Initial impression: My initial impression of the AF181 Ninja Pro XL air fryer is that it is a very well-made appliance. It comes with a 6.5-qt nonstick basket, crisper plate, user manual, and quick start guide including recipes. The appliance is securely packaged. It seems very sturdy with a mix of aluminum and strong plastics. The front display is clean and attractive, and the fryer is heavier than I thought it would be, but that keeps it in place when removing the basket during cooking. Setup: Setup of the oven is simple. Place the oven on the counter, wash the included trays, insert the crisper plate (unless you are roasting), select the cooking mode, and let it preheat for 3 minutes. That’s it. One item of note: the crisper plate has rubber bumpers to keep it from scratching the non-stick surface of the basket and from coming out when you turn the basket upside down to empty the contents. Do not remove these rubber bumpers, they are meant to stay in. Operating: Operating the oven is also very simple. Power on the air fryer, select cooking mode, set the time, and click on the start button. When frying a large amount, you will want to remove the basket and shake it up a few times during the cooking process to ensure even cooking. Cooking: For testing, we fried French fries. With 50+ years of eating French fries, I know what I like, and I know when fries have been cooked correctly or not. The recipe book says I can cook fries with either the Air Fry mode or the Max Crisp mode; I chose Max Crisp mode. I let the air fryer warm up for 3 minutes. Then I put the fries in the basket. I set the timer for 30 minutes and hit start. After 15 minutes I removed the basket and shook it up. I repeated this every 5 minutes afterwards until the timer hit zero. The fries came out perfect. They were thoroughly cooked and very crisp without being burnt. My other test was warming up pizza. This time I chose Reheat mode, let it preheat for 3 minutes, and cooked it for 3 minutes. When I took it out, it was evenly hot and crispy, unlike using a microwave. It amazes me just how well the Ninja air fryer works. Conclusion: Our kitchen is becoming a Ninja kitchen. While that sounds really cool, it’s also a good thing because Ninja products work very well and make cooking easier and more efficient. Cleanup is always easy with the Ninja kitchen appliances because the cooking parts are dishwasher safe. The Ninja Pro XL air fryer is another Ninja kitchen appliance that does its job perfectly and makes cooking easier, while using a fraction of the cost of doing the same thing in a full-size oven. In my limited use so far, I couldn’t be happier. It’s easy to use, easy to clean, and handles anything from reheating to small snacks, to full meals. If you have been thinking about getting an air fryer, I highly recommend the Ninja Pro XL AF181 air fryer.

    Easy-to-Use Large-Capacity Ninja Air Fryer

This Ninja Air Fryer Pro XL (6-in-1 6.5 QT Capacity) is our third Ninja device capable of being an Air Fryer (others are alternate models, such as a woodfire grill that can air fry), but what's nice about this model (besides its size) is that it doesn't seem to require preheating. To test it, I first cooked with Tempura Shrimp from a wholesale club's Freezer Aisle, as that had Air Frying instructions on the package. Halfway through the timer, I paused, flipped the shrimp, and resumed it. The shrimp came out perfect, crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside (and, again, some other air fryers might preheat longer than it took to cook these). Another family member agreed, “It was better than any restaurant.” Separate from the shrimp, we made some fries (from a different wholesale club) and estimated what 1 lb. of fries was (based on bag weight). They came out crispier when compared to baking the same fries in the oven, and they were very tasty (though I might recommend cooking the items that take longer first if you're air-frying more than one item per meal). Cleaning it is super easy, too, though I'll note we took the cooking directions sticker off the drawer (it had directions for the fries, for example) before inserting it into the dishwasher and placed it somewhere more permanent (we felt that it might wash off in the dishwasher). It is large (okay, XL), so you might have to make space in the dishwasher to wash it there. This air fryer (unlike the other two) will likely get a permanent spot in our kitchen (our other indoor air fryer was brought into the kitchen only when needed, which meant it was used less). We will enjoy this Ninja model, and I wholeheartedly recommend this if you're in the market for an Air Fryer.

The Ninja Pro XL Air Fryer is great. I'm a big fan of the Ninja brand and their line of products, I have so many of them in my kitchen and home, so I had no doubt in my mind that I was going to love this new air fryer. The Pro XL is a very nice upgrade from my previous air fryer, its a sizable 6.5 QT which is double the capacity of my previous air fryer. It has 6 modes: Max Crisp, Air Fry, Roast, Bake, Reheat, and Dehydrate, so you'll have a wide range of uses and options for food. I tested it out by making some of my favorite frozen food, boneless wings and fries on the Max Crisp setting, and it all came out perfectly cooked hot and crispy. Its incredibly easy to use and learn, and it comes with a helpful chart/cooking guide that not only gives you recommended cook times and temps for various types of foods, but also has a bunch of recommended recipes from Breakfasts, Main Dishes, Snacks & Sides, and Desserts. I love my Ninja Pro XL and is a great addition to my kitchen, I have no doubt that you'll love it too if you buy this.

