Works really well but its a little loud
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have owned iRobot for almost 2 decades now and this is the first shark robot vacuum that I’ve purchased. The design of it is really nice and aesthetically pleasing. It’s never stuck. Functionality works really well. The vacuum functionality is a bit loud both as it vacuums and as it empties into the base, this is a comparison to the Roomba S9. The application in the mapping works extremely well. If the vacuum wasn’t as loud, I would hands-down recommend this due to the features and functions, but I don’t know if I will be keeping it to go back to Roomba. This is a really close call.

||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have 2 dogs and a toddler. When it comes to vacuums, this thing takes care of business. What type of business? The type of business where my floors don't look like a tornado ran through town. The type of business where I don't have dog hair in the four corners of my home. The type of business where goldfish disappear without a trace. Ever heard of "NeverStuck" ? Neither had I, until this thing navigated my warzone of a home without getting trapped. I've owned top tier ecovacs and roborocks that seem to have an expirtation date. This thing competes, but at a fraction of the price. I'd give it one more star if I could. Unfortunately, 5 is the limit.

My new friend
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this based on reviews and the great sale price. My Ecovac had finally stopped working and i decided an updated model was due! It is big and the base is large so i had to be okay with losing that space. I have different services, rugs, and obstacles. This vacuum is great with all that. I am surprised by how much it picks up. Its a little louder while cleaning than my last one but not horrible. I can still hear music, tv, or talk on phone without increasing volume. It is VERY loud when it empties into the base but that doesn’t last long. It goes right back to base when cycle completed. Does become slightly dumb if you try to end cycle early and send back to base but that could be my house layout confusing the signal. Overall, love and very happy!

Not for houses with long dog hair
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We have had this robot vacuum for almost a year and honestly I am disappointed. We previously had the most basic roomba vacuum and after 6 years were ready to upgrade due to how loud it was, the constant inconvenience of having to empty it, and the time it took to clean and missing spots since it did not map our home. We spent over a week comparing and reviewing all the robot vacuums and thought this was would be the winner. My issues with this vacuum is, while it was much quieter in the beginning, it is now just as loud as our previous for unknown reasons. We have a lovesac sactional and frequently change the position/style and have had issues with reconfiguring the mapping either missing areas, not completing the mapping, or just how long it takes to remap. The wheels that move with the change of floor or going over a rug, often leave massive piles of dog hair on our rug and do not self vacuum back up and recently noticed dog hair gets stuck in between the wheels making it extremely difficult to remove. I don't recommend this vacuum if you have long haired dogs. I wish we would have just went with another roomba at this point. I don't recommend.

Posted .Hi Michael,
Thank you for sharing your experience with the Shark PowerDetect Self-Empty Robot Vacuum. We appreciate the time and research you put into choosing a new robot vacuum, and we’re sorry to hear that it hasn’t lived up to your expectations.
The increase in noise level and challenges with mapping can be frustrating, especially when you were looking for an upgrade. Regular maintenance, such as cleaning the sensors, emptying the dustbin, and checking for debris around the wheels and brushroll, can help improve performance. If pet hair is getting stuck between the wheels, using compressed air or a soft brush may help loosen it for easier removal.
We’d love to assist in troubleshooting these concerns to help optimize your vacuum’s performance. Our support team is available at 1-888-228-5531, and we’d be happy to go over possible solutions.
Your feedback is important, and we’ll be sure to share it with our product development team as we continue to improve our designs.
Kind regards,
Shark Clean

Great piece of machinery
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve have it for a few weeks not. It is working great. I love coming home from work to nice clean floors. I had different brand before this one and it worked good too but kept getting stuck on my furniture. This one hasn’t gotten stuck yet. It also does great with the obstacle avoidance. It I accidentally leave my cats food plate down, it just works right around it. My last one would completely run it over.

