It's useless if you can’t get CO2 cartridges.

This is a horrible product because you can never get the CO2 cartridges. I’m in the refill club and haven’t been able to get them for a month. They even sent me two more as a “good wheel gesture” because they can never get me refills. Ninja uses Sodastream for their cartridge.

Why Didn't I Get This Already?

As I sit down to write this review, the one question that keeps nagging at me is this... "Why didn't I get one of these sooner?!" It is now one of the most favored appliances in my kitchen. There have been times when I've gone into a convenience store to buy a fountain drink only to discover after taking a drink that the machine had dispensed nothing but carbonated water. The only thing missing to make it a great refreshing drink was the flavored syrup. And that is what Ninja has done... presented us with the ability to make our own designer fountain drinks. When I first heard about the Ninja Thirsti Drink System, I wasn't really sure what it really was. But as I read the product description, I was sold on the idea that it was an appliance I wanted. I was not disappointed. As I was unpacking it after it arrived, I was super impressed by the effort Ninja exerted to ensure the product arrived safely with no damage. The shipping container is thoughtfully designed to eliminate damage when shipped. The box contained the dispenser, two water canisters, a huge CO2 bottle, an 8-pack of different flavored drink syrups, a quick-start guide, and a couple other pieces of literature. The quick-start guide is concise, intuitive, and very easy to follow. There are no complicated set-up steps, and after the initial cleaning, it was ready to use. As I said, the Ninja Thirsti Drink System comes with a box containing eight bottles of different flavored drink "syrup." It's not really syrup, per se, but very similar to many of the water drops found in other water-flavoring products. Perhaps the most complicated thing to do is install the CO2 cartridge. All this entails is opening the side of the unit and screwing in the CO2 bottle. To use it correctly, it is necessary to make sure the water canisters are filled with cold water. Not coming-out-of-the-faucet cold, but refrigerator cold. They even recommend putting ice in the water canister to make sure it’s as cold as possible. Although it would work with even room temperature water, there's nothing worse than drinking a carbonated drink when it is warm. To make the first drink, I was left to choose between one flavor, or a two-flavor drink. I decided on only one flavor to begin with. One of the greatest aspects of the Ninja is that you get to decide how strong you want the flavors to be, and also how much carbonation you want. There are three levels of flavor strength if you include the option of no syrup, and four levels of carbonation, including no carbonation. I chose the weaker level of flavoring and the low level of carbonation. You also get to choose how large of a drink you want... anything from 6-ounces to 24-ounces. You can only choose in 6-ounce increments (6, 12, 18, or 24-ounces). I chose the 6-ounce drink. After making sure the settings were all correct (very easy and simple to do), I hit the start button. The Ninja unit makes a few strange noises while it dispenses the CO2 into the system, so just be aware. In a very short time, the drink was ready. Because I used ice in the water canister to cool the water, I used no ice in my drink glass. I was very pleased with the drink! Slightly carbonated with a very good flavor. I continued experimenting with all the different combinations of syrup strength and carbonation. None of them were in the least bit disappointing! So, one more time, let me go over the production process. There are four levels of carbonation to choose from...no carbonation, low carbonation, medium carbonation and high carbonation. There are three levels of drink strength...no flavor, light flavor, and heavy flavor. You can choose between a 6-, 12-, 18-, or 24-ounce drink size. The unit comes with 8 different flavors. You can make a drink using only one flavor, or you can choose a drink using two flavors. The two-flavor drinks can only be created in 12-ounce servings. Of course, if you wanted to change flavor bottles after the first round, you could conceivably have up to four flavors in a 24-ounce drink. Just saying... By the way, changing flavor bottles involves nothing more than opening the top of the bottle and popping it in place. Easy-peasy. The flavors come in a variety of iterations... Energy, Hydrate, Splash (unsweetened), and Vitamin... all of which are included in the 8-pack sampler. These are full-sized bottles, not the tiny ones you get when other companies include flavor samples. I was pleasantly surprised that Ninja included TWO water canisters. Each canister holds 48-ounces of water...plenty enough to supply several people without having to keep refilling. As a side note, the CO2 cartridge reportedly makes up to 100 drinks before having to be replaced. Replacement costs for the cartridges are very reasonable. There is even a refill club you can join that will allow you to save 30% more on the replacement cost. So now, the real question... "Is the Ninja Thirsti Drink System worth getting?" ABSOLUTELY!! There is nothing negative I can say about the Ninja. It's simple and easy to use, you get to customize your drinks the way YOU want them, and there are over 20 different flavors to choose from, and all the ones included with the unit taste great. Replacements are easy to order. And you can receive up to a 30% discount if you join the Ninja refill club that ships every Two, Four, Eight or Ten weeks. And again, the prices are amazingly reasonable and affordable. If there was one thing I could wish for and get, it would be that Ninja included flavors like cola, and root beer. How much better could it get than that?! The bottom line is that I highly recommend the Ninja Thirsti Drink System to everyone who can see themselves enjoying a nice, carbonated drink at home without having to run to the store first. This is truly a Must-Have in everybody's kitchen. I am looking forward to using the Ninja for many years to come.