We have an Air Fryer winner in our house

I recently started using the Ninja - Air Fryer Pro XL 6-in-1 with 6.5 QT Capacity and I'm very happy with it. I'm now at a crossroads as the kids are out of the house but they frequently return from school with friends or bring the grandkids for weekends and school vacations so I'm constantly needing to make more food than the appliances I would normally have out can handle. After surveying my domain and contemplating which ones were getting overworked, I decided that a large air fryer would probably be the best bet as appetizers, chicken wings, fries and chicken nuggets are frequently on the menu. I'm glad I got this Ninja. It has become the main appliance in use when there is more that just two or three of us and I have found it works fast and is very easy to clean so it can be put back in use quickly. I have other appliances that also air fry but this is my first where the main focus is on air frying and I am sold. I also tried roasting and it fit my 3 lb roast beautifully and it came out nice and tender. While I let the roast sit, it roasted my root vegetables to tender perfection. While light, so it would be easy to put on a shelf and take out when needed, I found that, at this time, I prefer this out on my counter and put my other appliance that roasts up on the shelf. That will come out if I need to roast something bigger. The reheat worked great and I while I tried the Max Crisp, I didn't see much of a difference but the kids certainly could tell and loved the difference. Guess when food first comes out it is more noticeable. I didn't try the dehydrator but I'm not sure if it is big enough to make much as things need to be laid out singularly. I didn't try to bake with it but given the success roasting, I don't think there will be an issue. So, the big highlights for me is the capacity to fry bigger batches though can still be used for smaller batches, the ease of cleaning and the quickness at which things are cooked. This is a winner in our house

A big air fryer in a small package

As a family of two, an air fryer would be helpful for us in making small meals or heating leftovers. The problem is, we don’t really have the counter space for another appliance. The Ninja Air Fryer Pro XL solves this problem by providing a large capacity appliance with a small footprint. Unpacking the Ninja, I was surprised at how small it was. It fits easily on our counter with minor re-arranging. There are only three parts to the unit, the main casing, the cooking tray, and a crisper sheet. The entire thing is easy to assemble and disassemble. It also cleans up easily – so long as you don’t overdo it with the oil. While the crisping sheet is dishwasher safe, I found it was quickest to just hand clean it after each use – that way it’s ready to use whenever you need it. The Air Fryer Pro XL offers multiple pre-sets, allowing you to air fry, bake, reheat, crisp (called ‘Max Crisp’), roast, or dehydrate with ease. The basket is large enough to reheat half a sandwich and a side of fries, or up to five pounds of frozen French fries. It takes some trial and error to get the times and temperature correct, so plan on some experimenting before preparing a dish in the Pro XL. In general, in takes much less time at a lower temperature to prepare food than a conventional oven, or even a toaster oven. The only feature that didn’t work for me was dehydration, something I wouldn’t be likely to use even if it was perfect, As is, there’s not much room for fruit here, and the instructions recommend seven hours of dehydration time, Given the amount of time it would take to dehydrate a single snack, I’d rather just grab the dehydrated items at the grocery. Otherwise, all functions worked great and were intuitive to use. Build quality is top notch, and my other Ninja appliances have held up very well to repeated use. An excellent product, and one that I highly recommend.

Ninja makes great products, and this air fryer is no exception. I own a lot of their products like their blenders and even cooking pots, and I am a fan. Their Air Fryer Pro XL 6-1 6.5Quarts is big enough to cook a full meal. If you’re reading my review, then you know what air fryers do, it cooks its food, using circulated, hot air, and what’s the food is finished it resembles food that fried in oil… except no oil is used thus making the food a lot healthier, and in most cases just as tasty. The six in one feature means it can air fry, Max crisp, roast, bake, and also dehydrate. All in a reasonably compact device. Very easy to clean this air dryer features a ceramic coated nonstick basket and crisper plate. Easy to operate, you just push a few buttons, you grab the basket by the handle it has and you’re already cooking Before you know it. The max temperature this air fryer operates at is at 450°F, you can adjust the temperature from there, it also has a Timer you can adjust, it’s really easy and anybody can operate it, I would read the manual first just to get familiar with this device.