Convenient daily cleaner
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Setup was quick & easy. First mapping run took about 15 minutes or so and seemed fairly accurate. Struggled a bit adding multiple no-go zones to the map. I’d add a 2nd one, but it would disappear after saving & coming back into the map. It did eventually add the 2nd one, so maybe I was just moving through too fast or something. The no-go zones only go as small as about 2.7 feet by 2.7 feet, so you might have to play around if you have a need for smaller zones that may be adjacent to an area that needs to be cleaned. Scheduling lets you select any day of the week, along with a single time period for each day, but it still won’t let you schedule specific rooms - it’s the whole house or nothing. This would be convenient to have the robot clean a home office every Saturday (when you’re not in there), but the rest of the house (excluding the office) M-F. If you happen to have multiple Shark vacuums, the app will let you have separate schedules for each vacuum. Alexa integration works fine. I was able to just have ‘Alexa ask Shark to start <robot name>’ and it started cleaning right away. Asking it to clean a specific room bombed out though. Does a fair job of avoiding pet toys and random cords on the floor. Fortunately, I haven’t had the opportunity to see how well it avoids pet ‘messes’... Everyday cleaning performance is fine. Not spectacular, but more than acceptable considering it’s pretty self-sufficient. Did a little test with sugar & flour; handled the sugar just fine but struggled with the flour. The ‘DirtDetect’ feature did sense the sugar, so it increased suction & made an extra pass, as advertised. The ‘NeverStuck’ technology has also worked well, so far. It’s managed to avoid/escape a few specific areas that have sometimes trapped a few other robot vacuum cleaners, so props there. Overall, it might be a good choice if you don’t need super flexible scheduling & don’t want to drop an extra 3 bills to get into one of the main competitions' units. Robot vacs, in general, aren’t cheap, but they can be SO convenient.

A Smart and Powerful Cleaning Companion
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My cleaning routine has been completely transformed by the Shark Detect Pro Self-Emptying Robot Vacuum, and I couldn't be happier with what I got. This sleek, contemporary appliance immediately captured my attention with its style and features. The self-emptying feature is the biggest game-changer. The need to regularly check the vacuum's dirt bin or empty it after each cleaning session is no longer necessary. My house is easily navigated by the Shark Detect Pro, which efficiently collects dirt, dust, and debris. In order to make sure it is always prepared for the following cleaning session, it goes back to its base station to unload its contents after it is finished. Just this convenience has helped me save a ton of time and work. The Shark Detect Pro delivers exceptional performance. It can effortlessly navigate around furniture and other obstacles because to its sophisticated sensors and navigational system, getting to even the most difficult-to-reach places. My floors are left immaculate and allergen-free thanks to its successful catch of pet hair, crumbs, and other contaminants with its strong suction. Its object detection enabled by AI is one of its distinguishing characteristics. The wires, shoes, and pet toys that are typical household obstructions that our robot vacuum can recognize and avoid. It's amazing to see how it smoothly maneuvers around these objects without becoming stuck, assuring uninterrupted cleaning. The user friendly Shark app, which works in conjunction with the Shark Detect Pro, provides a number of customisation possibilities. Using my smartphone, I can schedule cleanings, change the cleaning settings, and even monitor the robot's progress in real time. Additionally, it offers a thorough cleaning history and maintenance notifications, making it simple to maintain the vacuum's performance. The Shark Detect Pro's battery life is sufficient, enabling it to clean several rooms on a single charge. And if it ever runs out of power, it intelligently goes back to its base station to refuel before continuing to clean. Thanks to the easily accessible brush roll and washable filters, maintenance is a breeze. The robot vacuum is easy to maintain because it comes with spare components and detailed instructions. Considering its strong suction, the Shark Detect Pro is relatively quiet in terms of noise. Your daily activities or chats won't be disturbed. The Shark Detect Pro may appear expensive at first, but the time and effort it saves you and the excellent cleaning results it provides make it well worth the cost. I cant see switching back to traditional vacuuming now that it has become a necessary part of my daily routine. The Shark Detect Pro is the best option if you're looking for a top of the line robot vacuum that provides ease, intelligence, and great cleaning power.

