Unreliable, randomly fails with error F02
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A UPS only has to do one thing right in my eyes and that's provide back-up when the power goes out. This is the first APC unit I have encountered that fails to do that. Worse yet, the unit fails intermittently so I'm expected to accept that behavior and "hope" it works when I'm not home to reset it. When street power fails, it might work flawlessly OR it might shut-down, emit a blaring alarm and display F02. Unfortunately, if disconnecting and reconnecting the battery resets the unit, it's considered working by tech support. So, it's actually an Occasionally interruptible Power Supply. Do not buy one.

Posted .Thank you for taking the time to review our BN1500M2 unit. We appreciate the feedback. There are 3 possible reasons for an F02 error on your unit: 1.) there's a true short at the load side and excessive current is detected 2.) there's a weak internal battery 3.) excessive load. If the error comes back what you can do is to remove all the loads first from the UPS, then turn the UPS off and unplug it from the wall. Once UPS is off, remove the battery and then press and hold the power button for 5 seconds while it's completely off. After these, put the battery back on, plug the UPS back to the wall and power it on - UPS should return to normal operation. If the Fault returns with no load connected, please contact us immediately. Otherwise, consider reducing the loads connected to the UPS. To test the condition of the battery, you may run a self test. Just press and hold the power button while it's on and while the loads are connected - wait for 2 beeps then release it.

Posted .Thank you for taking the time to review our UPS. I am sorry to hear that you ran into issues with our unit. If you can I would try to remove all the connected equipment, disconnect the UPS from the wall outlet, disconnect the internal battery, and then hold the power button for around 10 seconds. Reverse the instructions to power the UPS back on to see if the issue clears up. If the issue still remains please reach out to an APCbySchneider support team. Don't waste your money
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had a perfectly reliable CyberPower that I upgraded to this to give me better battery life and a higher VA. However, it's plagued by phantom issues to the point that you can literally type in the model and instantly find a reference on how to fix your problem. I have had it randomly start alarming in the middle of the night with an F error code that was "fixed" by simply turning it off and back on. Today it randomly turned itself and all my attached computer equipment off. Thinking the battery was dead (on a 2 month old unit) I looked up what green light meant and learned turning itself off is common enough that it was the first search for green light apc 1500. I had to unplug it and the battery, then plug both back in. It started right up and the battery was fully charged. So far it's been nothing but disappointing for what I thought was an upgrade over what I had. I've had large APC commercial units that suffered similar problems so this will be my last APC purchase for home use as well.

Nothing but heavy junk!
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this new, installed battery properly, and only charged its battery full once. A few months later, when a bad storm came and shut off the power, I turned it on. Battery was dead even though I've never used it. The machine would not charge the battery even though it was plugged in for hours. I disassembled it to see if anything on the circuit board was burnt; everything inside looked fine. I know the battery couldn't have been dead. I used wires to connect the positive with the negative terminals and got a spark, so the battery had electricity. At least I got a battery I can use for later.

Lasts less than one year
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Two units failed in 12 months. Two completely different electrical systems and this is the only affected device at either location. First unit stopped holding a charge after 6 months. Second unit is fully locked up 9 months in. Green power light is on but device is fully unresponsive and no longer providing power to battery backup outlets. Now its essentially a massive paperweight surge protector. If you need a UPS, and dont want to spring for a rack mounted unit, id suggest avoiding this model. Clearly has serious issues.

BUYER BEWARE
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this to replace another APC unit that failed after a respectable duration of service. It popped and caught fire. This is the unit I replaced it with, and the first failed within 3 months to a F06 error which is apparently a faulty weld. Best Buy was kind enough to replace my order outside their typical return window on August 6th. Last night on August 21st, the replacement unit failed with an F02 error. APC has been giving me the runaround for hours. They are trying to claim that this unit does not support gaming PCs. No, it is not over loaded. It is at 20% currently, and can get higher under load, but I have never seen it over 3 bars (60%) load. This is the same PC that was powered by an older unit with a lower wattage rating. It would stay on for roughly 30+ minutes on the battery alone. Both times this unit failed, it killed power to the PC. The power in the house didn't even flicker the first time, it was a clear summer day. The second there was a strike of lightning in a small freak summer storm at the time of the failure. The failure rate seems through the roof and APC does not help their customers. They make excuses. They make claims about compatibility when there is no list anywhere to show what is "compatible" with their backup. They have every excuse under the sun to avoid helping you when your unit fails after only two weeks and two days of use. Save your time, money, energy and computer and get an Eaton.

