The Shark SpeedStyle RapidGloss Finisher & High Velocity Dryer is excellent! We own several Shark appliances and have a genuine appreciation of those great products with their impressive performance. It was therefore an easy decision to select the Shark SpeedStyle. The Shark SpeedStyle RapidGloss Finisher & High Velocity Dryer (Model HD331) includes a sleek, compact, lightweight and powerful High Velocity Dryer unit and a set of three hairstyling accessories. The Dryer is shaped like the number “7” and has a cylindrical shaped body. The Dryer provides four temperature settings (No Heat, Low, Medium, High), plus “Cool Shot” (No Heat while button is depressed and held) and three airflow settings (Low, Medium, High). Each of those setting levels are annunciated by small LED lamps above the icons on the Temperature Button and the Airflow Button. Directly below the Temperature and Airflow buttons is the slide type On/Off power switch. My wife and I both found it somewhat inconvenient for those control buttons to be located on the rear of the dryer’s handle, near the bottom. The controls cannot be manipulated during operation of the dryer using the same hand which is holding the dryer. Adjustment of the controls is a two-handed operation. The Cool Shot button however, is conveniently located on the front of the handle, where it is easily depressed by the same hand which holds the dryer. There is also an “IQ” Styler Attachment Indicator which illuminates when a styling attachment is latched onto the front nozzle of the dryer. Accessory attachments supplied with the RapidGloss Finisher & High Velocity Dryer include a RapidGloss Finisher which uses Coanda Technology to attract hair to the Finisher to smooth hair. The Coanda Effect refers to an aerodynamic characteristic whereby a fast-moving jet of air “attaches” to a surface. The high velocity airflow of the SpeedStyle effectively wraps hair around the RapidGloss Finisher and maintains tension on the hair to smooth away “frizzies”. Also included is a QuickSmooth Brush attachment with two bristle types to simultaneously dry, volumize and smooth hair. The final attachment in this package is a Turbo Concentrator, for directing and concentrating the powerful airflow of the Shark SpeedStyle for fast drying and styling. All attachments securely anchor in place using a small rotation which interlocks the plastic cam pins and latches with an audible click. Attachments are quickly and easily released by the sliding Lock button on the bottom side of the upper housing. When installed on the dryer, the Turbo Concentrator rotates freely, while the QuickSmooth Brush has a copper color button on the side to release an internal latch to allow rotation of the brush to the desired angle/position. Shark also offers optional attachments including a Defrizz Fast Diffuser, an Express Touchup Brush and a Lift & Stretch Wide-Tooth Comb, all of which are sold separately. The SpeedStyle is equipped with an exceptionally long, heavy-duty power cord, spanning 8’-5”. The cord is equipped with a GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) for user safety (as required by law), and is apparently also protected by a fusible link. All of the connections on the power cord are equipped with robust strain relief. The maximum wattage of the FlexStyle is 1700 watts, which equates to a significant 14.2 amp electrical load. A very significant benefit of the Shark SpeedStyle is that it virtually eliminates the likelihood of damaging hair due to excessive heat, according to the manufacturer. The SpeedStyle is designed to precisely monitor and regulate temperature by measuring and adjusting temperature 1,000 times per second. The SpeedStyle accurately maintains temperature that is consistent, rather than widely fluctuating which can result in hair being exposed to excessively high temperatures and incurring damage. The. Temperature is never supposed to exceed 230° F and should never even approach the 302° F hair damaging temperature. I measured the SpeedStyle output at 6” from the nozzle. On the Low setting the temperature was approximately 140° F, on the Medium setting it was approximately 160°-165° F and on the High setting the temperature measured approximately 180°-185° F. The air velocity discharged by the SpeedStyle is very powerful. Of course, the unit produces noise when in operation, but even at the High speed airflow setting, the motor noise of the SpeedStyle was not uncomfortably loud, as some other hair-blowers typically are. My wife has used a great many hair styling tools and appliances throughout the years. She was very anxious to start using the Shark SpeedStyle to determine if it would actually improve upon her hair styling tasks, reduce the effort and burden, and produce superior results. My wife reviewed the printed Shark SpeedStyle Styling Guide which is included in the package, consulted the FAQs on the Shark website, and watched several Shark SpeedStyle videos on the Shark website prior to using the SpeedStyle for the first time. My wife really likes the Shark SpeedStyle. She loves how light weight and comfortable to hold it is. She was “blown away” by how powerful the airflow is on the high speed setting. She likes the SpeedStyle attachments and appreciates how easily and quickly they can be attached, adjusted or removed/changed. My wife is really enjoying the RapidGloss Finisher attachment which helps with reducing frizzy hair. The IQ feature of the SpeedStyle is very unique and helpful. Each SpeedStyle attachment has a unique profile molded into the collar section which attaches to the nozzle of the SpeedStyle Dryer. When the mechanical interlock connection is made, the SpeedStyle dryer “recognizes” which attachment has been installed, and automatically sets the Temperature setting and Airflow setting to a pre-programmed combination which is intended to be optimal for the use of that particular attachment. However, those predefined settings can be overridden by simply depressing one of the buttons to manually change Temperature or Airflow. When the SpeedStyle is operating with one of the IQ presets, the IQ lamp on the SpeedStyle is illuminated. If a change is made by the user to Temperature or Airflow, the IQ lamp is extinguished. The IQ feature worked properly most of the time, but we did find that on occasion after changing the attachment the SpeedStyle did not recognize the new attachment and stayed in manual mode with the IQ lamp off. Dismounting and remounting the attachment always corrected that problem, with the SpeedStyle using the IQ setting on the second attempt. Both of us were also very impressed with how much helpful guidance information Shark has made available for users. The printed, glossy “Styling Guide” which is included in the box with the SpeedStyle has step-by-step, photo illustrated guidance for the use of each attachment and the benefits for using each of them for their particular best styling purpose. There is also a Safety, Warranty and Troubleshooting booklet included in the box. That booklet also contains complete operating instructions, maintenance and cleaning instructions and error codes. Each section of the Guide also includes a QR Code which leads to very helpful, professionally produced demonstration videos. Shark also has a webpage dedicated to their complete collection of Shark SpeedStyle videos, including a demonstration of how to clean and maintain the SpeedStyle. My wife really appreciated being able to see demonstrations of how to achieve the best results using the SpeedStyle. They made it much easier to actually get the desired hair style. The SpeedStyle appears to be well-built of high-quality plastic materials with a solid feel. The SpeedStyle is comfortable and easy to use given the unit’s compact dimensions and light weight. The SpeedStyle weighs only approximately 1.7 lbs, and measures approximately 6.5” long x slightly less than 8” tall. We thought that it was pretty amazing how powerful and effective the compact SpeedStyle is. The rear of the horizontal section of the SpeedStyle has a perforated screen cap, which covers an internal air filter. The filter cover is easily removable with a quick twist and exposes the internal filter for cleaning with a toothbrush or other soft brush. The internal filter is also removable and washable with a weak solution of water and liquid dish detergent. Shark even produced a video demonstrating the correct procedure for accessing and cleaning the filter, which is an important part of maintaining the SpeedStyle in proper operating condition. The SpeedStyle is covered by a 2-year warranty against manufacturing defects, however if Shark replaces the unit, a fee (disclosed in the printed warranty provisions included in the box) is assessed when the replacement or exchange unit is shipped. Overall, we both think that the Shark SpeedStyle RapidGloss Finisher & High Velocity Dryer is really great. It is a powerful blow-dryer for styling and hair drying. It is compact and lightweight and easy to use without tiring. A big plus is eliminating the heat damage that is virtually impossible to avoid with many conventional blow-dryers.