Decent Performance, But Expensively Barebones
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.UNBOXING: The unboxing experience of the Shark Detect Pro robot vacuum is pretty straight-forward. Inside the box, you’ll find the robot vacuum, the dock, 2 side brushes (one of which is a spare), and an odor puck which plugs into the dock. One thing I didn’t love is the use of plastic peels to protect the robot and dock. Compared to the competition, I think Shark’s use of plastic is pretty excessive these days and I’d like to see more eco-friendly packaging. But regardless, the unboxing experience was intuitive and there are graphics explaining how to get started. BUILD: The overall build is plastic across both the robot and the dock. The robot has some glossy plastic atop, and I’m not really sure why Shark chose to do this because glossy plastic ends up developing scratches over time. You also have 2 buttons on the robot for docking and cleaning, and it employs a LIDAR sensor atop the unit for mapping out your home. Under the robot are 2 wheels with a self-lifting mechanism to navigate over some larger door strips or thicker rugs, main and side brushes, a battery door, and cliff sensors to prevent the robot from going over stairs. Meanwhile, the docking station has the dust bin, a HEPA filter slot, the dial for the odor puck, and of course the charging contacts. CLEANING FEATURES: The robot itself has a main brush on the bottom as well as one side brush on the right side. These days, many robot vacuums have two side brushes, so I think it’s a little strange that Shark doesn’t have this. The main brush on the bottom has soft bristles which means it should be good at picking up loose debris and shouldn’t scratch up hard floors, but you should also not expect it to pick up sticky messes. This should also be good for The side brush is mostly relevant for picking up loose debris close to walls and corners, but is less helpful if your primary purpose is on carpet mostly because these side brushes tend to just get warped or bent from friction against carpet versus against a smooth floor. In that case, it’s best to just remove the side brush and stick to using the main brush. The Detect Pro doesn’t appear to rotate the side brush while on carpet, but it’ll likely still come out a bit bent up on carpet. SETUP: The setup experience was overall pretty seamless. You can download the app and run through the guided setup process that helps you connect the robot to your home WiFi. The Detect Pro solely connects to 2.4GHz networks. This is fine for me since I have my wireless router configured with a separate 2.4GHz SSID for devices like this, but those who have a single SSID with a dual band router may have to create a separate SSID with only 2.4GHz WiFi if they run into issues trying to connect to their network. Once I got it connected, it guided me through a checklist to ensure I didn’t have any obstacles or loose cables in the way, and off to mapping my house! Well…not quite. My vacuum arrived with less than 40% battery, and you cannot begin mapping out until at least 50%. I opted to wait a couple hours until it reached 100% battery, and then began the mapping. First time mapping is a good experience as long as you don’t have any loose cables. The Detect Pro did a good job exploring my floor plan and once it finished exploring, it made it easy for me to identify rooms on the map, and even set virtual boundaries for areas I didn’t want cleaned due to obstacles. ROBOT PERFORMANCE: I’ve let the Detect Pro run on schedule daily for several days and thus far, I would say it does a good job. It hasn’t gotten stuck, my floors look clean, and there is no foul stench thanks to the HEPA filter and odor puck. One thing to note with many robot vacuums is that they tend to scuff/scratch up pretty quickly, and this one is really no exception. After only the first run I saw light scratch marks on the bumpers of the vacuum likely from grazing walls, bumping objects, etc. This is pretty commonplace across my experiences with numerous robot vacuums, but something to be aware of for newcomers making a first-time robot vacuum purchase. Most of my testing is done on thinner carpet, and it performs pretty well. Checking the dust bin in the docking station, there are dust bunnies present and I’m sure within a few weeks I’ll want to empty it out. During operation, the sound of the Detect Pro has more motor noise than I’ve heard on other vacuums. The vacuum seems like a pretty consistent noise, but there’s something else that gives off a bit of a clicking sound and I’m not entirely sure what it is. Once the cleaning session is over, the robot docks with ease and self-empties into the dustbin onboard the docking station. The only time I had an issue was when a small piece of 3D printer filament got stuck while the robot was emptying its onboard dustbin. Once I removed it from the robot, it was able to dock and charge without issue. As far as emptying the dustbin, it’s pretty easy. Press the button on top of the docking station to unlock the dustbin, and you can pull the dustbin out. Then bring it over to your trashcan and there’s a little latch on the side of the dustbin that you simply press to unlatch. The bottom door will swing open and all the dust will fall out into your trashcan. This system is very similar to many modern handheld cordless vacuums, and since there are no disposable bags to worry about, it saves on some waste, although some people might dislike that dust may embark into the air when you unlatch the bin. In any case, I don’t mind this system since it means I don’t have to buy more disposable bags. APP FEATURES: The app gives you the ability to add multiple robots, create schedules, start a cleaning for certain rooms, perform spot-cleaning, and also ping the robot in case it’s stuck and you can’t find it. These are all pretty common features on many robots, but the Detect Pro is still missing a good number of features that other robots have. After setup, you can still edit your map, but you cannot add multiple map layouts, which means the Detect Pro isn’t a good option for those who want to use it across multiple floors since it will force you to re-explore the map if you move it. For example, while you can schedule cleanings for every day of the week, you can only schedule 1 cleaning per day (at whatever time you want), but each scheduled clean is for the entire home. For many people, this might be fine, but for many others, they might want certain parts of their floorplan cleaned at different times of the day. Maybe the office is in the evening after a full day of working from home, and maybe the kitchen needs to be cleaned just after lunch, and perhaps there’s a guest bedroom that needs to be cleaned only a couple times per week. The SharkClean app simply doesn’t allow this kind of versatility, and it’s probably one of the biggest limiting factors right now. In the app under the Schedule section, there is a Support FAQ where Shark addresses this limitation and suggests they “may possibly” add the ability to schedule by rooms or schedule multiple times per day, but they don’t express a commitment towards it, so at the time of writing this review, I wouldn’t purchase the Detect Pro if this feature is important to you. And looking back at some of their older robot vacuums with very similar features, reviews for those products shared this exact same feedback. This Detect Pro seems like a minor revision without significant feature improvements. Another thing that is perhaps a little surprising to me is that there is no way to view the current location or progress of your robot vacuum. Perhaps you’re out running errands, but are expecting to have guests over soon and you begin a cleaning session. The app can only tell you that a cleaning is in progress, but it doesn’t actively tell you how much time has elapsed, where it has cleaned thus far, or where the robot is located. Once a clean is finished, you can look at the history to see the area cleaned on the map, the runtime, and even a timeline of events, but I’d like to see more of these things in realtime to cover the use-case I previously exemplified above. CONCLUSION: Overall, I think Shark has a good start on their app and their physical hardware, but I felt it was too limited for the asking price. I’ve seen competing devices with more features and at a lower price. That being said, I think that for the features the Detect Pro does have, they are quite intuitive and easy-to-use. Unfortunately, the Detect Pro does not get a recommendation from me because the competition is mature, more feature rich and still competitively priced. In my experience, there are older products that can do way more than the Detect Pro and those older products still tend to come with significant savings. However, if you want something fairly barebones that is simple and elegant to use without a bunch of advanced software features, the Detect Pro will be happy to charge you a premium for that.