I love air fryers. I use them for everything from toasting bagels to cooking bacon and wings. I have tried many different ones from various brands and I know what I want. I want a big basket, high power, easy controls and one that doesn't take up too much counter space. This Ninja checks all of those boxes and more. Here is why I love it: - Footprint: XL is in the name and the basket is high capacity, but somehow they kept this beauty small enough where it doesn't overpower my kitchen counter. It is not too high either so it fits perfectly under my cabinet. - Ease of use: My previous air fryer had a dial and I had to push multiple buttons to get it working and it was too cumbersome. This Ninja is really nicely designed and buttons are super simple to use. Power: This is what really blew me away. Despite what seems like a small footprint, this baby is really powerful which is important to get the perfect crisp on fries, chicken, etc. It toasted/air fried a frozen bagel to perfection in no time. Then I used it to reheat some chicken cutlets at low heat, then used the Max Crisp function to finish it off. The chicken was tender, juicy and crispy, just the way I like. The basket is huge and can fit anything and everything I throw at it with ease. It's very easy to clean as well, either in the sink or the dishwasher. If you're looking for an air fryer, this is the only one you should think about.

The Ninja - Air Fryer Pro XL 6-in-1 with a 6.5 QT Capacity is a great product. The air fryer came well packaged and was very easy to setup. I was able to unpack it and was up and running in no time. Of course, I gave the cooking pan and insert a nice wash prior to using it for the first time. The buttons on the air fryer are very tactile and provide a nice feedback and audible click. The LCD screen which shows the cooking time and temperature is well lit and easy to read. The air fryer has some presets on the front of the unit. They provide quick settings for most meals that you’re preparing. This air fryer definitely cooks a lot faster than my previous air fryer. Food that used to take 15 minutes in my old air fryer can be done within 10 minutes on this unit. I actually overcooked a meal I was preparing because I had no idea it cooks so fast. The pan and insert of the air fryer is very easy to hand wash and clean. I had no problem cleaning it after my meal was prepared. The sound of the air fryer while cooking is on par with other air fryers I’ve used. It’s not too loud, but you can hear it while it’s cooking. Overall, I’m impressed with this air fryer and I hope to get years of great use from it.

Ninja Air Fryer Pro XL 6 in 1 is the best air fryer that I've owned! It's a single tray air fryer that has several functions such as Max Crisp, Air Fry, Roast, Bake, Reheat, and Dehydrate. My husband likes his fried foods very crispy, and this Air Fryer Pro XL does the job very well. He couldn't tell that the chicken wings were cooked in an air fryer instead of fried in a skillet. I use the roast feature to roast vegtables like Cauliflower and Brussel Sprouts with my favorite seasonings. The air fryer is very easy to set-up. There are three pieces: main unit, nonstick basket, and crisper plate. The crisper plate is located in the bottom of the nonstick basket. Just remove all of the parts from the box, wash the nonstick basket and crisper plate in warm soapy water and now it's ready for use. Both the nonstick basket and crisper plate are dishwasher safe. I own the Ninja XL Grill/Fryer and this Ninja Air Fryer Pro XL does a better job of air frying by far! This is the air fryer for those that want extra crispy foods. Highly recommend!

    Outstanding Air Fryer

The Ninja Air Fryer Pro XL 6-in-1 is offically my new favorite cooking device. I had owned an air fryer previously, but either I didn't follow the instructions correctlty, or I just wasn't good with using it. I decied to give the air fryer another shot and hope I didn't make the same mistakes again. I purchased a few things from the grocery store to test it out. The first item, of course was frozen fries. There are six different cooking options on the Air Fryer Pro. They include Max Crisp, Air Fry, Air Roast, Bake, Reheat and Dehydrate. I tried the fries on Max Crisp because I figured there's no way I can mess up fries. Reading the instructions, it states to let the air fryer pre-heat for three minutes prior to add your food. Once past the three minutes of pre-heat, I dumped in half a bag of fries. The instructions also stated to pause halfway through and shake the fries. After the timelimit was reached, the fries were like a TV commerical golden brown. These fries were near perfect. I say near perfect because the fries that were long were not 100% crisp...maybe about 90% crisp in the center, but crisp on the ends. I can adjust that cooking for an extra minute or two in the future. The rest of the short and medium length fries were cooked perfectly. The next day, I cooked chicken legs in the air fryer. This time I used the Air Fry setting. The instructions state to flip over the chicken halfway through cooking as well. The chicken came out perfect. I would recommend having a pair of tongs readily avaibable due to the heat. Cleaning the air fryer is the easiest thing possible. The basket and the crisper plate are both non-stick. Both can be clean in the sink with warm water or put inside your dishwasher. The air fryer also comes with a quick start guide cookbook as to cooking many things. If you're thinking of purchasing an air fryer, the Ninja Air Fryer Pro XL 6-in-1 is the way to go.
