The Ninja Air Fryer Pro XL is a solid upgrade from my previous model, boasting some neat new functions. I particularly love the Max Crisp function; it's a game-changer that has rendered my conventional oven and microwave obsolete. Its compact design is perfect for my kitchen counter, and it's spacious enough to whip up a family size meal in under an hour. I tried making 2 pounds of frozen French fries, without any oil, on Max Crisp mode for 30 minutes, as the manual suggests, and they turned out just as delicious as the ones from a fast-food place, but without all the grease. Remember to give them a shake now and then for uniform cooking. This air fryer's hot air circulation is impressive, taking the heavy lifting out of cooking. From chicken tenders to wings and every dish I've tried turned out perfect with a little experimentation on the different cooking settings. The chicken tenders turned out better than the KFC ones with max crispy settings, crispy outside, tender and juicy inside, all this without having to fry them in oil! I was also pleasantly surprised by the reheat and dehydrate functions, which are typically tasks for my microwave, but the Ninja Air Fryer did a great job. It's even taken over most of my microwave's duties, including toasting bread perfectly. It's quieter than I expected, and cleaning is a breeze—the ceramic-coated basket and crisper plate mean nothing sticks. You'll want to keep it away from the wall due to the rear air vent. The new features of the 6-in-1 Ninja Air Fryer Pro XL is a game changer for me as it cut down my cooking time with lot more healthier choices. I'd definitely suggest giving the new 6-in-1 Ninja Air Fryer a go if you're keen on moving towards healthier meal options without missing the delightful experience of indulging in fast food favorites, guilt-free.

Ninja - Air Fryer Pro XL 6-in-1 w/ 6.5QT Capacity

As a huge fan of Ninja's Air Fryers, and using my previous model a few times a week, I was really excited to try out the new Ninja Air Fryer Pro XL 6-in-1 with 6.5 qt capacity. Setup was an absolute breeze. Cut open the box, remove top piece of foam, remove wrapping and cardboard from the 6.5qt tray, plug in, ready to go. The entire thing honestly took me less than 1 minute. It took almost as long to type that sentence as it did to physically get this going. Upon placing on my counter, I immediately noticed how small this appliance is. This thing sits barely higher than 1 foot. Official produce dimensions: 14.921259842519685 in L x 11.299212598425198 in W x 12.007874015748031 in H. It's This is about HALF the size of my last Ninja, and, with about 4 times the capacity. The tray is 6.5 quarts! That's 5lbs of fries or 9lbs of chicken wings. That's a ton of food for such a small footprint of an appliance. The weight of this is impressive too, measuring in at just 11.44 lbs, it's very easy to move around the kitchen. Being so small, it could even sit inside a pantry or cupboard when not being used to free up counter space. Operating is about a simple as the unpacking and minimal as the size. You pull out the tray, place food into the tray (I always make sure the crisper is inserted as well) press the power button, select the temperature and cook time, press start. It's advised with just about anything you cook, to pause and shake the tray every few minutes. This ensures nothing gets stuck to the crisper, and things tend to cook more evenly that way. The Air Fryer Pro XL has a "Max Crisp" mode which sets the cook time to a scorching 450 degrees Fahrenheit. This ensures things are more crisp and cook faster than the standard modes. Reheating some leftover fries took less than 2 minutes and they were crunchy and hot. Honestly, they were even better than the day they were delivered to my doorstep from delivery! It's also advised to set the Air Fryer away from under upper cabinets to give it room to vent. When cooking, hot air exhausts from the top. There is a vent in the rear that I believe is used for intake. When cooking, I did not notice any hot air coming out of the back, only the top. Since you are getting such a large capacity tray, you may be inclined to cook larger items in this Air Fryer, such as an entire chicken. Ninja included some alternative modes with this model, such as bake, roast, reheat, and dehydrate. I haven't had time yet to test all of the functions, though I was able to test out the dehydration feature along with my Air Frying. Slicing up slivers of potato, placing on the crisper tray and running the dehydrate function gave me fresh potato chips in a matter of about 20 minutes. Once done cooking, it's super easy to clean. Just remove the tray, fill the tray with soapy water, let soak, rinse. The crisper tray removes from the main tray for easier scrubbing. The crisper is made of a ceramic coating non-stick material, so stuck on food comes off easily. Occasional wiping down of the main appliance is needed to keep it looking fresh and new, but otherwise, this thing is low maintenance. The crisper tray is even dishwasher safe. If you're unsure of what to cook, or, how to cook what you want, Ninja included a recipe book along with a cooking chart to help you. What I enjoy most about using an Air Fryer vs conventional frying is both ease of use, and cleanliness. There is no oil needed. No splattering of oil all over yourself or the kitchen, so it's safer both physically and for your health. Using the Ninja Air Fryer Pro XL is an absolute pleasure. It elevates foods that need a good crisping, makes cook times lower, and takes up very little space. There is nothing not to love about this little appliance. It will absolutely become one of, the most used appliances in the kitchen. Well done Ninja, thank you for such a well thought out appliance. I'll be looking forward to the next gadget!