Performance w/ Quiet Operation and Good Features
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Shark Detect Pro Self-Emptying Robot Vacuum (RV2820AE) is Shark’s latest refresh to their robovac lineup. I have been a user of Shark home cleaning products for years and even have an earlier robovac that is still putting in some work. The Detect Pro utilizes the same Shark Clean app I have been using for years, so I was already familiar with the setup and configuration process. Design and Features The Detect Pro follows the traditional round design of most robovacs with its sensor suite houses in the central disc on the top. The vacuum itself measures 13.5Ø” x 4.5”. The base is 13.25W x 14H x 8.5D”, and the depth increases to 18.75” when the vacuum is docked with the base. The roller head width is 5.75,” and its side brushes collect debris from the remaining width. On top of the robot is a small LED bar that indicates battery life as well as the Wi-Fi status, and error indicator. There is also a light on the the top front edge of the dock that indicates whether the vacuum’s docking and charging status. There are also 2 buttons at the top – clean and dock. The front of the vac has the sensor array (object and cliff detectors) which faces out from the dock while charging. The rear contains the removable dustbin with a washable screen and a removable paper filter. The dustbin pulls off by squeezing the tabs on either side while pulling it out, and it opens up by pulling on the spots indicated on the bin. The dustbin is washable, but only after pulling out the removable filter. On the underside is the roller, which is easily removable for any cleaning or service. The roller is self-cleaning via a row of “teeth” inside the roller housing, which works well at pulling off and removing hair and tangles. The base features a bagless dirt container, which is a very welcome feature. This container will need to be emptied periodically as needed, but it saves you the hassle and cost of buying bags. Setup The setup process is very easy to follow and takes only a few minutes. After unpacking and removing all of the shipping plastic you need to find a suitable location for its base with a few feet of clearance around it. The app takes you through this setup process and covers what to do next. From there you plug the dock in, and turn the vacuum on. I initially plugged the dock in and left the vac on it to charge, but I found that the vac won’t charge unless it’s been turned on first. From there I pressed and held both buttons to initialize the Wi-Fi setup. I had no issue connecting to my Wi-Fi 6 based network, which has both 2.4, 5, and 6GHz bands all on the same SSID. Once it was connected to my Wi-Fi the app had me name the vac and set some parameters for the cleaning mode. After that it did an initial cleaning run and mapped my house at the same time. My prior Shark vac required 2 scanning passes of my house before it could map it, which took a few hours. This was a much faster setup process. Once the map was setup I went into the app to define my rooms and add no-go zones. If you aren’t satisfied with the mapping you can have it re-explore and generate an updated map. Defining the rooms or different spaces is useful for identifying cleaning in high traffic areas. For me I also defined an area rug that seems to be a magnet for dog fur. There is a limit to this, which is the smallest area the app can define is about 7.6 x 7.6 ft. Cleaning I have 2 very furry and currently shedding huskies at home. They are generating as much pet fur as possible, and my kids contribute their requisite amount of crumbs and debris as well. I have well trafficked medium pile carpet, hardwood, tile, and dense medium pile area rugs. As far as movement goes the Detect Pro does a really good job navigating my house. It handles just fine with areas like doorway transitions, edge of the steps, normal chair legs, and area rug transitions. The vacuum has 3 modes – Eco, Normal, and Max. Suction is also adjusted automatically based on floor type and dirtiness. The vacuum will make multiple passes over a dirtier-than-normal area as it detects increased debris collection. I keep the suction level on Max due to the dog hair, and its able to clean my whole upstairs in a single charge. Cleaning time was around an hour for my upstairs, which has about 650sqft of cleanable area. As far as the cleaning areas go you can select where you want to clean (spot, room(s), or the whole house). It was fairly simple to send the vac out to do a single room. Same goes for the spot clean option, which cleans a 7.5 x 7.5ft area of your choice on your house map. Both room and spot clean options give you the choice of a regular clean or Matrix clean. Matrix clean has the vacuum work a grid over the area – left to right, and up and down. Cleaning performance on hardwood and tile was excellent. The side brush and brush roll picked up everything in its path. The side brush did a very good job getting around the edging as well. On my carpet and area rugs the performance was on par with my other robot vacs and even my Shark and Dyson cordless stick vacs. That’s not to say it’s perfect though. My regular carpets clean up decently well, but my area rugs really hold it in. I have to use a rubber carpet rake to really get the hair up, and what was left was still a substantial amount. This is true for almost all of the vacuums (Shark, Dyson, Bissell) and robo vacs (Neato, Ecovacs, Samsung, Shark) I have used. These vacuums had one thing in common which is a more traditional brush roller design. These rollers are great for hardwood, tile, and some carpet types. My area rugs just appear to be resistant. Vacuums and robovacs with rubber rollers (like my Roomba J7+) do a better job getting fur up, but that’s because it’s mimicking what my carpet rake does. You lose some hardwood and tile performance with the rubber rollers, so there are trade-offs. While cleaning I did notice that this vacuum was by far the quietest robovac I have ever used. I couldn’t even hear it running, so I had to go check to make sure it was. I ran it while on a work call without any issue, which is definitely not easy with my other vacuums. The emptying process was also notably quieter. My J7+ is exceptionally loud in comparison (shop-vac noise level). This is the first robovac I have used that doesn’t make me want to toss on headphones to drown it out. I ran into one issue with it on the base of an IKEA Poang chair – the vacuum could not climb over the base, and it also refused to quit trying. It spent 10+ min trying to drive over it to no avail before I had to pick the chair up and move it. It couldn’t figure out that it needed to just drive around and go through the wide opening in the base. This chair has somehow become my litmus test for robovacs. They either fail to climb it by getting stuck on top of the base, fail and never give up (like here), fail to climb but figure out how to go around to the opening in the base, or succeed in climbing it. My Neato D7 has been the only vacuum to climb it without much issue because it is also part tank. The other 5 vacs I have used all got stuck or gave up trying in one manner or another. I keep hoping that another vac will rise to the challenge. Overall, the Detect Pro has a lot going for it. It navigates my house well and doesn’t get easily stuck – thresholds and high area rug transitions were no problem. I was very happy with how quiet the vacuum operated and emptied itself, which I believe to be one of its best features. The bagless self-emptying base is also a welcome feature because it saves money, keeps more trash out of landfills, and its more convenient. I was very happy with the vacuum performance on the majority of my surfaces, with only a slight knock on the dog fur left behind on my area rugs. I can’t really fault the vac for struggling on the same surface as all my other vacs. At the end of the day I am happy with the performance out of this little robot.

