Not what i expected for functionality
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This product is only good on hardwood or tile floors. Won't go forward without extreme force on any type of carpet. I would not even recommend this for area rugs. Disappointing when though i love all of my previous shark products.

Posted .Hi Kjam,
Thank you for sharing your experience with the Shark PowerDetect Clean & Empty Cordless Stick Vacuum. We’re sorry to hear that it’s difficult to push on carpet and hasn’t met your expectations for area rugs. We understand how important it is for a vacuum to work seamlessly across different surfaces, especially if you’ve had great experiences with other Shark products in the past.
For better maneuverability on carpets, we recommend checking if the vacuum is set to the appropriate floor mode and ensuring the brush roll is free of debris. If the issue persists, our team would be happy to troubleshoot or explore other Shark models that may better suit your needs.

New Cordless from Shark works well
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have owned several Shark Vacuums over the years, and found them to be reliable, and fully featured, so I was excited at the prospect of trying their newest cordless model and see how it worked on my mixed carpeted/hard floor house. The box was alot heavier than I expected it to be, but since it came with an auto emptying system, the extra weight was unavoidable. It was simple to put together, as Shark does an excellent job of providing pictures, and online videos that make assembly very easy for their products. Once assembled, you need to charge it up completely, and mine took a couple of hours for that to complete. Once charged fully, I started to use it with the default "detect" setting, and was impressed as to how the power ramped up and down automatically, depending on carpet thickness, and bare floor location. At first, I was disappointed, as some of my thicker carpet seems to stop the brush head from properly spinning, and I remember that you had to have the vacuum slightly bent to enable the power head to work properly. Also, I realized that in the "detect" setting, the roller would struggle with some of the thicker carpet, but, once I remembered that you can increase the power output by squeezing the trigger, that seemed to fix the problem. Nice LED headlights, color coded based on what you are doing, and the ability to separate the long pipe from the power head to use it overhead and in other areas just make this a nice all around package. I'm not sure if this can completely replace a heavy, hard wired Vacuum, but unless you have multiple hairy pets, and kids, this should work well and make clean ups pretty easy.

Shark engineers nailed the design on this one
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a Detect Pro auto-empty system that I got last year, and it’s become the most used vacuum in the house. We have a house full of cats, so it’s a constant battle to keep the hair under control before it turns into cat hair tumbleweeds. We could use another vacuum upstairs, so I decided to try this one. Compared to the Detect Pro model, the PowerDetect is taller, a bit heavier, has some nice new features, and a lot more powerful suction. I’ve been using it for a week now and it has been fantastic. The beauty of the auto-empty system is you can grab the vacuum for quick 5-minute cleaning sessions then just pop it back on the stand when you’re done and it’s ready for next time. People in the household will actually use this kind of vacuum when they don’t have to stop and empty it themselves each time. Every few weeks I have to empty the base and clean the filters, but that’s still a great trade for convenient use. The PowerDetect has a lot of vacuuming power now, almost like a corded model. In fact, in one situation it’s almost too strong. We have Ruggable rugs that Velcro down to a pad so you can remove the top part and throw it in the washer. Well, corded vacuums are way too strong and tend to suck the rug up into the roller. Cordless vacuums have always worked well to clean the rugs, but also not pull up the rug itself. Fortunately, with the PowerDetect I can manually put it in Eco mode and that reduces the power enough that it still works great on the rugs. The trigger switch for changing the mode between Eco, Detect, or Boost is right on the handle, so it’s very easy to switch modes back and forth. Another great feature is the MultiFlex wand that bends in the middle. At first, I thought this was just a gimmick but after using it around the house I’ve realized it's a big advance over the older model. With the swivel head and this wand, you can easily vacuum under chairs, the couch, beds, etc. without a struggle. It’s super handy. It’s also a nice feature for folding it back 180 degrees so the vacuum can stand on its own if you need to set it aside for a minute while you do something else. The PowerDetect also has LED lights on the front and back, which do help a great deal when vacuuming under those couches and other dark places. Another feature this vacuum has that seemed to take a long time to appear is there’s actually a place to store both included attachments on the base! Always before it seems like I have an extra brush that ends up just laying on top of the base or getting lost. Now there’s a spot for all of them. I do wish there was a way to clip the crevice tool to the vacuum while you’re using it, but there doesn’t seem to be. For now, I just stick that in my back pocket when I grab the vacuum to go clean up. One of the features Shark highlights about this vacuum is that the roller will clean in both forward and reverse directions (when you push and pull). It really does seem to make a difference and sucks up hair and scattered litter faster. It also has the Shark-designed small soft roller in front of the main roller brush. This works really well for grabbing debris close to the wall or up against the risers when cleaning the stairs. A lot of vacuums leave a frustrating line of debris close to the wall and you have to go back with the crevice tool. This vacuum makes that mostly unnecessary. I’m super happy with this vacuum and would get it again if something happened to this one. That’s not too likely, though, because the PowerDetect comes with a 5-year warranty. I highly recommend this vacuum for people with pets. Who knows, you might even need a couple of them.