We really love this Ninja Air Fryer Pro XL and it is by far the best one we have used yet. We use this to cook various meats and vegetables so it’s more than just something that heats up wings and fries. The XL version is perfect for a family of two to four people and it cuts down on the cooking time drastically compared to a regular oven or fryer. The reason we love this is because the main basket is very large and not as deep as the original air fryers which means that more food gets cooked evenly without the need to be constantly stirred or rotated off the bottom to the top. Also because it is more square and stout it is easier to store and there is more clearance between the top of the unit and the cabinets when it’s on the countertop. The basket and crisper plate are coated with a non-stick surface so clean up is quick and simple. The six preset functions make using the air fryer simple and it really does a great job browning and crisping the food. The only concern I have is that the crisper plate is thinner than most and it fits very snuggly in the basket which makes it slightly more difficult to remove for cleaning. There are silicone/rubberized feet that extend out on the side of the crisper plate that help it seat in the basket but also cause some resistance when inserting or removing the plate. Since the sides of the basket and crisper plate are non-stick surfaces you have to be careful to not scratch either one as you seat the crisper plate in the basket. Operating this air fryer is simple. First you select one of the six functions which are Max Crisp, Air Fry, Air Roast, Bake, Reheat and Dehydrate. Then you select the time and temperature and hit the start button. The functions have a default temperature setting but you can adjust it up or down to meet your cooking needs. They include a fairly large recipe book to give you some recommended items to cook and what settings to use. The bottom crisper plate and the basket are coated with non-stick so the surfaces are very easy to clean by hand or if you prefer they are dishwasher safe.

Ninja continues to make excellent small appliances and this new 6.5qt air fryer is no exception. I have many of their products now and they always impress. The controls are easy to use with a bright screen, real buttons rather than touch sensitive panel, and it makes cooking fast and easy. On our old air fryer, we would have to pull the batch of fries halfway through cooking and rotate them, but on this one we can leave the batch in from start to finish without having to do that anymore and they always come out evenly cooked and perfectly crispy. It is much larger as well which allows for more cooking options. It is very nice looking with the black, dark grey, and silver finish, and heat vents out of the top instead of the sides making it easier to avoid overheating anything nearby while it is operating. Its also lightweight so it can very easily be carried from a cabinet or pantry to the counter if you want to store it out of sight while not in use. The power cord is pretty short so you do have to have an outlet close by to use it but the intention is for it to be sitting on your counter so that generally won’t be an issue. Overall, it is well put together, works wonderfully for our French fry consumption, and if it is as reliable as all my other ninja appliances have been it’ll be flawless for years to come. I definitely recommend it for quick and easy cooking.

Love the Extra Crispy Feature! Too Easy!

