This microphone was a huge upgrade over my headset mic. The Pro X2 Lightspeed is a great headset except for the microphone. It seemed like an afterthought for a very premium headset. So for a pretty reasonable price, the Orb is an excellent entry point for desk microphones. My voice comes through clearly, and that's all I can ask it to do.

It’s a good mic it gives me problems every once in a while but nothing that can’t be fixed by simple unplugging it. I also wish there was a mute button on the mic itself several times that could have proved to be useful. I’d like to note that I don’t use it for anything more than simply chatting in discord with friends. Can’t comment on its effectiveness when it comes to streaming or anything along those lines.

This is a very interesting microphone. I really like the design and the sound. It’s easy to set up and get going and it sure does look nice. I tried out lightsync with a G keyboard I have and it worked well with the limited colorscapes I used. I like to have a solid color across all my devices, and if it’s not all teal it’s off! The color matched well with my other devices and my Core X that also is lit teal. I wish there was some sound cancelling or shock absorbing because the microphone is fairly sensitive and recorded a lot of my keyboard and mouse movement while using the included stand. When I disconnected the mic and used my shock absorbing mount away from the keyboard and mouse, it worked pretty well. In terms of sound quality, it’s as good as other Yeti microphones I have had before but with a better price and a less premium build quality. I can see myself using this for voiceovers in the future when I’m looking for a second mic. I would recommend this mic for folks just starting to do voiceovers as long as you get a good pop filter.

Really nice gaming microphone. If you want to start streaming or recording your gaming sessions. This is the Mic for you, and you wont break the bank. Its a really good solution for people like me that are just starting their gaming/streaming ventures. They include a nice desk tripod and its very functional. However the orb itself has also a metal hole so if you wish in the future you can use a tripod or arm to fix it to. They include a nice and very large USB type C to A cable and also I was surprised to see they include also a code for streamlabs ultra! With this (and a nice webcam), you will have all you need all you want to stream. And even if you don't stream, you can just use the Mic as your machines mic for online gaming. The sound quality is so good it will blow most headphones integrated mics out of the water! You just plug it in a USB port, and download Logitech's Ghub software (I was surprised to see how well polished and good looking it is now, I have not used it for ages, good job Logitech). From there, it will detect it and in my case it prompted a firmware update which was quick. Then you can use the software to configure and tweak your mic to your liking. There are so many features to play with. Just to mention a few, you can control the lighting (yest it has a small RGB light on the back). Then enable Blue voice if you want, and tons of effects. Sound quality is great. I logged in discord to play with my friends without telling them I had this new mic. Right away they were asking what was different, they could hear me clearer and with much more quality. Then I started to mess up with the sound effects and different distortions available. Like I chose an alien voice (there are tons), you can sound to them like Darth Vader if you wish it haha. Highly recommend it if you want to up your Mic quality and/or start streaming without breaking the bank!!