Goodbye, Cat Hair Tumbleweeds!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me just start off by saying having a vacuum I love is a huge deal to me...not because I just absolutely love vacuuming but because I own 4 cats who shed like it's no one's business and I can't go more than two days without needing to suck up tumbleweeds of hair rolling across my floors. I own one of those Dyson cordless stick vacuums and love it so I figured this Shark cordless, auto empty one would be a great upgrade to be able to keep on my main floor and allow me to move the Dyson up to my second floor. Because who doesn't love not having to lug a vacuum up and down stairs? I'll start out by saying this thing comes in a pretty large box and is surprisingly heavy. Upon unboxing I realized that most of the weight is in the base you house the vacuum on to empty. The directions were also a little confusing. The "quick start guide" was short and sweat which I usually don't mind, but there were some parts that left me scratching my head on what went where and what setting meant what. I ended up scanning the QR and navigating to the expanded PDF guide, which was kind of annoying trying to view on my phone. After reading everything, the entire set up took me less than 10 minutes. The directions state that you need to charge it before you first use it so I let mine charge for about an hour before testing it out. I started out on detect mode on my carpet and was of course horrified at the amount of hair it sucked up, but also pleased because this thing can really suck! I sense I'll be using detect mode the most because I have carpets and hardwood/tile flooring on all levels of my house so it'll be nice knowing it'll automatically detect the appropriate amount of power to use based on flooring. As a visual person, I love the lighting indications for different things. I can't remember off the top of my head, but depending on the dirt level you'll notice the lights turn a certain color so you know whatever you're vacuuming is very dirty and then once it's clean it'll fade to another color notifying you it's done its job. My one and only complaint is that it doesn't seem to go over very plush carpet easily. I have a shag-like rug in my dining room and it was extremely hard to maneuver it on it. It almost seemed like it wasn't sucking much up either. I have to do a little more trial and error with settings to see if it's a potential user error thing. I hope it is because that rug needs vacuumed the most since it is shaggier. My favorite feature of course is once you set the vacuum on the dock it auto empties within like 15 seconds. It's so satisfying to watch! I'm very curious how many rounds I can go before I have to empty the main canister. Only time will tell on that. The battery life seems to be pretty impressive so far. I believe I was a little over half way drained after vacuuming my whole first floor and I'm sure on Eco mode that would make the battery last a lot longer. I'll be trying that mode next. I did just think of one other downfall, and that's the charging time. I think I read it takes 5-6 hours to full recharge, which seems like a long time. Overall, incredibly happy with this vacuum and am happy to say it's another product win by Shark!

A good choice for your home
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Shark's Powerdetect vacuum is a great choice for keeping your home clean and tidy. Setting up the vacuum was very easy, I was bit anxious about it being a process since it has a few more movable parts and removable pieces/accessories than my last vacuum. The vaccum has great suction power, I have long hair that sheds, I like snacks that tend to leave crumbs, and I track dust and dirt from my work boots, the Shark picked it all up from my carpet, large area rugs, and hard floor perfectly. It has multiple suction power settings: PowerDetect, which will detect the type of surface its cleaning and amount of debris its collecting then adjust suction power to pick up messes effectively. Power Saver, which is just a lower level suction to pick up simple messes and save battery for longer usage. High Power, which is the vacuum suction running at its highest rate for more trapped in debris or crumbs. The main head and neck has a flexible angle joint in the center that makes it easier for vacuuming under tables and furniture without having to crane down or crouch just to reach a few inches under these peices. The collection bin is most likely gonna be the reason you're looking at this vaccum and its a good feature. The main collection bin lets you empty the vaccum's collection cansiter mulitple times before having to dump the main bin and the main collection bin has a scented air freshener pod that covers odors and allergens from debris collected so you won't smell the odors collected. My favorite feature of the Shark Powerdetect is that the main vaccum is detachable and comes with a crevice nozzle and soft brush head nozzle. These extra accessories and functionality arent just great for my home cleaning purpose but also excellent for cleaning out my car's interior, so its multifunctional. It looks good too its modern without sacrificing power or function. I would absolutely recommend the Shark Powerdetect vacuum for your home.

