I have put in weeks of research to find a laptop that could meet my needs as a video creative for 4k and 5k Drone videos and photos. I am coming from a 2018 i5 MacBook Pro with 16 GB Ram and 512 GB hard drive. I was dead set on getting either an M2 Max 14 inch MacBook Pro or M1 Max 16 Inch MacBook Pro which would have cost me about $2,600 from the Refurb Apple Store. I decided to see what 13th Gen Intel had to offer and research various benchmarks and YouTube reviews of different laptops with 13th Gen i9 processors. Then I found this HP Envy 16 Inch on sale for $1,299. The benchmarks for the i9 13900H is on par if not better than the M1 Max and with the RTX 4060 GPU on this HP Envy 16, it exceeds the performance of the integrated M1 MAX GPU. This laptop has the power and performance for a lot less than it’s Apple competition. Where this falls short is the overall brightness which is 400 nits where the Apple is 500 nit average and up to 1000 nit peak. Also, the battery life is about 6 to 7 hours of watching content, productivity, email, surfing the web, etc. If you are gaming or doing power intensive tasks, the battery last about 2 to 3 hours. The MacBook Pro is going to be closer to 16 hours or more. You will have to determine if spending an extra $1,000 or more is worth a brighter screen and better battery life. A couple things to mention that is not clear in the product description, YES you can easily upgrade this laptop. It is NOT based on the Evo platform where the RAM is soldered on. You can upgrade this RAM to 64 GB of DDR5, and you can add a second NVME Drive. The included drive is a MICRON 3400 with a Read of 6,600 MB/s and a Write of 5,000 MB/s. You can also swap out the Wi-Fi/Bluetooth adapter if you want. This has the Intel AX211 NGW. Another thing is, you CAN charge this laptop via USB-C and I was able to get 91 watts of charge consistently. You will probably get a message saying to use a higher watt power adapter for full performance though. So don’t expect to get full CPU/GPU power using USB-C charging. I do want to highlight the following, Windows Hello works great and reminds me of how well Face ID works. Start up from power off to being logged in using Windows Hello takes about 15 seconds. When you restart from power on, it takes about 25 seconds to be logged back in. The speakers for me were TERRIBLE at first. Be sure to go to the HP website and download all of the latest drivers and update the BIOS to the latest version. That fixed the speaker problems for me which was low volume. Last thing I want to mention again is that if you want the FULL power this laptop has to offer, you will need to have it plugged in to outlet using the included 200W adapter. Apple products give you the full power plugged in or not. Hopefully this review gave you the insight you were looking for.

I haven’t had a laptop before and I don’t know much about laptops in general so don’t take my word for any of this stuff. Also the grammar and punctuation here is gonna suck because I don’t feel like putting effort into that stuff. I put some pictures but the screen is too reflective so I didn’t put it in. Battery life: The battery life on it is not too terrible and would be good for schoolwork. However if you are playing games on it then it’ll probably last for 1-2 hours before you have to plug in the charger (I don't really mind it though because I have outlets near my desk). Graphics: The graphics are great (to me) but the fans will go crazy if you put everything on max graphics, it also does that when you plug in the charger too. Also I’m not sure if it’s for every laptop but the screen is like 2560x1600 or something so theres a slight inconvenience when trying to find a good wallpaper because everything is too small for the screen and becomes blurry. Speed: I think the speed is pretty fast but I don’t know much so I don’t really have much to say. However sometimes it’s kinda slow for some reason, it might be my internet but i’m also near the router so… Extra: -Yeah it’s a good laptop and I recommend it. -Theres a lot of storage, good graphics, pretty fast speed, good battery life, and theres touch screen (I like the touch screen but I get some people might not like it). -It also comes with 30 day free trial of a McAfee subscription which was nice but it also stressed me out because it had all of this virus scanner and identity protection scanner and personal information scanner and I used all of the perks and it made me all paranoid. I kept scanning for viruses every two seconds. Speaking of viruses the windows thing also comes with a virus scanner and I also download the MSERT scanner thing and everyday I was so paranoid and kept scanning all three at once multiple times. And what made it worse was the MSERT thing said that I had 6 infected files but at the end it said I was good to go which made me more scared because WHAT INFECTED FILES. Then I turned to the internet and realized the infected files is more suspicious files and you should just listen to the end results. So I only used it periodically. -Theres like a red light thing coming from the camera hole that scared me because the first time I saw it was when I just started playing the Sims and the battery warning popped up and for some reason the screen turned black so I tried pressing the power button to turn it back on again and I guess the facial recognition scanner turned on and created the red beam thingy but I didn’t know so I scared me. So if you see it then its just the face id hing because the red light comes up every time you do face id, so don’t be scared. -If your playing games then the laptop the part on top of the keyboard can get very very hot but usually that only happens when I play while charger because I guess the fans can’t take it both lol. -The laptop is pretty big and the box it comes in is unnecessarily big. -Also one last thing about the delivery, it said I was going to get 1 day delivery but there was some problem and it came 4 days late. It probably wasn’t the fault of best buy but it also might be. Conclusion: It’s good but a little pricy but it’s good and I don't really care. I’ll use this until I graduate in a few billion years.