The Ninja Air Fryer Pro XL 6-in-1 is a game-changer for anyone looking to jump into the air fryer scene with quick simple cooking as well as enhance their kitchen with a versatile and stylish appliance. I love the modern design is a perfect blend of elegance and functionality, making it a standout yet harmonious addition to any countertop. It both stands out and blends in. What sets this air fryer apart is its innovative "extra crispy" feature, which ramps up the temperature to 450 degrees, surpassing the usual 400-degree limit found in most air fryer models. This feature is awesome for those who crave that perfect crunch. If you have kids, it helps get those chicken nuggets perfectly crispy! Ease of use is another hallmark of the Ninja Air Fryer Pro XL. It boasts intuitively labeled buttons that make navigating its diverse functions—air frying, baking, roasting, dehydrating, and reheating—a breeze, even for beginners. The inclusion of a dehydration option adds a layer of versatility, allowing for the creation of homemade dried fruits, vegetables, and even jerky!! The air fryer's extra-large 6.5 QT basket is HUGE, capable of holding up to 9 pounds of chicken wings or 5 pounds of French fries. This capacity makes it an ideal choice for families or entertaining guests. Moreover, the basket's dishwasher-safe feature simplifies cleanup, an essential factor for busy households. For families, especially those with kids, the Ninja Air Fryer Pro XL 6-in-1 is an indispensable kitchen gadget. It not only makes cooking a variety of dishes quick and effortless but also ensures healthy eating by minimizing oil use without compromising on taste and texture. We use an air fryer multiple times a week, so far, this is one of our favorites as it has a big basket and it’s really easy to use. In conclusion, the Ninja Air Fryer Pro XL 6-in-1 is highly recommended for anyone looking to streamline their cooking process without sacrificing quality. Its blend of high performance, ease of use, and sleek design makes it a must-have in every kitchen. Whether you're a busy parent, a health-conscious individual, or simply someone who loves to cook, this air fryer will not disappoint. It truly is plug-and-play, too easy. Ninja knocked it out of the park with this air fryer!

