My wife's sewing room has two paired Echo Gen 2 speakers for music streaming but she also wanted to play CD's and records on those same Echo wireless speakers. I added the Echo Link and it works beautifully. No need to use an amp with wired speakers. Just add the Link to the same room as the Echo speakers, attach the CD player to the Link using the digital input and/or a turntable to the analog jacks and that's it. If you are streaming music and start a CD or record, the streaming stops automatically and the new source starts playing. Several things to note. First, all devices must be on the same Alexa account. Second, the turntable must have a built in pre-amp or you need to add an external one between the turntable and the Link. Finally, the digital input has priority over streaming and the analog inputs if both are connected. So just be sure to turn off the CD player - don't just push "stop" - if you want to listen to vinyl and turn off both the CD player and turntable if you want Alexa to start streaming again.

This is a quality little unit. Lots of I/O options and well made. I am using with an external DAC via optical but I enjoy the sound of the onboard DAC a lot. If I get another Link for the living room I will hold off a while on getting a external DAC and enjoy the onboard. Also you can use the onboard sub out when using your external DAC, very handy! All and all I believe this little guy to punch way above his weight class and enjoy my purchase on a daily basis.

I bought this for my multi room in ceiling stereo system and made it so simple to stream music to it, especially since it’s an older system. I’d say my only complaint is the price you can get an echo cheap but this is bit overpriced

Nice addition to my system. Allows me to listen to music through my stereo and interact with Alexa. Set up is fairly easy, however, I just hard wired everything, which only takes a few minutes. Music quality is lacking, but for me was not meant to be audio file quality. I would recommend.

I’ve been searching for a way to up the sound quality of my Alexa online streaming. This was easy to set up and works very well.

This is great because it works and can be added to a group on alexa. There are some limitations on Amazon Music HD, mostly due to poor implementation into the Amazon Music desktop app. It will do HD at 24 bit, but only up to 48 kHz, which is still great.

This is a great way to bring your AV receiver into your hole home Alexa music. It’s not a stand alone Echo, it’s just a link to your Echo and for that it’s great.

This thing is awesome! The hardest part was installing the Alexa skill and configuring that, but then it works great. "Alexa, play music on Link". And then you have Amazon music through your stereo. I don't know why you don't see more promotions for this.

I love the idea of a streaming device that you can connect directly to your existing stereo but the Echo Link misses the mark. Specifically in sound quality. The Echo Link sounds thin in the bass and harsh in the highs. The Echo Link benefits greatly from an external DAC like the Modi 3 which makes a sea change in the sound quality. The bottom line is not to expect top-notch sound quality out of the Echo Link without the use of an external DAC.

this is awesome! I can now use my old 2006 denon 4306 with alexa and play all my analog and digital inputs through my alexa devices through out my house. I can play my old cd's now

No more, no less. But indespensible. Now I can direct where the music comes from just by asking Alexa, and one of the choices is my stereo system!
