Great Robot Vacuum, Just OK Mop

The new Shark Vacuum and Mop PowerDetect NeverTouch Pro is a nice step up from my previous PowerDetect Vacuum only, but not for the reason you might think. The new Pro does indeed offer a full 2-in-1 vacuum and mopping experience, but feel only the vacuum part is truly excellent. The biggest advantage the new Pro has is that when vacuuming it doesn't get stuck on my furniture. This was the biggest issue I ran into with my previous model and I would always have to section off areas on the map just to avoid the issues. The new Pro gets around everything much better due to the ability to raise itself if it gets stuck. A seemingly small improvement, but a very big one in practice. Once the machine mapped my house and I let it roam free to vacuum it did a fantastic job taking care of itself. It emptied itself and would return home when the battery was low. I never once had to hunt for it or carry it back to the home base. Fantastic job Shark! The mopping portion is more a bonus feature in my book. On repeated attempts to mop my kitchen it missed spots. What is unusual is that in vacuuming mode I did not see the same behavior. The areas it does mop are done well enough, but I do not see it being used for larger, dirtier jobs. It is more of a maintenance mop than a clean up on aisle 5. The vacuum is excellent and I will continue to use that feature, but the mopping probably less so. My bigger concern is long term durability. The additional features and their mechanics add a lot of complexity to the system. I will be curious to see how long it lasts. My vacuum only PowerDetect is still kicking after a couple years. I can only hope this one manages the same. I must also point out, the docking station is rather big. It is much bigger than the last generation self-emptying vacuum thanks to the mopping component of this model. So make sure to factor in the space you'll need. Overall, I like the new PowerDetect NeverTouch Pro, but really for the outstanding vacuum job it does than the mop functionality. Your mileage with the machine might vary and software updates might improve the mopping experience, but that is where we are at today. Come for the mopping, but stay for the vacuum.

I have had multiple roombas. This shark blows them out of the water. I habe had Roomba vacuums and the braava jet m6 mop. The shark is better at both mopping and vacuuming and it actually docks itself with no errors. The roomba would always be hit and miss with docking. The only grip i have ismthe app. It works, it gets the job done, but the app is soooo basic and needs a major total redesign. I got this shark on sale for 699.00 and it was worth it.

wow why didn't anyone else think of this before? I have had other models and or other brands of these robot vacuum and mop. nothing compares to the shark one. i barely have to attend to it. the base is huge but well worth it. if you are a really busy person this is the type of robot vacuum/ mop that is worth the investment. strong suction power, it can lift itself over most obstacles because I have some wires on the floor that my other robot could not go over and a high saddle in the bathroom. i don't have to carry the robot in there anymore!!! the shark one did it with no issues. the trash bin is on the side of the base. You don't need to touch the robot. it has a water tank that is good for about a month. plus, it cleans the pad after every charge. this pad will get dirty its not a gimmick that the base cleans it well. so this robot mops different than the other robots i have it took out some of my tough stains by rotating instead of just passing over it various times. and the corners are clean it blows air to get the debris out of those annoying corners. you really have to seee this thing in action. there is also an app, and you can program it with Wi-Fi.

We have owned several robot vacuums but this our first Shark branded device. Once it arrived It was simple to unpack and setup, and more specifically the self mapping function worked quite well. We placed the base in an out of the way corner in our main living space and let it go to work. At first we just used the vacuum function…and we were quite impressed. I would say that the Shark performed as good if not better then our previous robot vacuums (and for the record our previous vacuum was the competitor’s top of the line model costing far more than the Shark). Unfortunately the first time we tried the mop function, it was a total failure. The Shark went to the middle of the room and literally just dumped all of its’s water. It then stated that it was out of water (duh - it’s all over the floor!) and returned to its base. Upon returning, it got stuck in a loop of “water tank empty” and “have to change the pad”. Additionally we could not figure out how to reset the unit. After some searching on the internet we were able to get it out of loop it was stuck in and return to its base. At this point we were torn and were considering just using the Shark as a vacuum (as it did do a wonderful job vacuuming). After some time we finally decided to try the mopping function a second time. And I am happy to report it worked as designed. Furthermore, it has worked as designed in each subsequent attempt to mop. However, I must report that in my opinion the mopping function isn’t as robust as the vacuuming function. It does an acceptable job of mopping in general, but it was not successful in removing any of the tougher spots on the floor (those places in which you might have to lean into when mopping by hand). In summary, I would say that the Shark Robot Vacuum and Mop Power Detect Never Touch Pro is good, just not great (we had hoped for more). As a vacuum, I would have given it a great review, but the mopping function holds it back. In full transparency, we will continue to use the Shark as our primary device (happily letting it both mop and vacuum). Knowing that we will have to continue spot mopping more difficult spots and that we will need to be there when it runs (in case it decides to dump all of its water on the floor again).