Shark Speedstyle with attachments 3.5 stars 5 stars as a hair dryer 2 stars as a styling tool Would recommend as a hair dryer along, but not as a styling tool The product arrived in a nicely packed box with the dryer unit, 3 attachments, and a small pamphlet explaining the attachments. The hairdryer itself is very compact and surprisingly lightweight. This particular dryer has 6 different attachments, but the dryer only came with 3: Rapid Gloss Finisher, QuickSmooth Brush, and Turbo Concentrator. The other 3 attachments (not included) are the DefrizzFast Diffuser, Lift and Stretch Wide-Tooth Comb, and Express Touchup Brush. While the hairdryer is lightweight, the cord to the dryer probably weights as much as the hair dryer. The cord is thick and has a 2” x 3” block in the cord. I feel that the block bounced around a bit as I was using the dyer, so it can be a little awkward in smaller bathrooms or busy countertops. I used the dryer without any attachments to quickly dry my roots and dry my hair to about 80% before adding the QuickSmooth Brush. At first this attachment took some getting used to. I like the fact that you can press the button on the side to quickly spin the attachment for a different angle. The quick button makes it much easier and fast to move the attachment than detaching the brush to move it. It still took a little time to get used to the angle of the dryer with the appropriate angle of the brush to dry and style my hair. I have naturally wavy, medium-long, fine hair but I had a lot of hair. My hair dries fairly quickly without any tools, but my hair needs some styling since the curls aren’t very cute and perfect. I typically use a hot air dryer/brush to dry and style my hair. The Shark Speedstyle dries my hair MUCH faster than what I’m used to. I shaved more than half the time drying my hair – from shower to style! While using the dryer was a bit more effort from what I was used to (“L” shaped instead of a straight wand), the outcome was just the same in less than half the time! The dryer has 3 heat settings, 3 speed settings, and a cool shot. The highest heat setting gets very hot, quickly. The highest speed settings is very powerful. I used the medium heat and medium speed setting and still had quick results. I feel that the heat from the dryer didn’t damage my hair as a straight iron or curing iron would. My goal is to get the desired style from only heat drying over styling tools. Since my hair is fine, it’s quick to damage. I like the Rapid Gloss Finisher that came with the dryer. My fine hair seems to get several flyaways around my face, and the Rapid Gloss Finisher minimized this effect. The technology they put into creating this devise is awesome. I never knew such a thing existed until I tried this product. After drying and styling my hair with the QuickSmooth Brush, I attached the Rapid Gloss Finisher. I used this attachment to the hair around the frame of my face only. My hair looked smoother and sleeker and the flyaways were gone. I typically wash my hair every 2-3 days, so the Rapid Gloss Finisher works great on the in-between wash days to keep my hair looking smooth and tame. The next time I washed and dried my hair, I tried the Turbo Concentrator with a flat brush, as I’ve done with my other hair dryer. Again, the Speedstyle dryer cut my drying time in half. I tried the speed setting 3 and the heat on level 3 and it was still too powerful and too hot. I used the medium setting for heat and speed while using my hairbrush to straighten my hair. The outcome was similar to using my old hair dryer, but I saved half the time with the Speedstyle dryer. I finished the style with the Rapid Gloss Finisher to get the sleek, smooth look. My mom also tried the Speeedstyle dryer and really liked it. She has short, thick hair that is tapered at the neck. She usually uses a round brush and blowdryer to dry and style the top of her hair. She tried the dryer with no attachment and only used her round brush to style her hair. Her opinion was similar to mine. Speed and heat #3 are too hot and too powerful. She only used setting #2 for heat and speed so she had more control. The dry time was half of what she usually spends on her thick hair, and the outcome was similar to what she would get with her other blow dryer. My mom tried the Speedstyle again using the QuickSmooth Brush. Again, she had the same opinion of the attachment and dryer as I mentioned earlier. Since she is used to holding a straight, round brush and simply using the twist of a wrist to move the brush, the angle of the dryer is awkward. It took some time to get used to using the half bristled “round” QuickSmooth Brush. The dry time was half of what she was used to and the results were even better. Her hair had more volume and fullness with the attachment than it did with the brush and dryer method. She tried the cool shot as she used the attachment, and she feels that has added volume to her hair. She also only used the speed setting 2 and the heat setting 2 while drying and styling with the attachment. Overall, this product is very effective drying the hair in half the time it usually takes. It’s a small, but powerful tool. I feel it’s still a bit awkward to style the hair with the brush for medium-long length hair (and even short hair as my mom mentioned). I think I’d prefer the straight tool with attached brush for styling. I’d like to purchase the additional attachments as I’m sure the diffuser would work great with this style of tool. When I wear my hair curly, I use a diffuser with my current hair dryer. I’m curious to see if the outcome is any better with the Shark Speedstyle. I’d also like to try the Express Touchup Brush to see if that is any less awkward than the QuickSmooth Brush.

