Absolute best Laptop I have ever owned. For Starters- This laptop looks fantastic. In my opinion most gaming laptops look tacky and cheap with all the rainbow colors and bright lights going on. This bad boy will fit right in at the office, at the hotel, at business conferences, and other professional environment. The display is better than my LG Gaming monitors that I run on my desktop. This thing is fast. I run Solid Works and Fusion 360 CAD programs on it. It renders quickly. It also handles some games such as Rust, Ark, Bellwright, and The Finals very well. I have not tested on something intense like Baldurs Gate but I would imagine it could handle them with a decent frame rate for an enjoyable experience on a laptop while on vacation or out of town for work.

I have always been an intel CPU fan; however, the Ryzen 9 CPU in this laptop along with the Nvidia 4070 RTX Graphics card is an amazing combination. I play World of Warcraft on maximum settings, turned up to 10 in game graphics quality at 1080P. Even after hours of playing, the thermals on this laptop are impressive. No overheatingh. The screen quality is very nice with no light bleeding. I haven’t tested the wireless card in the laptop. I added a second hard drive, a WD 1000GB SSD, for data storage. The stock 512 SSD is perfect as a boot drive, but won’t be enough storage for most gamers. Fortunately HP Omen provided a second SSD slot for easy upgrades. The SSD it comes with is also upgradable. I havn’t upgraded the memory yet, but it’s nice to see two RAM slots for full memory upgradability if I ever want to. I am finding the current 16GB is sufficient. There is some confusion on the upgradability of this laptop, so I”ll clear up the confusion now. This laptop is made by HP Omen just for Best Buy. This model actuall has two accessable RAM slots, and two accessable SSD slots. The wireless card is also upgradable. I highly recommend this laptop for the AAA gamer, or anyone who needs a powerful, reliable laptop.

The HP Omen 16 is a stellar gaming laptop that offers a perfect blend of performance and aesthetics. With its powerful AMD Ryzen 9 processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 graphics card, it delivers exceptional gaming experiences with high frame rates and detailed visuals. The 165Hz Full HD display ensures smooth and immersive gameplay, while the 16GB memory and 512GB SSD provide ample space and speed for all your games and applications. Wrapped in a sleek shadow black chassis, the HP Omen 16 not only performs great but also looks the part. Whether you’re a hardcore gamer or a creative professional, this laptop is sure to exceed your expectations.

It's a really powerful laptop, it can run any game today. monitor is amazing with 165hz refresh rate it's so smooth. Only thing I don't love is how loud is the fan but it does keep it cool so it does what it needs to well but just a little louder than I wished

I've had this PC for about a year now and it started out great, was able to play most of my games without any issues but one thing I did notice early on was the batter life was very poor and in order to game on a acceptable level I had to be plugged in to a outlet. Almost a whole year later and the laptop started having major issues battery life would just be sucked out of it after about an hour or less of just surfing the web YouTube etc. And if I would game it would be done in like 30 min or less. And I believe that led to my current problems now were I get blue screens all the time I can no longer game at all it just laggs itself to death until a force crash or blue screen. Attempted to call HP they never answered a phone call so I just started a chat support and told them the problems I was having. They literally act like they don't know anything about Computers because they were just reading for a script and I was way past most of the troubleshooting they were making me go through. Long story short after they took control of my PC it no longer turns on at all. They said they would send a box for me to pack it up and send it to them and I just got an email asking me to go through troubleshooting again when it literally will not power at all. I don't know they expect me to troubleshoot something that will not power at all. It obviously a hardware issue but let's see if they will actually fix my computer or just give the run around until warranty expires next month. Will update later.