Great Bagless Self-Emptying Vacuum
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. At this point I would consider myself to be pretty well-versed in robot vacuums, as this model is my fifth. Therefore, I have a good idea of what to expect and where improvements have been made. The setup directions are easy to follow; only a phone and internet connection is needed. The vacuum's first run creates a map - you evaluate whether or not it's accurate. It took my vacuum about 20 minutes to map a 1000-sq ft space with multiple rooms. I found it to be fairly accurate. I was also able to easily map the rooms and add no-go zones. On my device's first run, I noticed that it did an outline of the room and then covered the entire area by creating close zigzags. I was impressed that it vacuumed faster than other devices I've owned. I can tell that this vacuum has improved upon previous models, as it seemed to doubly concentrate on more soiled areas by slowing down. I was also pleased that this is still a bagless system. However, the bumper guard's left side seemed to touch furniture and walls more frequently than the right. I plan to look deeper into the settings to see if there's a reason for this. It also appeared that the center of the vacuum has a taller profile than competitors', making it difficult to get under some furniture. Pros: quick, easy to map and set up boundaries, thorough cleaning of soiled areas Cons: contact with walls/furniture, taller profile Based on my previous history with Shark, I appreciate its reliability and bagless system as a cost saver. I recommend this model for anyone looking for an automated cleaning system that does a thorough job.

