Amazing Before…but after, wow! Where do I start.

1st and foremost. I love this machine. I’ve had several gaming PCs from Hp to cyber power. And those PCs where good. But their cases were just too generic. I care about performance but I also care about looks. And this acer predator is beautiful with a sleek yet flashy design with 2 RGB (rifle bearing)140mm fans up front and a 120mm in back for exhaust. Predator blue led up top is nice too but I wish that was RGB. But I understand that is the color scheme for the predator pc. As far as performance this has almost every newly spec’d component out. I7 12700f is plenty fast for gaming at 1440p and 4K as well. This processor like all 12th gen intel run hot and will need upgrading to the stock cooler. About that stock cooler, while I get that it’s pretty and kinda beefy with a 120mm fan attached. It’s not enough and I’m guessing it’s partly because of the lack copper and overall size. While running predator sense the CPU was hitting 100•C. That’s while playing warzone and demanding games at max resolution settings. That’s not great for longevity. So I decided to upgrade the cooler to a tower cooler with 2 fans in a push-pull configuration. The cpu now runs about 30-40•c cooler. I highly recommend if you know what to do. You will need to remove the entire motherboard as this pc case doesn’t have the cut out in the back side of the case. Took me about an hour. But worth it. Tho keep in mind this might void warranty.?! 3080 is a beast as most pc enthusiast already know. Acers variant is a 3 fan design which is great for cooling.Usually only hit 80•c max. Also they included a black gpu plate which is also great for sturdiness and looks. I personally removed the gpu sag bracket as I believe it blocks some air from the front top fan. Boot drive is plenty fast at gen 4 speeds. Plenty of space at 1TB with an additional nvme slot on the side. Oddly placed but kinda cool at the same time. Ddr5 is fast as well next gen with speeds at 4400mhz. That’s about where you start off I plan on upgrading to maybe 5200mhz. I believe it’s his board can handle those speeds. I believe this board is an in house acer predator h670. This is a great board from what I’ve seen on YouTube not a budget board by any means. The Ram is plain green pcb but it’s hidden underneath the new tower cooler. Not a big deal. Power supply is a max 800watt liteon brand I think. I know they mainly make laptop chargers. So they are very reputable. The overall cooling is fine but as you can see I upgrade a lot so I added 2 120mm on top for more air flow. Acer was very clever with this part as you can unscrew the top plate and remove to easily add fans and access the fan and argb ports. So so smart. Makes it easier to upgrade. WiFi is super fast if you have the newest router. I run hard wired so even faster and more reliable speeds. I wanted to detail my upgrades so for those who want the best machine to run even better, know what to look for. This pc is very well thought out designed and specs are amazing for the price. Even the keyboard and mouse are better those most included. RGB lights are controllable by predator sense software. Works great minus the syncing of the interior lights and the keyboard and mouse. Minor lag. See pics for more details on PC before and after upgrades. If you are in the market for a top of the line prebuilt. This is definitely a beast of a machine. Even if you leave it as it is. One thing I don’t love is windows 11. It is fine and all but if you get a bad version of any specific app it may cause the system to freeze. I had to uninstall Firefox as I believe that was the culprit. In case you have this issue try that. Good luck and happy gaming y’all!