I’m honestly so impressed—this is one of the best purchases I’ve ever made! My Shark Vacmop Robot leaves my floors feeling spotless, even when I walk barefoot. It does a great job distinguishing between carpet and hard floors, and it picks up everything in its path. One of my favorite parts is the cleaning solution that comes with it—it smells amazing! It’s soft, subtle, and not overpowering at all. I bought it because I was tired of constantly vacuuming and mopping, and this robot has taken that chore off my plate. It does take its time to clean 1hr for sure depending on square footage of home mine is 2500sqft, so I recommend running it when no one is walking around to avoid confusing its navigation. The first night I got it, I just sat on the couch and watched it work, I really wanted to make sure I was going to like it enough to keep it—I was seriously impressed. The app is super easy to use, and I love that you can choose which rooms to clean and which to skip. It mapped my entire home in just one run, and it’s surprisingly gentle around furniture—no rough bumps or scuffs at all. I live in a two-story home and only use it downstairs, but that works perfectly for me. It charges quickly, and the water/solution tanks only need to be refilled about once a week. Overall, I absolutely love it!

The NeverTouch Pro is very much a vacuum built for the gadget lovers among us. This highly capable floor cleaner tries to address a host of minor complaints with elaborate engineering solutions which, for the most part, work in its favor. But it does come with a few tradeoffs and absent features that might prove to be dealbreakers for those looking for more precise control over their cleaning regimen. To start, there is a pretty long list of areas where the vacuum did very well. Setup was fairly quick and mostly painless, with the most complicated bit proving to be figuring out where to set up the (admittedly quite large) base station that would meet all the criteria provided (a hard floor, no direct sunlight, with at least moderate clearance on three sides. The vacuum itself came fully assembled and the base station only required the addition of a small ramp and the removal of a lot of packing material, so I had it unpacked and charging in preparation for its first cleaning run in less than an hour. I deliberately avoided cleaning my home for a couple days before getting it to see how it did in a worst case scenario, so it embarked into a home with mixed tile and carpet stuffed with spills, dust, fall leaves, and shed fur from both a dog and a cat. By the time it was done, little to none of this mess remained. The navigation system proved to be second to none, deftly steering around hazards, chairs, and household pets to generate a very accurate floorplan of the area it was responsible for. Cleaning performance is likewise very good on both hard floors and carpeting. Given how quiet it was when it first ran I was a little concerned it might not have the suction power to handle larger debris or dirt that had been ground into the carpet but it proved surprisingly adept at both. Mopping performance is likewise quite good. It's using a flat mopping pad rather than rotating brushes, which isn't quite as effective and getting out hard stains, but they've compensated for this to a degree by letting it lightly scrub it back and forth as it goes and giving it a pretty decent set of sensors to let it identify when multiple passes are needed. It's also able to extend the mop pad all the way to the edge of the robot - letting it get into corners in a way that I don't think anything else on the market can really compete with at the moment. And once it was done the base did a great job of cleaning out both the robot and the mop pad, so you really do almost never need to touch it apart from emptying the bin and gray water tank, doing a monthly filter cleaning, or refilling the cleaning solution tank. They even thought to include a small carbon filter/air freshener to cut down on exhaust odors. Finally while the parts all look very sturdy, I'm pleased to say that pretty much everything can be easily swapped out with replacements available from the Shark online store, so with a bit of care it can last you a very long time. Unfortunately there is a bit more to the story than its raw cleaning performance, which does need to be addressed. First up is the fact that the app being used to control the vacuum is surprisingly rudimentary compared to the vacuum itself. It's got everything it needs to achieve minimal functionality but a lot of small quality of life improvements that I'd typically expect from a flagship robot are curiously absent. Biggest being that scheduling only allows you to launch a routine to clean the entire house (with or without the mop) at a specific single time during the day. This is, to be frank, off-putting. Most of my home would be fine getting vacuumed every other day or so but there are a few high traffic areas that quite frankly could probably benefit from getting multiple daily runs. Giving me the option to set that up seems like a no brainer. I don't know why this function is missing and the app FAQ suggests they might add it in the future, but as a long-time user of Shark Vacuums they've been saying that long enough at this point that I'm losing hope it'll happen. The second big issue I had was with the dock. I think every robot vacuum out there has some very specific rules on how the charging dock should be placed in your home. And in my experience, you can usually bend or outright ignore most of them without much issue. This vacuum will not let you get away with that. You really do need to make sure it's going down on a hard level floor or the odds of the vacuum successfully being able to dock drop significantly - which can be a drawn out and annoyingly loud process as it tries to fix it. And you can absolutely forget about trying to put it on carpet or a rug unless you want it to shoot water into it on a regular basis every time if pulls out the mop. Because while it has the intelligence and agility to avoid dampening an area rug while it's out cleaning up, I'm pretty sure it doesn't start looking for them until it's already set up and ready to go. Finally, there seems to be a huge issue with smart home integration if you have more than one Shark vacuum in the home (something that's becoming increasingly common on homes with multiple floors. While the app itself handles this scenario very well, when linking it to my Google Home the app only passed along information for the first vacuum I'd added to it. As a result I'm unable to activate the new one with voice commands to deal with smaller messes, and always have to dig out my phone to start spot cleaning jobs from the app. Hopefully, at least some of these issues can be solved with future firmware/app updates. The hardware on display here is ridiculously good, so it would be a very good time for Shark to pivot and focus on bringing the software side up to snuff. But, again, the status quo has existed for too long for me to be confident that'll be how it goes. So if you think you can make do with its current eccentricities, the superior cleaning performance makes it an easy recommendation.

