Got this model HC501 (max, 1000 sq ft) and HC452 (smaller one, 500 sq ft) directly from shark. Here is what I think... Good in both... - Clear LCD display - Looks good - Remote works great when pointed properly. Need to get used to round remote. - Fan mode and air filter features are excellent - Display can be dimmed or turned off Issues in max model: I found 2 issues with max version compared to smaller one. 1. Could not control fan speed when set in heater mode. (HC452/small version can run fan at max speed in heat mode, not in max model) 2. Looks like there is issue with temperature monitor. It did not increase more than 68 degree even after running for 1 hour. (HC452/small version heats the room with high fan speed in less than 10 minutes and reach required temp in display) Not sure if above issues are only with my unit. CS told me fan runs in fixed speed only in heat mode in this model. Returning the unit, keeping the smaller one. Common issue in both models: 1. There is very mild creaking noise when put in oscillation in both models at the bottom of the unit, which can be heard when using it during night time in heater mode and set temperature is reached (i.e. fan stops and it only oscillates). This might bother sensitive sleepers. When fan is running noise from oscillation will be masked. 2. When required temperature is hit or when using remote, there is beep noise. Now way to stop this beep noise. It might bother sleep for someone. These issues are not acceptable for a product that cost this much. In my opinion, it is not worth 450 (without app / WIFI features + above issues).

It’s a beautiful unit, and very modern. The remote makes it convenient to utilize the settings (fan, heat, air purifier). I still haven’t figured out all of its features, but I’m loving what I’m using so far. My only issue is when the heater oscillates, it makes a clicking noise, as if it needs oil. I use it in a large room and like the feature, but the noise can be a bit annoying especially with something this sophisticated. For the price though, it was worth it.

I have been using the puifier for air and heat. I know one day i was cutting up onions and frying some bacon and when i turned it on the air was lowest i had seen it. Usually 96 or 97% when i turn on. This time was 63%. I didnt time but i think took about 15 minutes to clean it out. Could be wrong on that. My house is stick built house and 1200sf. I set the heater at 73 and i havent seen it any higher than 70.

There are plenty of brands to choose from when it comes to air purifiers but being an avid lover of Shark products, I knew this would be the one for me. We wanted to add a fan to but also update our air purifier in the kitchen. Not only did I get both, but a heater thrown in as well. I will say it actually does do all very well, too. I love that it purifies the air no matter the mode you're in. The actual "purified air" mode offers the most optimal cleaning but it frees up the spot we had for our fan in the summer and will offer warmth in the colder months, helping our HVAC. This makes it super useful year round. The fact it has a setting to match the heat to the temperature in the room is quite a step above, too. All this and it's still a considerably compact size. The most helpful feature is its "auto" mode. My wife was cooking with oil and it was interesting how the air quality was instantly effected throughout the process. We first had it on the fan mode, so we changed it to "Auto" and watched as it automatically raised the speed to counteract the oil in the air. The percentage was changing with respect to how strong/weak the smell was, as well as, during moments like when she was flipping the food and the oil flared up. We open our back door and it actually detects the air from outside causing the quality to drop. Usually the house smells like oil for the next day (even with the former purifier) but with this we didn't have to deal with the smell at all after cooking as the air was clean soon after. Once it reached 100% it automatically dropped the lowest speed. I love how hands off this mode is. While it always shows the percentage of the overall air quality, I like that you can get a semi-detailed breakdown by cycling the info button. It tracks 3 particle matter groups (PM 1, PM 2.5, PM 10) and gives the percentage level detected for each one. You can use these readings to help pinpoint your air quality issues and address them. Overall the noise level for the machine is pretty low. The highest settings are very respectable and the lowest are so whisper quiet, it's hard to tell if it's even on. The fan is the loudest of course but the heater is very quiet even on the highest setting. While it seems like it's only blowing lightly, it projects a pretty strong, consistent heat. It has a few other nice touches. The vent has a damper to direct the flow vertically. The machine is controlled by a detachable remote that also magnetically secures and sits flush in a nest on top of the machine. The info button provides some other helpful information like how much longer the filter has left, I just hope not needing to change it for 6-12 months is accurate. The only major thing that bothers me is there are no handles or gripping points for picking up and carrying the machine. It's not terribly heavy but it's not light either. I'm very surprised there isn't at least a cutout or something somewhere to get your fingers into. The plastic housing is smooth and a tad slippery, so it does increase the risk of dropping and damaging the unit. A minor issue I also have was it doesn't oscillate as much as I would like. It only covers a 45 degree span. Able to warm large and small areas well, while purifying air

works as advertised. easy to use, right out of the box. the heat function will raise the temp a couple of degrees, but will not keep the entire room warm in the middle of winter. does clean air wonderfully. light weight, so easily moved around.

I have the two smaller version and loved them so I purchased this one. So far it works wonderful. I plan on buying another one when it goes back on sale again. Our breathing had improved tremendously.

Great product that performs above expectations. Having a sensor showing the quality of the air is epic. Purifiers air quickly. Very useful especially during recent times with air quality issues from Canadian fires.

Does it's job. Quiet and efficient as purchased. My only complaint is that the remote has to be facing the front of the device for it to work.
