I bought this item after getting the Dyson one , if you have thick and curly hair this is the one . Is big is quick and is good. I returned the Dyson one because it doesn’t worth paying 600$ if you’re taking an hour to do you hair. The price for this one is reasonable and the quality is good . I recommend this product.

The Shark Smooth Style is fabulous. I am that person could get the style I want at the hairdresser, but I did not have the skills nor the dexterity to replicate it at home. To that end, I was intrigued with these type of units that were more than just a blow dryer or a curling iron. Many years ago, on one of those shopping channels, I saw a first saw a heated, paddle brush-like device that the user could heat up that came with heat resistant gloves because the unit got so hot that it would be impossible to otherwise use. The gloves were bulky when using and it was not the best experience.Over the years, there have been many iterations of these type of devices. Many of them would get stuck in your hair and present a big mess to get them detached, trying to unroll the barrel, and get it out without pain and loss of hair. I truly love both the wet and dry style features. The first time that I used this styler, I used it on dry mode. I am 64 and my hair is thinning out, unfortunately. The dry mode only has one area on the barrel handle to turn to. Once you put it on that setting, a yellow light is engaged to let you know that the styler is turned on and heating up-you do not have a choice of temperature settings. Then, when the machine is ready to go, 420 degrees, that light turns green to let you know that you are good to go. This machine has a stay cool tip on the end of the barrel so that the user can then hold the barrel with both hands, whether the barrel is rolled up in place to create the wave or curl, or just pulling it through their hair. My hair never pulls or is trapped on the barrel-it easily releases without incident or pain. I love the ease with which that I can smooth and put fullness in my hairstyle. I use this machine almost every day even though I do not wet and wash my hair daily. However, I have used it to dry my hair, too. The instructions say to use it on wet mode when your hair is about 70% dry. I do not know a percentage of when my hair is dry, but I let it sit and air dry for a while and brush through my hair so it has no tangles because the instructions want that done before use-do not depend on the bristles of the barrel to do that for you. So, on the wet mode, there are 3 possible air temperature settings to use-low, medium, and high. Just so you know, the combs are on in the wet hair mode and on in the wet hair mode. I really do love styling with this machine. It does the job in minimum time without high end skill.

Can easily add volume by the way you brush and straighten with the heated ceramic plates. Your hair does need to be nearly 70% dry and detangled before using this heated comb. The 3 settings for drying are fantastic and work fast. Easily adds volume using these settings. Makes it a ton easier to use than a brush in one hand and a hairdryer in the other. Dry mode is great for smoothing and takes about 2 minutes to preheat the ceramic plates on the side. It’s nearly as good as my flat iron but not quite a flat iron replacement. Overall, I am very happy with this 2 in 1 and would recommend it to my friends and family.

The Shark SmoothStyle Heated Comb Straightener and Smoother (Shark) is a godsend for those quick styling needs. The powered hair dryer is unlike any hair dryer I’ve used before. In traditional hair drying, brushing and styling require a brush and a hair dryer at the same time to gain style and volume. This two-handed juggle, which I am all too familiar with, can be quite a morning chore when you run late for work. Wet hair would be painfully straightened if it's not tangled already, and warm air would be blown over the strands of hair as the water evaporates before styling can commence. Generally, you want to have detangled hair that is damp, not wet, but the more hair you have, the harder it is to dry it before you can attempt to style it. This ends up having to use small sections of hair to be parted out, dried, and styled. It's a painful, laborious process. The Shark smooth style heated brush has a nice party trick that goes past the two-handed styling I have been doing for so long; the dryer has a brush built into it. Unlike other devices on the market, many of which rotate, the Shark Smooth Style heated brush does not rotate. There are 2 sides to the brush; one must use the brush and manually turn the handle to continue to dry and style your hair. One advantage of the shark is that you can dry the roots easier than just the surface of the hair, going from the top in the traditional methods. In terms of heat put out, the heat through the brush is gentle; even at high heat, it did not seem to cook my hair, and the hair comes out styled naturally. The diffused airflow through the brush helps the hair dry faster. It seems that it dries the hair faster than my previous methods. The big update this brush brings to the party is the dry styling brush. I would typically use a flat iron or a curling wand to style dry hair. Each of these devices is laborious to use to get results that stick. There is no doubt about it: given the time you put into using a flat iron or a curling wand to set your style, it looks better. However, they could be more helpful when you want to do a quick touch-up on your style before you head out to the bars for happy hour. The wider shark brush head is quicker and more effective for styling your hair than using a flat iron or a curling wand. I found the dry styling mode very useful, and I use this one a lot. Leaving the office, I can quickly brush and style my hair to remove the frizz and style it for that just-left-the-salon look. It worked miracles when I first tried it after getting the unit. My dry, unkempt hair was quickly brushed and styled for a date night. The pictures show the proof, and that was just a few minutes. The purple-pink heated plates act similar to a flat iron but allow you to style it through while brushing. I also like that I can hold the ‘head’ of the brush, as there is an excellent small handle on the far end of the brush that stays cool to allow you to use both hands if necessary. The hair-drying unit is made of high-grade plastics. The comb is solid and rigid and won't break easily. The controls are easy to understand and use. The brush head heating time is not very long when you use the dry mode. Overall, the brush is a must-have for any man or woman with long hair. I wish this unit were 110/220v auto-ranging, as I do travel, and this would be a perfect travel brush to carry. I commend Shark for their styling video tutorials on effectively using their product; it was very well received and much appreciated. There are several videos for different hair types, videos on how to clean and maintain your brush, and a styling guide. So if you have long hair or you know someone with long hair, this Shark SmoothStyle Heated Comb Straightener and Smoother is a must-have.