Robot Vacuum You Don’t Have to Think About

=-_Setup_-= Setup was fairly easy, there’s a large cardboard cutout included in the box that will walk you through the setup process. The base just needs the ramp attached, attaching the side brush on the vacuum, and filling up the water reservoir. There’s also an air freshener that fits in top of the base to keep the dust bin odor down. Unless I totally missed it, I would have liked to have seen something that shows me what each of the buttons on the vacuum does. I’ve had to press each of them to figure out what they do. Also, a user manual or at least a downloadable user manual would be nice too just to have an offline reference for features, use and care, and troubleshooting. First time use requires it to charge on the base until at least 70% battery which doesn’t take too long at all. The first run will do a mapping of your house which takes a bit depending on the size of your home. Once complete, you can review the map, label rooms, and set no-go spaces on the map. =-_Cleaning_-= Shark does cleaning a bit differently than some other vacuum and mop combos I’ve seen or used. First, the robot will do a vacuum run on the carpeted areas of your home. This is to get up any particulates that could be throughout the house that would affect it’s ability to mop. It does this without the mop attached to the robot. Then it’ll come back, grab the mop, and refill it’s tank if needed, to vacuum and mop the areas that are laminate or hard wood. It does a great job of vacuuming. We have 4 cats and I barely notice any dander on the floor since we’ve had it. Since we’ve recently moved we’ve also had some more foot traffic than usual, but you wouldn’t be able to tell. I run it once daily, both mopping and vacuuming since most of our floors are laminate. It does great with mopping. The mopping pad oscillates as it moves along the floor and it puts down a good amount of cleaning solution too which I like. When it’s done with a clean cycle, it’ll go back to the base and empty it’s bin. Occasionally the mop head will be cleaned. The vacuum will announce the task before it performs it and it takes several minutes to do so. I couldn’t get a good look at the cleaning process, but it cleans then dry’s the mop head so it’s ready for next use. This process is a bit loud, so I would advise against running a clean cycle while watching TV or at night to avoid the disturbance. I’ve only had very minimum issues with navigation. If there’s a ledge or floor mat the robot is struggling to get over, it has the ability to raise it’s wheels to push over the obstacle. With this feature I’ve had no issues with kitchen floor mats which have been troublesome for other vacuums. You really do need to make sure the base has enough room for the robot to find and dock with the base. I had to reposition the base because the vacuum had trouble finding it. I pulled it away from the wall a few inches to give it some space next to the pantry that was next to it. It is good to note that like some other vacuums, the Shark’s navigation doesn’t rely on the room to be well lit, so no need to turn on all the lights to vacuum. =-_Software_-= There’s a lot you can do with the app too. Within the app you can create a map of your home, setup no-go zones, and spot clean. If you’ve moved around your furniture you can remap your home. Also you can clean on a schedule, mopping on some days, vacuuming on others, or both. The only limitation is you can currently only schedule one cleaning run per day, any additional runs will have to be triggered manually. Also a few quick things within the app worth mentioning. There’s a notification center to notify if there’s any issues with the Shark. There’s a history where you can look at runtime, square footage cleaned, and where DirtDetect was activated. You can also adjust settings such as notification volume, language, and more. =-_Final Thoughts_-= I’m very happy with the Shark Power Detect Pro. I think shark took notice of the robot vacuum industry and asked where they could be different and do better, and they did. I like how the dock has a mop pad cleaning system so you know you’re floors are getting cleaned with a clean pad as well as the “Never Stuck Technology” that lifts it over obstructions.

