I’ve used these leather Apple cases since my 5/5S. This one does not disappoint. Thin and protective. Great soft feel. Perfect fit. The only downside is they are not as ‘grippy’ as the silicone case. Also, grab it in store and check it first. Mine was shipped and had scratches on the back of the case already.

I was told that it gets better with time. I liked the color now however when I saw the employee's case I understood what he meant. It's great now but I look forward to the change. Covers the phone well too, and not too bulky.

Although I use both iOS and Android devices, I have tended to be partial towards Apple products over the years. Of course, one of the problems with that is Apple's prices. For most people (including myself), the "Apple tax" can be prohibitive and excessive. If the iPhone XS Max is “Exhibit A,” then Apple's $49.99 Leather Case is “Exhibit B.” I have owned the iPhone 5, 5S, 6 Plus, 6S Plus, SE, and 7 Plus, but always chose to go with a case made by a third party. First, I hate scratches on my phone and third-party cases offer coverage that includes the bottom lip. The second reason is price; cases from other reputable manufacturers are often cheaper than Apple-produced accessories. The internet is practically littered with budget iPhone cases for $15 or less. But this time around, I opted to go with the official Apple leather case (in Midnight Blue). Here's what sealed the deal for me, and it might do the same for you. For many accessories, Best Buy often offers a 25% promotional savings when bundled in a set of three or more. It doesn't have to be three of the same accessory, and Apple products aren't excluded! Because I purchased a Zagg screen protector and Apple USB-C-to-Lightning Cable along with this case, the usual $49.99 price tag magically dropped to $37.49. I will always purchase my phone accessories from Best Buy for this reason. Obviously, this still costs more than a typical budget case, but consider that you use your phone for several hours each day. It’s worth the investment in my opinion. Now a couple of tidbits about the product itself: Like most Apple products, fit and finish are second-to-none. The case feels luxurious and well-crafted. One concern that I have seen online is the slick texture of the leather. Depending on the person, this could be a real concern for you. For example, my own father could not get over the initial slickness of his leather case, so I replaced his with a different brand. However, my hands tend to be slightly sweatier than his, and I can attest that the texture has become far grippier over my six weeks of ownership. It feels secure in the hand, and it has not slipped out of my hands once. Two weeks ago, I cleaned the case and applied Meguiar’s leather conditioner to it. The leather patina has really blossomed into a deeper midnight blue hue. Lastly, my initial concern over the exposed bottom lip has turned out to be a non-factor so far. Even though I routinely keep the phone in my pocket with keys, coins, and scraps of paper, the new stainless steel on the XS Max has been durable and scratch-resistant. The bottom lip still looks brand-new. TL;DR: This Apple leather case is better than a third-party case. Bundle three accessories at Best Buy and save 25%.

6 months now heavy use and some drops later, no damage to iPhone or glass and the leather is definitely growing character.

I’ve had an iPhone ever since the 3s came out so I have had a lot of cases for them. But I got this Apple-IPhone XS Max Leather Case in Black and its the one and only. It fits like a glove. You can’t even tell if there’s a case on it or not. Believe me about this one.

I love this case so much I’m about to buy another one

At first, my saddle brown case seemed a little too slippery, but after 1-2 weeks of use, it’s starting to get grippier. Also, I can already see some patina developing on the sides where I frequently hold the device which creates this beautiful dark brown color. The metal buttons are very clicky, satisfying, and add to the premium feel of the leather, which is very smooth and doesn’t collect dust and debris like the silicon version (which is also more difficult to take out of pockets). In terms of bulkiness, it’s definitely on the slimmer side so wireless charging still works, but it still feels solid and durable, and there is a lip which adds some protection to the front. The bottom is exposed, however I personally like it that way, because it makes it easier to do the swipe gestures on the iPhone XS Max. And because it’s not too bulky and the bottom is exposed, the case is also easier to remove. Overall, I highly recommend this case because it does feel like it’s part of the phone and that it’s designed to be this way since it’s natural leather in contrast to most other cases which are synthetic and industrial, and in my opinion, that aspect definitely contributes to a more premium and enjoyable experience.

Few month ago I drop my iPhone with the Apple case on. I notice a few torn on the case . But you could hardly notice unless you look at them directly. My main problem when I took the case off , the back of my iPhone was badly crack. It was a big disappointment because I just took it out from my pocket and drop it . I am usually very careful with my phone but that day I tripped and drop my phone. It is a Nice case but it won’t protect you phone!

Apple does an excellent job with the leather cases, great quality, feels good in the hand and overtime it ages well. It offers solid protection especially when paired with a glass screen protector. Wireless charging works with this case too! The case also doesn’t add much bulk and makes the iPhone look even better!

