Added another stick of 8gb ram right out the box and used it both for heavy gaming and school while traveling for a year. It served well as my away from home gaming rig and I was impressed by the performance it was able to push out given the hardware and price point. Battery life is poor when gaming or undergoing demanding tasks, however with brightness turned down and watching something like youtube I was able to get a few good hours out of it. I must admit it has spent majority of its life attached to the charger. Despite this, it has always been fast, responsive and to this day, 2 years later, I still use it as my main laptop for travel or when I want to work away from my desk. I am very pleased with this little power house and am still shocked that I was able to pick up such a capable machine for under $500. 8.5/10, would reccomend!

Awesome laptop. Upgraded the Ram to 32gb and it’s ridiculously fast. Wish there was a slot for another m.2 but for a budget friendly intro gaming laptop, you can’t beat it. I loved it so much I recommended my coworker get one and she loves it as well. Do yourself a favor though and buy a 16x2 set of ram to go in it. Changing it out is super easy.

I needed an upgrade from Inspiron 7559 which I play games very lightly and needed for work/home. Desktop/all in one are out of the option due to the space, and recently my old laptop became slow and shows age. With great deal and trade in I got this really good price and enjoying every bit. It is not built for lightweight but so much lighter than my old one. And It is more than capable of performing well for my taste of games, with good(not huge though) upgrade of GPU. It is with GTX1650 which is lowest quality end of 1600s, a previous model of 3000s but I am comparing this with my old 960m or 780. I see no reason not to like it. I never use this battery only so that downside is not for me. Just too fit for me. Loving it.

    64GB RAM upgrade for < $800 total (w/ computer)

Bought for < $500 (Black Friday week sale) then immediately ran to micro center and bought 2x32GB DDR4-3200 ram sticks (64GB total — confirmed working!), both open box. Although it’s a back-up to my i9 MacBook Pro, this now has double the Ram and 35% faster benchmark scores than my 2020 Mac…all for under $800. Even though it’s only an i5, the H-series are super fast, and since this is a backup that will be plugged into monitors 95% of the time anyways, the relatively poorer emergency efficiency compared to the U-series are moot for my needs. This is hands down the best bang for the buck I’ve seen all year just by virtue of being able to swap RAM (no on-board memory BS) all the way to 64GB. Yes, DDR5 is new and faster, but for my needs, more RAM < faster RAM. Oh, and seriously, do not trust the HP reps commenting on Best Buy’s site. Run the the following in the terminal yourself “C:\WINDOWS\system32> wmic memphysical get MaxCapacity” and you’ll get 67108864 max RAM. Major downsides: No thunderbolt port and max 250nits brightness.

Great budget gaming Laptop. I swapped the 8gb ram for 32gb and swapped the 512gb SSD for 2tb. I picked it up on Sale for $450. The few complaints i have, the battery only last 30 minutes gaming and need to keep it plugged in 100% of the time. 2nd there are 2 spots for SSD but only plug and play on the one.

Bought this for my husband at a great price (Open Box - Excellent condition) and its been two years and still running. He's more of a console player but will play on his laptop with PC-Only games so its perfect for his casual play style.

It's decent. First thing I did was open it up, and upgraded the Ram. Any DDR4 3200 Laptop Ram will work. While having it opened, I noticed its has a Gen 4 m.2 SSD which was nice to see, but that was unfortunately the only thing nice. The battery could have been bigger, better designed heatsink design because the fans are running at full speed when light gaming. Also the m.2 has a little thermal pad and which is not enough. I suggest getting a copper m.2 laptop heatsink. I'll end on a good note the GTX 1650 is the DDR6 Model, not the DDR5 Model as stated. Besides the fans running at full speed, I'd still suggest getting it. I was a bit impressed with the performance!

Great PC for the price I paid. Managed to get it under $500 for Black Friday. I did manage to swap in a larger set of memory sticks a day after purchase, so I cannot comment on the base set up. It plays games quite well, including Xbox game pass and steam. Battery life is about an hour while gaming on high brightness and max settings. I do use the battery saver and can get about 2-3 hours of work for everything outside of gaming. Since I managed to customize my own power settings, I have no noticed any lag while operating under battery saver. I do not recommend battery saver for gaming since the resolution can be an issue. Would buy this again.

Have used for a few days but so far, it's had top-notch performance. Multiple tabs open, playing Spotify, as well as having games downloading in the background does not slow down. Battery lasts me at most 2 hours but that's apparently to be expected with a gaming laptop. The fan is a bit noisy when playing games, but it doesn't bother me. The keyboard is quiet and feels nice to type on. I like that it has illuminated keys. It is somewhat of a fingerprint magnet but can clean it. All in all, for the early Black Friday Deal, it's totally worth 5 stars. I hooked it up to a monitor and now I can use it as a mobile desktop too. Happy with my purchase!