    A Solid Entry Level Mic

The setup is easy. Just plug in the USB cable between your PC and the Orb. The Orb has USB-C, the PC end is USB-A. Windows will recognize the Orb through Plug-N-Play as a microphone and you can then use it. However, it will not sound good until you download and install the Logitech G-Hub software from their web site. You really need this to get good sound from this mic. The Orb is sturdy, the ball is made of ferrous metal, a small magnet will stick to the front and back. It’s attractive, the lighting can be very visible, unobtrusive, or turned off in the G Hub software as desired. It’s sturdy on its short desk stand and has a separate threaded insert for a boom arm. The look, feel, and construction are that of a quality item and get 5 stars. The features abound in this round microphone when paired with the Blue Voice settings in the G Hub software. G Hub gives you numerous special sound and lighting effects as well as basic and advanced control of the sound you can get on the Orb. There is an equalizer and sliders to control settings and filters such as a High-Pass filter, De-Popper, De-Esser, Noise reduction, Compressor (Dynamic Range), Gain, Output level, among others. The only feature lacking is physical gain control on the microphone itself. Once most settings in the software are set, you’re usually good for the environment you are in. But the gain control is one the one setting I find myself tweaking. The sound of my voice seems OK to me. Other people on teleconference and voice calls using Teams have said that the sound of my voice comes over very well on the Orb, nearly indistinguishable from a phone-in or my other more expensive mic on the boom. 4 stars for features and sound quality. Unfortunately, I have some issues with the mic picking up sounds in my environment I could not overcome. On meetings and calls in Teams and Zoom, others can clearly and loudly hear me typing which they rarely did to any noticeable extent when on my boom mic. They also heard a vacuum cleaner running downstairs. Background sounds were never an issue with my boom mic. Granted my keyboard is a Logitech G513 gaming keyboard. Mechanical switches, very loud compared to a mushy OEM keyboard. But not an issue with my other mic on the boom. I tried every preset and changed every setting that would matter, even to their extremes. I could make the keyboard sound a bit softer, but nowhere near quiet, not by a long shot. Next, I pulled out a thin wireless keyboard that has OEM type mushy plastic cushion key switches. It is much quieter, like keyboards that come on a new corporate PC. While the noise is much less, it can still be heard on a conference call unless I type slowly and softly. I tried using the mic in back, in front, and to the side of the keyboard, there was little difference unless I put the mic about 14” to the side of the keyboard. Then I no longer hear the keyboard, but my voice also sounds soft and very far away. Hardly an ideal solution. Logitech advised the “features a cardioid pickup pattern that zone in your voice, ignoring key clicks and other noise.” This was not my experience; I could not resolve it. I’m mildly disappointed the hype did not match my results. But to be fair, the mic sounds good otherwise and has more features than other mics at this price point. If you’re podcasting or doing a conference where you are not banging on a keyboard, the Orb will do very well. But for not filtering out noise as hyped, I give this 1 star. The color of the lights can also be controlled in G Hub. The colors can be set to any color and intensity. Sync the colors with any other devices in G Hub such as Keyboard, Mouse, headphones, etc. Or customize the Orbs colors separately. I synced it with my other devices which are a solid red R248, G47, B37. However, the Microphone ended up looking pink when synced or manually set to these values. I was able to match the color up by manually changing the green and blue values to zero; R248, G0, B0 on the Orb instead of synching. An easy fix. But this could quickly be a pain to keep tweaking if you don’t use a solid color or change schemes and want the color to match your other devices. For this, I give 3 stars. I used a Yeti Orb a decade ago when USB mic choices were limited. These days there are plenty of choices from brands that have been making mics for many decades to pick from. But to get better performance, you’ll pay double the price of the Orb. If your environment is quiet and you do not require filtering out background and keyboard noises, the Yeti Orb is a great deal on an entry level microphone with a unique shape for a mic.