Shark - SmoothStyle Heated Comb Straightener and Smoother, Dual Mode, Blow Dryer Brush + Straightener is amazing! This is my 1st time “owning” one of these…. I tried another brand a few months ago and it just smoked so that went back!! I was leery trying another one but SO glad I did!! I also have to say that I own the Shark HyperAir blow dryer and I love that – so I was excited to try this Shark product. I am a huge Shark vacuum product so needless to say I am a fan!! This item was packaged really well and so simple to unpackage and use. Let me start by saying there are 4 settings, Low, Medium, High that use hot air to dry your hair. Then there is a 4th setting that is a Dry Hair Mode that uses heated areas to smooth dry hair. The smooth mode changes colors as it heats up and when it is green it is ready to go. There are a few little styling guides included so that was helpful. I have naturally wavy/curly hair and blow-dry and straighten it like every 2nd or 3rd day. I try to avoid over drying my hair, hence not an everyday washer/dryer gal. The quick styling tips were helpful that took you from wet hair mode to dry hair mode easily. Tips for curly hair are to use smoothing products and small sections for drying. There is a Dry Hair Mode that is really useful at the end of just drying your hair or on day 2 or 3 to refresh your hair. It uses a heated smoothing comb area of the item to heat and restyle/refresh your hair. There is a great little cool-touch tip to help hold and control the dryer/styler which is a wonderful help because the unit is a little heavy. The area near the controls and cord is the air inlet area so be careful not to cover that with your hand. You have to get used the weight of using a single item to dry and style your hair instead of a round brush in one hand and the dryer in the other. I have had wonderful results using this and would highly recommend it for anyone who has collar length hair or longer. It has a pretty large size brush area so probably not good for shorter hair. Mine is pretty much one length to my shoulders so it works really well. It comes with a two year limited warranty so don’t forget to register it with Shark!

Shark SmoothStyle Heated Comb Straightener and Smoother The Shark Smoothstyle combines the features of my favorite hair dryer and hair brush to make styling an easier morning activity with just one tool. I achieve a similar final result, but it’s faster with a bit more control. With my current summer length, shorter hairstyle, I found it more challenging to wrap my hair around this larger brush. I can readily see that with shoulder length or longer hair, this stying tool offers even greater satisfaction. The SmoothStyler really shines with my daughter’s thicker, longer hair. Some added comments: This SmoothStyle tool is heavier than my usual hair dryer so I find holding the tip of the device using my other hand helps keep the process comfortable. The user guide recommends and illustrates this. It is very easy to manipulate around my head, but holding that end tip is the key. The heat designations are pretty accurate and reach their heat setting quickly. Low is truly low. Medium is distinctively medium. And hot is very hot, and maybe too hot for me. And, finally, there is one more “dry hair” mode that heats the purple, ceramic coated, smooth combs up to a still higher temperature but with NO air flow. I measured heat settings using an uncalibrated infrared thermometer. I measured readings at all 3 fan blown settings: low=98F; medium:146F; high: 205F and the so-called “dry hair” mode, fan off, at 320F (after letting the indicator light turn green). If you are switching FROM the “dry hair” mode, the purple combs retain very high heat for a minute or more even though the instructions are correct in saying they are now off in the wet hair modes. (moisture turns to steam at 212F, so be careful) The multi-dimensional, large or small bristles are distributed in a way that you can choose one or the other fairly easily by rotating the tool in your hand. Noise level. Pretty loud and at a frequency (tone) that’s high pitched and annoying. I’m going to suggest using effective earplugs or your better noise cancelling earbuds. This should be mandatory if you expect to be around this styler for long stretches of time. I used a phone (uncalibrated) sound level App from dB, which showed an average 96dB level, which the App compares to the level of food blender. I’d agree. And this device is always really close to your ear. Use earplugs, my friends. Recommendation: The Shark SmoothStyler does what it promises, and rather well at that. I think the longer your hair, the more you’ll appreciate it. It does have some issues, but none of them should be a surprise. Heat, noise, and some weight concerns, can be addressed with this decent styling/drying tool, and keep a set of earplugs in the bathroom vanity.