Ninja Thirsti Drink System is a versatile carbonated drink creation machine. With the press of a button, you can make custom carbonated beverages. The unit comes with the drink maker, 48oz water reservoir, eight packs of flavored water drops, and a 60L CO2 cylinder. The packaging is neat, and setup is a breeze. You need to connect the CO2 canister by twisting it and install the flavor cartridges. The removable water reservoir can be stored in the fridge until you are ready, or you can add water and ice and the cold-water indicator at the bottom of the reservoir turns blue when the water is cold enough to be carbonated. The difference with this machine is that it infuses the flavors as it carbonates the water unlike other systems where you will add the flavor after the water is carbonated. You can customize how much flavor you want in your drink and if you want it double flavor or keep it to one flavor. The flavor cartridges are easy to swap out. There are plenty of flavor options to make your carbonated water a vitamin drink or caffeinated energy drink, or even an electrolyte hydration drink. Right now, you can only buy additional flavor packs from Ninja's website directly, hoping local stores start carrying them soon. There are three levels of fizz that can be selected for your sparkling drink. I tried all three, but the lowest setting tasted good for my liking. The included CO2 cylinder is supposed to make around one hundred drinks on a low fizz setting. You can get refills or additional cylinders directly from Ninja's website, as that is the only available option now. They also offer a subscription service for CO2 refills. I hope local stores might carry the refill cylinders for a quick swap soon. If you do not want any flavored fizz drink, this system can still make unflavored sparkling water. Alternatively, you can get still water without any fizz with your favorite flavor mixes added in. I really like this flexibility so I can use this drink system to mix up my drinking options. Another cool feature I really like is the ability to use your own glass instead of the need for special bottles to make the drinks. Keep in mind, this is a countertop portable machine that needs a power source to operate, unlike other machines on the market. Overall, I really like my Thristi Drink System and will be using it more often to make a variety of fizz drinks for myself as well as for guests. If you are looking for a customizable fizz drink maker, this is a cost-effective addition to your kitchen space.

I'd never been one to crave sparkling water but now it's part of my daily routine after getting the Ninja Thirsti. Specifically, the fact they have energy & vitamin variants for their flavorings means I no longer have to use other flavor enhancers and also get it refreshing carbonation! The flavor variety pack I received in my unit had far too many 'Splash' variants, though, which nobody in my household likes as they do not offer enough flavor to counteract the distinct taste of CO2 infused water. That said, the Hydrate, Vitamin, and Energy ones have all been hits! I use Vitamin or Energy as my first drink in the morning and then Vitamin throughout the day. The unit prepares drinks in 6oz increments, up to 24oz at a time, which takes right around 30s per 6oz. My primary complaints on the unit are regarding the design of the water supply. The canisters you get are only 48 ounces which means you're constantly filling them. And, since cold water is recommended for best results, you have to figure out how to make that happen as well. However, since there are 2 water canisters in the box, you can always have one full & chilling in the fridge then swap them out as needed. The water canisters themselves have been the biggest source of disappointment for me; the lid does not *secure* on to the top but rather just sits there. So, if you move too quickly, water spills everywhere. Fill them too full and put them in the door of your fridge? The sloshing movement from the door will mean you're cleaning that up. Forget that the lid isn't secured/sealed and flip the thing upside down while swapping? Get a mop. They would do well to resolve this flaw in the next iteration and create a system without a loose-open top.

