This is a great design in a laptop. The black color is not glossy, so fingerprints are not a problem. It looks great in professional environments and just looks very sleek. The things I like: - As mentioned, the design - 16:10 Aspect ration screen gives more height. The screen resolution is 1920x1200 and gets bright enough for my use in a well light room - Webcam is great resolution and has adjustments for low light and background settings - Sound is superb. The speakers are loud and clear. - Keyboard travel is perfect, there is enough travel to feel that you are pressing. - Trackpad is probably the best I've ever used on Windows - Windows Hello, login with face unlock or fingerprint - Performance has been great for general productivity and light programming tasks - Battery life is the best I've ever had on a Windows laptop The one thing I do not like is a major problem in my opinion - the additional keys on the right of the keyboard. There are three keys which only open the myHP app (but go to different sections). These that take up space and shifting the layout slightly (enough that you will notice when coming from a more traditional layout. The fourth key is a programmable button, which can launch multiple applications - I don't have a use for this but can understand it. Why not let users program all of the keys? How often do you need to contact support, that a dedicated button would be required? How often do you change the camera settings? Overtime you will get used to the shift of the keys, but this is a big misstep in an otherwise perfect device.

    Excellent Option

It's been awhile since I have used an HP product (although I do own an HP Gaming Desktop that gets used by others in my household much more frequently than by me anymore). Aesthetic wise this is a nice looking laptop that is truly portable with a quality feel and sleek profile in my opinion. This is not a top of the line option but it still will fit most users needs and look great doing so. That's definitely not to imply that it is a low end or entry level option lacking quality or anything but it is clearly intended to draw in the user that doesn't want to spend the Dragonfly Elite dollars to have a better than entry level experience. The display is more than adequate looks wise. Colors appear as they should, working with photos and media is pretty good, and it can handle your typical daily needs for the majority of users. There are definitely better resolution options out there but for most users that will not honestly matter and may not be something they notice in their actual use. The 16GB RAM is adequate and the 512GB of storage will meet most users needs. The processor isn't the fastest out there but again, for most users this will not be an issue or even something they will notice. The camera is decent so you won't feel like you are lacking in any quality when doing things like Zoom meetings or anything. The keyboard is decent...not necessarily the best I have ever used on a laptop but it doesn't feel cheap or make you want to run out and buy a wireless keyboard to compensate. The charging block is surprisingly powerful at 96w and the battery life is great with me seeing about 12 hours of runtime before needing to charge again (which again, with the 96w charging block you get decently fast charging times). The speakers are pretty good for laptop speakers with better than expected sound quality. Something that stands out to me (and slightly annoys me because it one will require yet another subscription in our lives if you want it....which has become almost a requirement to get the full benefits of some tech gadgets now) are the 4 dedicated keys but primarily the tech support key. It's not a must to have and many will find that they don't need the service and its fee so thankfully you don't feel forced to use it. If you are like me you can reassign one of the keys to do something that will fit your needs BUT otherwise you will be left with 1 useless key if you opt not to get the tech support subscription in the future. Not a deal breaker but worth noting for those that will be annoyed that they can't reassign that particular key to something they use. Overall this feels like a more than adequate option for most laptop users but if you are someone that heavily edits videos and photos on a professional level this might not be the one for you.

Great combination of a laptop and chromebook

This laptop size, battery, and layout reminds me of a Chromebook that I have, but with much more functionality. The size is nice and can fit snug in many places, but does weigh more than a Chromebook, with good reason. The processing power and battery life on this thing are great. I’m actually more impressed with it than I thought I would be. Some of the notable features I enjoy are: * Face unlock feature for logging into Windows (Works even in the dark) * Fingerprint unlock for logging into Windows (You can setup both options to login) *Speakers are great for how small they are. I was listening to music on my desk in my office, and the sound was full and high quality at only 50% volume. * Backlit Keyboard option - Has 2 light intensity settings when using at night * Shortcut keys on Keyboard that let you access My HP, HP Support, and custom settings. Sometimes these keys feel a little slow or non-responsive, but are a nice feature. Battery life has been pretty solid considering I keep the screen pretty bright and use the backlit keyboard in the evenings. The Fast Charge feature does indeed charge quickly when the computer is off. I drained the battery down until it was dead, and I timed the recharge for 30 minutes and it was at 54%. The screen is also impressive, blows my older laptop out of the water. I have to use a gaming monitor with my old laptop, but when I connected it to the Dragonfly (through docking station), the color and quality were quite similar to one another. The 400 nits brightness and 100% sRGB are nice bonuses, you don’t see 100% very often. Touchscreen is responsive and works well. The downside IMO to this computer is the limited ports. There are 3 USB C ports, and for most people that would be fine. Personally I like adding devices such as USB drives, Mouse/Keyboard option, external monitor(s) and while USB C is becoming more common, many peripherals still use USB A. Fortunately I have a docking station, but that is just one more thing I need to bring around with me. Just be prepared if you are planning on using accessories. Overall, I’m happy and quite impressed with this computer. The specs are great and the hardware is well put together. HP does make some quality products and this is no exception. I bring this with me all over the house to use. I get about the same processing power and speed as I do my laptop, with much better size and battery life. Its nice to have a Chromebook-sized computer, but with Windows and all the apps and programs available for me to run. If you’re on the fence, I think you’ll be happy with this.