Chirps... APC C/S still not aware of fix
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Like other reviewers have mentioned this unit has a very annoying chirp that goes off every 4-5 seconds. It's not any kind of UPS alarm. It's an electronic sounding high pitched chirp. Another reviewer described it well as a flash charging up. I can see how people may not hear it in a noisy environment. But I'm using this in a quiet home office. The reason for the 1 star: After a quick Google search I found that this noise is a common problem on early production units, serial numbers starting with 3B (my unit). APC is supposedly aware of the problem and units with serial numbers that start with 4B are fixed. Even though I just bought the unit, I called APC in hopes to have my unit replaced with the fixed model. The customer service representative I spoke with had no idea what I was talking about. She even went to speak with other team members to see if anyone heard of my issue. Even though the unit was fully charged, she came back suggesting it was the low battery alarm... Ugh... Since I just bought it, I just decided to take the unit back to BestBuy. I actually tried to find a unit on the shelf that started with 4B at BestBuy. All were old stock, starting with 3B. I returned the APC and purchased a CyberPower 1500VA backup unit. It cost less, and it works fine with no chirping. I've used APC products for years, I personally currently own 4 of their Smart-Ups. They were my go to battery backup company. Due to this unit and the lack of informed customer service I'm giving CyberPower a try. APC, it's fine to have a dud every once in a while. But inform your customer service to help current customers and get the bad units off the shelves. Obviously, there's a known issue with a few components you used. Don't keep selling the old units hoping customers don't notice.

Can't recommend APC
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've have 3 APC units and one of them is a different model. They all 3 failed in the same way (overheating and strong bad smell). One of them came defective, the other one failed roughly within a year with almost no use. The other one lasted a bit longer but I can't really recommend APC with 3 out of 3 units failed. I treat my equipment very well so it was not because of misuse. Will see if I have better luck it CyberPower or another brand.

Used 3x and now doesn’t turn on
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Came with “quality assurance” receipt taped to the side of it. Not sure if this is standard but the tape was yellowed like it was from decades ago…which was a red flag to take it back. A few months after getting it, I used it during a black out for like 5 min and I thought it was weird that I had so little juice remaining, despite fully charging it just a couple days prior. Second red flag. I took to my daughters grad party to use for end of year slideshow that I worked endless hours making perfect. Had just charged it a couple days before so I knew I was good to go. Wrong. I hook it up and it lasted a whopping 12 mins. I was (& still kinda am) devastated. Third red flag. Finally, a week ago I go to start it and it and it doesn’t turn on. So I plug it in and it still didn’t turn on. Here I am a year out haven’t used it more than 3x and it’s essentially trash.

Disappointing and unusable – constant F02 Error
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this APC UPS surge protector with battery backup a month ago, hoping for reliable power protection and backup, but it has been nothing but a disappointment. Every time when there is power outage(even for a few seconds), I get an F02 error, which makes it completely unusable. I’ve followed troubleshooting steps, but the problem persists. For a product that’s supposed to safeguard my devices and keep them running during power outages, this constant failure means it’s not fulfilling its primary purpose. Instead of peace of mind, I now have the headache of dealing with an unreliable UPS that shuts down unexpectedly. I expected better from a brand like APC, but sadly, this has been a waste of money and time. I cannot recommend this to anyone looking for dependable surge protection and power backup.

