Customers are saying

Customers are impressed with the Echo (4th Gen)'s sound quality, ease of use, and design. Many appreciate its compact size and the improved bass response, along with its functionality as a smart home hub. While some users experienced occasional issues with Alexa's responsiveness and command interpretation, the positive feedback on sound and ease of setup outweighs these concerns.

    Echo studio is better

I like this product. It has good base at low volumes. Crank the volume too high and there is distortion. I have an echo studio and it sounds great at all volume levels. Alexa experience has gone down after adding this. It looks cool though. I might relegate it to my bedside instead of kitchen island. The echo studio did a better job listening and responding.

I have several Echo Dots 2nd and 3rd Gen. and I thought the full sized stylish Echo would be a no brainer, however it seems as if this Echo has difficulty hearing my requests, as it often doesn't respond?! Perhaps it has something to do with the spherical shape? Otherwise sound is what is expected from a $100 speaker with decent bass and volume. I do not like the indicator light on the bottom of the device as it does make it hard to see sometimes. Overal it's just ok, wait for it to go on sale.

The product does not link up well to Samsung TV's. For whatever reason they are not compatible. I had the Geek Squad come over to hook it up but they were unsuccessful. It could not turn the TV on or off. It also could not go to different channels or apps. Big disappointment.

      Hi THOMASS,

If you are wanting to control your TV and smart home devices, you may want to consider the Fire TV Cube instead of the Echo 4th Gen. Most Samsung TVs are compatible with Alexa, but some have it already built in. Without knowing the TV model number, we are unsure, but we would love to help you further. You can call Amazon customer service, available 24/7 for assistance on the device. You can reach us at 1-888-280-4331!

      Hope that helps! AmazonDevices

Good Sound Quality but Tricky to Set Up

This item works reasonably well. The sound quality is quite good for it's size, and the sphere shape is quite attractive. However, setting it up to sync with two other Echo Dots to have music in multiple rooms was very challenging and when you ask here to play the music in multiple rooms, you have to word your request very carefully or she does not do it. Also, after working properly for the first two months, she has stopped playing music from SirusXM and Pandora - still trying to figure out the problem.

Pretty Nice Device. Sound is great, easy set up and lots of features. Unfortunately after ordering a new item I received an Echo Premium that was a preowned item or an open box item as it had personalized lists and paired Bluetooth items already set up. It was paired to an Echo Show 5 also which I do not have. I like the item and would have given 5 stars if I received a NEW Echo.

The Echo is a sleek smart speaker with excellent Alexa integration for smart home control and basic tasks. However, sound quality is unfortunately average, and Alexa’s responses can feel very limited a lot of the time. A solid choice for convenience when on sale for nearly half the price, but not for audiophiles or heavy reliance without the proper equipment or knowledge of technology.

it was good. I love the smart features. The problem is the sound. it sound good, but not that grate. it has a lot of base, but for the prize, I thing the sound should be more louder.

The sound quality is surprisingly good. Not audiophile quality by any means, but very good nonetheless so I bought two to use as PC speakers. As with all Amazon Echo devices, there is no way to reboot it except to power cycle it. Deducting two stars across the board for this design flaw.

I've had this model of the Echo for a few weeks now and I'm a bit disappointed. It looks good and was easy to set up. However, the reviews that mention the difficulty it has "hearing" are correct. I sit about two feet from it and I have to repeat the wake work several times. And this is with no ambient sound in the room. I have to turn off or pause my TV when I need to speak to the Echo. A bit disappointing for a newer model. I feel like I should have stayed with the older model.

I bought this product originally for the sole purpose of connecting to a new Alexa compatible christmas tree. However, it turns out I enjoy having Alexa to help me with my shopping list, weather and more. The speakers on this model were great. However, only 2 weeks after purchasing the quality significantly depleted and it sounds as if a speaker was blown??? She tends to have a little trouble connecting to other devices as well hence the 3 star rating.

the sound is much better than the echo 3rd gen but the music just stops after @1 hour. i have tried what others have tried to fix it and it still does it. I bought this to listen to music not to keep telling it to resume.

I was so looking forward to music whenever I wanted to listen to it, without commercials. And the clerk told me there was no monthly fee to use it. Now I find out I need to pay $3.99 monthly to get some of the music I have requested. That is a big disappointment to me. I try to believe the clerks and expect them to know how to use it. The sound is good. I am happy for that.

Decided to try Alexa again before I moved to Homekit for everything. There is still the annoying issue where an Amazon commercial will set off Alexa. While there are a lot of great apps and products there are some that either don’t work at all or they are flaky

Mic is not sensitive enough. Have to repeat commands or speak louder than normal. This mic is no better than the earlier versions. The sound is awesome when playing music. They need to add a mic level adjustment in the software settings.

Had To return my first one, it would periodically stop responding and I needed to unplug and plug back in. Have had the replacement for several weeks now and had it stop responding once but generally works as designed. Very good sound compared to first generation echo.

I bought this specifically to use with the smart home hub for light switch voice control. While that should work without internet access, the operation was spotty at best. If you already have an Echo, don't bother upgrading for the smart home hub functionality.

i like my 2 gen Echo better. the 4th gen Echo is ok but the 2 gen hears you talk better. the 4 gen sounds just a little better but not so much as to replace your 2 gen. If you don't have an Echo, it's great but i wouldn't replace an older Echo with this one.