The HP Dragonfly Pro 14 might not be a game-changer in the realm of laptops, but it does combine exceptional performance, portability, and a sleek design. It truly delivers as a quality, well-built professional's laptop. The HP Dragonfly Pro 14 includes an AMD Ryzen 7 processor, which guarantees lightning-fast speeds and seamless multitasking and may be overkill for the average user but is a great find at this price point. With 16GB of RAM, it handles resource-intensive tasks, ensuring a lag-free experience even when running multiple applications simultaneously. This laptop is a powerhouse, capable of tackling demanding projects and resource-hungry software with ease and will handle some gaming, although it is not a true gaming machine. The 14-inch Full HD display with touch functionality has vibrant colors, crisp details and smooth touch response. Equipped with an AMD Radeon 680M graphics card it is both good for working on projects or just watching your favorite shows. People are comparing this to the Macbook Pro for some reason. Apparently, the graphics aren't as "awesome as Mac" to be a Mac killer, but I think the graphics look fine, Battery life is getting a mixed review on multiple sites. I have not had the battery drain others have talked about in standby/sleep mode. Others have also claimed some issues with charging the battery fully. Again, nothing out of the ordinary for me in this regard. I get more than a full day as a freelance user of the device which basically means, some time in the morning reading/sending emails, some time working on invoices and more emails, checking emails again later in the day, reading the news in the evening and maybe playing a basic game or two. I would trust whatever numbers HP claims for battery life. The power source included with this laptop is a nice, 96W USB-C charger. Weighing in at a mere 3.5 pounds this laptop is heavy compared to similar models in its class. Not so heavy that it is a problem but compared to my Samsung Notebook 9 which is roughly the same size, I notice the weight difference. That being said, the HP Dragonfly has a very appealing paint job and feels to be built out of stronger materials than most laptops. It will still slip ffortlessly slips into your bag without weighing you down, and you'll look cool at the coffee shop using it! It feels VERY DURABLE in your hands but too heavy to be considered part of the "ultra" class of lightweight laptops. Other random thoughts: Minimal bloatware, good webcam and, as far as laptops go, really good audio out of the B&O speakers. Not "concert quality" of course, but better than average for a laptop. Storage is designed for the online user who saves data/photos/music to the cloud rather than the hard drive. Microsoft Hello option for authentication. As for some oddities... There is an extra row (vertically) of keys on the far right of the keyboard that are programmed for HP's "$11/mo" support plan. Initially this is distracting as the keyboard had to be "squished" a bit to make space for these pre-programmed keys that I will never use. I wish they were apps and not keys. I want the space back. The first year of support is covered by HP, though. There is no headphone jack. There are no USB-A (old) jacks, only USB-C. If you need USB-A ports, make sure you plan ahead for a dongle to give you the USB ports you need. In conclusion, good value, powerful laptop, solid construction with some annoyances. If the USB ports, battery concerns (raised by others), no headphone jack, and extra weight don't bother you, this is a solid buy and should last you several years.

