Absolute garbage product from Amazon!

This is a complete garbage product from Amazon! I upgraded, or should I say downgraded from the Amazon echo 3rd generation. The microphone quality on the echo 3rd generation was awesome. Alexa used to be able to hear me no matter how loud I had the music but on the 4th generation, this is a complete different story and I should say a massive downgrade from the 3rd generation. I barely have the echo 4th generation on volume 4, and when Alexa was playing music she couldn't even hear me! Now imagine playing at volume 6. Yeah, I have to yell at the top of my lungs to get her attention and I find that ridiculous!!! I thought this is supposed to be upgraded but I guess I downgraded. Now the only good thing I will say the sound quality is much better than the 3rd generation but the mic issue I think takes this good sound quality away. I recommend buying the 3rd generation. Save yourself the headache of all the issues this thing has because the mic issue is not the only one. I'm not going to go into as much detail on this issue but this generation also has an issue on playing music on your default music platform if it's not Amazon music. I wish I could return this product but I missed the return date and I'm stuck with this piece of junk. Save yourself the hassle and don't buy it!

Less functional than marketed.

Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Whereas this product can do some functions very well, the primary reason for purchasing this was to allow a disabled family member to have voice control over the "alexa friendly LG smart TV" and also via voice control only make and answer phone calls.... and this cannot do that. For example, the only way Echo can answer incoming phone calls is if the caller initiates the call from an Alexa app. In our instance, Echo could not fully control all TV function by voice only and the TV actually has Amazon Alexa built in. I spoke with 5 Alexa Echo specialists to help with the install and still had problems. I next private paid for a Geek Squad Techie to arrive at the home to complete the very frustrating install. The Geek Squad agent with 15 years of experience was the person who finally informed me I was not doing anything wrong...the product itself is marketed to indicate you can achieve a total smart home via voice control only and this is just not true. In fairness neither Google or Siri have a product that works...but this is of little help to the disabled community. Sadly the Geek Squad agent said products used to exist to allow full hands free control,but are not made anymore ...so the disabled community has fewer options in 2024 than 2014...who would have thought that technology options decreased over time?

Unfortunately, Alexa is not connected to cellular or landline phone service, and as such would not be able to initiate or answer calls in that capacity. In terms of being able to control the TV by voice with Alexa, the Fire TV Cube is the perfect solution for your needs in this case, as it provides all of the same functions that the Echo does, but also adds the ability to control Fire TV with your voice. Needs improvement!

The sound is no better but what is worse is that I have to repeat the wake up word several times before it responds. Unfortunately it's too late to return it.

You can try to troubleshoot this as this is not the expected experience one should have with this device. I would recommend checking to see if you have any software updates that are needed as older software versions could potentially cause this. You can do this by simply sayin "Alexa, check for updates." If there are any updates, it will download and install them and could take 15 minutes to do depending on your internet speeds. Not ready for prime time

Sound quality is muddled, not balanced (especially with Echo Sub); connectivity is challenging "I'm having trouble, please try again later" so much so Amazon recommended I return both units. And the power cord is too short and doesn't match the unit. Will be returning mine.

Not so good unit

Cool when it’s working

I ask it to turn on my lights and it can’t even figure that out, anytime the lights actually come on Alexa doesn’t stop changing the color until I say stop and at that point I’ll just use my phone.

Truly bad online purchase experience

Stopped working after a two weeks

I even reset it and tried setting it up as new and it still didn’t work. I did like it while it was working. Returned product and got money back.

To resolve most playback issues, check that your car stereo is set to the correct input 2. Make sure that Echo Auto is connected to your car stereo using the included AUX cable.
