Dell’s Alienware line of products has been a staple in the gaming industry for a while. Their popular logo is easily recognizable and is considered a mainstream quality brand. With more brands out with competitive products, there are lots of headsets to choose from. The Alienware Pro Wireless Gaming Headset is a nice option with features that are convenient for gaming. There are several things that I personally like about this headset and although they don't differentiate much from the competition in terms of aesthetics, they make it up with some nice hardware. With that being said, there are several “nice to have” features that I personally think all headphones should have and this headset hits the nail on the head. One of them is that both the ear muffs and head adjustment band are lined with soft and comfortable leatherette. The headband also does not have the annoying click while adjusting and as it slides and makes it harder for hair to be caught while adjusting them. After wearing them for a week for several gaming sessions, I did not get tired and want to throw them off! A second must have feature, in my opinion, are convenient and useful buttons. Along the sides of the headset are an On/Off button, volume control slider, mic mute slider, mode slider (for switching between bluetooth and wireless) and an On/Off Audio Noise Cancellation button. Now for the audio. The audio quality is just amazing with the 50mm drivers. Like other gaming headsets, you should be able to hear the small details like footsteps, far away shots in shooting games, conversations from NPCs as you walk by them in games like Assassin's Creed, and this headset is no different. Compared to other headphones I’ve used, these do have a good bass response and it helps bring an immersiveness with in-game explosions or just music in general. Another feature I noticed, compared to other headsets, is that the ANC works well. My only gripe though is that with it on and no audio playing, I am still able to hear my keyboard keys as I’m typing and other small noises like mouse clicks. It works well while gaming to completely block out noise but not completely in silence. There are three ANC modes that can be switched with the ANC button on the left ear: Off,On, and Transparency mode to adjust the intensity of ANC. After playing with each, I still felt disappointed in this area. To further adjust the ANC Transparency mode, Alienware’s Command Center will need to be installed through Dell’s website and can also be used to apply firmware upgrades. As for the mic quality, I did like how two microphones were added onto this headset. The second mic helps in noisier environments and using AI Noise Cancellation, can help tune out a friend’s annoying speaker in the background (as long as they have the same headset :) ) to only their voice. I didn’t receive any complaints as I used the mic and while there is slight difference in how your voice sounds, others I gamed with liked it better than my previous headset mic. Lastly, I simply enjoyed having a headset that was reliable and worked well with each of my consoles. I didn’t have any issues setting it up on my Switch through bluetooth nor through using the USB C dongle for my PS5 and PC. It lasted through each of my gaming sessions for over a week (with ANC On) and when it did die, I found that the fast charging the headset advertises really does work. Fast charging it (charging it with my 20W charger) for 15 minutes gave me another hour of use before I ended my session and decided to fully charge them. Overall, the Pro headset is simple and straightforward, a headset geared towards Alienware and gaming fans without any nonchalant gimmicks. The audio truly is fantastic and brings another level of immersion into games. ANC works great as your gaming and your teammates being able to hear you better through the AI Noise Cancellation is also a nice plus. The Pro headset is a great choice for a regular or gaming headset and has strong features against the competition.

The Alienware Pro Wireless Gaming headset is a really impressive headset that is almost perfect. There are a few notable shortcomings that will make-or-break the purchase for some people, but for me the pros of the Alienware headset are enough for it to become my primary gaming headset for now. #Unboxing and first impressions# The Alienware Pro Wireless gaming headset comes in a standard cardboard box without much wow factor. The headset is almost entirely cardboard/recyclable which is a plus. The included accessories are the USB-A to USB-C cable, the USB-C dongle, and an adapter to use the dongle in a USB-A port. It doesn't come with a bag or anything else. The primary "boom" microphone is detachable and has molding around the tip to make it only plug into the headset in a particular orientation (and can also be done easily by feel). Unfortunately, the mic is not a "flip to mute" style, but there is a mute button that is easy to find by feel. When muted, there is a ring near the tip of the mic that glows red, which is a nice visual cue for yourself or others who might want to talk but aren't sure if you're in a live voice chat. The Alienware Pro has a physical switch for power as well as changing from dongle to Bluetooth mode. This is a closed back headset which provides some noise isolation even without using the built-in active noise cancelling. One plus for me is the noise canceling remembers what setting you used last when you power on the headset, so you don't always have to turn it on or off per your preference. Like the mic mute button, the ANC button is easy to find by feel. The headset's leatherette ear pads are very plush and as a result the Alienware Pro is extremely comfortable to wear for long periods - perhaps the most comfortable headset or headphone I've worn recently. #Using the headset# The Alienware Pro is pre-paired with the dongle in the box so using it immediately was a simple affair. I'm glad that Alienware chose to provide a USB-C dongle plus the adapter for USB-A, as this offers a lot of flexibility for where you can use the headset without needing to find a separate adapter if you're out of USB-C ports. While no software is needed to make use of the headset, you do need to find and download Alienware Command Center 6.4 or newer to use the headset. I had an older version already for a previous reviewed product, and it was actually pretty tough to find the newer version. The quick start guide brought me to a dell website for downloading drivers and even when using the service tag (serial number) for my headset I was only able to find verion 6.2 of AWCC. Eventually I did a little googling and was able to find the latest version - not a great experience for a premium product. Once you have the AWCC software, you unlock the free license for Dolby Atmos via the Dolby Access app. Strangely, the AWCC app itself offers zero sound adjustment for the Alienware Pro headset - you must use the Dolby Access app to configure EQ or other sound modes. This is my primary complaint that keeps the Alienware Pro from getting a perfect score for me - there just isn't a lot of adjustment possible for the headset, and what is possible requires using two different apps. The sound quality of the headset is very good, but again held back by some flaws that I think can be fixed by firmware. In fact, one issue I had (a low level hiss even at low volumes) before installing AWCC was fixed by a firmware update that applied once I'd installed the software. The main issue I have with the sound of the Alienware Pro is that it is EXTREMELY over-driven. With the sound at about 30% volume, it's already staying pretty constant at around 80 db and peaking over 90db on some loud sounds. Above 50 or 60%, the headset is constantly clipping and sounds terrible. Below about 40% it sounds fantastic and well-balanced for a wireless headset. I think Alienware need to re-think their firmware and adjust the amplitude so the current ~60% is the new max, which will give us a lot more flexibility to adjust the volume to suit our tastes without being too loud and overdriven. Also, kind of strange but the amount of bass changes based on whether ANC is on or in transparency/off. With ANC on, the bass is extremely clean and powerful sounding, and actually among the best closed headphones I've used, wireless or not. But when you switch to transparency mode or ANC off, the bass drops off significantly and doesn't sound terribly good. It's not very noticeable unless you're listening to something with a lot of bass in the sub 40hz range, though. Again, something that can be fixed in firmware or maybe even with EQ settings, but having to switch back and forth between AWCC and Dolby Access for this isn't a great user experience. Mic quality is above average and I discovered a little bonus when testing the microphone - the Alienware headset has mics built onto the headphone itself that work even with the boom mic removed. So if you use this as a mobile headset paired to your phone, without the boom mic, you can still make phone calls or do voice chat. Sound quality is a bit worse and you don't get the same level of "AI" noise removal, but it's still a pretty cool feature that enhances the versatility of this headset. Coupled with the subtle nature of the styling of the Alienware Pro, you could definitely use this as a "lifestyle" headphone to wear on the go, if you choose. I'm planning to start using it at work, actually, since the noise cancelling works so well. #Final thoughts# Alienware have really surprised me with the products I've been able to review. They seem to have really made an effort to make quality, grown-up products for gamers that don't scream "GAMER!!!" With a few firmware tweaks, the Alienware Pro Wireless could be a perfect headset for me, but even without those tweaks, I plan to use this headset for most of my gaming sessions and even for virtual meetings at work on occasion. Hopefully they get the kinks worked out, too.