I use this for gaming and it has been the BEST purchase I have ever made. My old laptop couldn’t keep up with my downloads but this has been more then capable. I play the sims 4 and have all the expansion and stuff packs downloaded and still have more then enough space. It’s fast, everything is in high quality HD, it’s big screen is perfect for game playing. If your on the fence about it, just BUY IT!!! I was the same as you, scrolling through all the reviews wondering if this purchase was worth it. It really is!!

    Better Than Expected

After watching and reading online reviews this laptop was better than expected. The buid and design feel very sleek and modern. The screen - while not super high end - is plenty bright and colorful for indoor use. Games like fortnite run fine on high quality settings (about 60fps) or you can run them on medium to low settings to get more frames. It's also easier to add more ram for better performance as others have mentioned but I haven't found that necessary yet. I plan on using this laptop for some video editing in addition to gaming. While I wouldn't recommend this for full time professional creative work I think it is perfect for somone on a budget looking to get into making videos for youtube etc. 1650 graphics card is fine for video editing as long as you arent trying to make the next pixar movie. Overall I think this is perfect for casual gamers who plan on also using the laptop for school, work, light creative work etc. It has the power of an entry level gaming laptop but the design makes it feel appropriate for any use.

I recently acquired the HP Victus 15.6" Gaming Laptop, and it has quickly become my go-to for both work and play. The combination of Intel Core i5-12450H, 8GB memory, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650, and a spacious 512GB SSD in the sleek Mica Silver design makes this laptop a true winner.

Great First Gaming Laptop. Better Than People Thin

This is my first gaming level laptop and it's a step up from my previous one in terms of SSD vs HDD (storage is still smaller than my 1 tb laptop though), the refresh rate being 144hz, the backlit keyboard (since I didn't have one), and definitely the USB-C port for the devices including my phone that has one. The speakers are a little quieter than I hoped for (even compared to my previous laptop) but they sound really clear. I use it mostly for schoolwork, which is blows right through. PS 2 emulation works great on it with a solid 60FPS. Fans can get a little loud but it's manageable. Feels lighter than my old laptop and the materials feel less plastic- like. I lost my touch screen and disk drive, neither of which I used that often anyway, but kept the SD card reader which is a plus for a gaming laptop. Battery life is pretty great so far but my games aren't that internsive and I do a lot of school work on it so I'm probably not pushing the battery that hard. Satisfied with the purchase.

Used this laptop for school. I love it, it works amazing the only sucky thing is that the battery is horrible so whenever you use it, it mainly has to be plugged in. I’d say you can use it for 2 hours maybe without plugging in before it dies.

Used it for 2 years and only had it shutdown for 2 hours a week. It performed perfect, never gotten high temperatures even when I had 2 games opened on the background. I would also recommend this pc for people who are looking for a reliable and affordable pc, it is made with good quality materials and you won’t have any problem with the parts.

Alright, I’ve had this laptop for almost a year so I’ll tell you how it is. It’s a pretty good gaming laptop considering its price it can run a lot of games very smoothly I overall do enjoy it, it has so cons such as the battery life being very poor and not being able to run at full capacity if charger is not connected but that can be fixed with a upgrade and Plugging the charger and playing your game. Besides that I really do love this laptop. It includes a one year warranty and has a useful light up keyboard. I suggest you get this.

    Robust Performance Meets Modern Aesthetics

I recently got my hands on the HP Victus 15.6" Gaming Laptop from Best Buy, and I must say, it's an intriguing blend of power and elegance. The Intel Core i5-12450H ensures a smooth gaming experience while the 8GB RAM is capable enough for multitasking. With a 512GB SSD, not only do games load faster, but file transfers are a breeze too. The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 graphics card does a good job, rendering graphics smoothly with decent frame rates in most modern games at medium settings. The design is sleek with a Mica Silver finish that adds a touch of modern aesthetics. It's not just about looks; the laptop has a sturdy build which suggests it can handle daily wear and tear. Now, onto the display - the 15.6" screen is sufficiently bright and vibrant, providing a good level of immersion when gaming or watching movies. The keyboard is comfortable with a decent travel distance for the keys, which is great for both gaming and typing. The trackpad is responsive and supports multi-finger gestures, enhancing the overall user experience. While the laptop performs well in most aspects, it's not without its caveats. The 8GB RAM might feel limiting for more intensive multitasking or higher-end gaming. Also, the battery life could have been better. During continuous gaming, I found myself reaching for the charger sooner than I'd like. In terms of connectivity, it comes with ample ports including USBs, HDMI, and an Ethernet port, which is a plus for gamers and professionals alike. The laptop also stays relatively cool under load, which is commendable. In summary, the HP Victus 15.6" Gaming Laptop is a solid choice for anyone looking to game on a budget without compromising too much on performance or aesthetics. While it might not satisfy hardcore gamers, it's perfect for casual gaming and professional use. Note: I've attached a photo showcasing the sleek design of the laptop.
