ended up being a problem. With the self emptying feature, not only is the vacuum always ready to go, but dust doesn't get everywhere, as it does when my children choose to empty the bin in the house. I can't tell you how wonderful this is to me. Now, with the convenience of self-emptying, as well as scheduling, I am able to get so much done in a day, despite a new dog and baby. That said, be sure to watch you dog around this vacuum for awhile. Touch it with your dog around, so the dog doesn't think it is a threat and attack it when you are away from home. The mapping and object avoidance work great. I also love that they really got the most out of all of the technology in this vacuum, as you can also use it to assist in your home security. The vacuum can serve as a motion detector, or a remote video camera. To me, innovation like this is so important.

The Jet Bot AI+ basically hits the ground running. What impressed me is its easy enough to use out of the box without even connecting it to an app. You basically plug it in, let it charge and then hit the play button. It did take some time to map out our house as it wandered back and forth exploring but its done well navigating and like others, it knows enough not to fall down the steps. Once its cleaning, it transitions well from hardwood, to tile, to carpet. What I really like about the vacuum is how vocal it is. It truly is a robot telling you it found an obstacle it wants to go around, that its stuck, that its emptying into the bin, etc... What my wife did not like about the vacuum and the reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is she doesn't feel that it reaches corners as well as others that have a corner rotating brush and then she also said that sometimes it just refuses to go over a rug. Overall though we think the Vacuum does a great job of cleaning any of our three surface types and it has plenty of battery life to get the job done in about an hours time. We are pleased with this Vacuum that fits right in with our home of Samsung products.

If your entire house is hardwood/tile

If you've ever dealt with the nightmare of your robot vac rolling right through a pet accident, then you'll REALLY love the obstacle avoidance feature in this Samsun Jet Bot AI+. The security camera feature is novel, but you could build your own security camera robot for less money so definitely don't purchase this for that feature alone. Those with tile or hardwood flooring throughout their home will appreciate the soft rollers that won't scratch up your floors. The unfortunate trade-off is that this robot will do a subpar job on carpet. HEPA filtration is another big selling point, especially for those with allergies. I haven't had to purchase replacement bags/filters yet and don't see the bags for this model available yet, the pricing should be comparable to older models. Keep in mind that you'll probably need to replace the brush and filters every few months to keep it running in top shape. The Jet Bot's chunky chassis doesn't let it go under furniture, this is probably why it doesn't get stuck as much as other models <ehem Roomba> that tend to get tangled in cords or stuffed dog toy remnants. Overall this is a prime purchase if you don't have a ton of carpet in your home. If your home is primarily carpet, then you'll want to find a vac that cleans better. However, if you're tired of vacuum brushes scratching up your beautiful hardwood floors-- the Samsung Jet Bot AI+ is the answer to your prayers.

We have had dogs for years, so keeping up with them and their messes takes up a lot of the cleaning time. Well we made things harder for ourselves by bringing 2 more pets into the house. 2 awesome cats. So of course this adds to the overall mess with its own challenges. So any help is more than welcome. And this does just that. In the box you get the AI+ Vacuum, cleaning station, power cord, user manual, 2 dust bag units, one already installed with an extra, 2 motor filters, again one installed with an extra, and a roll of boundary markers. So it comes with everything you will need for quite awhile of cleaning. Everything is very well boxed up and protected. The initial set up is fairly easy. Starting with the initial charge, setting up the app, and getting everything going takes about an hour or so. Depends on your initial battery level. But overall very easy to get up and running. The app is great with a lot of settings and parameters so that you can fully customize your cleaning experience. Scheduling, monitoring, setting zones and boundaries and a lot more. I really like the feature where you can direct the vacuum to a specific spot. So if there is an area (like a walkway) that needs more attention you can direct it there rather than having to run the whole cleaning route again. Thankfully except fore some rare occasions our pets are fully trained. The dogs (generally) do their business outside, and our cats are very well trained. But no matter how trained they are they will always leave pet hair all over. And this is where the Jetbot comes in very handy for us. We also have a deep cleaning carpet cleaner, but for that to work correctly the floors have to be vacuumed first. And now with this automatically doing it it saves a lot of time. And the Jetbot has extractors that grind up hair which keeps the brush tangle free. But of course this does a lot more than just pick up pet hair, it keeps our hardwood floors vacuumed as well. The only thing I wish this did a bit better was the edges and corners of the floors. Im not sure how this would be done, maybe stronger suction at the corners? But we also have a handheld vacuum with an extension that gets these hard to reach spots which doesnt take too long. Maintaining the vacuum is pretty easy as well, with several automatic features. It automatically dumps the bin when full which is so convenient. Swapping filters, cleaning the wheel, and cleaning the brush is easy since you can easily detach the brush to get anything stuck out. And the app even has notifications for maintenance so you wont forget. Overall maintaining it only takes maybe 15 minutes, and is well worth it so it can keep cleaning as well as day one. In summary the Jetbot AI+ makes cleaning and keeping up with our animals so much easier. Having the carpets ready for a deep clean with our carpet cleaner makes that back breaking chore much less painful. And the fact that it can clean up our other floor types makes keeping all our floors clean one less thing we need to worry about.