The new Ninja Thirsti Drink System has been a very welcomed addition to my kitchen appliance lineup. My wife drinks flavored canned seltzer water once a day that she typically purchases by the case and even though it is water, builds up over time. Now with the Ninja Thirsti we can create flavored seltzer drinks in the comfort of our own home, on demand, with decreased long-term cost. This is a newer release, so there is not an endless supply of flavors available as of yet; however, the ability to quickly mix 2 flavors while making a drink explores more options even as this point. The Thirsti comes with a sample pack - our favorite being Peach Mango so far. There are suggestions on flavor mixes or one may mix their own and so far the combinations I've tried taste good. There is the ability to control carbonation, flavor intensity and size of the drink. The carbonation is strong, as max carbonation is quite fizzy! (I feel kids would like that setting). You may also just take water and add carbonation, then use with other flavorings you can get either syrups or drink mixes. There are two water containers included, so can keep in the refrigerator for a cool beverage (with a cool water indicator so you know the water is at ideal temperature). There is a CO2 canister included and Ninja does suggest to use only their canisters. There is a canister exchange program currently available to decrease cost at this time - hopefully they keep this program into the future. Ultimately, the Thirsti is an investment. Instead of spending a set amount every week on flavored water, you are investing upfront with the machine, flavors, and CO2. I am someone who has difficulty paying forward versus just a small amount at a time but just like making coffee this ultimately provides the at home convenience and decreased cost. With fun for kiddos to enjoy making their own drink too! My wife and I have truly enjoyed experiencing the ability to make delicious, flavored drinks at home and look forward to ordering more flavors in the future

    Extra Steps

I have titled the Ninja Thirsti Drink System extra steps because of the extra steps involved with this unit. First, this Ninja makes wonderful sparkling water, and I do not want this review to take away from that. I love the flavors from the countless drink combinations you can make with the dual infuser setup. The customization from 4 different functions, 20+ flavors, 2 flavor strengths, 3 fizz levels, and 4 drink sizes offers the ability to tailor a beverage to your exact preference. The device is quick and easy to set up and offers a versatile user-friendly design. Out of the box, the Ninja Thirsti is quite sleek and stylish. The unit is a bit heavy and slightly bulky. It fits on our countertop simply fine, but it is noticeable. The CO2 canister included adds to the weight, too. At first, I was a bit put off by the necessity to buy exactly match CO2 cartridges. That was before I used the unit and priced the replacements, for which there is also a monthly subscription. This could be a great option for us since several members of our household all use the device. The CO2 claims 100 12oz uses so we will see how long that actually is. After one week and heavy use, we are still good to go right now. One of the cleverer aspects is when the viewing slit is assorted colors from colored flavors being used. This is where the extra steps come into play… The brewing process is not fast; I am not an enthusiastic fan of having to buy the CO2 canister; the initial investment feels steep for sparkling/flavored water, and you have to use ice-cold water. All of these are just extra steps, in my opinion, but to repeat, this Ninja Thirsti makes superb glasses of sparkling drinks. My concluding thoughts are that this is the perfect choice for the consumer looking to live healthily but without having to sacrifice flavor to do so.