Could be better
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my review for the Shark - PowerDetect™ Clean & Empty Cordless Stick Vacuum & Auto-Empty System with Powerful Suction -in the color Dark Gray. Everything came packaged nicely, set up was fairly easy. I charged right out of the box and I love the fact that the light turns green when charge is complete. I immediately started using it after I charged fully, a few things that I wish this vacuum had: A timer, so you can see how maybe minutes you have before vacuum needs to be charged, Also when changing settings or toggling to the 3 different vacuum modes (echo, auto and boost) The vacuum screen just shows the little symbol, I wish it would say what setting mode I am changing to infer the symbol. The button for changing modes is in a very odd place , it’s like a trigger button, took me a while to figure out where it was, should be on the little vacuum screen. As far as the attachments go, I wish there was a spot to just attach them to this system, it’s such a it takes up enough space that there should be an area to just clip the attachments! And last but not least, such a nice vacuum I wish it had a roller attachment to clean the couch and bed. Other than all of these minor issues the vacuum cleans well. And the auto empty system is perfect

Nice Strong Vacuum
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Shark - PowerDetect™ Clean & Empty Cordless Stick Vacuum & Auto-Empty System with Powerful Suction Vacuum, comes in a large well packed box but it was fairly heavy for me to handle. I have put together many vacuums in my life but because of all the attachments, I found this more difficult and the written instructions were not the best. After getting it together, I immediately used the hand held options since I have new drawers in a garage to clean and it quickly removed sawdust. I then charged it further so that I could work on vacuuming in the mechanical room where I had bits of blown in insulation scattered around the room. I detached the floor nozzle and just used the wand and it did a wonderful job of cleaning this space. I really like this option. I vacuumed further and it did a great job. I hung it on the charging post and it emptied the canister but I knew that sometime soon I would need to empty the larger canister. Perhaps this saves time but eventually you can be exposed to dust anyhow. The unit is quite heavy and top heavy so you need to lean it against something if it is not on the charging post. I have another Shark vacuum & it is much lighter so in comparison, I do prefer the lighter version but this depends on your muscle strength and how much vacuuming you do at a time. This vacuum is a nice addition for heavier cleaning. Overall, it is a nice vacuum.

Neat and impressive vacuum!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Shark Cordless Stick vacuum has to be the most impressive vacuum I have used, and it has become our households favourite to use. This vacuum was packaged well and assembling the vacuum as well as it's charging base was very simple. The suction power on this vacuum has exceeded my expectations, I have tried several cordless vacuums in the past few years and although convenient, the suction power has never been to my satisfaction. This is the first cordless vacuum that I'm actually happy with the suction power on. I also love how well lit the floor gets with the abundant amount of lights on this vacuum. It seems like many vacuums have “blind spots” of light but this one even having lights even behind it is great. Although it seems small, it really does make a difference and it is a welcomed improvement over older models. I also love the Multiflex folding option for easier vacuuming in tight areas. My mom is currently dealing with knees issues and house chores like vacuuming has gotten harder for her. But she gave this vacuum a go and she complimented how much easier the Multiflex fold option made for her to get under and around bulky furniture. Overall we came to the conclusion that we really enjoy using this vacuum and are impressed with it's features, and we would definitely recommend it to anyone in the market for a vacuum.

Very Versatile with Impressive Suction
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Shark Power Detect is your answer for the best all in one vacuum. It's cordless, and has a run time of up to 70 minutes, based on the mode and debris encountered. It's extremely versatile. The vacuum head can be turned effortlessly at almost any angle needed without the user having to make any changes in your path. The low profile vacuum head fits under most furniture and even has an extra bend point in the middle of the stick to get deep under furniture and other objects so that manually moving everything in the room for a good clean is not necessary. The vacuum head also has lights on the front and back of the unit to easily spot debris in any area or lighting. The vacuum by itself is about 8lbs, and probably around 5lbs without the vacuum head. Making this very easy to cart around to use in different rooms, as well as vacuum your furniture and drapes. After I vacuum the floor, I just lift the unit up a little higher and pop it down on the couch. It works great at keeping the furniture clean and free of pet hair. It's just as easy to use this in the car with the different head attachments. The vacuum head has two rollers that work in unison to pull debris in and push it up into the stick. The vacuum head has a kind of comb that the front roller spins against to help keep strings and hair from winding around the roller. The comb actually works great, and it's easy to just wipe away the accumulated string and hair. There is also a set of flexible fins located on the bottom back half of the vacuum head to help keep debris from getting tossed around while vacuuming on harder surfaces. The fins also work to aid in capturing debris while vacuuming backwards. The PowerDetect has sensors inside the vacuum to detect debris. The lights on the unit (on the vacuum head and main display) turn more of a purple to indicate heavy debris and get white once no more debris is detected. There are also sensors around the vacuum head to determine hard floor surfaces vs carpets and rugs, and then adjust the rollers and suction accordingly. The side sensors on the vacuum head detect wall edges and increase the vacuuming force to help pull dirt away from the wall and edges into the unit. The suction is on par or better than most corded units. I actually pulled more debris from our rug with the IP3000 than our older corded upright. I used the corded unit first and then redid everything with the PowerDetect and was amazed that the PowerDetect still pulled additional dirt from the rug. The Dock works great and is easy to slide the vacuum into and out of. The dock comes with one Odor Neutralizer Puck that helps to keep the recirculated air smelling fresh and clean. The Puck can easily be changed as it's located on the top of the unit. When the vacuum is placed in the dock, it starts charging as well as empties the dust cup. You can turn off the auto empty feature if you don't want the noise at the time of docking the unit. The dock uses it's own vacuum suction to empty the dust cup, and then activates the Vacuum stick's suction power to shift the debris in the dust cup, and then reactivates it's own vacuum to grab the rest. The whole process is pretty quick at maybe 30 seconds and is very effective. The dock kinda compacts the debris so it makes a quick exit when it comes time to empty the unit. The dock can hold at least 10 times the debris held in the dust cup. Maintenance is pretty easy, especially as most of it is automatic, except for emptying the dock and cleaning the sponge filters. Overall, this vacuum works great and can easily be used in so many ways and locations. The best part is that it does so much on it's own with adjusting the suction power and rollers to grab as much debris as possible. It even changes the lighting colors to let you know if an area has been cleaned enough or if more vacuuming is needed. I am not only impressed with the vacuum's suction, but also the ease of use.