    High End..... Frustration

The Samsung Jet Bot AI+ robot vacuum is one of the new high-end robot vacuums on the market. Samsung clearly designed it to appeal to the tech-savvy crowd with its clean/sleek design and included all the technology bells and whistles like LIDAR and the self emptying vacuum system that seems to be all the rage these days. In the end though, it was all just a bit of puffery as the vacuum really didn't clean that well and controlling it via the SmartThings app was frustrating. First, set up and control is done via the SmartThings app and not a separate Samsung Jet Bot app. That was all fine and dandy. Adding a new robot vacuum and setting up the Jet Bot was relatively smooth and painless. You simply add a new device and select the Jet Bot series robot icon. The app walks you though a simple set up process. Easy peezy. The app gives you all the common controls you expect plus a few more advanced controls like self-calibration and wall cleaning distance parameters. Once the initial floorpan has been mapped, using the onboard LIDAR scanner (the whole process may take quite some time as the battery doesn't last long), you gain additional control on how to clean your home, eg. via by room, around specific furniture (more on this) or by specific spots. I use by specific "room" for my regular cleanings. One major issue I have with the floorpan creation is that the robot/app create the "rooms" for you but are very inaccurate. You have the option to manipulate the "rooms" by either combining rooms or dissecting rooms. It makes you rework the map that it just created, and these "helpful" functions are extremely finicky and didn't work most of the time for me. It kept telling me that I couldn't dissect a room because it was too small, over and over. I gave up trying to fix my floorpan at that point. So now, my home is filled with "rooms" that are very inaccurate. It would have been so much easier for the app to allow the user to draw the rooms over the supplied intial floorpan. There, it's fixed. The option to run the unit via "around furniture" was confusing. The initial scan and built-in AI calculate what furniture was where in my space. I can't figure out why this was a feature as it wasn't accurate nor helpful in any way for me. I guess you can select this function if you want to only clean around specific furniture like a high chair, perhaps. Good luck with that being accurate. Once set up and the floorpan was created, I set to robot off to clean. The unit is very spritely and nimble compared to my old robot vacuum by a different manufacturer. It seems to really use the LIDAR scanner effectively as it rarely bumped into my furniture or walls. I was pleasantly surprised about that. It has sensors on the front and sides and underneath that help it see the world around it. It even has a camera that can detect and recognize objects in front of it using the built-in AI. This is probably helpful if you have a dog and don't want the robot to drag droppings around the home. I don't have a pet and sadly, the camera was not as accurate as I had hoped. A few times It saw my rugs and even the brown flooring as dog droppings. The unit also turned up the corner of my rugs all the time and then said they were dish towels obstructing the path. As a result, it didn't clean significant potions of my floor because if its misidentifications. Talk about frustrating. Performance was mediocre at best. The battery doesn't last very long and it had to return to the base for recharging several times before finishing my 1000 square foot apartment. I did appreciate the self emptying system which I have not had in the past, even though it was very loud. One thing to note is that I read online that's it's been very hard to find replacement bags for the system. Hopefully that will change soon. The brush roller is not bristled like a typical brush. ..it more like a softer scouring pad. This seems like it would be fine with hard floors but the vast majority of my apartment is carpeted. The vacuum did leave light carpet fluff impressions after each pass but I seriously doubt deep cleaning of the carpet had taken place. The vacuum suction seems just so so and not all that powerful. I would be curious to see if it left quite a bit of debris embedded. One other thing to note about its performance is that it seemed confused many times and would try to clean the same space for up to 10 minutes or so...well that's the longest I waited before picking up the vacuum and moving it. Im not sure but maybe software updates can fix instances like that. I certainly hope so. Overall, I was not impressed with this vacuum even though it has high-end technology built in and has one of the highest price points. I was expecting some serious cleaning and built-in smarts but was disappointed by both. If you have kids/pets and leave a lot of things on the floor during cleaning, this vacuum may be helpful. Also, I feel its best for homes with hard floors and NOT carpets as the cleaning power seems very lack luster. I have neither of those and have come to realize that this is not the vacuum for me.

      Hello SpezalED,

We appreciate you taking the time to leave us a review on your Jet Bot AI+. You made an excellent choice, and we are pleased to hear how happy you are!

Please know that we value your observation, and we will continue working on improving the quality of the products and services we offer.

The vacuum was designed to run for at least 90 mins before charging (based on wooden flooring).

If the Jet Bot is having some difficulty finding the "room." Please see the link for more details on the possible fix.

The Jet Bot cannot find a room on page 41
      https://downloadcenter.samsung.com/content/PM/202112/20211220170649750/EN/1_VR9500_EN_00846B-00_AA.pdf

The Jet Bot cannot pass over a carpet with fiber longer than 2 cm.
When the Jet Bot cleans a carpet with short fiber and bright color, it may recognize the carpet as a floor, and then the Intelligent Power Control function may not work.

You can select the suction power from Max, Smart, or Normal. When the Jet Bot is in "Smart" suction power, the Corner Clean or the Intelligent Power Control Clean work. If suction power decreases continuously or the Jet Bot overheats, clean the Fine dust Filter.

It all stared very well. The object recognition is terrible. It kept bumping into objects it should recognize butbit didn't. Sad to say it didnt recognize my puppies warer bowl and it bumped it untill there was a puddlenon the floor and then it vacuumed it up. So know it doesn't work. Samsung customer care was no help.