I was really impressed with the Ninja Thirsti once i got it all set up and started using it. With other soda makers, you have to have special bottles for your machine and add the syurp yourself, but with the Ninja Thirsti, you can use almost any cup that you want and pick which flavors you want and the machine will mix it up and pour it in your cup. Its like a keurig machine but for soda and sparkling water. I like that you get to choose how much carbonation your drink has, choosing anywhere from 0 to 3 on the setting. Personally I prefer the 2 setting. My kids absolutely love the Thirsti, and they love creating their own flavor combinations from the ten flavor pods that come with the machine. My wife loves the Splash flavors, as they're zero calorie and lightly flavored similar to lacroixs. If you like a little more bold flavors, then there's the Hydrate, Vitamins and Energy pods, and they all have blue lids. The Splash pods have white. We love how simple it is to use and how customizable your beverages can be. If you want you can just carbonate the water and add your own syrup flavor. The Ninja Thirsti is great option if you're looking to get an home soda maker. Its fun for thr whole family!

The Ninja Thirsti Drink System is a really cool product that lets you make your own drinks with or without carbonation. With up to 2 different flavor combinations and 4 levels of carbonation Ninja boasts up to "1000's of different combinations". Even with the 8 included flavors, you can make some really interesting flavor combinations and they seem to last for quite a long time. Set up is fairly simple with easy to follow instructions and illustrations to help get you going within minutes. This system also comes with 8 different flavors and one Co2 canister so that you can try out some flavors with many more options available through their site and other online realtors. The Co2 canisters are refillable which helps prevent unnecessary waste and helps save some money. Unfortunately, the flavored drops appear not to be refillable which means you have to order them through Ninja or one of their resellers with no option of refilling them with your own flavors. I would like to see this system take off which would bring about 3rd party sellers with either generic flavor options or refillable options which would be great for everyone. The only real issue I have with this system is how much it drips, the flavors drip if you leave them in even well after you have finished making a drink, the water can drip if you shake it even a little bit, and after you make a drink after the chime goes off signaling it is ready there is still a bit of dripping from the drink nozzle. This means that you will be cleaning the drip drain fairly frequently after using this, and I would not recommend leaving the flavors in since they will continue to drip slowly overnight. These "issues" are more annoyances than anything serious, and I wouldn't let them stop you from thinking about getting this, it's just something to keep in mind when you do buy this. I think this is a great system, and even now, with the only option being to buy refills from Ninja, I would highly recommend this to anyone who may be interested.

Such a Ninja cool product. Ninja has all the cool stuff. We put it out for a small party and it was a huge hit, may have even sold a few of them lol. We usually do with our Ninja stuff. Biggest pro tip for those that don't read directions is to keep the water containers full and refrigerated for best results. The bottom tab will turn blue when they are cold enough, you can add ice as well if in a hurry. Also if you have the space, keeping a spare juice type pitcher in the fridge full of water to fill the ninja containers works just as well. The combination pack of flavors it comes with are a great assortment and a good start, there are plenty more on Ninja's website and I can't wait to see what other companies will come out with to add to it. The lights are fun, but they should flash the whole time for a little extra pizzazz! It's not too noisy, the canisters are recyclable with ninja for a discount, the fizz amount is adjustable, as well as how much of each flovor you want mixed in. You won't be disappointed with this healthy alternative to sugary sodas.

