Stunning Audio Performance in a Smart Speaker!

Amazon Echo Plus is an amazing performer. My primary use is to play music on demand. The best combination is a set of 3 devices: 2) Echo Plus and 1) Echo Sub. This combination produces the perfect balance of high frequencies, accurate midrange and excellent bass. Add this combination of 3 devices in each of your favorite rooms and direct Alexa to “Play ... (song) on the Everywhere Group!”... since bass is non directional, it adds for each subwoofer in your house. The sound quality throughout your house is truly amazing and gets better with every new group of 3 devices you add!!

Short & Sweet - For what it is, this device is amazing. Performance is quick, audio is great, and the built-in Zigbee hub works quite well. Longer Review; After dragging my heels for over a year, I finally bought our first Echo (2nd Generation) back in August. I loved it so much that I got us 2 more for other areas in the house. Being able to group them and play the same music or audio throughout the house is a novelty that won't grow old for me. I've only wished that they had a little more full sound, especially at higher volume. I'd considered the last Echo Plus, but the average of reviews I read didn't make it appear to perform significantly better than our already great 2nd Generation Echos. When I saw this new Echo Plus listed, I pre-ordered it to "replace" the Heather Grey Echo in our kitchen and move that one to our bedroom. We tend to have music playing in the kitchen more than any other room, and I wanted slightly better sound than the regular Echo in there. I'm honestly glad we took a chance on this device without any reviews to go by. Appearance; As you can see in the photos, it's pretty much identical in height to the 2nd Generation Echo. It is a bit wider to accommodate the larger speakers, and the top is slightly domed instead of being flat. A similar 7-microphone array is on top and they seem to work just as well. There also appears to be a tripod-style connector on the base of the unit. Setup; Setup was surprisingly easy as this Echo Plus detected our network settings on its own. I plugged it in, it did its initial startup, and then told me the device was connected. Simple as that. Audio compared to 2nd Generation Echo; Highs are clearer. Mids are more natural and better-defined. Lows are deeper. Overall volume is noticeably louder and sound quality is improved. When paired with our other Echos, music and audio is in sync everywhere and this device stands out above the others in audio performance. General Performance; We have a quick network and I don't notice any perceivable performance difference between this new Echo Plus and our regular 2nd Generation Echos. Everything seems to work as it should. I bought this with the "free" Philips Hue bulb promotion. This bulb is our first Zigbee device and works very well with the Echo Plus. It is easily controlled by either the Echo Plus or the other Echos we have in the house. I'll be keeping an eye out for deals on these bulbs in the future. Like our other Echos, it also has no problem controlling our Kasa Smart Plugs.

Huge Upgrade from Gen 1 Echo

I have the original Echo (the one that required an invite), and was completely blown away by the incremental improvement in sound. Bass is actually present, and when placed correctly the sound almost feels "stereo". The built thermometer and smart home hub are a nice add-on, and allow me to create routines that I couldn't previously do such as turning off a manual window fan with the temperature hits 60 degrees inside. I purchased a 2nd Echo Plus to make a stereo pair, and I default to playing music over these instead of my full sized stereo due to the ease of use, and almost comparable sound quality (for background music).

I had read reviews that the sound on the Amazon Echo Plus was not that great but I primarily purchased it for Smart Home purposes. Surprisingly, the sound from playing music is great! Completely fills the room. My daughter loves it and uses it to control the included light bulb which she can turn on and off or dim to various levels. She also used the Echo Plus for music, weather, alarms, etc. and controls her TV through the compatible Amazon Fire Stick 4K. I plan to add additional smart home devices based on the simplicity and success of this device.

First off, this is a very good speaker. It's loud but not tinny and annoying. It's not on the level of a HomePod for sound quality, particularly because it just doesn't have as much bass as the HomePod does, but it's by no means poor or even below average. An advantage this has over the HomePod, however (and there are several advantages), is that it offers Bluetooth, so you can connect it to your phone or a Bluetooth speaker. HomePod doesn't have this. It also provides a port for connecting an external speaker with a wire, which is very convenient—also not offered on the HomePod. The biggest advantage, of course, is Alexa. It seems to do everything, can connect or interact with pretty much everything I have that's even close to being "smart home" related, and now even lets you connect to Apple Music and set it as the default music source so you don't have to say things like, "Alexa, play [a song] on Apple Music." You can just say, "Alexa, play [a song]" and it automatically uses Apple Music instead of Amazon Music. So, the Echo Plus 2nd gen. for me has been fantastic.