While it looks more like a traditional hairdryer, and not the air-compounding styles that have been popular in recent years… it packs-in modern technology to accurately control air temperatures to prevent damage, independent buttons for temperature and air speed, includes great styling accessories, and achieves the lightest offering in its category today. This last point seems to be the primary goal with this model. Lightweight: Many modern hairdryers are fairly heavy and Shark has created this one to come in at just 1.68 lbs, which in my measurements, includes the cord and plug. Nice. Use: As you'd expect, it works a lot like any hair dryer, but includes independent heat and speed settings, easily viewed at a glance via the LED lights on their buttons. It also offers a Cool Shot button on the front of the handle (like a trigger) which very effectively pauses the heat to allow you to cool your hair. Hair can't get clogged in this model either, as the rear inlet has a removable filter screen, ensuring the internals don't get damaged. All is well considered and easy to use. Compact: While the nozzle on this model is a bit longer than some other designs, the overall diameter of it and its handle is on the small side (~1.75”), making it easy to store this in a drawer. You’ll have to work around a somewhat bulky cable and plug, but it’s still compact, lays flat, and ready to pull out for anyone at a moment’s notice. Aesthetics: Hairdryers have gotten flashier in recent years, with some in deep purples or bright metallic pinks. This model strikes a more subtle, classy direction. While it’s mostly white, it has faceted details along the nozzle w/ chrome and rose gold tinted accents and buttons. It comes across as tasteful and slightly feminine. Accessories: This model comes with three accessories, with another three available for optional purchase. Each accessory clicks onto the front of the nozzle by inserting into a circular channel and a small rotation to lock it into place. The mechanism seems durable and should hold up. Shark advertises the RapidGloss Finisher as the primary attachment here, promising to help shine your hair as you pull it gently down under and arc of hot air and warm metal strips. It also includes a flat turbo concentrator and ‘quick smooth brush’ with is intended for brushing your hair straight while drying. Most of these features are intended to help straighten hair or control frizz. They’re well designed and appear to help in both drying and their intended roles, nicely combining a few steps and saving time. Overall, this is a great compact hair dryer. It’s light and compact, and because of that, makes a good case for making all of the attachments manageable. It converts a simple (but modern, digital, heat-monitoring dryer) into a tool to quickly straighten and manage hair while drying. Anyone would appreciate an upgrade to a dryer like this.