Like many, I've found myself slowly becoming addicted to sparkling water. Whereas I once avoided it in favor of soda, now I find myself seeking it out instead of soda. It's crisp, refreshing and not overly sweet as well as being a calorie-free delight. I've toyed with the idea of getting an at-home water carbonation device, but the complexity and cost always gave me pause. I was intrigued when Ninja released their design, not the least of which because of the cute name: Thirsti. What really sold me on the Thirsti is Ninja's fully-automated approach to making regular and flavored carbonated beverages. With a wide variety of flavor pods available and a setup akin to a pod-based coffee maker, I was ready to give the Ninja a try. In typical Ninja fashion, the Thirsti arrived well-packed and Styrofoam free with a cadre of accessories in tow. The device itself is fairly simple and set up very, very similar to a pod-based coffee machine, with controls and space for the flavor pods on the front and not one but two removable water reservoirs. Setup is simple, with no need to fear the pressurized CO2 tank. It simply screws into the rear of the machine behind a hinged panel without so much as a fuss. The CO2 tanks appear by my eye to be the same as those of the well-known home carbonation brand you've likely heard of or used yourself. Where the Ninja really differentiates itself is in the drink creation process. Whereas most (if not all) other carbonators have you fill a carbonation bottle with water and attach it to the front of the machine, the Ninja instead uses a large water reservoir to store the water and carbonates it internally before dispensing it into the container of your choice. If this sounds a lot like a coffee maker, you're picturing the process correctly. This design is not only simpler to use, it allows for the signature feature of the Thirsti: the flavor pods. Flip down the mixing chamber on the front of the machine and you'll find space for two of Ninja's custom flavor pods, which are highly-concentrated liquids that dispense into the mixing chamber as the Thirsti adds the carbonated water. The Thirsti allows you to use one or two flavors at a time and control the intensity of each flavor. Combined with Ninja's impressively large selection of pods, the possibilities really are endless. Making a carbonated beverage is a straightforward process: install a reservoir of chilled water, insert your flavor pods, put a vessel on the tray and use the Thirsti's lighted buttons to select your drink size, carbonation strength and flavor intensity. Press the start button and let the Thirsti do the rest. The machine carbonates 6 oz of water at a time, so a 12/18/24 oz drink requires a few cycles in a row. It doesn't take long, though, and the Thirsti plays the familiar Ninja "done" tune when your drink is ready. The Thirsti arrived with 8 assorted flavor pods, including at least one of each type: traditional sparkling water, a hydration blend, a vitamin blend and a caffeinated option. It's worth nothing that all but the traditional flavors are sweetened with artificial sweetener, so if you're a sparkling water "purist," you'll want to stick to the "Splash" line of pods. That said, I liked all the flavors included. The sweetened ones can be a bit sweet but it's easy to balance that with an unsweetened flavor pod or an extra 6 oz carbonation cycle with no flavors added. The Thirsti will make just plain 'ol sparkling water if you ask it to; using flavor pods are optional. Where the Thirsti really shines is in the details, which Ninja absolutely paid attention to. The two removable water reservoirs mean you can make multiple drinks in a row and keep filled reservoirs chilling in the fridge. The reservoirs even have an indicator that turns blue when the water is at the "ideal" temperature for carbonating, which is just plain brilliant in my book. As someone who lives in a hot part of the country where the tap water comes out lukewarm in the summer, the ability to always have properly-chilled water ready to go is very important. The flavor pods are a novel idea that take the guesswork out of manually adding flavor to carbonated water. With all the options available most folks should be able to find something to their liking, and the ability to mix-and-match and control the flavor intensity is great. Each pod can make dozens of drinks, so they're not single-use items you have to toss after each cycle. My only complaint is that some of the pods leak a bit when installed, but as this is a brand-new product I'm going to give Ninja a pass for now. Hopefully this will not be a persistent issue. My only other complaint about the Thirsti is its shape. The main unit is tall, deep and skinny, and it does fit under a standard kitchen cabinet, but the water reservoir attachment is permanently installed off-center on the righthand side. I really wish Ninja had come up with a design in which the reservoir dock could be removed, folded away or possibly even be located on either side. It's an awkward placement, looks a little funny when the reservoirs are in the fridge, and depending on your kitchen layout may pose a small challenge in locating the Thirsti. Hardly a deal-breaking issue, but something to be aware of. Finally, it's worth noting that the flavor pods are proprietary designs for the Thirsti and so far are available only on the Ninja website. I'm hopeful the selection and availability will expand over time. If ever the Thirsti is discontinued and the flavor pods are no longer available, the utility of the machine is diminished -- although the CO2 tanks appear to be a standard design, so the Thirsti should be able to carbonate water as long as the machine itself functions. The pods and CO2 aren't what I would call cheap, but there are bundle/refill discounts available, and again, I'm hopeful over time more options and supply will keep prices reasonable. Overall, I'm very impressed with the Ninja Thirsti, and have genuinely had fun using it. My water intake is certainly up, I'm not tossing out a half-dozen aluminum cans every few days, and I'm already browsing Ninja's website for the flavors I'll try next. I think the Thirsti absolutely justifies its price and is worth a look for anyone who enjoys carbonated water.