I upgraded to the Amazon Echo Plus because my original Amazon Echo kept disconnecting from my WiFi. I figured if I updated it would fix the connectivity issues and I was right. What I didn’t expect is how well the sound is on this new Amazon Echo Plus. I have it on my fridge and the bass kicks. I like to listen to music while I wash the dishes and the echo conveniently connects to my Apple Music Subscription letting me listen to all my favorite hits.

Normally I would’ve overlooked this device as it wasn’t what I was in the market for in the first place. Strolled into Best Buy one afternoon looking for a wireless speaker for a get together that I was hosting later that evening and happened upon a display of the various echo products and while it seemed really cool, it was much more than I needed. However, after trying it out I thought “what the heck? Why not?” After all, this model of the echo plus was on sale during a holiday special and I have to admit, whenever I cranked it up in middle of the store the sound quality rivaled, if not outmatched, that of the sound quality of many of the bigger and much more bulky blue tooth speakers (that couldn’t tell me what the weather is like outside or keep track of all 20 of my morning alarms....) It wasn’t until later whenever I got it home that I realized exactly how much it was capable of and surprisingly how simple it is to use! Only drawback is that it has to be plugged in at all times in order to function (as far as I am aware of for this model) For that, paired with the user-friendly nature of this product, I would call it an “in-the-park home run”

I love my Amazon Echo Dot and Fire TV Cube, so I splurged and got this for a friend who is not in the smart home game yet. He is in love with the Echo Plus! Great functionality and a pretty good speaker as well! He's now hooked on smart home products and is looking to get some light bulbs to start off. Great thing about the Echo Plus is there is no need to purchase a bridge kit for most smart home products!

I purchased the Amazon Echo 2nd Gen earlier in the year, and I loved it! The Echo Plus 2nd Gen is clearly a step above, both in terms of functionality and sound quality. I love that it has built-in control for smart bulbs without having to buy a separate bridge. Definitely packs more bass when it comes to music.

I now have two Echo Plus (2nd Gen) units, both of which I purchased recently. This is my first direct experience with voice assistants, so I don't have much to compare with. From a sound perspective, the Echo Plus is decent. Obviously, it can't compete with my home audio system, but for "easy", casual background music listening, I think it's very acceptable. I've noticed what I perceive to be a slight bit of distortion from the speaker on rare occasions, even when the volume isn't that loud. Turning down the volume further though seems to correct that. As for the voice assistant part, Alexa works very nicely with my ADT Pulse system. The Echo Plus easily picks up my voice and I now have Alexa controlling over 25 different lighting devices and thermostats in my house. Also, the Echo Plus was very easy to set up ... mostly automatic and I was up and running in just a couple of minutes. I gave it 4-stars only because "Alexa" gets confused now and then. Periodically she seems to lose communication with a device (light). Other times, she's unable to answer what should be considered very basic questions, or she totally misinterprets a command. Of course, those quirks may be more attributed to the voice-recognition software, rather than the Echo Plus hardware itself and fortunately those annoyances are minimal. Overall, the Echo Plus is a good choice, and it's even better now with the recent price drop.

The echo plus acts as a hub so you don't have to buy several different hubs for the different products. Sound quality is good and we enjoy all the functionality. Works well with ring alarm and even functions as a glass break sensor when the alarm is active.

Enjoying using the Echo Plus (2nd Gen) with Alexa and smart home hub. We are connecting motions sensors and other items for home security and it has been very easy to set up and use. We already had the Echo Dot (3rd Gen) so moved it to our bedroom to receive notifications, etc on as well. We use the Echo Plus in our living room area and both are adequate for us to hear in our small retirement home. Got a great deal through Best Buy and would def purchase again.

I purchased the Echo Plus 2 being the Apple HomePod wasn't in the budget at the time. All I can say is, WHAT A HOOT!!! I love this thing! It's "smart" knowledge is extremely fun, and the music selection it gives me is pretty on point. Operation is easy, setting up is easy, and getting the free light bulb made everything even more cool! I've since been able to purchase a HomePod, and soundwise, it has no peer. However......Siri compared to Alexa? Sadly, I'll be returning the HomePod. The first Apple product I've ever returned. So, for $150 bucks, plus a free light bulb, you can't go wrong. Oh...and it sounds good as well!