There was a time when Alienware was known for its over-the-top, flashy products with excessive amounts of RGB and bulky designs. With its new Pro gaming headset, its clear the company went back to the drawing board to come up with an accessory that would appeal to almost every gamer or PC user. This Pro headset is lightweight, incredibly comfortable, and delivers very good audio quality and battery life. === DESIGN AND COMFORT === - I'm a big fan of the minimalist design of the Alienware Pro headset, especially since I tend to wear a headset most of the day for both work and gaming. The sleek and slim look of the Pro headset means I can confidently wear it while on video calls and not worry about getting strange looks. - The first thing I noticed was how plush the earcups and headband are. The padding has just the right amount of give without being too soft or firm. The material of the earcups and headband is very soft and smooth. - Compared to other gaming headsets I've used, the Alienware Pro is very lightweight. I've worn it for hours on end and can barely tell it's there. - The clamping force is also nicely balanced and I have not experienced any fatigue or pressure when wearing the headset. - The headband is very easy to adjust for different head sizes. The earcups smoothly glide up and down with minimal resistance. - The microphone attaches to the left earcup. While I'm glad it can be easily removed when not needed, I miss the retractable microphone I had on my previous headset. When the microphone is attached to this headset, it's hard to push or angle it out of your line of sight when not needed. So I usually end up detaching it and leaving it on my desk until needed for gaming or a video call. - The physical controls on the earcups are intuitive and easy to access. The left earcup is where you'll find most of the controls, including the volume dial, microphone mute button, a button to control noise cancellation, the USB-C port, and slot for the microphone attachment. The right earcup has only the power switch and a toggle to move between 2.4 GHz and Bluetooth connections. === AUDIO QUALITY, CONNECTIVITY, AND SOFTWARE === - The Alienware Pro headset can connect to your devices via 2.4 GHz (using the included USB dongle) or Bluetooth. My biggest complaint about this headset is that you can't use both connections simultaneously -- a huge limitation if you want to hear audio (or take calls) from your computer and phone at the same time. My previous headset had this feature and I loved not having to manually swap connections when I received a call on my iPhone while listening to audio on my computer. - You can also use the headset over a wired USB-C connection, which allows for high-res audio. - I'm no audiophile, but this headset sounds excellent to me. It can get incredibly loud without any noticeable distortion. Highs seem very detailed and bass is very deep. However, at higher volumes, the bass tends to fade away and higher frequencies take over. So the sweet spot for volume seems to be right around 40 to 60 percent for a balanced mix of lows and highs. - Games sound incredible with this headset. Playing Alan Wake 2, I can hear footsteps and voices as if they are right behind me. The music and dialog in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle sounds clear, rich, and full. - Microphone quality is mediocre at best. I recorded myself to test, and my voice sounds very flat and robotic, like a cheap call center headset. It's fine for casual use and gaming, but I wouldn't count on this to record your podcasts. - The Alienware Command Center software can be used to change certain settings on the headset such as the noise cancelling transparency level and microphone volume, but it doesn't offer much else besides that. I was hoping there would be some options for audio customizations. === NOISE CANCELLING AND BATTERY LIFE === - The active noise cancelling feature of the Alienware Pro headset gets the job done, but it certainly does not come close to matching the best ANC headphones offered by other mainstream brands. Importantly, it successfully cancels out the fan noise from my PC as well as other low-frequency sounds around my house (such as my air conditioner and tower fan). But it doesn't do as well with higher frequencies such as voices or clicks from my mechanical keyboard. This wouldn't be the headset I would grab to bring on an airplane, but the ANC works well enough for home use. - Battery life on this headset is remarkable. Alienware claims that the headset will last up to 70 hours when connected over the 2.4 GHz connection, and 75 hours when on Bluetooth. This seems accurate to me -- after a full 8 hour day with the headset on and connected to my PC via 2.4 GHz, the battery level reported in the Alienware Command Center was at 87 percent. === OVERALL == I'm very impressed by the Alienware Pro headset. It has a sleek, comfortable design that will appeal to almost anyone. Notable drawbacks include the lack of a simultaneous 2.4 GHz + Bluetooth connection, poor microphone quality, and mediocre noise cancellation. But these things do not detract from the excellent design, audio quality, and battery life of the headset. Hopefully, Alienware will continue this trend with its other gaming accessories: a focus on the basics without the flashy and gimmicky features.

With so much competition in this space, Alienware still seems to carve out a reason to buy this pro headset. First and foremost, they stepped up their design game. Everything looks and feels as though real thought were given to quality in form and function. This is apparent with the new ‘grown-up’ design language these bring. Instead of flashy RGB gimmicks or chunky plastic, these have a very smooth form and silhouette. They feel great in the hand and are angled and cushioned in all the right places. This is good, as they cannot fold or collapse down like many other offerings do. - I think of this as a headset you leave at your desk rather than bring with you everywhere (a lack of case included accentuates this.) — Design & Usability: Beyond what I already mentioned above, this headset has a nice soft-touch plastic finish that feels durable, and plenty of vegan leather at the ear cups and wrapping all sides of the headband. While I like it, I do have some concerns on how durable this material will be in time. Other headsets with similar materials have broken down fairly quickly… in ear cups at least. With it also wrapping the headband, I find myself a bit more careful when setting them down on a desk. I’d hate for surface abrasion to accelerate wear on the more taught edges there. Only time will tell, but I find them very comfortable. My last gripe is that these have smelled fairly strongly of foam off-gassing at the ear cups since unboxing them. In a longer listening session this began to bother me bit. The good news is that after about 5 days, it seems to finally be dissipating. An aspect of these I really love are the easy-to-feel-for buttons and controls. The big volume knob is the easiest to find, while other buttons have clear placements and textures that really help you figure them out quickly. The detachable mic is nice as I often don’t need it (like when listening to music, etc.) While gaming, the mic is respectable and easy to bend into the ideal position. The included dongle makes them truly simply to get up and running. Connecting them to my Mac and PC also worked flawlessly. — Sound and ANC By default, the sound seemed perfect for games, leaning a bit more into bass with sharper sounds coming through a bit more easily than expected (which could be seen as a downside, I suppose, but arguably beneficial for hearing key things in an FPS, etc.) You cannot adjust any of the EQ on the headset, but the sound can be tweaked in Alienware’s companion software. The ear cups block out some sound passively, but ANC adds true noise cancellation. I find myself leaving it on most of the time, but unlike other headsets, the baseline white noise generated on these sounds a bit more like a subtle static, with an irregular pattern. It’s not something you’ll hear when you’re listening on them, but when nothing is playing and ANC is on, I notice it more than any other headset own. — Comfort & Color Choice Comfort is key and the way these position the ear cups, seemingly perfectly, along with their less bulky form and soft headband - feel great. After a long session, their lack of ventilation can make them run slightly warm, but not any more than other similar headsets I own. They present like true, higher-end headphones with less of the ‘gamer’ stigma. I got the Dark Side of the Moon model, and unlike the product photos, the actual color looks more like a dark, bluish grey than a black. It gives them a unique appearance, but a subtle one. They can appear more black under many light situations. See my photos for a best attempt at capturing their true color. — Summary I’ve very pleased with this updated design. It feels grown up and well considered in in almost all ways, has great sound, and is dead simple to pair/plug in right out of the box. I have some reservations on the ANC background noise and longevity of the vegan leather material, but as long as that holds up, this may be my new favorite headset for media and gaming. Controls are intuitive and they’re very comfortable. *** The Good Stuff: - Great defaults for gaming, leans into bass - Fantastic, high-style silhouette with soft forms that’s very well executed. - Great interface you can feel for - dial is great for volume and texture on the ANC button is easy to remember - Appreciate understated Alienware branding *** The Less than Good Stuff: - Main concern is that the vegan leather will wear out like it has on my other headsets - some edges are also wrapped, so I’m careful about how I rest these or allow them to sustain abrasion. - Slight background crackle/white noise when ANC is on and nothing is playing (don’t hear this on my other headphones) - Semi-strong off-gassing of ear cups for several days after unboxing - Cannot be flattened or folded for transport - No case or bag included