Vacuum that Never gets Lost
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Finally a robot vacuum that doesn’t get stuck or lost! The most annoying thing about robot vacuums is that they get stuck or lost and can’t find their base. I’ve spent way too much time looking under beds, under desk and behind doors trying to find my previous robot vacuums. This Shark Detect Pro has none of those issues. I start the cleaning and it always finds it’s way back to the base and fully docks to empty the dirt and recharge. Pros: - Creates maps quickly and accurately - Doesn’t get lost or stuck and always finds the base - Base dust bin is bagless – for those who don’t like to buy extra bags - Dirt Detect provides extra cleaning in the dirtiest areas - Good Object detection and Avoidance - Shark App is easy to install and generally easy to use for simple tasks Cons: - Base dust bin is bagless - for those who don’t like to clean out the inside of dust bin - Shark App doesn’t send notifications to the phone when the vacuum is complete Setup and Use: After unboxing and fully charging the vacuum I downloaded the app. The first step is to have the vacuum accurately map out the entire floor plan. It does this fairly quickly and I was impressed with how accurate the mapping was. Once the mapping is complete you can name your rooms and create go/no-go areas. Next I sent the vacuum out on several cleaning runs throughout the week. On the carpeting it leaves the typical robot vacuum markings so it is easy to verify that the rooms have all been vacuumed. This isn’t a bump and run style vacuum, it systematically vacuums in rows for the most part. When the vacuum detects higher levels of dirt it will re-vacuum the area until it no longer detects the dirt. You can also pick specific areas to power vacuum using the app. If you don’t like using the app you can also just press the Clean button on the top of the vacuum. There is also a Dock button if you want to send the vacuum back to the dock early. This vacuum has a charge and resume function where it will return to base to recharge if it hasn’t completed the entire cleaning project. When the vacuum completes the cleaning it finds the dock and then empties the dirt bin into the base. The base has two filters that need to be cleaned monthly. Emptying the dirt bin from the base is easy and straight forward however I did notice that some dirt builds up around the screens in the bin and have to be cleaned manually. App: The Shark App is fairly easy to set up. After the first mapping you can go in and label the rooms and go/no-go zones. You can also set up a Matrix cleaning area where the vacuum will run on high which is especially useful if you have pets or specific areas that get extra dirty. From the app you can start the cleaning, monitor the job and select the cleaning power of the vacuum. It also stores the history of the cleaning jobs and also allows you schedule future cleaning projects. My one gripe about the app is that I don’t get notifications when the vacuum project is completed. Overall the app doesn’t wow me but it does provide the basic set up and control functions and is intuitive for the most part.