The HP - Dragonfly Pro 14" Wide Ultra XGA Touch-Screen - AMD Ryzen 7 - 16GB Memory - 512GB SSD - Sparkling Black Laptop is sight to behold. But what is around the bend? First the build is SOLID. I wish this was around when I was in University and had to "abuse" my devices on a daily basis. The HP - Dragonfly Pro Sparkling Black Laptop is marketed as being a "professional" laptop but I definitely see it being capable as a (responsible) student's laptop. The packing is very minimal, which I dig as it is environmentally friendly. I just had to add that somewhere in the review! The screen is very bright on the HP - Dragonfly Pro Sparkling Black Laptop, probably the brightest and most lifelike in my "collection". The touchscreen likewise is responsive with minimal delay. The part HP forgot to tell you on the packaging is that ”accessories are not included". You get a usb-C charging port and 2 (ONLY TWO!) USB-C accessory ports- the small ones. For some this may be ok. But I have more than two devices! And they aren't all "C" type. So if you are like me, expect to plunk down some more cash on a couple (premium) extension dongles to handle your devices. I got a multi-C for one and a multi-B for the other. It's 2023 folks. We shouldn't have to do this. With that out of the way the HP - Dragonfly Pro Sparkling Black Laptop handles whatever you can throw at it in terms of applications. Chrome with 20 tabs? Not a problem. With the office suite open? Still not a problem. I would venture to view that this handles games well too. Though, my testing in that area was limited to angry birds. That run smoothly and the touchscreen made it even more fun. Though, remember, don't go filling this bad boy up with a bunch of stuff at the get go.. It only has a 512gb drive. And again that may be fine for some but not the "pro" among us. Good luck performing a diy upgrade as it seems hp has made the HP - Dragonfly Pro Sparkling Black Laptop upgrade-proof by the way everything is connected. You have to take it in to get it upgraded to ensure you don't break what I assume is it's solder? Onto the keyboard. Again what were HP thinking with a key dedicated to their software? Not only that, the delete/backspace key is cut in half. For people like me with big hands - no bueno. Something just feels"off"' about it, and it has led me to making some pretty embarrassing typos. But again if you are getting this for University or to surf the web, nothing pro, you'll be fine. The only thing I would say is "pro" is both the display and the rock solid build. So if that's what you're in the market for, this laptop is for you. If you want to plunk down some more cash,, they make a 1TB configuration... But why do that when you could take this to a shop for an upgrade and come out with more money in your wallet??? With all that said, the HP - Dragonfly Pro Sparkling Black Laptop, once configured and modded is a very capable pro device!

This is the perfect laptop for a student or a traveler. It's small, with a 14" touchscreen, and light (about 3.4 lbs). The version I got comes with 16GB of RAM and a 512MB solid state hard drive (both are upgradeable to 32GB and 1TB). It comes with Windows 11 and an AMD processor and graphics. Battery life is very good. HP estimates it at 15 hours. I can't verify that but can say that I used it off and on for a few days and didn't need to recharge it. The keyboard takes a bit of getting used to, the actual letter/number keys are bigger than I'm used to, but the actual keyboard is smaller. As with anything, the more you use it, the less of an issue it is. The keyboard is backlit, which is always a plus, especially if you're using the computer in a dark room. One of the few complaints I have with this laptop is how few ports it has. It has three USB-C (newest generation) ports and that's it. Luckily you can get adapters to make older USB cables work with new USB-C ports. No headphone jack, so I guess Bluetooth is the way to go, unless they come out with USB-C headphones. No HDMI port, so if you want to connect to a screen, you have to use a program such as Tubecast or Miracast. It comes in white or black, the one I have is black. Overall, I highly recommend this laptop, especially if size and weight is a factor.

The HP Dragonfly Pro 14 came in a sturdy white box that gave me a MacBook Pro feel to it. HP decided not to throw a whole bunch of useless things in the box, just the laptop, power cable and a set of simple instructions to get started. Out of the box, the laptop has a decent weight to it for a 14-inch unit. I expected it to be lighter, like some of these Chromebooks, but was pleasantly surprised to find it had that heavier, sturdy profile. Setup was straight-forward. If you've set up a HP PC with Windows before, then you've pretty much set them all up. It wasn't too long before I was at the desktop ready to explore. As far as its use, the HP Dragonfly Pro 14 adheres to the high standard that HP has cemented into the industry over the decades in computing. For 14-inches, the screen is still large and bright enough to do meaningful work on. Movies from my external drive didn't look half bad on the screen either. The keyboard and mouse work flawlessly. The keyboard is a simple design and ease to use. The keys are backlit, which is always a nice feature. The trackpad is accurate and doesn't require unnecessary swiping to move to the desired location. The audio is pretty decent for a unit so small. No headphone jack, bit of a let down, but listening to my music through the speakers while browsing online was equally enjoyable. As for performance, don't let its small stature fool you. The HP Dragonfly Pro 14 is sporting an AMD Ryzen 7 7000 Series that can operate at up to 4.7GHz with 16GB of RAM and a 512GB NvME SSD for storage. Along with that, you have an integrated AMD Radeon that maybe won't let you appreciate the highest settings of your favorite game, but still gets the job done nonetheless. Even after running for a few hours and trying multiple programs, this laptop was still cool to the touch the entire time. I barely remember the fans revving up, if they ever did at all. I haven't found anything that this unit can't reasonably do, given its specs. All-in-all, I would say this laptop is perfect for work travel with some light gaming during the off time. The size and weight offer premium portability while everything "under the hood" offers you a workstation that could rival some of you bigger class laptops. Overall, I'd rate the HP Dragonfly Pro 14 a great companion to the employee on the move.