I am a man with long hair. Daily, I style my hair with a rolling brush and a blow dryer. Being able to use one tool makes things very convenient. Pros: This heated comb gets to high temperatures fast. I turn it on seconds before I am about to use it. I use it after getting out of the shower, so I use the wet hair mode. For wet hair, you have 3 settings to choose from. Any setting causes the blow dryer to turn on. My two favorite modes are the middle and the high. I use the high if I’m on a rush, as the heat is hotter and it dries my hair quicker. Not once did I feel like my hair was at risk of burning nor did my scalp get burned with the tool. If you dry your hair with a towel first and use conditioner or some other detangling hair product, the process it a lot smoother. Cons: This is a heavy comb. The first few times, the comb’s weight did cause me to hit my head. It took a bit getting used to, but using the cool-touch tip helped. Once I used it enough to get accustomed to the weight, I was no longer hitting my head. As far as the results, I managed to get straight hair on my first try with this new tool. It’s simple to use once you get used to its weight. --- APPROVAL --- The Shark Smoothstyle Heated Comb Straightener and Smoother is a great and convenient tool to do multiple things at once. I would definitely recommend using it, as it is user friendly even for first time combo-tool users like myself.

This is like a flat iron & blow dryer in one tool. With the wet hair mode you can dry the hair & I suggest drying with a regular dryer before using this because it takes awhile to dry otherwise. Dry the hair till it is just damp! It dries pretty quickly after that & gets very hot but it glides through the hair very smoothly without tangling or pulling. There are 2 heat settings. In dry hair mode it takes about 2 minutes to heat up but it straightens & smoothes the hair nicely, again without tangling. I am a hairstylist & used this on quite a few of my clients this week, pictures below show the results, the first picture is wet mode & added lots of volume. The second & third pictures are dry mode, I almost think I prefer just the wet mode. I have naturally curly hair & used this on my hair & both modes smoothed it out & it lasted the next next day even in humidity. You could also use just the dry mode for next day touch ups. Both me & my clients hair were very shiny after use. I really like this & have used it quite a bit the past week at work but I find it to be very top heavy, which is the reason for four stars, my arm starts to hurt after awhile. I am a small person though so maybe someone else wouldn’t be bothered by it, besides that, it’s great!

I think it's great to have a product that works as both a blow dryer and a straightener at the touch of a button, it's very convenient and saves time. This Shark Smoothstyle has exceeded my expectations with how easy it is to use and how well it serves its purpose. Included in the box is the SmoothStyle Heated Comb Straightener and Smoother, a quick start guide and styling guide, as well as safety information. Once out of the box it's just a matter of plugging the dryer/straightener into the outlet, choosing the desired option which can be 3 levels of drying and 1 level for straightening, in the straightener mode you have to wait a bit for the device to reach sufficient temperature to proceed to start straightening. My hair is curly and I usually dry it and comb it and then style it, with this product the process is easier now, because it is not necessary to disconnect and connect devices but at the same time that I brush my hair I can also dry it, this allows me to give it volume and save time. The design of the head of the dryer allows the hair to pass through without getting tangled, it also has a knob that allows the use of the product with both hands, which I consider very useful and more when straightening, I didn't have any issue on both modes. In summary, the product has a minimalist and simple design, although it feels a little heavy it is easy to handle and as the days go by it gets easier each time. You can use it to dry your hair or to straighten it. It is a product that has the essentials for daily use, saves time and fulfills its purpose very well, It worth the price, I can definitely recommend it.

The Shark Smooth Style Brush is an excellent product. You can use it with dry or wet hair. The fact that it is designed as a brush helps you to achieve the volume you desire. Set it to wet and achieve your volume without heat. Change it to heat and get the volume with heat added to the device. There is only one pre-set heating mode, but it is a good temperature to straighten and volumize your hair. The brush heats up quickly, so there is no long wait to use. At first I thought not having multiple heat modes would be a negative, but after using it, I find that it helps to not cause burning and heat damage to my hair. The brush can be used as a straightener to any desired look. As with all devices like this, a good deal of trial and error is necessary to achieve the desired results. What makes this product successful is that the brush doesn't drag along your hair and does a good job to seperate the hair strands. The product can be used on all hair types which gives it universal appeal. The build quality is excellent. The brush is comfortable in your hands. Shark enclosed some really good support materials including a "tips" card and links to product information. Combine this with a 2 year warranty and this brush becomes a must buy.