A robot that cleans up after itself, true autonomy

I've always liked the idea of robots doing your chores like in the sci-fi movies. Robotic vacuum cleaners try to deliver on that idea, lately just missing the mark. Robotic vacuums I've gotten in the past few years have been progressively better at doing their task, be it vacuuming or mopping. The constant issue is to clean up the robot, like changing a diaper, emptying the bin or cleaning and drying the mop pad. It's a tediousness that prevents me from wanting to use them with any degree of normalcy. I can happily say I've set up a daily cleaning schedule with the new PowerDetect NeverTouch Pro from our friends at Shark/Ninja. What they lack in countertop appliances, they more than make up for in cleaning tech. This cleaner makes it easy to use it and forget it, at least for about a month or so. The package comes with everything you need to start cleaning including the concentrate for the mop. This 2 in 1 unit requires no supervision, no changing modules, no emptying bins, not even cleaning and drying pads. You are literally spoiled with self sufficiency. Setup is a breeze, place the base in an open space, connect the ramp, insert the deodorizer, fill the tank with supplied solution and fill remaining with water, done. Plug it in and place the robot on the contacts to charge. Once charged, send it out for a mapping run of your house. Using the lasers and infrared sensors, it doesn't physically have to cover the entire space to know where everything is and what to avoid. There's a conveniently located power bar on the top of the robot to give you an idea how much power it has; vacuuming takes up less battery than mopping. On it's first run, I noticed how it lifted the back end about 3 inches to go over thresholds and HVAC grates showing its Never Stuck feature. It carefully navigated around furniture without banging into it constantly. The mopping run yielded some interesting results, whereby the pad would extend to get closer to the wall and cover more area effectively. Not only that, but it also located a stuck-on stain and went over it multiple times until it was all but gone. It did a better job than any previous unit I had, including a Shark product I highly prize. But the fun's not over, once done, it went back to base and dropped the mop pad into a receptacle where it was cleaned and quietly dried. Granted, the drying process came with a low hum that was a bit persistent as it took several hours to dry. Fortunately, it can go out and vacuum while leaving the pad behind. I think it's a positive that Shark has eliminated the dust bag that requires replacement once full, one less expenditure. The cleaning solution can be purchased in larger sizes for reasonable savings, considering how long it lasts, it's worth it. The app even makes clever suggestions on what to name it, Moptimus Prime is ready to roll out!

For all the robot vacuums I have used in the past decade, this has been the best so far. As a main floor vacuum with carpet, hardwood floors, and a maze of tables and chairs, this vacuum handles it all with no trouble. One of the best features is it's auto empty and pad washing, but it does not require extra proprietary bags to use it. The setup for this product was simple as all instructions are provided from the start. There is a large instructions poster that is impossible to miss, and the app guides you the rest of the way. It is not exactly a small unit, so expect to make some space for it compared to other robot vacuums. For the first operation, it does a vacuum/map function. If there is a solid enough wall (something without a lot of gaps), the sensor will see it and the vacuum will not hit it. I saw that it is extremely delicate when bumping into things it was not able to detect. During the mopping session, the robot was able to detect when it was running over carpet and it will lift itself to not get the carpet wet. If your area is large enough, the robot will return to base to refill and wash the pads before finishing the job. I found it does an excellent job overall, although it will not get the very edge against the walls when mopping. When it is running it's course, don't expect it to be quiet, especially during the emptying phase. The unit does include their odor neutralizing system, but it is just for the dust bin. It would have been nice to be able to use it on the vacuum itself. The path detection was good enough to navigate the mess of chairs around the dining table, and was able to figure an exit path after going under one of the chairs as well. The robot will go over a decent amount; I had some foam floor mats that are about 3/4 inch high with a steep ramp and it does climb that without a problem. The only time it got stuck that I noticed, was when there was a gap that the robot was able to get under, but because partway through it was carpet, the wheels raised the robot and it was not able to proceed. Luckily, it seems to be able to detect when it is not able to move and immediately notifies you. Overall, this is an excellent robot vacuum and competes with many of the more pricey brands. For what it offers and ability to not rely on extra bags, it is a great choice for anyone looking to have a little help on the side.

