I’m going to start by saying that I was initially put off by the setup process when I read the instructions but I am going to tell you that it was pretty much a plug and play experience. I connected the printer to my router with an Ethernet cable as suggested and once plugged, the printer pretty much automatically set itself up. It established a connection and was ready to go. The ink cartridge is pre installed on this printer, so the only thing you need to do to get printing is put in a ream of paper. The paper tray holds 300 sheets of paper. There is an app that you can download to your windows or Mac OS machine for templates, driver updates and other miscellaneous tasks. I don’t think there is an app for mobile devices for this printer. I thought I was only going to be able to print from my laptop because it suggests you download the the software for yoir computer but wireless printing from my smartphone and tablet also works flawlessly with this printer. This printer only prints in black and white, so keep that in mind! But the prints are crisp and the ink is deep black. The ink cartridge looks easy to replace, the printer pops open and it looks like you can just pull out the ink cartridge. I didn’t try since it was already ready to go for me, so I’ll cross that bridge when I reach it. This printer only comes with a power cable, so you’ll also have to provide a Ethernet or USB cable to get it set up. Printing with this machine is super fast and convenient. I think it’ll be perfect for those of you with small businesses or offices that need to print paperwork reliably. My girl is a teacher, so this will be perfect for her to print assignments and class paperwork. All in all, I’m very happy with this printer, it was super easy to set up and it prints really fast.

***INITIAL SETUP:*** You have two options: wired, or wired. You can either use this printer with a (not-included) USB A to B connector, or you can use it within a wired network (provided your network admin allows automatic setup of printers with their own IP). Plugging this in at work initially resulted in an IP appearing on the tiny screen, but printing failed somewhere along the network. USB-only it then became. If it hadn’t been for Windows 11 finding and recommending the HP Smart App, actually printing would have been difficult in this “plug & play” world we’re used to. Plugging it in to my PC via USB did nothing at first, and the tiny screen is terrible for navigating through. You only get “OK”, “<”, and “>”, alongside a back arrow. During the brief amount of time I had it connected to our network at work, I was able to type the displayed IP into a browser and find some setup options: these required a “PIN”, printed on a sticker inside the print cartridge area. It was not where the web page suggested. I did eventually find it though, and it led me to something puzzling. ***OPTIONS:*** There appears to be an option to set up “AirPrint” for using this with Apple devices, though the documentation (and the HP Smart app) say wireless connectivity is not supported on the 4001n - yet “AirPrint” is a wireless connection technology. Hmm… Other than that, there really are few things for the average user to configure. There is no email forwarding, no bluetooth printing, no WiFi Printing. The Smart App does give you access to business/IT security type settings, like “Redirection to HTTPS”. Neither I nor my organization will care about these. ***BUILD QUALITY:*** The printer is constructed almost exclusively from thin, rigid, loosely assembled plastic. If you tap your finger on it, the panels will clank against themselves. The screen appears to be quality, but it is so small and basic, you won’t get that impression. It’s backlit when the device isn’t sleeping, which sometimes it takes a minute to wake up from. ***PRINT QUALITY:*** The first print, after setting up HP Smart, and resetting the network settings, and unplugging the printer to let it restart - was small in size for some reason. The second print, straight from Docs, was blocky and pixelated. Third time was the charm for some reason, as text came out clear. I guess it needed a warmup. ***WHO IS THIS FOR?:*** I think this printer would be perfect for the home or small office user who only needs greyscale and wants “ink” that won’t run dry like with a typical Multi Function Printer. You should plan on printing many pages in order for this to work out for you. If the cartridge is a _full size_ HP 148A, you can get about 2900 prints out of it. I don’t know if they shipped it with a “full fat” cartridge, but it looks normal. ***WHO ISN’T THIS FOR?:*** Anybody who occasionally needs color, anybody who wants a scanner as well, anybody who wants wireless or email-forwarded printing. ***CONCLUSION:*** I wouldn’t personally buy this printer. I’m not impressed with the setup process; it’s outdated and too basic, non-user friendly apart from USB use, which most will likely avoid when buying a printer like this: it’s meant for a network. The print quality is acceptable, though nothing to write home about, being that this is a 600 dpi printer. Looking closely will reveal dots. It may look better with custom printer settings (adjusting “quality”), but then you rapidly lose pages per cartridge.

Awesome SOHO Grade Fast Laser Printer - SMALL !