    A Solid Air Fryer

I’m late to the air fryer game – this is my first. But after using this Ninja “Air Fryer Pro XL 6-in-1 with 6.5 QT Capacity” model for a few days it’s already become integral to my cooking with its many operational modes. (I’ll refer to it as “Ninja” going forward. It’s a true 5-star product. If this model is lacking anything it would be a glass window to see the food cooking like a regular oven or toaster oven. As it is you have to pause and slide out the cooking basket. Also, the dehydrating function is more for show than it is practical. Much of what kept me away was the name – “fryer” doesn’t align with my eating preference, and I assumed it was just speed fryer that still required a heap of oil. But that isn’t the case – it has more in common with a convection oven than a fast food fryer – so I decided to try this one out, especially because it does so much more than “air fry.” There is another other reason I was reluctant to get one – appliances take up counter space, which I lack. Physically, the Ninja does take up considerable counter space, especially in-depth, but I tolerate that because of its usefulness. If you want to store it under the counter or in a panty though it’s surprisingly light and easy to move around. I parked mine on the countertop next to my oven in what is dead space anyway. The front control panel is clean and intuitive. Right out of the box I understood how to use it. It’s a minimalist layout with buttons for power, start/pause, temperature, cooking time, and cooking mode. The various buttons have a nice bouncy tactile feel to them. To operate just set the cooking mode then time and temp. That’s it. One quirk I found is that you can only change the temperature and cook time when cooking, and not when it’s paused. The cooking modes on this model are max crisp, air fry, bake, roast, reheat, and dehydrate. Max Crisp as a separate mode, to me, is a marketing gimmick, as its just air fry at a higher temperature than you can set air fry to. Functionally all the modes are similar with the difference, I think, being the amount of air that is circulated. The heat source is an electrical element, visually similar to an electric stove, at the top of the unit. There are three parts to the Ninja, the main cooking unit, a 6.5 qt. food basket with handle, and a crisper tray that sits inside the food basket. For most cooking the food sits on the crisper tray at one of two levels inside the basket. Both the food basket and crisper tray are dishwasher-safe and ceramic coated to prevent food from sticking – no nasty PFOAs here. After set-up I focused on the performance of three modes vs both my regular and toaster oven: air fry, bake, & roast, plus I also was intrigued by the dehydrate mode. I felt duty-bound to break in the Ninja with regular french fries so I poured what would be a fast food “medium size” portion of Alexia “Crispy Rosemary Fried with Sea Salt.” In my toaster oven this amount of fries would take 18-20 minutes to cook and even then some fries closer to the front usually end up half-baked. So I was stunned the Ninja cooked them perfectly crisp, but not crunchy, in just 10 minutes (including 3 minutes of pre-heating). They were less greasy too, probably since they didn’t have to sit on a solid aluminum foil sheet like when cooked in an oven or toaster oven. I also noticed the cooking temperature was lower too. I used 400F where I would use 450F in an oven. Before moving on to another mode I decided to try something more tricky – sweet potato fried. These have always been a challenge for me to get them crispy before burning. I found the Ninja didn’t change that initially…but after some trial and error I did find the “sweet” spot, so to speak, between time and temperature. Unlike the regular fries, these did come out greasy at first, but after blotting with a paper towel and letting them drain for a minute they were crispy and delicious. But the lesson here is if you first fail, try gain. There is a learning curve with some foods. Transitioning to different foods is definitely easier in an oven or toaster oven where you just have to change the pan or aluminum sheet. The basket and crisper tray are greasy were nasty looking after making fries so I felt compelled to clean them in the dishwasher before moving on. As I got more comfortable with the air fryer though I started just putting a dab of dishwashing liquid on them and handwashing. Takes about 5 min, though uses more water this way. Once out of the dishwasher I was ready for round 2, roasting. Time for something healthy. I soaked some whole (frozen) Brussels sprouts in a mix of olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, and ground pepper for a few minutes. Then I drained the mix and dumped the sprouts onto the crisper and let them bake for about 8 minutes at 375F They came out as expected for roasting – very slightly crisp on the outside but otherwise moist. Especially for cooking for one or two people this is a huge time and energy saver vs doing this in a regular oven. I look forward to trying out meats soon, especially for making chilis and stews. After a quick handwash, I was ready for dessert, which I don’t always have. But in the name of testing, I bought a package of refrigerated cinnamon roll dough for the baking test. Here I placed the crisping plate at the middle level of the basket, and preheated at 375F for 3 minutes. Then put four rolls in for eight minutes. Checking in on them just six minutes later they were already burnt. Lucky I still had four for a do-over. I lowered the crisping plate to the bottom and reduced the heat to 350F and set the timer to eight minutes again. This time the rolls came out with a nice light brown coloring and soft flaky texture. Yum. This was more convenient that using a big oven and the cooking was more even than a toaster oven. I was really surprised an electric element could do such a good job. I saved the best (in my mind) for my finale – dehydrated fruit. The results were great, but I was disappointed by the low volume of fruit made. Stacking food in this mode isn’t allowed to I could barely fit half an apple and one strawberry on the crisper. Studying the cooking process here though, it looks like the fruit shrinks enough after an hour where you could add more fruit every hour, assuming you are home. Having never dehydrated anything before I went by the instructions which recommended seven hours. My batch, however, was done in about 3. The apples were in between chewy and crispy but the strawberry was as crisp as a fresh cracker. Temperature is very low, about 135F, so I don’t think there is any risk of burning here if you leave it in longer. My thought on the dehydration feature is, it’s a fun feature, but because of the low volume it produces, not an integral one. If you want to dehydrate food buy a dedicated dehydrator.

Since first using air frying a few years ago, it’s easily become my favorite way to cook. It gives you the all the flavor of fried foods without the oil. The Ninja Pro XL gives you the capacity to make even more food all at once. Using this along side my Ninja Foodi grill I almost don’t need an oven! The max crisp feature of the Pro XL is one of my favorite features. It gives just that extra bit of crispness to fries without having to worry about burning them. Like the name implies you have 6 different cooking options, max crisp, air fry, roast, bake, reheat and dehydrate. The air fryer has a two position crisper tray, that’s used in the lower position for all but the roast function. The crisper tray and basket are both easy to clean by hand, but both are dishwasher safe also. Ninja owns the majority of my counter space and with the addition of the Pro XL they take up a little more! If you’re looking for your first air fryer, a replacement or like me an addition to my other counter top appliances. The Ninja Pro XL is a great addition to any kitchen from a leader in the new modern kitchen.