DO NOT BUY THIS!!!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Undoubtedly the worst UPS purchase I have ever made! The unit failed twice in the first month, and of course it was after Best Buy’s very short return period. So I contacted APC. They told me to turn it off when I left the house. That’s utterly ridiculous advice for a UPS, the purpose of which is to keep power on. APC refused to honor the warranty until I threatened to write their corporate headquarters, and then they only agreed to send a battery. Never again will I purchase any APC/Schneider Electric products, and I will be very careful what I purchase from Best Buy.

||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The APC turns on and seems as if it's functioning however a plugged in computer and monitor will not turn on. F2 Error codes constantly losing power.
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased June of 24 and it has not been very secure. Looking into buying a better one. Should easily have handled 2 iMac machines and it goes off every time there is a surge or power outage. APC is usually very reliable and this one was not. Disappointing and losing work because of this backup. F2 is not a good code. Tried everything to resolve. Do Not buy!

Poor quality
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Months after setup, awful noise came from the device with an odd error message. After looking it up, found out it was a faulty battery. Not worth the time to deal with the company to get a warranty replacement. Might buy APC one more time to see if they consistently dropped in quality. But one more is all they will get from me. I had a poor voltage regulator from them too. Not the same as I remember. The products used to be good.

Buggy product
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I WOULD AVOID THIS UPS. The whole point is to protect something in the event event of a power outage. I've had one computer plugged into this unit. We had a period with some very brief power interruptions, sometimes lasting less than 5seconds. At least three times, the UPS displayed an F02 error. Twice, the alarm blared continuously, could not be silenced. After the final event, I was able to silence the alarm, but could not shut off the UPS, i.e., holding the power button did not shut it off. The only solution was disconnecting the battery. What is really maddening is that, after the last power outage, my computer now will not boot. Coincidence, or related to the UPS performance? I'm leaning to the latter. I've had the UPS for only 3 1/2 months. I expected a "plug it in, and forget it" type of product. Instead, it appears to be a product that needs to be babysat. I will contact customer support, but I'm not impressed with their responses I see here

Nothing but trouble with this one
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased The APC 1500VA about 6 months ago and it has had a ton of issues. I am a Best Buy Total Tech Member and I incorrectly assumed this item was under their protection plan. So when I took it in to Best Buy they said that they could not replace it and I had to go through the manufacturer's warranty, which is irritating because this is the only reason I bought this item through Best Buy. I could have saved money and bought from a competitor. The issues I have had are: 3 times the UPS has stopped allowing things plugged in to turn on (I had to unseat the battery and re-seat it for it to start working again), then there was a power outage and instead of using the battery it acted like a surge protector and everything just shut off, and now the UPS will not connect to the app anymore. This item is normally highly rated, so I could have just got a dud, but I pay the premium for what should be high quality items to avoid having to use manufacturers warranties.

Posted .Thank you for taking the time to review our BN1500M2. We appreciate the feedback and I apologize that you had some hard times with the unit. Please confirm the loads connected to your UPS and make sure that the total power draw of them does not exceed the 900 watts capacity of the UPS. Moreover, please make sure that your critical loads are also connected to the Battery+Surge outlets for them to get battery back up power in case of power events. For further assistance, you may also contact us via chat or phone regarding this matter.

Avoid this crap
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Have had this for a little over a year now. Today it suddenly stopped outputting any power and shut down my computer and other equipment. Power to outlet and rest of house were fine. Breaker was fine. Solid green light was on monitor but no response to anything, even after unplugging. Finally resolved the issue by disconnecting the batter and re-connecting. I've never had a power outage or dip since I've owned this unit. The whole idea is to prevent a sudden shutdown of my computer in case of power problems, yet this piece of equipment did exactly that for me even though there were no power issues what so ever. Googling the issue shows it is common with this unit. I would avoid APC.

Defective APC-Back UPS.
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The APC back UPS Pro BIN 1500 VA never worked upon it's arrival to my home as purchased this year. I kept getting the FO2 malfunctioning error and a loud alarm. I made various phone calls to the manufacturer for help and support to get a replacement but they kept putting me off saying I needed to charge the battery. I wrote the company and still received no help. This is a great disappointment to me and a waste of money. I would not recommend purchasing this brand of Back-UPS to anyone. Defective/Noisy
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Already have one of these and just bought another one for a different setup. This APC makes a continuous, faint but very audible screeching-whining-sound. It's not the alarm, it's the electronics in the unit itself making the sound. My other one does not do this at all; it's clearly a defect in the new one. Back it goes, and I'm going to see if I have better luck with a different brand.