This machine is a lot of fun. We try to watch how much soda we drink but everyone loves a good bubbly drink once in awhile. We were buying the bottled and flavored sparkling waters but they were going flat so quickly once we opened them we were being rather wasteful about it. This machine let's you make whatever size you need and the ability to change the amount of carbonation was neat. We've been having fun mixing flavors with the different combination settings and the various flavors we sampled have been pretty good. I like that there are caffeine options as well as regular options and you can use the splash flavors to add more flavor without additional sweetness. The amount of combination options is crazy as long as you aren't choosing the smallest size option to carbonate. My one complaint is that while I understand this is newer, seeing all the other brands offer a ton more flavor choices and even name brand collaborations makes me wish the flavor bottles from that other brand could be used in this machine but they don't appear compatible.

This device has been defined by my 13 y-o son as the best family investment in the last year. The combo of a soda maker, a simple drink fountain, and a kind of alchemist machine are in his opinion. What comes in the box: The box comes with the Ninja Thirsti Drink System itself, a 60L CO2 canister that is said to make up to 100 12oz drinks, two 48oz water reservoirs with a color-changing cold water indicator, and the “Flavored Water Drops Starter Pack” which comes with 8 flavors. It also comes with the “Quick Start Guide” and the safety information. The drink system, CO2 canister, and water reservoirs all have instructions on them that all help you while setting up. The Drink System: The Drink System itself is extremely simple to set up. All you need to do is add the CO2 canister and install the water reservoir with cold water. It also allows you to mess around to create any drink you could imagine. You can change everything from what flavors you and the strength of each one you add, to even the amount of bubbles (or even if you want any bubbles) to your drink. Now, be aware of its size, probably taller than most of your coffee makers, and could not fit in all kitchen counters. The Thirsti Flavored Water Drops Starter 8-Pack As I said before, the boxes also contain the Flavored Water Drops Starter 8-Pack. The box is packaged in a very clean and cool way which also explains how the bubble and flavor strengths system works. As the name implies, there are 8 different “Flavored Water Drops” that vary by box with a picture of what each type of Water Drop looks like and a basic description. There is the Splash type, which is the classic “Sparkling water with a hint of flavor” drink and is the only type with no added sweetener, Vitamins which adds Vitamin B, Hydrate which adds electrolytes and whatnot, and the Energy type which is my sons personal favorite because it adds caffeine :) And if the flavor you want is not in the box, you can always buy more from the official website. The Quick Start Guide The Quick Start Guide is quite complete. It doesn’t just teach you how to work the machine (options and combinations of gas and flavor or flavors). My son loves how It gives you tips on how to improve your skills. It teaches you new drinks you can make with the flavors. It gives tested combinations that you can know are good. And the best part about it is, it gives you an entire section in the back for you to note all the new flavors you have made, so that one day you can look back on it and know, that Energy Peach Mango with Vitamins Orange Tangerine, both with the flavor strength of two and a medium fizz level, is pretty good. Conclusion A great option for different flavors. Be aware that you will need to register in the Ninja Club to receive regular supplemental canisters of CO2 and flavors if all your family loves this like mine. The info is also available on the web, and price reductions are also available for regular club members.

I’ve been making tons of a variety of soda water drinks since purchasing this. What’s great is I don’t feel bad for drinking these since it’s healthier than drinking a can of soda. So easy to use. Even kids can use it.

I like the simplicity of this machine. Not sure how they can really call it a “Soda” maker as they do not offer any Soda flavors. When I called the company they could not tell me if they even have any soda flavors planned. The main reason I bought it was to make soda flavors. I assumed they would have those options.

Love it. Havent had any issues with leaking seals like others have had. Most of the flavors are great. Bought one for us and one for my brother to replace our soda streams and he loves it too.