2 month review: Amazing prebuilt desktop that I bought during the Black Friday sale for 1800. I missed the sale that had it for 1750, but its well worth the price. Sure, you can build your own, but when it comes to warranty and faulty parts you'll be on your own there contacting the manufacturer. With GS from Best Buy, they'll help out if there are any hardware issues especially in this time of delayed shipping for computer parts. One of my friends got a replacement 30 series GPU within a day of having his own prebuilt messing up(he bought a cyberpower prebuilt). First impressions were that this thing is HUGE!!! It's a large tower in comparison to my old mid size Omen gaming from HP. The intel CPU & Nvidia GPU are high end and make this system run almost anything on the highest settings. Cooling is fairly decent as well. Prebuilts usually have cooling issues as many companies skimp out on the cooling systems, but with 3 intake fans, cpu fan, gpu radiator, and 1 outtake fan- this keeps your temps cool in the 60-75C range depending on the games and your preferred monitor resolutions. I use a QHD Dell monitor with 144HZ and it works like a dream in combination with this pc. ***I do want to note that you can edit the cooling through the "Predator Sense" APP that comes preinstalled onto this system. Just search it up in your programs upon start up. You can change you colors and customize your fan speeds. If you use the basic fan settings, you'll see your system heat up in the 70-74C range for online fps games like OW2 & COD. Though understand that this is normal temps for QHD & 4k resolution. You can even look up online comparison temps if you don't believe me. If you put the fans on the gaming mode- the system does get VERY loud, but you'll be able to play for hours on the end. I played for 10 hours straight after messing around with the custom fan settings(not max rpm/fan settings) and it never broke past 70C on this pc!!! So I was very impressed. The 1tb NVME drive turned out to be a Samsung drive and they do make excellent drives, so this was very nice. The system works very snappy and fast for all my gaming apps and productivity apps for work and online courses. 16GB DDR5 is nice for my needs too, You can upgrade this with several other brands so that's good. You can upgrade your memory(though adding a NVME drive does require removal of your GPU and its bracket as its GIANT). Though if you want to add any SSDs or HDDs, you have two slots at the bottom for EASY storage upgrading. You can also add more fans on the top, but it's very important to know that altering/adding any parts does void the warranty! That goes with any prebuilt hardware from Best Buy. So do proceed with caution if you do this. This system even came with Spider-man Remastered for free, which ran like smooth butter on this sweet system. Overall, for around 2K after taxes and 3 years of GS warranty, this prebuilt gaming pc is well worth the price for quality, cooling, and reliability. I will update if I encounter any issues, but so far, this runs like a dream tbh.

I’m new to gaming on a pc, but I really like this one. It runs a lot of the games that I like to play and it hasn’t overheated on any of them. I will say that it got kind of hot while running Fortnite, but my settings may have been a little too high so that’s something I’ll look into. Also, when changing the fans into gaming mode they can be a little loud, but when you have your headphones in it’s not much of a problem.

Very happy with this prebuilt, got it on sale 2 years ago at this point and it’s still an absolute monster. Only slight downside is 1tb off the line but that’s an easy fix.

I prefer to build PCs when possible, but time is valuable, and planning/troubleshooting custom builds is time-consuming, so if you are like me, you understand the appeal with the time savings of getting a pre-built PC. As with all products, nothing is truly perfect, but this Acer - Predator Orion 5000 (Model:PO5-640-UB12) is very close to perfection out of the box for a heavy gaming use case. I recommend upgrading the stock CPU heat sink, as Intel 12th generation Adler Lake runs hot, and per Intel's design will thermally throttle performance at 100°C. Constant high operating temperatures shortens the life span of electronics, and I like to take care of my equipment. I went into this PC fully aware that the stock CPU heat sink is not sufficient to cool the 12700F under sustained heavy workloads, so I did research on a new CPU cooling solution. Liquid cooling will get you better thermal cooling performance in comparison to air cooling, but at the cost of lower reliability and potential for catastrophic failures (i.e., liquid leaking from the cooler which short circuits your PC, worse case scenario with air cooling, is that a fan stops working, and you can replace the fan). You can likely understand why I decided to go the air cooling route, as the extra few degrees °C of cooling didn't weigh heavily into my use case. I used the Scythe Fuma Rev.B based on the review of the performance of this air cooler from Gamers Nexus. This heat sink fits perfectly in the case, and Scythe includes two extra fan clips, so you can reuse the existing Predator 120mm fan from the CPU cooler, and have a 3 fan 120mm fan CPU cooler setup with the Fuma heat sink. Just be aware, you will need to disassemble the PC in order to remove the motherboard from the case in order to install the LGA1700 mounting bracket for the Fuma heat sink, and subsequently reassemble it. That said, if you wish to go the liquid cooling route, there is space for a 240mm AIO liquid cooler at the top of the case. Overall, I recommend this PC as a good value for those want to save time and get the best pre-built with a RTX 3080.

-Great deal for what’s inside! Was concerned about cooling & no issues. Space does exist for a 240 AIO cooler to mount Below topside vent w screw holes already drilled out or additional push pull fans / easy to work inside -Found DDR5 compatible upgrade on the Crucial website with 4800 speed rating. -SSD isn’t the largest but 2 convenient expansion trays can be used if needed. -Kinda skimped on odd motherboard and conflicting information on the exact type of I7 (it’s an F type/ odd to save a few dollars on the F) Best I’ve found for the money and future proofing all things considered.

I'm happy with this PC it works great. A few minor cons if you plan to upgrade it. - I'm told pc caps the ddr5 at 4400mhz, hard to find ddr5 that slow. -the screw to the second m.2 was missing in my pc. - the 4th ddr5 slot is difficult to access. it sits under the fan/heatsink for the processor. Might also not be possible to install if the ram doesn't have low clearance.