Incredible Performance/Specs at an Insane Price

I bought this at a sale price ($1199.99), and honestly. it is one hell of a deal at that price; especially when you consider what you are getting. A clean looking matte finish laptop, with a 54W Ryzen9 7940HS, a 70W TDP RTX4070 (can boost), 2 sodimm slots (ddr5-5600), 2 gen4 m.2 slots for storage and an 83whr battery that can go for 7 hours (from my testing) thanks to the Ryzen processor and FHD screen. Plus, this thing comes with a heatshield and thermal pads for your 2nd ssd, which a surprise to be sure, but a very welcome one. The speakers get loud enough, lacks bass but have decent separation. So, it's a mixed bag, where some genres of music sound good while others not so much. The screen is just regular the FHD 16:9, 165hz, with good color accuracy. Which is a good pairing for the components, since this makes the keyboard cool/warm during games and fans don't get as loud. The keyboard has a nice clickyness to it; making it satisfying to type on but not too loud that it would annoy someone beside you in a library (has an odd layout though, needs some getting used to). A few nitpicks though. The power button... why HP? Why did you put it right above the "backspace" and beside the "delete" button. I hit the power button so much due to its placement, but luckily that just pressing it doesn't do anything (needs to be held down for a bit). Also, a calculator shortcut... its kinda odd on a gaming laptop. It's a fingerprint/hand oil magnet due to its matte finish, still it looks great though, and it doesn't look like it will be prone to scratches like a Razer Blade. Some features are hidden in the BIOS instead of just being able to access it in one of the plethora of HP software, like the FN lock. F10 to access to BIOS BTW.

Bought this item open box came with eight gigs of ram which caused the system to run slow running nearly at 100% capacity. I had to go to Micro Center and purchase 16 GB of RAM for the laptop to work functionally. I tried to return it but I was told her there was nothing that they could do and I kept being offered refunds that were not of equivalent value. Overall it’s a great computer. Just be wary of buying it open box and make sure you have the correct amount of ram in it mine supposed to come in 16 GB now it has about 24 due to my upgrade runs flawlessly that’s my only gripe.

I bought this HP Omen 3 months ago and it was perfect, the Rtx 4070 and the Ryzen 9 are very good. Although out of nowhere the laptop stopped working, a problem with the battery. That's why I don't recommend it.

Recently have been in the market for a new laptop, I originally bought a base macbook air M2 and while that laptop was perfectly fine, in the long run I figured it wouldn't be enough power for me. Then I found this beauty on sale for $1099, and let me tell you I made a good decision. The build quality on this laptop is great, keyboard and track pad feels amazing. I've only played one game and it handled it on high settings with ease with no thermal issues. The RAM and SSD are upgradeable, and the fan noise is not very loud. The display is good, not great but for everything else you get it's perfectly fine. If you find this on sale again make the move, you will not regret it!

With some minor upgrades (more ram and a second nVME storage drive) this is a monster for gaming with the 4070 and ryzen 9. However, there are a few drawbacks. There’s a shortage of ports in my opinion (4.5mm charging port, 1 hdmi, 2 usb-c, 2 USB, Ethernet, and headphone). The big drawback is the lack of of a display port since HDMI won’t handle the 165 HZ that this capable of. The other thing to be aware of is that the power adapter is massive, supplying 280W. It’s not necessarily a drawback since the power needs of this laptop are heavy (no usb-c charging), but something to be aware of. I bought this on sale for $1200 and for that price I feel like for that price it more than delivers on what I need for gaming.

I wouldnt pay full price for this computer given all the constant deal going around and just overall too expensive for a 4070, 16gb of ram, and half a TB of storage. However, none of the ram is soldered on, which is exceptional, and there actually is a second m.2 storage slot which was a beautiful surprise. The good: premium build feel and seems to have super solid cooling. Port selection is solid and the screen is awesome (not sure for photo and video editing but seems in the ballpark). The bad: battery life is just average and the HP Omen gaming hub really doesnt seem to do much for performance and mode changes (comparing to Asus's). The really bad: after a ton of troubleshooting and zero help from HP forums, I can't fix the ping spikes. Excellent speeds 99% of the time but matchmaking in any game is near impossible with upwards of 5000 ping spikes roughly every 5 minutes. I tested concurrently with my old ROG G14 with no problems. Others seem to have this problem too. They're not long but definitely a massive issue when you either get killed in a crucial moment or simply kicked from the game. I'm going to replace the Realtek wifi card at this point and see what happens. Conclusion: honestly might be the best gaming laptop I've ever owned until started running across these ping spikes.

Excellent for the price. Got it on sale for $1,099. It has played every game I've thrown at it so far with Ultra settings and has stayed relatively cool. The only downsides are the display is not so bright, the response time is not the best at 7ms, the trackpad is a bit finicky, and the battery life could be better. It's hard to complain though for the price I got it for. The fact that it has a 7940hs and a RTX 4070 makes this a budget beast. I would just recommend throwing in 32gb of RAM and a second ssd to future-proof it a bit.