The HP Dragonfly Pro notebook tries to strike a balance between being ultra portable and still be worthy of a business productivity notebook. While this is a very nice notebook I don't necessarily think that balance was achieved. Weighing in at 3.5lbs and with a somewhat larger form factor, I would not consider this to be an ultra portable notebook. The larger form factor is due to the 1920x1200 WUXGA screen (vs 1920x1080 of other common ultra portables). The screen is very nice and in my opinion is a selling point for this notebook. It is very bright and I could easily see the screen in daylight. It does have a reflective screen and I would have preferred a slightly more matte screen to help with reflections, but the viewing angles are pretty good. There are only three USB-C ports for connectivity. Notably, there is no headphone jack or micro SD card reader, but these days USB-C does it all with a multi-function adapter. That's not a big problem for me since I use bluetooth ear buds but it may be an issue for some. I appreciate the fact that all of the USB-C ports can be used for charging from the included 96w charger. I think battery life is quite impressive. With the screen at full brightness I streamed a long Youtube video and the notebook lasted about 10hrs before going into hibernation. If the screen was dimmer I wouldn't doubt if it would last 11-12hrs. Recharging took only about 1hr 40min. The keyboard is backlit and has a nice tactile feel to the buttons. Where this notebook stands out is the processing power. The Ryzen 7 CPU is great and clearly outperforms several other notebooks I have with i7 or i9 processors. I do a lot of image editing that is very CPU intensive and while clearly not a desktop performance computer the Dragonfly will definitely meet my needs on the road.

This is one of those laptops that isn't too flashy. It's black, it look basic - perhaps more geared for work than for play. The screen resolution is standard HD, but overall the display is clean and responsive. The marketing describes the screen as a "Micro Edge display" with an "ultra-thin, barely visible bezel," but I can only assume that was said in jest. Those bezels are relatively thick for a modern laptop. But if you can get past that, you'll see that this laptop packs a good punch. It has really good speed, but its one true talent is its battery life. I used it for about 3 days of casual use before I felt it was time to charge it back up. I was really amazed by how it sipped power. The ports are OK: One USB-C 10Gbps and two Thunderbolt 3 40Gbps (No Thunderbolt 4). You will probably need a dongle for more versatile connectivity. The power block is USB-C as well, which makes it easier to have a backup. I also found the laptop to be surprisingly heavy for its size. The keyboard is solid and types great. There are some dedicated buttons, but it looks like only one is programmable (at least according to the instructions). That was a bit of a disappointment, but otherwise this laptop seems to accomplish what it set out to do. It's easy to use, feels good to type on and lasts a long time before it needs to charge. Just don't expect to be wowed by it!

I was unaware of the Dragonfly Pro line from HP and I was very excited to review a laptop geared toward business professionals. The packaging of the laptop is really great and you feel like you are opening a premium product. In the box you receive the laptop, braided charging cable and power brick. My unit has 16GB of RAM and 512GB SSD. The laptop is super light and durable. The computer has three USB-C ports that are extremely fast and offer blazing fast transfer speeds. The keyboard.....just wow. The typing experience with this keyboard is mind blowingly good. If HP can make that typing experience for desktop keyboard users they will sell like hot cakes. It is THAT GOOD. The trackpad is glass and is also quite nice. It feels almost on par as industry competitors. The battery life for the laptop is advertised is up to 15 hours. With my use i am getting closer to 10 or 11 hours which i still think is quite good. The built in finger print reader is fantastic and in my opinion better then most finger print scanners on other laptops. I am used to the scanners not working or reading my fingerprint. The Ryzen 7 processor is fantastic... I prefer AMD in any computer. I would highly recommend this laptop to business users but also college students. I see tremendous value in it for college students as well.