This is the most amazing automated cleaning solution I have ever tested out. It can run multiple surfaces completely hands off with very minimal upkeep needed. The autodetection of carpeted areas is very strong. My home has tile in the entryway from the front door, then carpet, then hardwoods in the kitchen and dining room. This unit is able to detect what is what and clean appropriately every time so far. This is the first robot that I have seen that will automate switching between mopping and vacuuming to clean the entire area without manually having to switch between mop and vacuum modes. It is truly full floor cleaning automation. I switched to this from a unit that did both as well but required changing out the mop attachment each time. In addition to all of that, maintenance and cleaning is also very easy. There are no dust bags, just a compartment to empty when it gets full. Same goes for both the clean water for mopping and the dirty water post-mop. I have yet to hit the point of full/empty after running this unit 3 times per week for the last week and a half, so I'd estimate maybe once per month depending on how big of an area you need cleaned, how often you run the robot, and how dirty things are each time. Setup is quite easy using the app, mapping the area is quick and painless as well. I will note if you are new to these units with large stands, the stand is quite large and you need some space around it to help the unit navigate to and from it's home base. Prepare to have some good wall space near an outlet. Ultimately, automating the multiple floor type cleaning process makes this one worth the investment. It's a bit pricey for sure, but the time you save in getting things done is far more valuable.

This is the third shark robot vacuum cleaner I've owned. The first one I had was really good. The second one added the self-empty base and was better still. And the PowerDetect NeverTouch Pro is the best yet. Not only does it vacuum, but it mops, as well. How effective is it? We have a Siberian Husky. Not only does he shed, but we haven’t been able to train him to wipe his feet when he comes in, so he brings in dirt on our vinyl floor. So we need a good day-to-day vacuum cleaner, as well as something to clean the Dirt off the floor. The power detect is a great solution for both. There's so much technology in this vacuum, like EdgeDetect, which blows air along edges and in corners to move debris so it can be picked up by the vacuum. NeverStuck technology allows it to lift itself up over obstacles. So far it hasn't gotten stuck once. And DirtDetect senses heavy or dirt and increases suction to make sure things get clean. Shark robot vacuums have always been the best as far as I’m concerned, but with the new sensors I feel that vacuuming is even more effective. But what really amazes me is just now much dirt gets removed using the mopping feature. Normally we mop once a week, but the convenience of the PowerDetect NeverTouch makes is easy to mop more regularly and enjoy cleaner floors all week. I highly recommend this robot vacuum cleaner. It's an amazing time-saver, and it does a fantastic job of vacuuming and mopping.

The only worthwhile feature is its self-emptying and water-refilling capability, but overall, this robot vacuum isn’t worth the price. The app is glitchy and lacks basic functions found in other models, like tracking the robot’s path or stopping an action mid-command. For example, if you press “Home” and change your mind, you’re stuck waiting until it returns to the base before selecting another function. It also struggles with no-go zones, often getting stuck instead of avoiding them. The mopping performance is underwhelming, leaving many spots untouched. Additionally, its tall design prevents it from reaching areas that previous robot vacuums could.

This never touch base does not work, you have to touch it at least every other day. The never stick doesn’t work because the vacuum gets stuck on thin rugs (bathroom rugs), for some reason if the little rug gets stuck on the vacuum the robot will drag or push the rug around the house. I bought the vac/mop because my previous shark robot had done such a good job but this mopping robot requires constant attention. I wrote a review about how this robot had smeared dog poop all over the house and shark would not post the review. Never buying this garbage again, never buying shark or ninja because the company censors their reviews.

The vacuuming is great, but the drying mop pad feature is AWFUL. It does not work. I exchanged it to see if it would work, but same thing happened. It says it is drying but doesn't.