Who does not want to be the next big thing in streaming? Step 1: Play some games. Step 2: show off my less than stellar skills. Step 3: Swear and hang my head in shame. Step 4: profit, right? The Logitech G Yeti Orb is my first dedicated desktop microphone in many years. In addition to streaming, my friends and I have decided to start a movie podcast. So far, I have been impressed with the vocal quality. The G Yeti Orb makes a solid case for a place on my desktop. Streamers seeking a good entry level microphone should check it out, but be prepared, that price point comes with performance that, while good, is not great. It is a solid microphone and does better than my headset microphones and built-in laptop mics, but in my tests, it did not do much to mask mouse or keyboard clicks. Installation is straight forward. Users should make sure they have the latest version of Logitech G Hub installed. The Yeti Orb connects to the PC via the included USB-C to USB-A cable. Once connected, Windows detects the Yeti Orb microphone and G Hub allows you to turn on various lighting and sound presets. The entire process is quite simple. Some games have unique effects in G-Hub. Having your keyboard, mouse, headset, and Yeti Orb synchronized with the various effects is a neat touch. I like the orb shape and the size of the microphone. In addition to the included stand, you could mount the mic on a boom stand or mic arm. Experience: To evaluate the Yeti, I recorded numerous sessions with a USB headset microphone, a laptop built-in microphone, an analogue headset microphone, and the Yeti Orb. The Yeti Orb was the clear winner in terms of accurately recording my voice. Everything sounded clear and noise from the in-room fan / purifier was not picked up while using the Yeti Orb. However, keyboard and mouse clicks were not hidden. You could hear the clicks of the mouse while I talked. The microphone is good, but there obviously are limits to how good it can be. I tried positioning the microphone super close while the keyboard and mouse were further back on the desk, but it did not matter. Those clicks came through very clearly. It is possible that a boom arm would help. With my headset microphones, I can mute the microphone by either flipping a microphone up or via a physical button on the microphone. There is no mute button on the Yeti Orb. While I appreciate its minimalist design, a mute toggle on the microphone would have been helpful. Conclusion: I like the microphone. I wish it did a better job of masking my mouse and keyboard clicks, but I do not know if I can criticize a microphone at this price point for not having that feature. For its price, it does work very well. It captured my voice better than any other PC microphone / headset I evaluated. My biggest complaint is that it lacks a mute toggle; I wish there were a mute button. Still, this is a good microphone. If you are seeking a new microphone for streaming or gaming, give the Logitech G Yeti Orb a look. 4/5

Logitech has impressed once again with yet another product exhibiting performance and aesthetics far and above the expected quality its price tag would reflect. This Logitech Yeti Orb mic was incredibly easy to set up, literally plug and play with its 2m long USB-C to USB-A cable. The included stand is a nice touch, very sturdy and sleek looking, unlike some mic stands' overly mechanical appearance or ugly geometry. The mic itself is like a little Death Star orb, and the little RGB logo (programable in the Logi G Hub application) is a nice touch, along with the full wrap-around dark grey mesh of this condenser mic. The mic orb has two standard tripod mounting screw holes (1/4”-20”), making it incredibly easy to set up this mic on its included stand or on any other mic mounting solution of your choosing. Now, for the audio itself, I am truly incredibly impressed with how well the mic picks up my voice to the exclusion of my rapid mouse clicks and key taps while I am Twitch Streaming my FPS games and talking to my friends in Discord, and that is just the factory tuning and settings out of the box without messing around in the G Hub app! In almost all of my Logitech product reviews, I cannot help but mention how nice the G Hub software is for exacting control over the lighting and audio characteristics of the various gaming peripherals in their lineup. I will stand by my belief that G Hub is probably the smoothest and best-looking gaming product software on the market. As such, adjusting the settings on this Yeti Orb mic was easy-peasy and has resulted in me being truly overjoyed with the product! Altogether, this Logitech G Yeti Orb gaming microphone gets a solid 5/5 rating from me, and I would highly recommend it to any gamer or streamer who wants to dabble with a stand-alone mic in their setup but isn’t quite ready to commit to some of the higher dollar selections available. Thanks for reading and I hope this review helps boost your confidence in this purchase!