Versatile headphones, but lacks sidetone for micro

I'm primarily a mobile gamer. I play Call of Duty: Mobile regularly and have been using a tablet/external monitor setup for quite some time. I'm always on the lookout for the best possible experience with gaming setups and these Alienware headphones looked like a great addition. COMFORT The first thing I typically look for with headphones is comfort. If they aren't comfortable, I'm not going to be able to use them. The Alienware headset has very soft ear cups and the padding on the headband is sufficient enough to provide comfort. I've been very happy with how comfortable the headphones are. The only concern I have is if will overheat with the vegan leather coverings. ANC This is a feature that is very important to me because I try to use my headphones for multiple uses. Even though these are 'gaming' headphones, I used them for listening to music and even for conference calls. ANC really helps me to concentrate while I'm working from home. The ANC feature on the Alienware headset works really well. When I turned it on, I couldn't hear myself typing on my keyboard. Transparency worked well as it cancelled out a lot of ambient noise, but still allowed me to hear my surroundings. Turning off ANC altogether was showed me that the ear cups did a great job of sound isolation -- even without the ANC. The only strange thing is that when ANC is turned on there is a bass boost effect that happens. It enhances the sound quality, but it's a bit odd that bass boost is a result of turning on ANC. SOUND QUALITY The sound quality has been superior to many other headsets I've used. Every thing has been crisp and high-quality. The only disappointment I had was trying to use the microphone. In my experience, it's much nicer to be able to hear yourself through sidetone. It keeps me from talking too loudly when gaming or on conference calls, but I didn't find this feature to be present with the Alienware headset. Other than the microphone, I was very impressed with the overall sound quality. Everything I played through the headphones -- music, movies, games -- sounded fantastic. SOFTWARE While you don't 'need' the software in order to use the headset, you won't get certain features unless you connect it. This is a pet peeve of mine because I don't like unnecessary software. The AWCC app mainly just gives you access to Dolby Atmos, but not much else. COMPATIBILITY Since Alienware provided three different options for connection -- Bluetooth, 2.4 Ghz receiver, and wired, these headphones will work with nearly any type of device. I personally used them with my iPhone, iPad, Red Magic Gaming tablet, and PlayStation 5. I didn't have any connection issues. Overall, the Alienware headset has been a solid addition to my gaming setup. The comfort, ANC, and sound quality have all exceeded my expectations, making it a great option for both gaming and everyday use. While the lack of sidetone and the reliance on software for certain features were minor drawbacks, they didn’t overshadow the overall performance. With strong compatibility and multiple connection options, this headset is a versatile choice for gamers.

The Alienware name is synonymous with high-priced gaming gear. Whether it be monitors, laptops, desktops...the Alienware brand is known. Whether or not you get the bang for you buck is another question altogether. I'll say, after my time with the Alienware - Pro Wireless Gaming Headset, while not perfect, this headset definitely holds it's own in a crowded space. To start with the positive...these things are LOUD! I've used quite a few pairs of headsets as of late, and I feel these are by far the loudest I've tested. Not distorted loud, but loud like it puts you right there in the environment! I've been using a certain high-end headset I won't name that's highly rated and used by most of the pros and the difference in volume between this headset and that headset was huge. I was impressed. The noise cancellation is solid. By design, the ear muffs do a good job of blocking out sound, the ANC takes it to the next level without any hiss. With the headset on with ANC and no audio, I'm surprised at how loud my environment is when I remove the headset. As far as design, these are smooth. Very minimal. There is one flaw however, and , maybe this is just me, but the ear muffs can feel warm after long plays sessions. This is a major downer because outside of that these headphones feel non-existent on my head. Super comfortable until they aren't. I downloaded the Alienware Command Center, which, gives you access to Dolby Atmos with these headphones, but if you're not a fan of having excess software on your computer, they worked fine before I downloaded the app. I would suggest you download the updater to update the dongle and headset firmware. The Alienware Pro Wireless Gaming Headset is a true Pro gaming headset. If you don't feel the increased warmth I feel from the ear muffs, these might be a 5 out of 5 for you. For me they're a strong 4 I'd still gladly recommend to anyone looking to purchase a headset.

I routinely try out as many gaming and audio headphones as I can. Many do not live up to their hype or promise, but this set of Alienware headphones was a very pleasant surprise. My first criteria for gaming headphones is comfort. If they're not comfortable, everything else is irrelevant because I can not wear them for hours at a stretch. The Alienware headphones are very comfortable with plush, soft cushions that even after 3-4 hours of usage they still felt great. They are not excessively heavy either. Next up is sound quality and this is where I was impressed. The price might seem to be a little on the higher side depending on what you're looking for, but the 50mm drivers in the Alienware headphones not only deliver very acceptable bass but the mids are lights out good and this is where I think they shine. The highs are also above average but the mids are some of the best I've heard on this range of headphones. I spent the entire first few days just listening to music tracks and watching movies to really soak it in. I compared them to my other few pairs of gaming headphones like my Rigs and Cloud X and they absolutely wiped the floor with them. The real shocker was they were better than my Apple Beats Studio Pros and were on par in an overly bright way with my Sonos Ace headphones for audio and movie playback. I just could not get over how impressed I was with the audio from these Alienware headphones. From classical to hip hop, classic rock and more they delivered. This naturally translates into fantastic gaming performance as everything was crystal clear and sounded fantastic. I logged plenty of hours in World of Warcraft The War Within along with Fallout 76 and the sound was top notch. Everything was bright, crisp and clear. I let my wife try them out as she still is using her pair of "The Haymaker" gaming headphones when playing World of Warcraft which is a $300+ pair of headphones and these Alienware headphones "absolutely wiped the floor with The Haymaker, wow they sound gorgeous!" in her own words. The way she was eying them up after trying them out for a few hours makes me think I might have to secure another pair for her in the future. Moving along to noise cancellation (ANC), the secret sauce of the Alienware is the excellent seal the soft, plush cups make when in use. Even without ANC, you are already getting a bit of noise reduction just from this. Press the ANC button and you are presented with very good ANC. It is on par with my Beats Studio Pro but unfortunately it is nowhere near the insane levels of the Sonos Ace headphones which is the best ANC I've ever used but it is still more than adequate. My litmus test for ANC is my HVAC blower that is about 10 feet outside my door. Only the Sonos Ace can completely remove the sound of it when in use, but the Alienware are a solid second. Next is the mic. One thing I love about the Alienware headphones and I wish more headphone makers would do is make the mic removable. Most times I do not want or need a mic and being able to remove the entire thing is a quality of life improvement I seriously like. When it is connected, there is a mic mute button when you do not want to be heard but being able to remove the entire mic is next level. As for the recording quality, it is very solid and decently removes a bit of the surrounding noise when talking which is nice. It is more than passable and when doing some Expeditions and Raids in Fallout 76, my team could hear me loud and clear using my normal speaking voice and that's good enough. Lastly, is the three tiers of connectivity. You can use the Alienware headphones via a dedicated 2.4ghz dongle, Bluetooth or wired USB. I like the dongle because it is a USB-C dongle that also includes an adapter to USB-A making it compatible with both ports. I tried it in both a USB-C and USB-A port and it worked fine in both. Wired worked well too along with Bluetooth. While it isn't noted in the description, the Alienware headphones are completely compatible with PCs. I had no problems using both the wired and wireless connection with my desktop PC. Since they are Bluetooth, they are also compatible with Bluetooth devices including my AppleTV and iPhone and both connected and worked perfectly with the Alienware headphones. With two types of wireless and wired connectivity, these will be able to connect to just about anything. The button and volume controls are very easy to use and I like the physical positional buttons for most functions. After several days of using and testing the Alienware headphones I could only find a few, small problems and they are not deal breakers. From the ultra picky like I wish the USB cable was white and matched the headphones to a higher degree of an issue like there were a few few pops and cracks occasionally when using the wireless 2.4ghz connection but I've also encountered this before too on other wireless headphones with PCs. I was at first concerned about the price being higher than some of my other gaming headphones but for the quality of sound, build quality, connectivity and aesthetics these are well priced and for those who actually want to use them for audio and movies these are very acceptable for that too. Overall, I like them. In fact I like them so much these are now my new favorite gaming headphones replacing both my Kingston and Rig headphones as my daily drivers they are that good.