First Impressions - It's a small SOHO / Small workgroup HP laser printer - in a personal size package. I opened the box, removed some tape, installed the toner per the directions, plugged it in and powered it up. I decided to try it out on USB prior to putting it in it's final location. Windows 11 picked it up when plugged in. I bypassed installing HP software to try out the plug and play driver. That worked fine so I then installed the full package from hp's website to try out some of the additional features. Most of these are small office or workgroup oriented features that most home users would not be likely to use. It was good to see that this supports the HP Web jetdirect interface for management. Ten days of testing - I printed numerous text documents, response time is quick from sleep mode - about 6-8 seconds to start the first page then it quickly churns out the rest. I sent a few large graphic files to see if it would stall out badly when processing - there was no issue with any file I sent. These are prints that have stalled other printers for minutes - usually due to overwhelming the memory on the printer and all of them came out in under 45 seconds. Heavy paper - I tried 26Lb and 32Lb bond paper - no issues. extremely heavy sticker backing paper that is technically a bit over the printer's rated capacity also loaded and printed without issue. Overall - This printer is built well internally and should be a reliable small workhorse for years to come. The printer I am replacing with it is very similar and around eight years old. If you print black or greyscale often - this is an ideal printer that will hide in a spot in the corner and just work when you need it. What I love - Very low price for a SOHO / Office grade workhorse laser printer - 42PPM Rated duty cycle - WOW - Up to 80,000 pages per month Additional trays can be stacked for various papers Room for improvement - Please add wireless capability !

This is an amazing laser printer for a SOHO. It comes with every thing you need to get started, except for a couple of caveats: They don't include a USB or ethernet cable. It does not have Wi-Fi either. So you are going to have to provide your own ethernet cable. I recommend an ethernet connection, as being a network enabled printer you will be able to get the max productivity out of it for your office. Once I connected it to the network, it auto setup itself. The tonner included was already pre installed and once I finished some more settings it was ready to go, easy! I love the business oriented features and security. I love that for example, you can set a print job and attach a pin # to it, so you can send it from your station/desktop and then not worry anyone is going to get/see your print job. Once you get to the printer you can enter your pin and it will print it for you, and its super fast. Its only a black printer, but the blacks are amazing and crisp. It has a tray for lots of pages (around 250), so you can count on having paper ready. The included tonner is basic and should last for around 3k pages, however they do sell a higher capacity one, should you want that in the future. I love that it does support auto 2 side printing (saves a lot on paper). Once connected to the network you can manage it thru the HP smart app, I love keeping an eye on the tonner levels with it! Highly recommend it if you have a small office or a home office and you work with lots of documents, this printer will definitely save you a lot of money on the long run, compared to ink ones.

I recently purchased the HP Printer from Best Buy, and I must say that I'm extremely pleased with my purchase. As someone who works from home, having a reliable printer is essential, and this HP Printer has definitely exceeded my expectations. First and foremost, the setup process was a breeze. The printer came with clear and easy-to-follow instructions, and I had it up and running in no time. The design of the printer is sleek and modern, and it fits in perfectly with the aesthetic of my home office. In terms of performance, the HP Printer has been nothing short of impressive. The print quality is outstanding, whether I'm printing documents, photos, or even high-resolution images. The speed of the printer is also noteworthy; I no longer have to wait around for ages for my documents to print, which has definitely improved my workflow. One feature that has been particularly useful is the wireless connectivity. I can easily print from any of my devices, whether it's my laptop, smartphone, or tablet. This has made printing incredibly convenient and hassle-free, and I no longer have to deal with tangled cables and cords. Another aspect that I appreciate about the HP Printer is its efficiency. The ink usage is quite economical, and I've found that I don't need to replace the cartridges as frequently as I did with my previous printer. This has not only saved me money in the long run, but it's also more environmentally friendly, which is definitely a plus in my book. The printer also offers a range of other useful features, such as scanning and copying capabilities. The scanner produces clear and sharp scans, and the copying function is quick and efficient. I've found these additional functions to be incredibly handy, and they've made the HP Printer a versatile tool for my home office needs. Furthermore, I've been impressed with the customer support provided by HP. I had a few questions about the printer's features and functionality, and their customer service team was responsive and knowledgeable. This level of support has given me peace of mind knowing that I can rely on HP for any assistance I may need in the future. In conclusion, I can confidently say that the HP Printer from Best Buy has been an excellent investment. It's reliable, efficient, and has definitely made my work life much easier. If you're in the market for a new printer, I highly recommend considering the HP Printer – it's a purchase you won't regret.

We bought this printer to replace a small brother printer that gave out after a few years and it has been solid so far. Printing is super quick and clean and being able to connect it to our network via Ethernet made setup a breeze. My only reason for giving it 4 instead of 5 stars is because double sided printing is tedious and requires a good bit of work switching between the top and bottom paper trays. Other than that it is a solid printer for an excellent price.

The printer is fast and the prints are crisp and clear. It does not have a single sheet feeder. If you click on two-sided prints, it prints one side and prompts you to turn the page and reinsert it. However, it is clear in the photograph that it doesn't have a single sheet feeder and it is clear in the description that it is not a "duplex" printer. Those features can double or triple the cost of the printer, so this one is an excellent printer for the price.