As a dedicated tech enthusiast, I'm always on the lookout for cutting-edge gaming peripherals that not only enhance my gameplay but also add a touch of style to my setup. Enter the Logitech Yeti Orb Condenser RGB Gaming Mic with Lightsync - a microphone that aims to elevate both your audio quality and your gaming aesthetic. After putting it to the test, here's what I found. **Design (5/5):** The Logitech Yeti Orb is an absolute showstopper in terms of design. The sleek, futuristic orb-shaped body with customizable RGB lighting is a sight to behold. It effortlessly blends into any gaming setup, providing that much-needed flair without being overly distracting. The Lightsync technology allows you to synchronize the mic's lighting with other Logitech peripherals, creating a mesmerizing visual spectacle. **Audio Quality (4/5):** When it comes to audio quality, the Yeti Orb holds its own. The condenser microphone captures clear and crisp audio, making your voice sound sharp and distinct during gaming sessions or live streams. The noise-canceling feature does a decent job of reducing background noise, but it's not perfect, especially in noisy environments. It's essential to ensure a quiet gaming space for optimal performance. **Customization (4/5):** One of the standout features of this gaming mic is the level of customization it offers. With Logitech's G HUB software, you can tweak the RGB lighting to your heart's content, choosing from a vast color palette and various lighting effects. The mic also has touch-sensitive controls for adjusting volume and muting, adding a touch of convenience to your gaming experience. **Ease of Use (3/5):** While the Yeti Orb is relatively easy to set up and use, it falls short in terms of versatility. It's primarily designed for desktop use and might not be as convenient for console gamers or those on the move. Additionally, some users might find the touch-sensitive controls a bit too sensitive, leading to accidental adjustments during intense gaming moments. **Price (3/5):** The Logitech Yeti Orb Condenser RGB Gaming Mic is undeniably a premium product, and it comes with a price tag to match. While it offers excellent performance and aesthetics, the cost might be a deterrent for budget-conscious gamers who are looking for a more affordable option. **Conclusion (4/5):** In summary, the Logitech Yeti Orb Condenser RGB Gaming Mic with Lightsync is a stellar addition to any gaming setup. Its eye-catching design and customizable RGB lighting are sure to turn heads, while the audio quality is more than satisfactory for most gamers. However, it does have some minor shortcomings in terms of versatility and price. If you're willing to invest in a premium gaming microphone that combines style and performance, the Yeti Orb is a solid choice. Overall Rating: ★★★★☆ (4/5) The Logitech Yeti Orb Condenser RGB Gaming Mic brings a touch of luxury to your gaming experience, with stunning design and solid audio performance. While it's not without its flaws, it's a worthy addition to any gamer's arsenal.

--- SETUP --- The Logitech G Yeti was a quick setup. Out of the box, just connect the USB A to USB C cable and it works with plug and play. If you want to customize profiles and colors, then you must download the free Logitech software. --- FEATURES --- Plug and Play (no software needed out of box), customizable Lightsync RGB lights (syncs lighting with other Logitech products, like keyboards), noise suppressor, clear voice. --- PERFORMANCE AND EXPECTATIONS --- I have used Yeti microphones in the past and loved them. This one is no exception. From the beginning, I really enjoyed how I could start using it right away with a simple plug and play. The day it arrived, I actually had a Zoom meeting. Since I recently moved, I couldn’t find my current microphone, so I unboxed this one and plugged it in 20 minutes before my meeting started. Zoom immediately recognized the microphone and I did the quick mic check from Zoom to make sure I could be heard. The person running the meeting mentioned to me afterwards that, compared to the others in the meeting, I was the clearest when speaking. I showed her a picture of the mic I was using and immediately wanted one because of how cute it looked. After my meeting, I had time to download the recommended software, Logitech Hub. The install was quick, and the app is user friendly. You can do a quick tour guide which will enable you to do quick and easy customizations without all the nitty gritty. However, you can get deep into customization with voice filters, multiple personal profiles, and color variations that change depending on what the mic is doing at the moment, such as being on standby, muted, or active. For me, when on standby, it changes color. When active, I set it to a fixed green, and when muted, I set it to a fixed red. As far as gaming goes, I am currently playing Starfield alongside my friends. Though it is not a multiplayer game, a group of us log into discord and we just chat while gaming. Discord didn’t give me an issue recognizing the mic and my friends didn’t complain about me speaking using this new mic. The only thing I would suggest that could benefit this mic is to have a physical mute button. It is not a big deal for me and for what I intend to use it for, as most applications allow you to mute the mic from the app itself. However, I thought it would be important to mention if that is something you seek in a mic. --- APPROVAL --- For gamers who are venturing into mics, this is a great entry level microphone that is sure to satisfy most of your starting needs. I would recommend this microphone to anyone wanting to step up their mic gaming from what is normally included on laptops.

Logitech G (Gaming) Mic is SO good!!