A Great Headset for PS5, PC & Switch

I needed a new headset for my PS5 Pro but also wanted a headset that was able to work with my gaming laptop along with my Switch and the Alienware Pro Wireless Gaming Headset checked all those boxes and more. Right out of the box, the headset made a strong first impression. It comes in both black and white color ways, it has a clean and modern look that doesn’t look too overly "gamer," making it great for both gaming and everyday use and you could easily mistake it as a premium headset. Weighing in at 315 grams, it feels solid yet comfortable and you barely notice it on your head during gaming sessions. The memory foam ear cups and headband, are made of a soft faux leather, which provides a snug fit and seal without excessive pressure. However, that being said the ear cups do not swivel or fold flat, which makes taking it on the go a bit tricky and it doesn't come with a carrying case. The audio performance of the Alienware Pro Wireless is very impressive. With 50mm graphene drivers, it delivers a broad frequency range from 20Hz to 40kHz, producing deep bass and crisp highs. The headset also supports Dolby Atmos (on PC, for a one time $15 fee), enhancing spatial audio for a more immersive experience, which is crucial for competitive games. On the PS5 it has the ability to do 3D-sound, where you can calibrate the 3D-sound which sounds best to you too in order to get the best audio experience out of the headset for your games. These headphones also come equipped with ANC (active noise canceling) and does a great job of reducing background noise, allowing me to keep focus during gameplay and drowning out background noise such as typing, PC fans and air conditioning. The passive noise isolation from the ear cups is already effective, but turning on ANC further minimizes those low-frequency sounds. I found these to be the most comfortable gaming headphones that offer ANC that I have tried. Other headsets that have ANC, place the ANC microphone on top of the drivers in the ear cups, which lead to a lot of discomfort, especially for someone who has bigger ears and it would dig into my ears. This is not the case at all with the Pro Wireless Gaming Headset, where the ANC is built into the drivers of the headset. In the ANC toggle button there is an option for transparency mode, allowing you to hear the sounds in your surroundings. All of these settings can be achieved from a push of a button on the left ear cup, if you want greater customization of these modes, you can download the Alienware Command Center on your PC. The app allows players to adjust the transparency mode and microphone levels. However, the software is quite basic and lacks advanced features like customizable EQ settings or detailed sound profiles. Console players should also be aware that the software isn’t available for PS5, PS4, or Switch, so any adjustments have to be made directly on the headset in the app. The detachable boom microphone is one of the standout features. It captures voice clearly, ensuring solid coms in multiplayer games. The unidirectional design helps filter out background noise, and the flexible boom arm allows for easy positioning, while also having a LED light indicator to let you know that when the light is red, the mic is currently muted. The ability to remove the mic is a great feature for when you are playing single player games or just watching videos or listening to music. The headset offers multiple ways to connect. The 2.4GHz wireless connection with the included USB-C dongle (comes with a USB-C to USB-A adapter), provides a stable, low-latency experience on the PS5, PS4, and Nintendo Switch. Along with Bluetooth 5.3 support makes pairing to mobile devices or computers easy if you don't have or want to use the dongle . That being said, while offering Bluetooth and a 2.4GhHZ connection, you cannot be connected to the dongle on your PC or PS5, while also being connected via Bluetooth on your phone, to allow for simultaneous passthrough audio while gaming or the ability to answer a phone call while gaming. While this is not the biggest complaint, it is a tad inconvenient, in that other headsets on the market in this price range offer that feature. Pros and Cons Pros: Comfortable design with memory foam padding Excellent audio quality with ANC for immersive sound Multiple connection options for different devices Detachable microphone for added flexibility Cons: Ear cups don’t fold flat, making it less portable No simultaneous Bluetooth passthrough from phone to game audio Overall, the Alienware Pro Wireless Gaming Headset is a strong choice for any gamer that is looking for a mix of performance, comfort, and versatility. While it has a few minor drawbacks, its high-quality sound, comfortable lightweight fit, and flexible connectivity make it a great addition to any gaming setup.

The Alienware Pro offers everything you would expect from a headset and then some. With a brand name like Dell you know that quality and design are all going to be rolled in to one package. What it then comes down it is rather or not this is the right fit for you. So out of the box you get everything you need to get you started including the usb-c charging cable, usb-c and usb-A dongle. The headset does come with a detachable boom mic which is also very flexible, allowing you to bend it up and out of the way when not in use. The ear cups are detachable which do allow for replacement and upgrade of the design. One thing to note on first impressions was two things, number one was the comfort. This is hands down the most comfortable, plush headset i have ever worn. Most headsets are rigid and require hours of wear time in order to properly break them in. That was not the case with the Alienware. Out of the box putting this headset on felt almost like having a pillow on my head. After countless hours of runtime i had almost forgotten i was wearing them. Number two, this headset design is geared more towards medium to smaller head sizes. Out of all my head sets that i own, this one in particular definitely felt smaller. Something to note incase you have a bigger head for that bigger brain. The ear pieces are not foldable and do not rotate inward or outward. This was a little disappointing as the unit will telegraph in order to fit proper height but is not foldable for easy stow and go. Full charge yielded about 15 hours of run time and a depleted battery took about 1 hour to recharge. One thing to note on this topic was during testing i ran the battery down and recharged it to full. Upon use the unit would not power on and kept saying "power off" when powering on. This ended up being a firmware issue which fixed it immediately. With that being said it is very critical to keep up with firmware updates on this headset. Sound quality is phenomenal with all sounds, including chat, coming in crystal clear. The unit does have ANC (active noise canceling) which works very well out blocking out noisy roommates. The unit will run both in wireless mode or wired mode incase your battery runs out. In wireless mode there are some things to make mention of. There is definitely a sound quality difference between the USB-C dongle and the USB-A dongle. While using the USB-C dongle quality seemed more distored and during high impact sounds, like explosions and gunfire, the sound quality would keep dropping out and breaking up a bit. The USB-A dongle was perfect with awesome quality and 360 like quality. I was able to tell which direction people were coming from during gaming and when high impact action took place there would be no drops in connectivity. Here is my take away. This unit is awesome for those looking for comfort and sound quality. But keep in mind that there is no app to help access all your features or help with firmware updates. Run time is alot shorter than the claim time and larger head sizes may not be as comfortable. But overall what makes this a good fit for me is the comfort, sound quality and Bluetooth capability. The Bluetooth built in means you can connect to anything with Bluetooth capability including your mobile device for mobile gaming.