I have several Ninja kitchen appliances. Blenders, Pots and Pans, Digital Ovens, Grills, etc. and like my other Ninja branded products, this air fryer is also easy to use and produces excellent results. The Pro XL has a 6.5-quart capacity and 6 different cooking options: Max Crisp, Air Fry, Roast, Bake, Reheat, and Dehydrate. Operation is as simple as it gets. Select your cooking function, the desired temperature, and the cook time. That’s it. The Ninja does the rest. The hardest part of using this air fryer is wading through the endless recipes on-line trying to find one you like. Ninja includes a small recipe book with the Pro XL, but there are endless recipes available on the web. I have tried several different foods in this air fryer. I wanted to see how this little air fryer stacked up against my Ninja Foodi Air Fry Oven. While the whole family loves the Air Fry Oven (we use it nearly every single day), when it comes to air frying and crisping, the Pro XL has the Air Fry Oven beat. Food comes out much more consistent in the Pro XL. The Air Fry Oven would often get part of the food on its tray, very done and food further from the air circulating fan, not so much. This is something that does not affect the Pro XL. Because food is placed directly underneath the recirculation fan, everything in the air fry basket comes out evenly cooked, fried, reheated, etc. There are no hot spots or uneven cooking, just don’t overcrowd the basket and things will be great. The food cooked in the Pro XL is consistent and evenly cooked. Whether it be chicken wings, chicken parmesan, steak bites, pizza bagels, pizza reheats, etc., the Pro XL has produced superior results. The whole family has commented on how much better the food is out of the Pro XL vs the Air Fry Oven or even our conventional oven. The one thing that impresses me most about the Pro XL is the ease of cleanup. While I love my Air Fry Oven, it isn’t the easiest to clean. Far from it. Not the Pro XL. Ninja’s ceramic coating is impressive. Nothing sticks to it. Almost everything I’ve had spill in either the crisper tray or the air fryer basket rinses out with just water. If it won’t come off with water, a little soap and a sponge takes care of the rest. Even cheese. Impressive!!! The same can’t be said about the Air Fry Oven. NEGATIVES I would like to see the addition of pre-heat option and I would like to see the inclusion of a food thermometer. A food thermometer that integrates and automates the Air Fryer Pro XL’s cooking would be slick. CONCLUSION There isn’t much not to like about the Pro XL Air Fryer. I know I talked a lot about the Air Fry Oven during the review, not to bash on the Oven, because it is now a staple in our home, but to highlight the differences between the two. After having experience with both, I would easily recommend the Pro XL. Like all my other Ninja products, the Pro XL doesn’t disappoint. It is easy to use, easy to clean up and best of all helps you cook some of your favorite comfort foods healthier than other alternatives. I can see why air fryers have become so popular. A worthwhile addition to any busy household. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Excellent Improvement from legacy Ninja Air fryer!

To start off, I've owned the previous smaller model for a little over 4 years. To say I loved my Air Fryer is kind of an understatement and this one happens to go above and beyond in terms of features and capability. THE PROS: -LARGE single basket, without the footprint. While Ninja has started making dual basket versions, my only real gripe of those is that they're harder to maintain given the need to clean out both sides. The baskets are also smaller.. meaning if you want to make a full 2lb bag of raw chicken wings, you'll have to divide and actively maintain two sides. -MAX CRISP 450° setting Absolutely amazing for getting food like chicken wings very crispy! The combination of the larger 6.5qt basket also means less cooking time coming from the previous AF101 model. I can do a full 2lb bag within 30 mins of cook time!.. Previously it would take me over an hour to get a whole bag done on single layer cooking. I'm very happy about this. Aside from wings, all my normal go to's cook more or less similar with the improvement of the device being newer. I'm happy about this because I didn't exactly want a downgrade in cook quality. It kind of put me off to upgrading as I tried the Ninja Foodi XL oven and was very disappointed. 5/5 CONS: For some reason they changed the way the timer and temperature controls operate. You cannot really change it mid way once you commit to a certain setting. Requires tuning off and turning on the unit. Not the biggest con, but it can be an annoyance if you're used the the older models. NEUTRAL: The AF181 Air Fryer continues cooking for a minute after its "end" cycle. Doesn't bother me, but its just something to note. OVERALL: I highly recommend this model if you want an upgrade from the legacy models they released 5 or so years back. As I mentioned prior, there is no real replacement to a dedicated Air fryer. The "all in one" units have the appeal of being capable of doing everything, but fall short when it comes to how the food textures and tastes. I absolutely LOVE this model and I would highly recommend the upgrade if you already own a legacy Ninja Airfryer like me. 5/5!