PHYSICAL FORM Logitech Yeti Orb is their new (2023) entry-level, gaming microphone that comes with a stand and a USB cable to connect to your computer (doubles as the power cable). The stand itself can come off and there's another screw hole available if you'd like to mount it on another stand/arm. The entire set up is super light (~1/2 lb) but sturdy enough - I could see it being knocked over every once in a while there's a lot of activity happening nearby. There's also a small "G" on the microphone that has an RGB light on it to customize. Keep in mine that if the microphone is directly in front of you, the viewer will see that "G" illuminated. The one function missing on the device itself is that there is no mute button, which is incredibly convenient to have but not essential. SOUND QUALITY Voice/Sound pick-up is entirely dependent on where this microphone is situated on your desk space - I'd say a good, comfortable position would be about 1 foot from your face. Even if you have a lot of background noise, having the microphone about a foot from your face will be sufficient enough to be able to soften the background sounds (it won't cancel all the noise) and still hear you very clearly. One concern I have is that it CAN pick up sounds from a mechanical keyboard (as opposed to quieter membrane keyboards), which could be a concern for some gamers. It's a well known fact that the gaming community has a propensity to favor mechanical keyboards for the tactile feedback and, oftentimes, lower latency for gaming. That being said, I live in a studio with a somewhat loud central A/C system and always have my air purifier on (situated probably 15' away) and the Yeti Orb was great at not picking those sounds up at all. Keep in mind that this is very much an entry-level microphone so it's not intended for high quality podcasting; though, going to that level changes the price point by a significant amount (2-3x the cost, typically). LOGITECH G HUB SOFTWARE The Logitech app allows you to program the microphone so that you can control the mute through other applications, such as Zoom (e.g. muting in Zoom will mute the microphone so you don't have to do it separately through the Logitech app). There are three (3) major settings available through the Hub software- microphone settings, lighting (LIGHTSYNC), and Sampler. The microphone settings is normally just set to change the mic input but if you enable "BLUE VOICE", there are additional equalizer and audio signal settings; there are also some presets as well. One fun function is custom voice settings, which allows you to change the sound of your voice - robot, alien, high pitched, etc. The Sampler section is used to create custom macros or assign them directly to a key (e.g. you can preset a sign off blurb instead of having to say it every time). LIGHTSYNC actually has a lot of options in it, similar to all the other light-up Logitech devices, but given how small the light is on the microphone, I don't think it's all that worthwhile.

So this Logitech Yeti Orb mic is fairly good, especially for novice/new streamers. Or even those who just want a dedicated mic. Overall, the design is minimal and simple. It feels decently built, but does suffer a bit from its poly design when sitting on a desk. Rest assured, the stand is detachable, and this can be mounted on a boom. The cable, at 2m, is long enough to reach under the desk as needed for most setups. Though, for boom setups, this may not prove long enough, depending your setup. Luckily, it's just a USBC to A cable, so easily replaced/upgraded. In using the mic, I found it to be fairly competent to stream while gaming, as well as making videos.Logitech did it's best to make this entry level device appealing visually, but it does come short a little, though, it does pack some customizable RGB attributes in the "G" logo and above it. This can be set via the G Hub app, which also allows further voice enhancement to your specific liking with Blue Vo!ce presets. This does decently with its custom condenser, it eliminated a good amount of ambient background noise, such as my fan, but did not mitigate keyboard or mouse clicks. Overall, this is a very good entry choice for anyone looking at streaming or keeping on hand for a backup, or whatever your case may be.