This Alienware Pro Wireless Gaming Headset for PS5, PS4, and Switch in Lunar Light is my go-to headset every time I play a game, listen to music, watch videos, or do anything that requires a headset and microphone. I love how it is so versatile. I mainly use it with my PS5 gaming console, but I also use it with my laptop, gaming desktop, smartphone and tablet. In the box you get the Alienware Pro Wireless Gaming Headset, detachable microphone with cover, USB-C Wireless Dongle, USB-A to USB-C Adapter, USB-A to USB-C Cable, user manual, and an Alienware logo sticker that my son immediately took from me. What do I love most about this headset? The sound is over the top. I can hear everything in the game. I can hear things in the game that I have never heard before. I have been playing this game or a version of it for years, and up until using this headset, I had never heard some of the sounds in the game. It really blew my mind. In games where there are a lot of things going on, with a lot of players at the same time, I could actually hear people walking. I could hear the crickets in the background. I could hear a stream or creek. It seemed so real. Also, the noise cancellation is amazing. I couldn’t hear anything but the game and the people in the game. The microphone is great too. The people that I chat with on a regular basis said that I sounded very clear with no feedback at all. No background noise at all. It can’t get better than that. Besides over the top sound, excellent noise cancellation, and great microphone quality, I have to mention something else that really stands out to me. Comfort. This has to be the most comfortable headset that I have ever owned and worn. Ever. It doesn’t surprise me that professional gamers have endorsed this headset. It’s just that good of a headset. I have had so many gaming headsets over the years, and this one is my absolute favorite, and not just for one reason, but for all of the reasons I have mentioned. There is the Alienware Command Center software that utilizes Dolby Atmos that you can use on your PC to help customize your audio. You have to use this with the Dolby app, as it requires bot. This only applies to the PC, and not to PS5, PS4 or Switch. The controls are all on the headset, which make it convenient to use. The controls on the headset are: Power On/Off, Volume, Microphone Mute/Unmute, ANC mode On/OffTransparency, Connection Type 2.4GHz/Bluetooth/Pairing Battery life is stated to be 75 hours in most cases, but it can be less than that depending on settings. 70 hours when in ANC mode. My experience is that I got about that many hours each time, except when I use ANC. Another great thing about this headset is that is charges very quickly. The quick charge time is 15 minutes due 8 hours of game play. It’s pretty cool. All in all, this is the headset to get for gaming!

📦 UNBOXING: Inside the box, you’ll find the headset, a USB-C to USB-A cable for charging and wired usage, a 2.4GHz Wireless USB-C dongle, a USB-C to USB-A adapter, a detachable boom microphone, and some documentation. 💪 BUILD: The build of the Alienware Pro Wireless Gaming Headset appears to be largely plastic, but it does not feel cheap or flimsy. It has a nearly metallic feel, but couldn’t find any documentation that suggests anything other than plastic. With the Lunar Light model, the outer shell reminds me a lot of the Lunar Light model of their laptops. I used to have an Alienware x14 in this same color, and really enjoyed it, so if you’re already an Alienware laptop user, this will be an aesthetic match. The Alienware logo is prominent on the exterior of each ear cup, which might be a little gaudy for some, but I don’t find it too offensive. On the Lunar Light version, the logo is silver which blends in a bit more with its white exterior. There is no RGB lighting on this headset, and I prefer it this way since I find it to otherwise be a waste of battery. The microphone is detachable from the left side of the headset, which can then fallback to the onboard microphones at the cost of vocal clarity. So if you’re the kind of person who uses an external microphone or if you want to have your face unobstructed during a video call, this is a pleasant feature. And if you want to use it as a portable headphone around the house or out and about, this gives a bit more versatility without making it overtly obvious that you’re wearing a gaming headset. ⚙️ CONTROLS: On the left ear cup, there is the mute button, a volume dial to control your game audio, and an ANC button to toggle between ON/OFF and Transparency modes. If you connect the detachable microphone, you’ll also find that there is an LED indicator on the end of the microphone that glows red to indicate the microphone is muted. In my experience, the LED is far more noticeable in darker lighting conditions than it is in bright daylight conditions. On the right ear cup is the power switch, an LED status indicator, and a wireless switch to use the 2.4GHz dongle, Bluetooth, and the Bluetooth pairing mode. Overall, these are pretty intuitive controls. However, it should be pointed out that there is no ability to interact with playback over Bluetooth other than the volume dial. Since there isn’t a multifunction button, you can’t play/pause or skip tracks from the headset; you’ll need to do those from your phone. It’s a bit of a strange omission given that most wireless gaming headsets at this price point usually have some capability for this, but Alienware opted not to. It should also be mentioned that you cannot simultaneously pair to the 2.4GHz dongle and a Bluetooth device; it’s one or the other. I personally prefer it this way, but I understand that others may feel differently. ☁️ COMFORT: Comfort on the Alienware Pro Wireless Gaming Headset is quite good in my experience. The ear pads are plush, oval shaped and don’t apply a ton of pressure on my head, while the headband is also plush and flexible to support larger and smaller head shapes, alike. My ears don’t touch the drivers, so there’s plenty of room for me, so I can use these for hours without any discomfort. And thanks to its 315g weight, it doesn’t apply a whole lot of downward pressure on your scalp, so it shouldn’t create discomfort for those who often find that to be a contentious part of headphone designs. Out of the box, this headset was quite comfortable, and that comfort was consistent as I continued to use it. 🎧 SOUND QUALITY: The Alienware Pro Wireless Gaming Headset includes a license to Dolby Atmos for Headphones when the headset is connected. This is especially important because how you set it up in the Dolby Access app can really determine how good your audio experience will be. I configured the headset with a Custom profile with a flat EQ and with “Surround Virtualizer” and “Volume Leveler” both disabled. I like to use this configuration especially for music listening, and since I don’t particularly enjoy virtual surround very much. With this configuration, I would say the bass response is still elevated, but not nearly as much as many other gaming headsets I’ve tested. The midrange response is also respectful without bloat from the bass, delivering plenty of clarity for music and games, alike. The treble leans a bit on the brighter side, but without overdoing it and causing listener’s fatigue. So for those who want something that can function as both a headset for gaming and for music, I do think the Alienware Pro Wireless Gaming Headset is up to the task. Dolby Atmos for Headphones can help you tailor the experience to your preferences while using the headset in wired USB or 2.4GHz wireless modes. Unfortunately, the experience takes a downturn when used in Bluetooth mode because of a dynamic compressor which constantly changes the volume levels during playback. This makes listening to music a more erratic, distracting listening experience—which is really unfortunate since it could otherwise be a good headphone for portable use. You can get around this by using the wireless dongle or a wired USB connection with mobile devices, but I imagine most folks wouldn’t want to do that. I did report this to Dell, but didn’t receive a response. 🔊 ANC / AMBIENT SOUND: The ANC on the Alienware Pro is decent, but also not a significant improvement from the great passive noise isolation that the headset already provides. When I put the headset on, I do feel a clear and obvious difference in background noise. While the passive noise isolation does a good job attenuating higher frequency noise, the addition of ANC helps also reduce droning noises present in the lower midrange and bass frequencies. This could be especially helpful for tuning out droning noise from an open window, a noisy fan, or an HVAC system. When playing audio even at lower volumes, it’s hard to hear anything outside of the headset thanks to its excellent noise isolation. Once no audio is playing, there is an audible noise floor which thankfully stops after 30 seconds of inactivity. If you’re hoping to use these as ANC headphones to block out noise while studying, doing work, or chores, then these will be reasonably good for that. The Transparency mode is also decent, and uses the onboard microphone to let in outside noise if you need to be aware of your surroundings. 🎙️ MICROPHONE QUALITY: Microphone quality is decent, but not class-leading. In my testing, the detachable microphone sounds notably better than using the integrated microphones, but the integrated microphones are no slouch, either. The detachable microphone focused more on midrange frequencies of speech to ensure that speech clarity is prioritized over fidelity. But it still sounds like an eSports-oriented gaming headset, with a focus on clearly hearing your teammates during competitive games. If you opt to detach the microphone, you can rely on the onboard microphone which will yield more room echo and a more distant sounding voice. So if you are speaking quietly, your audience may find it harder to understand you. But if you speak loud and clear, it’s a pretty decent sounding microphone. Mic noise cancellation seems to be very good in my testing. Even with louder keyboard noises or other background noises, the microphone really did not pick them up. So rest assured your teammates will hear you, and not what’s going on in your home. 💿 SOFTWARE: As with all Alienware products, you can interface with it via the Alienware Command Center, but there’s not much to control here. You can control headset volume and the Hybrid Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) which has options for “Off”, “On” and “Transparency”. There is also a “Transparency level” slider from 1 to 5 to customize your ambient sound experience. However, it’s worth noting that as of the latest firmware 2.9 (Dongle) and 3.9 (Headset), increasing the Transparency Level might lead to an audible anomaly in one or both ears while ANC is set to “On”. So I recommend using a lower setting if you encounter this issue. I experienced this behavior on two different units, and Dell is investigating a remedy to the issue with no expected fix date. You can also control the microphone volume or mute it entirely, and engage the sidetone with levels from 1 to 5. Sidetone is only engaged whenever you’re using software that is actively using the microphone, so you won’t hear yourself outside of that context. Even so, I do find that the sidetone is quieter than other options on the market, even at max volume. 🔋 BATTERY: Battery life is quite good on the Alienware Pro. Alienware claims up to 75 hours on Bluetooth, 70 hours with the 2.4GHz dongle, and 35 hours on 2.4GHz with ANC. Because the ANC mode isn’t a significant improvement over the passive noise isolation, I think a lot of people could use it without ANC to prioritize battery stamina. And with a quick 15 minute fast charge, you can get up to 8 hours of playback with ANC off. 🧐 CONCLUSION: The Alienware Pro Wireless Gaming Headset chooses to provide the essential features in hardware and software without creating a bloated experience. The word “Pro” means something different in the context of this headset because it was designed with input from eSports gamers in competition environments. But for a general purpose gamer, I do feel like it is a bit more barebones in that it doesn’t provide physical controls for toggling sidetone or for music playback. And the Bluetooth mode has some DSP applied to it that makes listening to music an erratic, unpleasant experience. While I do hope that this can be remedied in a future update, in its current state, I think the Alienware Pro needs some refinements in software and firmware to make each of its limited features pleasant and reliable.