I’ve had this HP Dragonfly for several days now, and it’s a very nice laptop computer. It is small, measuring only 9 inches by 12.5 inches, but that makes it light and easy to carry, which is the whole point. It is sleek and attractive in appearance. The display is crisp and clear. The audio is by Bang & Olufsen and sounds very good, not that I do a lot of my music listening through a laptop’s speakers. The keyboard is among the better ones I’ve come across on a laptop computer. I don’t generally like typing on a laptop’s keyboard because I’m always hitting an adjacent key because the keys are relatively small. But that’s not the case here. The keys are good-sized and well-spaced with good springiness. I could actually type out a lengthy document on this keyboard without difficulty. Connectivity consists of three USB-C ports, and the brief instruction sheet included in the box, which basically tells you to turn the computer on and get on with it, says that, as far as powering the computer and charging the battery, use the included cable, which has a USB-C male connector on each end, along with the included A/C adapter, and plug the cable into a USB port. I experimented, and, yes, any of the three ports can be used to charge the battery or power the computer from a wall socket. With only USB-C ports, connecting any peripheral like a printer, scanner, external monitor, etc., will most likely require a USB port adapter or a USB-2 to USB-C cable, and these are all readily available. With 16 GB of RAM and a 500 GB hard drive, this machine should serve the needs of most anyone who would be included to purchase and use it. Highly recommended.

The HP Dragonfly Pro 14 is a mixed bag to me. It has a lot of things I like with just a few caveats. On the plus list are the solid construction, ports, portability, and performance for everyday use. - The HP Dragonfly 14 Pro is small-ish but premium and sturdy. - The 3 USB-C ports are minimalistic for sure but very clean, with 2 ports on one edge and 1 port on the other. And that’s it, which you’ll either love or… not love. It can take some getting used to but to me this is the future and checks the “love” box; 3 universal ports to do whatever you want with, the biggest ergonomic benefit of which is that you can charge/power the HP Dragonfly Pro from whichever side you prefer in any given situation. - The Ryzen 7 CPU smokes through common tasks without getting too hot. - Another aspect of performance is the battery which I never ran to depletion because it lasted through my day-to-day mobile rounds without needing to charge anywhere along the line. I don’t have a specific # on how long it would last if really pressed, but in practical terms it convinced me I didn’t need to babysit it, by the end of my first week I stopped checking the battery gauge because it was honestly never even close to letting me down even after several hours of use. On the caveat list are the hotkeys, the GPU, and the display. - Hotkeys, only one of which is user programmable. This seems like a great idea in principle but in practice these keys mostly just take up space and it seems a little odd to devote permanent physical space to keys that are devoted to tech support functions. I just don’t need those functions that often; more often I’ll own a laptop through its entire lifetime and never once have a need to contact support. The one user programmable key is nice though for assigning to whatever is your “go to” app in a single stroke. - The GPU is lower tier. Although that’s fine for me in practice because I don’t intend this laptop for gaming, it’s primarily a lean, mean, backpack machine for when I need to get work done while on the go, and it does that great, but it also means I know that's pretty much all it's ever going to be. - The biggest caveat to me is the display. The resolution isn’t the problem, as the 1920x1200 makes this 14” display “feel” more spacious than you might expect. No, the problem is that as I used and switched apps there would be periods where the display seemed to be in some kind screen content auto-adapt mode that caused the screen to appear “washed out” with very poor contrast at times. This “washed out” look didn’t last long, usually less than a minute, but it was long enough to be noticeable anytime I was doing work that involved switching back and forth between applications, most notably from a dark themed app to a light themed app; or even when switching to the Windows desktop; even though I had Windows itself in dark mode too. I THINK this might be related to power savings because, so far as I could tell, it didn’t seem to be nearly as noticeable when I was running the laptop while plugged-in. I honestly don’t 100% know what to make of this, just that I looked and found nothing in the driver or OS settings to circumvent this. I did get used to it over the course of a few days once I learned and came to trust that the “washed out” appearance would resolve in a minute or less, but it was unfortunate since the display is the one thing that’s literally “in your face” the entire time you’re using it. This alone is enough that, while I’m “generally” happy with the laptop, I’d encourage most people to look for something else, especially in this price range. This one thing conveys a slightly “cheap” experience as it so visibly diminishes what is otherwise a clean and capable system for portable productivity. Maybe this will be resolved with a driver or firmware update, I sure hope so, but no such updates showed as available. So, for now, it’s a shortcoming that’s literally hard to overlook.