Overall, solid product with a few hardware and design complaints. I use this for intensive computations at work and also at home for some mild gaming. pros: 1. I got it on sale and the price is a steal compared to similar laptops 2. Great graphics card and i9 core is more than sufficient 3. Large, clear display 4. lots of storage cons: 1. touchpad malfunction: I had to get the first HP Envy I ordered exchanged because the touchpad glitches and made the device impossible to use. likely a hardware issue 2. The laptop is pretty heavy for its size 3. Laptop gets pretty hot and the fan can be loud 4. Display could be brighter

After months of searching for an upgradable laptop with a good screen for a reasonable price with a new gen cpu for coding and data analysis, I jumped on this deal because the youtube reviewer recommended Lenovo Legion Slim 5/7 with AMD 7480 (which cost more) had higher fan noise and heat, even when not doing any work and mediocre screens. The Thinkpads cost much more with 32 or 64 RAM. Microcenter has a big sale on the 32x2 kit of Crucial CT2K32G52C42S5 which I had them install. As with other reviews, there was a problem getting it to post but after unplugging the battery for a few minutes, it seems very happy with 64GB RAM. I have it connected to a LG 5K via TB3 and a Dell 4K screen via Usb-C Gen2 with no issues.

This laptop, especially at a discounted price, is really good. It is mostly a designer laptop with a touchscreen and high horsepower. The sheer speed in this non-gaming laptop is great. I9 processor helps perform intense machine learning algorithms and other college work. The battery is pretty good if you maximize the battery life. It ranges around 3-8 hours depending on the content you are using. The biggest issue is how loud it is when cooling. Since it is a thin laptop, it is almost guaranteed to blow alot of air.

Bought this laptop back in september when i found out a class I was taking required using Unity which needed a nice graphics card i had a 2019 hp envy x360 which still ran fine but since i didnt want to commute up to school for assignments i figured it was time for a new laptop. Ive seen from many reviews that laptops which graphics cards = constant issues so after a day or 2 of research and trying to decide this one was on sale for an awesome deal. Since my hp envy x360 lasted me 4 years and was still working great this was the obvious choice for me. I have had the computer for about 7 months now and while i dont do much gaming like I used to for 4 months I was using Unity to develop VR applications which eventually we deployed onto the Meta Quest 2. It was flawless working with it when it came to the point I had to deploy it onto the device everybody using the school computers we're having issues deploying it except for me using this laptop. I also use it to write and develop code in VSC and Visual Studio with some minor machine learning but it runs everything smooth and fast allowing me to have an insane amount of tabs and applications open without it slowing down the performance. I didn't realize how slow my hp envy x360 was until I got this one because up until the day I bought this I was impressed with how well it still ran so it made it difficult to justify the purchase but im happy I made it. The only issue ive had is that the usual screenshot button turns off the camera and since i had a keyboard cover on it took me a bit to figure out why my camera wasnt turning on, but my fault so screenshots require snipping tool. Also the mouse pad is huge and my muscle memory just cant find that sweet spot so ill end up left clicking alot when i mean to be right clicking. Battery only Lasts me about 2-3 hours. Not anything Major IMO. In my opinion HP envys are awesome laptops with great performance and speed. I havent had any overheating or crashing and im really grinding on this thing for hours a day building and developing apps since I got it. While i can only talk of how its doing after 7 months i wouldn't be suprised if it ran just as good in 4 years.