The Alienware Pro Wireless Gaming Headset is a top-tier choice for the professional gamer and music enjoyer who wants zero compromise on quality and creature comforts Am a huge fan of the minimalistic styling of these headphones. Matte black, soft touch finish with simple Alienware logos is a far cry from the flashy Alienware designs of the past. The subdued design of these headphones makes clear that they are aimed at both gaming and general usage. They are stylish and can be worn just about anywhere. Memory foam, leatherette earcups are comfortable even for long gaming sessions. Have always been a fan of the comfort of headbands on Alienware headsets. The headband on this is no different. At 315 grams, these headphones are relatively lightweight. Have worn these headphones continuously for over 4 hours comfortably during my testing. To note, earcups are not on a swivel which somewhat limits portability and comfort, especially if wearing the headphones around your neck. Graphene coated 50mm drivers have a frequency response range from 20Hz-40KHz. Headphones sound great out of the box for both gaming and music listening. Active Noise Cancellation is superb and is leaps and bounds above earlier iterations of headphone ANC. There is no feeling of discomfort or pressure on the ears with ANC on. This is the first gaming headset I have reviewed which has ANC, a striking feature which reinforces that these headphones are aimed at both gamers and a general audience seeking high quality sound. Headphones have a decent level of passive noise isolations as well even with ANC off as well. Built-in controls on the headphones include buttons for power, volume, mic, connectivity and noise cancellation modes. These buttons/switches are located on the bottom of the device and have positive tactile response. A large bonus in my book, as I enjoy the convenience of controlling these key functions via physical buttons. Headset connects via Bluetooth 5.3x, or with the included 2.4GHz USB dongle. The dongle connects via both USB-C and USB-A with an included adapter. Backwards compatibility is a huge plus! Battery life is advertised to be 75 hours on Bluetooth and 70 hours on 2.4GHz with ANC off. Dell also claims that the headphones can gain up to 8 hours of playback time with only 15 minutes of fast charging. Of course, these are in perfect conditions with ANC off but is impressive, nonetheless. I am a big fan of the detachable boom mic included with the headset. Microphone quality is strikingly good, and the ability to detach is perfect for storage and using the headphones on the go. Headset also features AI Noise Cancellation to cut down on background noise. Alienware Command Center Software allows for customization of headphones. Great app. If you are looking for top tier headphones which are versatile in and out of the gaming sphere, look no further than the Alienware Pros.

I was quite surprised with the Alienware Pro Wireless Gaming Headset! The headset provided clear and crisp audio while gaming and viewing entertainment. It has some negatives but the positives outweigh them. The headphones are a simple plug-N-play design. There isn't much you have to do outside of connecting the dongle. The headset has plenty of padding. The padding was great, which gave me all day comfort. I did use the headphones in multiple sessions ranging up to 2 hours. Not once did the headphones feel uncomfortable or irritable to me. The material used around the headphones themselves does leave my ears kind of clammy. This would be a negative with the headset. Another negative and this is a big one for me. Even though the headphones are lightweight, they do not swivel. So you can't rest them on your shoulders and neck between sessions or taking that quick break. This was the one thing that I think they missed with the headphones. The audio quality was amazing. The gaming experience and listening to content was clear and crisp. I was quite surprised how good everything sounded. There is a little bass in the headphones as well. The headphones are simple and very minimal in design. I do like that they added the USB-A attachment for the USB-C. The microphone is your average mic. Nothing to brag about.