I’m normally a VERY big fan of Logitech products--over the years, I’ve used and loved their mice, keyboards, joysticks, headphones (lots of those) and webcams and always found their product build quality pretty much bulletproof and their performance either a great value for the dollar or truly exceptional and therefore justified in their higher price tag. Just recently, I had the pleasure of trying out Logitech’s new mid-to-high-tier Yeti GX dynamic RGB microphone and was absolutely astonished by the audio quality—voice-over and audio dubs were so much clearer and “professional sounding” than I had grown accustomed to using an array of admittedly quite pricey gaming headset boom mics that I honestly THOUGHT had been producing decent results up until now. Now my youngest daughter is starting to fancy herself a budding content creator and after coveting my new dedicated Yeti GX mic--but not being too wild about its more traditional aesthetics--we thought the Yeti Orb might appeal to her desire for something a bit more youngish-leaning and fun or “funky-looking.” Indeed, the Yeti Orb fit that bill nicely, but otherwise, I personally found the performance to be squarely in the middle of the road…not terrible by any stretch…but the Orb offered nothing really noteworthy other than extensive BLUE VO!CE customizations and tweaks found deep within the depths of the GHub companion app. However, I surmise that anyone familiar enough with those types of controls, and would be working hard enough in the app to dial in the litany of mic settings and signal cleanup adjustments that are offered there, would probably want to step up to a bit better performance from their microphone setup anyway. The Yeti Orb is basically Logitech’s RGB’d version of its own Blue Snowball Ice microphone. Sadly, in adding the very limited RGB effects (the same single-color illumination applies to the status “notch” on top and the illuminated “G” logo on the back), the Orb gives up some of the design and style points I think the Snowball Ice brings to the table. The Orb’s build-quality is serviceable but with a definite “plasticy” feeling to the materials; the little removable tripod stand is nondescript, fairly light, and sadly does not offer any kind of tilt or vertical adjustment. Counting the one the included stand is mounted to, there are two threaded holes for ¼” mounts, and a USB-C port at the back to accommodate the provided 2m USB-A to USB-C cable. There is no headphone jack on the mic nor are there ANY controls for even simple adjustments and functions like gain or mute. You can set the Orb to respond to “App Mute” commands that will turn the LED red when certain communications applications are muted (like MS Teams or Zoom, though GHub does not provide an exhaustive list); but otherwise, all controls, lighting, and signal adjustments are set in the GHub software. For example, muting the Orb in Windows did not activate the mute status LED, but the LED did turn red when I muted the input in GHub. That said, GHub’s “Blue Vo!ce” adjustments and customization options are quite extensive and can have an appreciable effect on the resultant signal. Along with basic controls for gain and master output, there are sliders for a high-pass filter, a 3-band equalizer with adjustable settings for center frequency and Q, and six of Logitech’s “cleanup” functions that cover noise reduction, noise gate, signal dynamic range compressor, as well as a de-esser, de-popper, and a signal attenuation limiter. GHub also features a fairly extensive “Effects” section with many options for altering a speaker’s voice to sound like a chipmunk, a demon, someone in witness protection, etc. Further customization is available here for additional pitch and ambience adjustments to create even more dramatic or subtle effects. There is also a small library of sound samples that include ambient noises (catacombs, enchanted meadow, underwater), a few cheesy-sounding spoken expressions (huh, wow, hooray), and some sound effects to punch up your performances (horns, beeps, gasps, growls). It’s a cute little addition, and I imagine some younger users might find these audio effects and snippets amusing, but I’m not sure how much a serious content creator is going to be turning to them day to day. In terms of performance, the pickup pattern is cardioid which means it’s relatively forgiving of lateral/off-axis placement so long as you’re generally facing somewhat towards the front of the mic. This pattern is probably well-suited to a single speaker at a desk or even multiple speakers sitting side-by-side, but the mic is sensitive enough that it also picks up some background noise (PC fans, keystrokes, etc.) unless the sound source is WAY to the rear of the mic itself. And what does all this give you when it comes to sound quality—perfectly serviceable voice for game chat, video calls, or reasonably decent voice-over/dubbing capabilities. Perhaps it is simply a byproduct of my home office layout, but at roughly 2 feet away and sitting slightly off-center from the front of the mic, my voice sounded appreciably hollow and slightly over-processed even at normal speaking volume. Now, I do give the Orb credit in that things improved DRAMATICALLY at about 1 foot out and speaking directly into the front of the mic...that didn't really match my use case very well, but I would bet that you would get better results with a boom that puts the mic closer to your mouth. The “Desk – Broadcaster” preset also dialed things in a bit better even when starting to lean back from the mic into a somewhat normal seating position. All told, there’s a good chance you can find a combination of sound presets/audio settings and seating/positioning that really can produce some nice-quality audio for your needs. And in the end, that’s kind of what the Orb left me with—an undeniable feeling of “yeah, it’s nice enough.” The lack of on-mic or on-cable controls for something even as rudimentary as muting is somewhat puzzling (or irritating depending on your needs). But after everything was dialed in just right, there was nothing else really patently offensive about the Yeti Orb—it just didn’t WOW me the way Logitech’s own higher-quality (and much higher-priced) dynamic mic offering did. But for someone wanting to simply experiment with some livestreaming, looking to chat during a game without using a headset’s built-in mic, or is just getting into some light content creation, I really do think the Yeti Orb will be…just fine. Sadly though, that’s about the most glowing endorsement I can give it--which is unusual for me given my typically positive experience with most of Logitech’s products. Tepidly recommended for budget-minded (especially on a decent sale) gamers, streamers, or content creators who don’t need--or aren’t super hung up on achieving--broadcast or archival quality sound.