A little heavier than I expected but I just need it to be on my desk so no issue here. It is defaulted at auto wake by keyboards. So I was so stressed out because I couldn't shut it down. Was able to fix. Fan is a little noisy too. Besides these, love it. Good brightness, gaming graphics, 16 inches. It has everything I need

Purchase this to replace my old laptop. after filtered all Laptops with "13th gen i9 CPU" and sorted it by price low to high, this laptop was on top of the list. and $1099 was a great prompt sale price. For those who intend to upgrade RAM, highly recommend unplug battery before you touch anything else, the mental (looks like Aluminum) cover of RAM is very easy to short something if the battery was not disconnected.

After four months with this laptop, I’m thoroughly impressed. Running demanding games like Palworld on high settings is a breeze, thanks to the powerful 4060 graphics card. The 120Hz 2560 x 1600 display is stunning, offering top-notch quality. Even during extended gaming sessions, the laptop remains surprisingly cool. It’s a fantastic starter laptop with sturdy build quality. Highly recommended

Pros: Great build quality with a sturdy chassis. Powerful i9 processor. Surprisingly capable 90 watt 4060. Cons: Cheap feeling keyboard, miles short of HPs excellent Spectre keyboards. While this isn’t a huge deal, I found typing unpleasant. Warm screen tone out of the box. This is a display with wide color gamut but the calibration on my unit was awful, looked like it was on night mode. I checked all setting and it was just how my unit came. Bad QC potentially. Overall thoughts: Battery life was acceptable for a laptop with these specs. 7-8 hours productivity work are possible. The 90 watt 4060 outperformed my expectations, is similar to some 3070 ti gaming laptops and benchmarks were within 10% of gaming laptops with full powered 4060’s. With frame generation you can play any AAA title at high settings. With the 120hz display, this is a legitimate option for those who want a business friendly gaming laptop. In the end however, the screen color, the cheap feeling keyboard, and the slightly sticky feeling trackpad made the Envy unpleasant for me to interact with and it was a return for me. 4 stars at $1350 sale price because I assume the screen color was a one off in my unit and many others could probably live with the keyboard and trackpad without worrying about it. Depending on your use case and priorities, I would recommend it to some.

I have to admit that I was a Dell loyalist for many years now. However, when researching and shopping for an update, this HP Envy met all of my higher power user technical specs—at a much better price point. Ordering and purchasing online, and pick up was easy, as well as the initial set up. I loaded all of my applications and the higher technical apps, and with just a little tweaking, everything is running superbly. I am truly impressed, and pleased with this purchase.

Best laptop I have ever bought. I am going to Africa to do photography and made an investment into myself and my llc. So far I have pushed this thing to limits with photoshop, premiere pro, lightroom. Even been doing some gaming on it with 120Hz is nice I do miss my 240 on my desktop but ill take a 4060 with portability over a 2080 ti fe. also nice to charge it with my jackery solar panel and battery system. so I don't even use power from the grid to charge it. i have messed around with the touch screen a bit and it is easy to clean if you use bare hands but i use my touch screen gloves and it leaves no marks. the build quality is nice will update my review when i come back from Africa with it. I even snagged this bad boi when it was on sale so big plus. will add more photos later, but for now look how clean it is like a mirror lol.