The Shark SpeedStyle is a good high-end hair dryer. It’s lightweight, compact, and it dries a lot more effectively than our old hair dryer. It comes with a good set of initial accessories, though I wish this version included the diffuser. In the box you get the hair dryer and finisher, brush, and concentrator attachments. The hair dryer itself is very lightweight and compact; it packs away nicely. The cord attached is a bit bulky, but at least it’s got plenty of length (at least 10ft). All of the buttons are easy to press and the mechanism for attaching and detaching accessories is solid. Adding the accessories is super easy and they snap right in with a small twist. There is an ‘IQ’ light that turns on to show that the dryer recognizes the attachment. It feels well built overall and though we haven’t dropped ours yet, it feels like it could take a fall. The hair dryer we were using previously was a much cheaper Conair and the first thing I noticed after turning on the SpeedStyle was how much quieter it was. The sound is similar to what you might hear from a cordless vacuum cleaner. It dried my wife's hair completely in a third of the time the Conair and it dried it much evenly and completely. For her hair (wavy), the diffuser attachment would have been helpful to have and I’m a little bummed this one doesn’t include one, but it is available separately from Shark. The hot setting gets really HOT and “Cool Shot” button is easy to reach, though I wish they’d have positioned the air flow buttons on the same spot as they’re a little inconvenient to get to on the lower back portion of the dryer. It does take a little while to cool down after each use, on the accessories especially. Having only used lower-end hair dryers I can’t really say how the SpeedStyle compares to other options in the price range, but we’re happy with it overall.

I do like this powerful little hair dryer. It is so powerful, you have to be careful- I accidentally aimed it at my bathroom counter and blew things right off! It does have an adjustment for fan speed and heat but I like to dry my hair and move along so I keep them both at the highest level! I have played around with the different attachments. I do like the brush. It can be rotated 90 degrees so you don't have to twist your arm to brush your hair in different directions. The other round attachment with out bristles is nice-I find I don't use it as often. It does not rotate and I have trouble getting the airflow aimed in the right direction. The thin attachment is almost TOO directed! I have also just used the hair dryer with no attachments. It does dry extremely quickly which is nice when I am in a hurry. I have to be careful to make sure I style the way I want to because with the quickness- it will be dried in that position whether you want it to be or not! I have very curly hair but I can make it very sleek with this. I may look into getting the attachment to enhance curls that did not come with my product. The unit itself is very small compared to other dryers I have had. It is light weight and easy to manuever without getting my arm tired holding it over my head! This is my go-to styler. I do wish my bundle came with the curly hair attachment but I will be ordering that separately.