In over 6 years of doing reviews, many of which have included gaming products like gaming headsets, I have had yet to review an Alienware gaming headset that I found to be truly terrific and worth both the price and the name. Well folks, at last, here it is: an Alienware headset that is bound to knock your socks off! The audio experience on this headset, even right out of the box, is phenomenal. Crisp trebles, clear mids, and rumbling bass are all present to a reasonable degree when listening to both music and gaming! I tested this song with Aurora’s Runaway and was taken into utter music serenade with the experience. My performance using this on my Windows Gaming PC with the FPS game Hunt Showdown was excellent with this headset. Hunt Showdown is a game with true binaural audio, and your competitiveness in the game heavily depends on your ability to track enemies’ footsteps and triangulate gunshots with audio cues accurately. I missed no beats with this headset and my friends and I laid waste to our enemies in multiple high MMR games of 5 to 6 stars! The adaptability of this headset is amazing. The Bluetooth was effortless to set up with my iPhone 14 Pro, and I enjoyed taking advantage of this headset without the microphone as I ran around doing my errands and cleaning the house. The 2.4GHZ connection is stable and clear and, much to my gratitude, a gaming peripheral maker FINALLY figured out that a USB-C 2.4GHZ dongle does not have to be a gargantuan piece of plastic! As you can see in the pictures included, it is a tiny little guy; I was actually confused for a moment as I thought that, surely, this was only an extension! But, nope! This is the dongle!! They also have included a charging USB cable and a USB-C to USB-A adapter so it is ready to go for other use cases! I did use this with my PS4 Pro as well and was happily rewarded with excellent wireless audio! The build quality of the headset is great, with very comfortable leatherette/vinyl-type earcups and a detachable microphone that actually sounds remarkably good right out of the box! My Discord gaming companions had no complaints about my spoken audio and my OBS recordings sounded great to my ears as well! Altogether, for my first time reviewing multiple Alienware headsets, I can finally give one of their headsets a full 5 star rating and my recommendation!

I got these headphones to use on my Nintendo Switch and have been blow away by the quality of the sound and their overall feel and construction. I used it on both my Switch Lite and my kid’s regular Switch and it connected quickly to both. I also connected it to my phone to test out the mic with my voice app and it was also a seamless quick connection. The construction of the headset is superb, providing fantastic comfort both over the ears and on top of the head. It is easy to forget I am wearing them. The buttons on the headset are easy to maneuver and intuitively placed. The headset is pretty lightweight, with the majority of the heft distributed through the well-padded headband. The headband has a large degree of extension and is pretty small when fully retracted so it can fit a variety of head sizes and age groups. The sound is outstanding. I can hear every detail, every footstep, and directional audio. There is a lot of bass, but it remains in balance with the other sounds. It is great playing games like Fortnite where the directional audio is extremely useful but also calmer games like Animal Crossing and Zelda, where I have now heard sounds in the game I did not know existed. The headset comes with 3 settings: active noise cancelation, normal, and transparency mode. The ANC does a great job of canceling outside noise. Likewise, transparency mode allows sound to come through so well that it sounds like I have no headset on at all. The mic is AI driven to cancel out unnecessary noise and from my testing it does work quite well. It does not matter if the mic is sticking straight out or close to the mouth, the noise comes through just the same. It hardly, if at all, registers background noise such as clicks and taps. The mic is attached to the headset via audio jack so it can easily be removed when not needed. I feel that this is a great gaming headset for kids and adults alike. The amazing sound paired with cloudlike comfort and intuitive controls make this a worthwhile addition to a gaming arsenal. I personally have trouble taking them off once I am immersed in my game and captivated by the many sound details I never knew where incorporated into every Switch game.

To say I have had a lot of headphones over the years would be a massive understatement. I've used headphones that range the spectrum from ultra-cheap to audiophile grade and everything in between. In that is, of course, included a number of 'gaming' headsets. Packaging: To start, the Alienware Pro headset is packaged as you'd expect, in a white Alienware box (most of Alienware's current stuff seem to be leaning white instead of the other colors they've used in previous years), well packaged with a charging cord (USB C) and wireless dongle with adapter. Setup: The connectivity is straightforward, whether via USB-C dongle to your PS4/5 or via dongle or Bluetooth to your PC or Bluetooth to your switch. There's a lot of options for connectivity and it is discovered and set up easily. If connecting to your PC you can of course install the Alienware command center software for some advanced settings, otherwise when connecting to the PS5 it is managed through standard audio connections. Use: They sound great. Maybe not audiophile quality, but for a gaming headset they are superb. On top of that they are shockingly comfortable. The earcups are exceedingly smooth and supple, extremely comfortable to wear. In general the entire headset is just nice to touch, very smooth in all the right places and doesn't pick up fingerprints. It doesn't have the excessive buttons all over the place of some other brands and does not need them. The responsiveness in games is good, I'm able to figure position in regards to other players with ease. The microphone is decent without being wonderful, but it does detach if you choose to do so. The noise canceling is great. Overall: All in all these are an excellent set of gaming headphones and you could do well to pick them up. I'm thrilled to have them and use them.

The Alienware Pro Wireless Headset is a well-crafted and high-quality accessory that enhances any gaming setup. Made from premium materials, this headset offers exceptional comfort, allowing you to wear it for hours without discomfort. It comes with a detachable microphone and a USB-C Dongle to USB-C charging cable. The headset claims to last around 70+ hours, which seems to be true for me since I barely needed to charge it. Designed to fit various head shapes, the headset is compact and easy to adjust. The cushions provide a comfortable fit, staying cool and not making me sweat during extended gaming sessions. Visually, the headset has a sleek and modern appearance, feeling lightweight and premium without being bulky. Featuring active noise cancelling (ANC) and transparency modes, the ANC is impressive, while the transparency mode makes it feel like you're not even wearing a headset. The audio quality is excellent, with strong bass that can be customized through the Dolby Access app. It supports both a 2.4GHz USB dongle mode and Bluetooth mode, allowing you to switch between two connections. The detachable microphone makes it convenient for outdoor use, as its design is subtle and comfortable. Overall, the Alienware Pro Wireless Headset is an outstanding choice for gaming, casual use, and outdoor activities, making it an excellent long-term headset option for many.