Logitech has a long storied history of PC peripherals and high quality accessories that touch just about every product category including gaming headsets, headphones, webcams, keyboards, lighting, boom arms, to name a few. Microphones is certainly not a new development for them. As this category has matured, Logitech wisely has abandoned the one-size fits all concept, instead opting to diversify their product offerings into Gaming, Podcasting, Content Creation, Video Creation, and Music Production. This new Yeti Orb RGB microphone is very good for its designed purpose, and that’s gaming and gaming only. I admit my expectations may have been overly optimistic, as a disclaimer in case my review is perceived as a tad bit harsh. I’ll start with the lightweight plastic feel of the orb, atop a flimsy tripod that could easily tip with a bump of the table, or movement of something that touches the thin USB cable. Granted i was expecting something akin to the much more sturdy previous model Logitech Yeti “Blue” World of Warcraft special edition, which is focussed more on content creation, albeit at a higher price. While the Yeti Orb RGB is plug-and-play out of the box, to maximize its capabilities you’re required to install the Logitech G-Hub Software. This proved to be a problem for me on an older MacBook Pro. After multiple failed attempts it was suggested that i try another computer. It installed fine on a 2021 Mac Mini, though i always feel uncomfortable when applications request privileges, and need to run at startup and not when i intend to game, podcast, or create content. Because there are many features including vocal effects, RGB customization options (though the lighted logo might not be worth the hassle, the fact that I couldn’t find another way to update the firmware on it is. As noted in the cons below, i much prefer balanced XLR over USB connectivity, though the latter is certainly more ubiquitous. While running through different scenarios i had little qualms as a gaming mic. There is not much background audio noise elimination, so key clicks, air conditioning, dog toenails on hardwood floors are all audible. Moving the mic closer to you does remedy much of that though. This Yeti Orb RGB is worlds better than most other entry-level gear, and the price is surprisingly affordable. If you’ve not used an external mic then this is for you. If you’re expecting a luxury premium brand that is suited for multiple applications there are better options elsewhere on this site. Pros + Orb design + sound quality + visual appeal + entry level price + included pop filter + s/w customization + voice modulation FX + streamers / podcasters Cons -no XLR option -very lightweight -feels cheaply made -Logitech G Hub software -picks up background noise -limited frequency bandwidth -fixed cardiod mic pattern Conclusion A one-size-fits-all this Yeti Orb RGB microphone is not, so if you’re looking for something of luxury premium feel, and without one high-quality mic that eliminates background noise, key clicks, etc then this product is not the one for you. However, if you’re in the market for a gaming microphone that blows away the cheap headset mics, and don’t mind the lightweight plastic feel, nor lack of XLR connectivity, then this is an excellent choice for your gaming needs.