Unboxing - I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the box to see how compact the hair dryer was. The dryer is well made and felt expensive. It came with three attachments that were also nicely constructed, it did not feel like cheap plastic. I would also like to add that the inner lid had quick set up instructions which was great so you don’t have to read through the instructions. The unit came with three attachments one for smoothing, a brush and focused air attachment. The dryer was very light and compact, the buttons were well placed and easy to read. The only thing is if you place your hands close to the bottom of the handle you can change the settings accidentally but you have to have your hands close to the bottom for that to occur. The power cord for the dryer is long, which is great it allows you to length just in case the outlet is further away from the mirror. The only issue I had with the power cord is that it has a box that is pretty big and adds a little weight to the dryer. It’s a good thing the dryer is light to offset the power cord weight. Hair drying - Refer to the before and after pics of the hair. It took a total of 10 minutes to dry hair which was amazing. It normally takes 20-30 minutes to dry my hair and additional time to style. The focused air attachment was used to dry the hair, followed with the brush attachment to straighten and then I followed up with the glosser. I followed the heat and fan speed settings in the book and it came out great. It gave my hair volume, plus straightened and glossed. The friz was also eliminated. My hair is medium to corse so it takes time to dry and style. This little tool styled my hair in half the time it usually takes. Overall, the attachments along with the size and reduction in time to dry and style my hair I highly recommend this hair dryer. It’s compact enough to also take on trips to continue your style while on vacation. The instruction booklet that came with the dryer is easy to follow and I love that they provide the recommended fan speed and heat settings for each style you are trying to achieve.

To be honest I’m pretty simple when it comes to hair care. I usually let it air dry and it’s not often I do much to it. I do love when I go to the stylist though and she makes my hair look amazing! I gave this Shark Smoothstyle a go. It’s actually lightweight, not too loud and has sone amazing adjustments that you can make. You can adjust the airflow, as well as the temperature of the air. I prefer a cooler airflow. This dries your hair so quickly! It’s amazing, The tools are great, easy to attach and remove. The brush has a rolling effect that helps you create a smooth curl, really, actually smooth! You won’t have to use a straightener first. The straightener attachment works well, made my hair look smooth, even my daughter noticed and said it looked good. Then there’s the Finisher. Game changer. This made my hair nice, soft, shiny looking. Just as if I’d come from the salon. Wonderful tool! If you’re in the market for a lightweight, compact, powerhouse hair tool this is it! It’s quick and easy to use and can give you results. I recommend it.

I love everything about this hairdryer. I do not know how to explain it but it works well with my small Hands. It is designed slimmer so that I have more control over where I direct the air. It is not too heavy nor is it too light weight. Even with the attachments on, It is not large and bulky. I am not constantly hitting myself in the head with it. It is perfectly designed. The cord is long so it allows me more movement. I don’t need to stay close to the mirror. The first thing I noticed when I started using the Shark SpeedStyle RapidGloss Finisher & High Velocity Drier was the fact My hair shines naturally without using additional shine product. My hair doesn’t feel as dry as it did following use of other driers and it doesn’t burn my head. This hair appliance truly takes hair drying to a higher level. I have very thick hair and this drier dries it quicker and better than any drier I have ever used. There was a learning curve for me when it came to learning how to use the included attachments. They are different than any attachments I’ve ever saw. The Rapid Gloss Finisher has become my favorite but I didn’t like it to begin with. It makes my hair smooth and shiny. I love that I no longer require so much product to be added to my hair. I love the way the way it makes my hair feel and look. So much less frizz and LOVE all that natural shine. There are several videos that I highly suggest you view before starting the journey with this drier. You can simply scan the code in the paperwork that comes with the drier to view them.

I loved this hair dryer as it's so small, compact but very bold and powerful. Powerful. Work very well with different heat settings. And extremely quiet.

I am an ex hairdresser and I feel that this hair dryer is very easy to use. It’s not heavy at all and it’s tried and it drives your hair very quickly and it’s easy to control.

This is the best hairdryer I have ever owned, well worth the almost ridiculous price tag. I never thought I would spend this much on a hairdryer, but after hearing about it from several friends, and using theirs, I had to have it. My hair is thick and long and with a normal dryer takes forever to dry, with this its 7 minutes top and I am fully dry. The tools work great too. I love it.

Excellent dryer! Wish I had known about this earlier. Even my hairdresser said that it’s a fantastic product, and she uses a Dyson. Let ve the attachments and the speed with with my hair gets dried. It’s also much quieter than any other dryer I’ve had.

Absolutely love this. I have extremely long hair and it would take me close to 20 minutes before to dry my hair, now it's dome in 10!! Definitely works in removing frizz. Would highly recommend

Bought it for the wifey for Mother’s Day and she totally loves it. I was gonna purchase the Dyson version but after watching many reviews this was by far a great steal for half the price of a Dyson. I just wish they have matching straightener, curling iron to match this product. But overall she was happy!!!

I love this dryer! Dries quickly, is more quiet than my last dryer. The smoothing attachment is amazing!