TLDR: The new Alienware Pro Wireless Gaming Headset has decent sound quality, but poor Active Noise Cancellation performance, poor mic sound quality, and odd interference on its 2.4GHz channel makes this a NOT RECOMMENDED buy. KEY SPECS AND CONNECTIVITY 50mm Graphene Drivers 20 – 40kHz Frequency Response Up to 75hrs of Battery Life Bluetooth 5.3 / 2.4GHz Wireless Dongle / USB-C Connectivity Fast Charging. 15 minutes = up to 8hrs of playback SET-UP AND CONFIGURATION Dell’s new Alienware Pro Wireless Gaming Headset is configured through its simple and intuitive Alienware Command Center. Simplicity in every sense of the word. So simple that it almost looks outdated and out of place. But that simplicity is also its strong suite. EXTREMELY easy to use, easy to configure your devices, with a logical and straightforward design that many manufacturers have long since forgotten. Included with purchase, is access (pun intended) to the Dolby Access app. This allows use of Dolby Atmos with the Alienware. The Atmos app allows for multi-dimensional audio playback via 2 drivers. Not sure how Dolby does it, but their wizardry turns a pair of stereo headphones into a pseudo 7.1 surround sound system. Clever and effective. One thing that Alienware needs applauded for is its layout and labeling of buttons, switches, and dials. Unlike some of my other gaming headsets, the AW Pros are neatly labeled and simple to use. There is no guessing at what switch, or button does what. There is just enough tactile difference to easily identify which item you are looking for without removing the headset and guessing. Yes, I know that once you own a headset for a bit, you quickly learn them, but when you are just starting out with a new set of cans, this is very helpful. These are the simplest and easiest to use headphones right out of the box I have in my collection. AUDIO QUALITY This is where things start to go downhill for the Alienware. While the big 50mm drivers offer big sound, it isn’t with a great deal of tact or finesse. Game sounds are clear and detailed. The addition of Dolby Atmos makes a big difference during gameplay as audio literally sounds like its coming at you from every direction. Dolby technology allows a 3-dimensional soundstage that makes competitive gameplay much more engaging and entertaining. You can hear folks sneaking up behind you or trying to snipe you ahead in the distance. Sound quality is good, and others’ chat audio is clean and intelligible. Using the AW Pros for movies or music is where things fall apart for me. There is a strange inference issue between the headphones and the transmitter. While it is isn’t constant and only intermittent, the interference occurs often enough to be distracting. Updating the device firmware did not solve the problem. Unplugging all other 2.4GHz transmitters from the PC did help some, but did not eliminate the issue entirely. I have had this issue with some of my other headphones too, but usually a firmware update resolves the problems. It didn’t with the Alienware. Secondly. There is an odd bass boost that gets triggered when you turn on ANC. I’m not sure what it is and why. I use ANC all the time when I use my headsets. This may be the cause of the issue I mentioned above too. For whatever reason, bass response increases significantly once you turn on ANC. To be fair to Alienware, that may be what sounds like interference I mentioned above. It may simply be distortion from the over-active and too aggressive bass profiles. Third. For me, a good ANC algorithm is a must. Even in a quiet environment like my house, I still use ANC. It helps drown out ambient sounds like the heat, A/C, traffic, or case and video card cooling fans that often ramp up during demanding gaming sessions. ANC just helps me isolate myself from the outside world and the increased quietness is calming, whether it be working, gaming, browsing etc. The problem with the Alienware Pros is that the ANC algorithms make a constant compression / pumping sound inside the headphones. The quieter it is, the more obvious it becomes. This is not an Alienware specific issue, some of Alienware’s competitors' products do it too, but not the good ones. Most high-quality set of cans have good ANC performance without the added artifacts, especially at this price point. MICROPHONE As good as I find the headphones are for gaming, the mic quality is merely average at best. Audio is thin and distant sounding. Not nearly as realistic and natural sounding as Alienware’s competition. While the audio is clear and intelligible; it just isn’t natural sounding. CONCLUSIONS The Alienware Pro Wireless Gaming Headset is a two-trick pony. They do a decent job at gaming. Sound quality is good, and the addition of Dolby Atmos makes games feel enveloping and even more realistic. Bass response from the 50mm drivers is deep and a person would be hard pressed to find a better frequency response from a set of gaming headphones. Battery life is exceptional. Up to a whopping 75hrs. The AW Pros last nearly twice as long as my current go-to gaming headset, even with ANC turned on and using the 2.4GHz dongle. Alienware should be commended on their exceptional battery performance. However, when I use the Alienware Pros for anything but a rowdy, action-packed gaming adventure, the weaknesses of the Alienware quickly rear their ugly heads. I don’t like wearing them for music listening. That odd interference / bass distortion is too distracting for me. While not constant, it is frequent enough to ruin a good song. I wish I could figure it out. While I don’t notice it using the Bluetooth connection so much, I do notice it with the transmitter and that shouldn’t happen. Nor should I have to switch between Bluetooth and the 2.4GHz dongle to eliminate the weaknesses with the product. I don’t have to with other cans that I have. Unfortunately, I can’t wear the Alienware Pros for work. The ANC compression artifacts are just too distracting for me. It is like a constant thrumming in your ears. It is also not tied specifically to just the dongle or Bluetooth. It is present with any of the available connection methods. For me, these artifacts are even distracting while gaming. That same thrumming sound is apparent is games without a lot of ambient environmental noise as well. The last two negatives seal the deal for me. My headphones can’t be good at just one thing. If I’m going to invest in a set of headphones, they must be good, all-around performers. The Alienware Pros don’t do it for me. If I were using them strictly for gaming, I MIGHT be able to give them a recommendation, but I don’t use any of my headphones strictly for gaming. Until they can work out the odd bass performance / interference issues, and odd ANC behavior, I can’t recommend the AW Pros. There are too many better headsets available at this price point to give these a recommendation. NOT RECOMMENDED

I am a big fan of Alienware products so I was excited to try out the new Pro Wireless Gaming Headset. Unboxing was simple and everything was well packaged. It includes a USB-C to USB-A cable for charging along with the dongle for connectivity (and an alien sticker). I let the headset charge up before attempting to connect it to my Alienware laptop. If you have a different brand, you'll need to download some software that comes standard with AW, so that saved me a step. Once connected via the USB cord, it walked me through a firmware update and setup process and paired the headset to the dongle. Build quality is fantastic. These are very lightweight and although the material used for the earcups is known for being uncomfortable over time, I had none of those issues when wearing these for hours. No sweat, no stickiness, etc. These are very comfortable for extended wear. Sound quality is good, along with the ANC, but it's not best in class. Although at this price point, it's excellent and will satisfy most. I did notice on some games that there was a faint buzzing or humming in the background, but I couldn't pinpoint the source. It was slightly annoying during any quiet moments of the games but not a deal killer considering how few of those there are. Connectivity with PS5 is mixed. Plugging the dongle into the USB C port on the front paired almost instantly and the settings updated to make the headset the default for audio and microphone. However, none of the controls on the headset work to control volume or mic on/off functions. You will need to go into settings and adjust the volume manually anytime you need to make a change, which is frustrating. The microphone on the headset can stay in the on position, and you can toggle mute from the PS5 controller button. Not ideal, but way better than the volume situation. I've seen this with other brands as well where the volume rocker doesn't work with PS5. These manufacturers need to get with Sony and fix this issue, otherwise stop marketing these headsets as "for PS5" because, while they will work with PS5, they really aren't for PS5 as they lack basic functionality. Overall, this is a good, quality gaming headset, just be aware of the limitations on console gaming going in. If you game on a computer, these are a non-issue. I recommend these, especially to PC gamers, and to console gamers who don't mind the volume issue.

First, I'm a gamer. I play about an hour or two daily, when not working or handling husband/father responsibilities. I have several gaming headsets that I rotate as the die or my son is using while he's playing. Comfort It feels compact but sturdy. There are some exposed wires, but they do not effect the functionality of the headset. The headset is very comfortable with wide ear pads that have plenty of cushion. The headset is definitely lighter than a few of my others. It is very comfortable to wear. I usually have a pinching or some type of discomfort after wearing for an extended period of time, but I haven't had that yet. The mic is easy to maneuver. Functional The headset has controls on both the right and left ear pads. The ON switch and the Bluetooth connection is on the left and the ANC, Volume, and Mic Mute is on the left. When you click the mute button the end of the mic just before the receiver glows red. It would probably annoy some people, but it does let people in the room know when you are unmuted. I had no problems connecting to my PS5 once the headphones were charges. The ANC (active noise cancellation) does a pretty good job, but there is one issue with it. The issue is there is an active humming sound, when nothing is coming through the game…its not bad but it is there. The ANC transparency mode is nice too. It lets the game play but you can still hear what is going on around you…ie…wife can’t talk crap about you dying behind your back. My biggest complain with the headset is that the volume button doesn’t work with the PS5. Or at least not mine. I saw the complain in other reviews and on the Dell site after I couldn’t get it to work. Pros • Great sound (input and output) • Comfortable Ear pads • ANC works (transparency mode is a nice touch) • Long battery life Cons • Volume button/Wheel doesn’t seem to work with PS5 Aside from the volume controls, I have no real complaints. Great sound and comfort!