The Acer Predator Orion 5000 with i7 and RTX 3080 is an absolute beast. It does a great job of checking off many of the important points sought out by gamers. Are you looking to max out your graphics in 4K? Check. How about running 240Hz in 1080P for competitive first-person shooters? Check. Other quick notes, the case itself is attractive. Obviously, that’s subjective, but I don’t many people would find it off putting. Decent amount of airflow. Comes with a gaming keyboard and mouse. Has modern support features like DDR5 RAM slots, and m.2 slots. Performance You should expect high performance from this setup. Anyone who keeps up with PC gaming components knows the combination of an RTX 3080 and a 12th gen i7 is quite the punch. This is a combination that will confidently futureproof you for the long term. For reference here’s a few games I play: Risk of Rain 2, PUBG, Overwatch. Here’s some performance notes for each: Risk of Rain 2: Maxed out settings, between 70 – 140 FPS. 1080P. PUBG: Maxed out settings, between 150 – 300 FPS. 1080P. Overwatch: Maxed out settings, between 130 – 180 FPS. 4K. The majority of the games I play, I play on my 1080P monitor because I strongly prioritize framerate over resolution. Some people might think this setup is overkill for 1080P, but I disagree. My 1080p monitor is 244Hz. That still squeezes every ounce of performance of this setup on maxed settings. However, older games like Overwatch I play in 4K since 150ish FPS is enough for me. Also, racing games like Forza Horizon 5 plays amazing in 4K. More than enough frames to be enjoyable. The performance of this PC will not disappoint regardless of your gaming preferences. Build Quality I took a good apart of this PC apart to check for quality. The biggest knock-on prebuilt PCs has always been the build quality and the quality of the component use. I didn’t find any real red flags. The motherboard is a custom motherboard, appears to be of reasonable quality. The RAM sticks are extremely basic. They have no heatsink, however this isn’t really concerning as RAM doesn’t really get hot enough. I removed the SSD to inspect it. It’s manufactured by Samsung which is a great SSD maker. I expect it to be reliable. The case fans provide good airflow and seem of decent quality. The GPU is exactly what you expect. It runs cool and has three fans. All in all, it appears to be of good quality, and I don’t foresee long-term issues. Conclusion If you aren’t interested in building your own PC, obviously you must buy a pre-built. Acer is a large computer company that makes PCs in all shapes and sizes. This should give them an edge as far as consumer trust. I am a fan of buying gaming PCs from companies that didn’t spring up a year ago. My point is, if you are going to buy a prebuilt gaming PC, go with a company like Acer. If this level of performance is something you are looking for, then the Orion 5000 is a great choice.

    Stellar High-End Gaming PC

The Acer Predator Orion 5000 is a pretty cool looking pre-built gaming pc right out of the box. The case is quite large and has a pretty good airflow despite having only one exhaust fan in the back, and the fans are pretty quiet. The computer boots up in a blink of an eye thanks to the Cable management is pretty good, Acer used a lot of fabric woven tape to hold down wires, particularly on the connections to the motherboard. Overall for a pre-build it seems like Acer really cares about quality and functionality, with the RAM and SSD coming from Samsung and the power supply from LiteOn. The Predator Orion is quick, powerful and all around a great gaming computer. It was able to handle almost everything I threw at it with ease, running on Ultra settings 4k with consistent framerates. Taking a deeper dive into the build, as far as expansion goes there is a hard drive cage that can fit two HDDs, mounts for two SSDs on the back side of the case, one extra m.2 slot (strangely placed to the right of the ram and above the graphics card facing outwards from the motherboard), two DIMM slots to expand the ram (although it might be a really tight fit with the shear size of the CPU fan heatsink, one more PCI slot for a capture card or whatever you need, and one expansion bay in slot in the top of the case that I haven't figured out yet. There are three very convenient USB 3.0 ports and a USB-C port right on top of the case, along with a microphone and headphone jack, all of which I greatly appreciated. Somethings I would have liked to see would have been a full ATX motherboard for even more expansion possibilities, heat-shielded ram sticks, and probably the most important being a 240mm radiator for the CPU cooling (this case will not fit a 360mm). But again, overall I am very pleased with this build. It works great for me. Would recommend for a high-end prebuilt gaming computer.