Had a supcase that only lasted about 6 months before it was all scratched up and nasty looking. First time going with a genuine Apple leather case and I’m glad I did. A few weeks in and it has a very nice patina starting that will only look better with age. Feels very premium in the hand, not like every other run of the mill plastic and rubber cases that make your phone look like everyone else’s. You spent $1000+ on the phone, get a nice case for it. I’ve dropped it many times and it has protected my phone every time and don’t even see any visible damage on the case. Well worth it!

My first Apple iPhone case was the silicone version I purchased for my iPhone 6. It was a good looking case, and the silicone gave it fantastic grip not only in the hand but also resting on the console or front seat of my car (that was a must). I had not even considered a leather case at the time mostly due to the cost. However, when I purchased the iPhone XS Max I figured I might as well go all out and get Apple's leather case. The case is gorgeous and the leather feels luxurious. However, there is virtually no grip to the case out of the box. In fact the phone nearly slipped out of my hand after I newly installed my phone as I attempted to pass it to my son so that he could experience the great feel of the leather. It became clear that I would not be able to use the phone one-handed while in the leather case; this was a non-starter. Ultimately I exchanged the leather case for the silicone version and have been happy with my decision. I understand that the leather cases become more tacky over time as they absorb the natural oils from our hands, but I did not have the time to develop such a patina nor did I wish to risk dropping my phone on a regular basis.

When first purchased, it felt a bit slippery in hand. After it has "worn in" a bit, it has softened and now has a good grip. This is normal for most leather or leather-like items. Now is it excellent. It feels like it wouldn't offer much protection, but I have bumped the phone a few times and there is no apparent damage to the case (or phone). The fitment is perfect as would be expected from an Apple product. Whenever I upgrade down the road I will be looking at this type of case for that phone.

Something I like about apple is that I never regret a purchase. When you buy an apple product you know you’re getting quality, and this case is not the exception. One of the pros of getting the black case is that, eventhough leather cases usually get scratched very easily, on this color you barely notice it... so it keeps looking like new for more time. I definitely recommend this one...

The fit is perfect. Not close, but literally perfect. The open bottom is ideal for use with accessories. It's super-super thin, which is actually very good because the XS Max is huge, and adding too much bulk would make it harder to hold. The leather is very premium, and metal buttons that extend the volume and lock keys are top quality. But... the grip is not great. My hand easily slides along the leather and I dropped my phone a couple times. I switch to a rubber case and the grip improved dramatically, and I didn't drop it anymore.

Official Apple accessories are never cheap, but I did get it on sale and saved $10. Big $$$ investment in the Xs Max, no reason to go cheap on the case. Perfect fit and alignment with the buttons and rear camera is sufficiently protected when placed down. Was concerned about no coverage across the bottom, but it works, no issues. The leather can be slippery if your hands are dry. Applying leather conditioner on a regular basis helps. Leather always improves over time if conditioned.

Not much to say about this case. If you’re looking for something that will protect your phone from falling off a 10 story building, this isn’t the case for you. If you’re interested in looks and aesthetics with light protection to keep your phone looking nice, this case IS for you. The leather feels great in your hand and is not slippery whatsoever. The black keeps its color over time (unlike the lighter colors which age and end up looking a bit dirty). Black also matches well with all of the iPhone colors. You don’t NEED an Apple leather case. It’s expensive and not necessary. I personally like to keep the Apple branding, although this case is very nice regardless. If you don’t care about that, just find another random leather case.

This is a really great case!! I love the color that goes really good with the watch band I got for my Apple Watch. Not bulky and feels good in the hand plus looks sleek and upclass!!! Would highly recommend!

Bought this along with my new XSMax since I wanted protection for the glass back of the iPhone. I had already ordered a folio case but wanted protection NOW. This fit the bill perfectly. It is well made, looks great, feels great, and fits perfectly as you might expect from Apple. It did a fine job protecting the back of my phone while waiting on the folio case to arrive. If you have a new glass back iPhone and you don't want a folio case - get this to protect the back and something like Otterbox AlphaGlass to protect the delicate screen (at least from scratches if not breakage) - You'll be glad to avoid the expense and temporary loss of your phone while it is being repaired.

I immediately ordered this case for my new iPhone Xs max right after I pick it up from the Apple store. The saddle brown color is the classiest of all the leather cases. The patina that eventually shows with use makes it look like a fine piece of Italian leather product. The lighter colors simply look dirty with use and the darker colors hide the patina a little bit too much. This is the best case that Apple makes for any of their phones