Bribe the dog to love this thing, it's worth it!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I used to have a robot vacuum for years we called SAM that we would use regularly when going out of town, after picking all the things off the ground first and making sure no rugs were bunched up, and it was an amazing feeling to come home to those fresh vacuum lines all over the floor. Unless it got stuck on something. Then it was just frustrating knowing that you had to find where it lifted its backside and died, carry it back to the charger, and hope it works better next time. We ultimately put the old one in our storage locker because we adopted a house hippo (dog) and she was petrified of the sentient vacuum that would come for her when she or a toy would bump into it! One of the two had to go away, it was obviously our beloved SAM the vacuum. Then I decided to give it another try with a Shark "NeverStuck," and see if that was true... This thing is absolutely AMAZING! The setup was incredibly easy, you don't even have to check for the instructions (QR code to the app, even easier, still don't know if the printed manual is in the box)! After downloading the app, it walks you through a simple setup process of the actual vacuum and dock, then to the account creation. You'll be asked to name your robot; you can choose from a long list of preselected names or choose your own. We went with "Meryl Sweep" because much like its namesake's character in "The Devil Wears Prada," Meryl Sweep is confident, effective, slightly feared (by our dog), and 'speaks' quietly so YOU must pay attention to hear them! The Detect Pro also looks sharp and demands attention with its sleek design! The self-emptying part is nice, not really "self-emptying" because you do have a dustbin to empty, but it is much larger than other robot vacuums, almost the same size as a lot of stick vacuums! The emptying process between Meryl and the base is quite loud, you will know when the vacuum is docked and emptying its bin if you're in the room. We've been trying to get this thing stuck, too. We don't pick up charging cords, dog toys are left where they were, blankets draped off the couch onto the floor, loose bunched up rugs of different heights, even intentional blockades under the couch! Nothing! It just keeps going! I'm sure it has something to do with the initial mapping of the floor, but even with that, it's going places it completely missed or were covered during the initial mapping! Overall, though, a solid investment to keep our main level cleanly vacuumed! I'd recommend it if you're willing to splurge a bit, though the price is still a good value for everything it does. P.S. Remember to bribe to dog to become friends with it, we covered ours in treats, gradually having it do more of its normal movements and cleaning tasks while covered in treats. After about two weeks, our pup is looking forward to the stationary treats while Meryl is at its base, still not a fan of the vacuuming, but mostly leaves it alone.

Obsessed!
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I will start with saying this is my first robot vacuum. I’ve always been hesitant bc my cats leave toys and other strings and random things all over the floor & I always assumed I would still have to vacuum anyway bc the robot won’t get into the little corners…well I was wrong. When I saw that this vacuum has higher object detection capabilities, I knew I had to try it (I’ve been researching for a few months now) I have LVP flooring & my cats track litter so I vacuum twice a day. I have not pulled my Dyson out even once since I’ve received this. It gets everything, under the cabinets & furniture and even works itself around the dining room table and chairs really well. It even climbs up onto the base of the cat tree! In two weeks it hasn’t gotten caught on anything! I thought for sure it would get tangled in the Christmas tree skirt, nope! And it is faux fur! It got up on it and vacuumed it (not perfectly) but it made its way off without any issues even though it left the skirt a little messy, it’s totally fine! Also, after I set up the Christmas tree, glitter was everywhere!!! I had to run out to get more lights so I decided to run the vacuum while I was gone just to help (I had low expectations) but I came home and the floors were spotless, I could not believe my eyes! So as far as vacuuming efficiently & avoiding obstacles this thing does an amazing job! Set up was simple, mapped the house on the second try. Battery life is great also. I run it twice a day AM & PM and it takes 90 min each time. I also have it run the laundry room where the litter box is another two or three times a day which takes about 10 min each time. Battery is always at least 80% full. I’ve had it two weeks and I just had to empty the bin for the first time. Also I might add that I have long carpet in the bedrooms and it does that very well and leaves nice lines on the carpet. The only thing I wish this had was Alexa compatibility bc I’ll survive lol My only regret is not getting it sooner!