I have never used an air fryer before. I've read about them and thought about it but in the end, I would just stick with my stove top and oven for all my cooking needs. This went on for years till I finally decided to give one a try and picked up the Ninja Air Fryer Pro XL 6-in-1. I wish I had done this sooner. After unboxing what is a pretty decent sized unit, I really like the all industrial look of black with silver highlights. It has nice easy to use controls and a digital display for readout. Setup? Well there really is no setup as it comes ready to go out of the box. Remove a few pieces of tape, take out the cardboard insert in the cooking chamber and you're good to go. When I say zero setup, I mean it. After reading the manual and seeing all their recommended settings, you quickly realize all you need to do is pick your temp, time and type of cooking you're doing and you're off. If you want to broil, move the shelf up. If you want to fry, keep it down. That's it! I tested it first with asparagus which is a staple for many of our meals. Tossed a bunch in oil, salt, pepper and smoked paprika, dropped them in, punched in the recommended settings and off it went. It produced asparagus better than the stove top or oven and much easier and straight forward. It just got better from there. Potato wedges turned out nice and browned. Whole sweet potatoes cooked nice and properly. Peppers and Onions were a breeze. Toast some walnuts? Easy peasy. I love that since the space is small and the heat is constant, you can open it up to stir or shake your foods and pop it right back in and it's back to proper temp very fast unlike a large, traditional oven. Clean up is very easy. It literally took all of 2 minutes to wipe down the chamber and wash up the grate. I really have no complaints about the Ninja Air Fryer Pro XL 6-in-1 and I will be trying all types of things in there asap!

Very nice thing to own. I am extremely satisfied with this air fryer which is very convenient and easy to use. I just must say, do not follow time for food products on the device, it will burn. I found that food is done in half time from time on the sticker, which is good thing but just sometimes to be awere of. For example fries has two markings one 20-25 minutes, other for 10-15 minutes but in my case fries was done each time in 7-8 minutes. Same with frozen chicken, marked as 35-40 minutes and for me was done each time in 20 minutes. Also rrmoving tray and shaking the food in the middle of the prepiring will give better results and food will be evenly done from both sides. Cleaning is easy as possible, remove the tray take out the plate and wash it. Definitely high quality product that makes awesome fryed food. This fryer can also bake and roast the food. For those who are not familiar with air fryer, you get better reasults then with traditional fryer but less greasy since you are not frying in oil but instead air will remove some grease from meat. Once again, easy, fast and very convenient and every household would be happy it. Pros: Easy to use Fast Great results Easy to clean Cons: None really

I marinated some bone-in pork ribs overnight (my go-to BBQ sauce), popped them in the fryer, and set it for "Air Roast." About an hour later, my kitchen smelled incredible, and I had a perfect batch of ribs. They were fall-off-the-bone tender on the inside, but with the most amazing crispy exterior – no grill needed. This fryer is a dream for busy weeknight dinners. It's so much faster than the oven and way healthier than deep frying. Plus, the 6.5-quart capacity is no joke. I easily fit a whole rack of ribs in there, which is perfect for feeding my family. Cleanup was a breeze, too. The basket and crisper plate are both nonstick and dishwasher-safe, which is a plus and very convenient. I'm obsessed with the Ninja Air Fryer Pro XL 6-in-1. It's a total game-changer for weeknight meals, especially for someone like me who craves perfectly cooked ribs without the hassle. It's so versatile – I've already used it for everything from frozen fries to roasted vegetables, and everything comes out perfectly cooked. Plus, the fact that it has multiple functions like air roasting, dehydrating, and reheating makes it even more valuable in my kitchen.