Thorough cleaning, easily cleaned
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Due to a medical issue a couple of days before I received my Shark - PowerDetect™ Clean & Empty Cordless Stick Vacuum & Auto-Empty System with Powerful Suction, a friend came over to help me clean, so she was the first to use it. As she does it for a living, I asked if she’d tell me what she thinks of it, so you are getting two points of view in this review. She was pleasantly surprised at how well it was packaged. The setup instructions were super easy to use and understand and she had it together in minutes. Once she opened it, she plugged in the cradle station and let it charge for a good 4 hours while she went about cleaning other things. We both found it super easy to use the power button on the control panel, and above that is an easy-to-read battery indicator light. Upon starting and using this thing it has an amazing sucking power. She did use it on carpet and on hardwood floors as I have both. She was able to get in around and under things that haven't been thoroughly cleaned in a while due to my physical limitations (and I’ve never been great at vacuuming anyway). She was able to get leaves that were embedded in the carpets which appeared to be mulched as I didn’t notice any when she showed me the tank as she was excited about picking up leaves. This machine was able to get super close to the walls, again cleaning a hard-to-clean place for me. It has handy little lights on the front for finding and detecting more dirt. This Shark has a self-propelled swivel steering head. It moves forward well and speeds up when necessary. Backward was a little more difficult for her as it was resistant as if it didn't want to go in the direction indicated. Moving forward was easy, but the backwards vacuuming was a little wonky for her. I did not find that to be an issue, but I also haven’t used it as long continuously as she did. The battery life on this is about 2 hours straight as she, bless her heart, vacuumed every room, including the pet’s favorites and kids’ bedrooms. She wanted to make sure she got everything she could while she had the excuse. And it worked fantastic. For the amount of area covered, the storage tank held everything beautifully. The vacuum was easy to get back into its holding cradle and emptied itself. This went much quieter than expected. The attachments went on and off smoothly. The only Cons we both have is that for a person around 5 feet tall (my size) or shorter, this was a tall product. Also, the weight of the top portion with the dirt canister and the battery was a little heavy, particularly as short as I am, though age and physical conditioning could also be a factor. While my friend felt the weight, it didn’t bother her, but she gave me a heads-up before I used it. Overall, we both think this is a great machine.

Handy
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First off, I am a huge fan of all things Shark/Ninja, and this review will show I Have owned multiple blenders, robot vacuums, carpet cleaners and regular vacuums. Every product is innovative, reliable, but most of all, affordable The box that this cordless vacuum comes in did an excellent job protecting the product on the way to a home delivery Unboxing was uneventful, with the packing material coming apart without damaging the product There is a quick start guide, but in reality, it was lacking. Most of it was intuitive, but I did have to use the QR code and my phone to find out what and where one part went. It was not integral, but it finished the set-up The vacuum is exactly what you would expect from Shark/Ninja. It pulled dirt from bare floor through shag carpeting effortlessly. The vacuum knew what it was on, and the level of dirt, and adjusted accordingly The one feature that sold me on it when I purchased it, and continues now that we use it, is the automatic bin collector. It evacuates the dirt from the vacuum without any trash "mishaps" or getting your hands dirty The only warning is that when you first plug it in, it will do a quick evacuation from the empty chamber which may startle you. No worries, it shuts off in a few seconds Overall another innovative home appliance from Shark

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I hate this vacuum. It’s unreliable and breaks every time I use it.
