I purchased the iPod shuffle® 2GB MP3 Player exclusively for running. Previously I was using my iPod Touch to listen to music as I ran. The Touch was bulky and I wanted to go with something lighter. The silver shuffle fit the bill. Great item to use when exercising. I recommend getting over-the-ear ear buds to use when doing any sort of movement.

I've been an iPod Shuffle user and fan since the 1st Generation. They are terrific devices for active people that don't want to carry or risk damaging/losing their expensive smartphone. I've owned both the 1st and 2nd Generations. I skipped the 3rd generation which in my opinion was an ergonomic disaster - no buttons at all. I was happy to see that Apple brought back the click control wheel in the 4th generation. Plus the addition of voiceover is terrific. I subtracted one star because the shuffle's click control wheel on the 4th generation shuffle is now centered rather than offset like it was on the 2nd generation. Why does this matter? It's almost impossible to click the shuffle to your clothing without pressing the click control wheel which of course sends a command to the shuffle. To avoid that, the shuffle must be turned off or the control buttons locked. In comparison, the offset wheel on the 2nd Generation allowed for a solid place on the shuffle for your fingers when clipping the shuffle on and off. See the photo of the entire iPod family I uploaded to get a better idea of what I'm talking about. Sure the 4th generation shuffle is slightly smaller than the 2nd generation but the size reduction offers no value and significantly detracts from overall functionality.

To avoid lugging my iPhone 6S plus around when running and working out, I purchased this. 2GB for $50 is ridiculous (should be at least double that) and the fact that you can't use Apple's monthly music service with this device (Apple's own device) is nutty but the product itself is solid, lightweight and easy to use.

I have been using ipod shuffle solely during my workout session since it is so convenient to carry on you. Pros:- 1)Very Small size and practically weightless. 2)Clips on anywhere on your clothes. 3)Good throughput. 4)Extremely good battery life. Cons:-1) Comes only in 2GB which is really not much. 2)No Bluetooth capability so wired headphones are the only option. Wired Headphones might snap out of your ears while working out. But clipping the wires through the inside of your shirt should combat the issue. 3)Can be easily lost. There are many pros and cons besides above but if you're buying for your Workout, Biking or Running session, hands down go for it.

I bought the ipod shuffle because the ipod touch just seemed a little too big and a little too involved to take with me while running. It shames me to even say that... years ago I ran with a walkman cassette player that probably weighed 4 lbs and was about 50x as big... Anyway, for my purposes, the shuffle is perfect. It is tiny, light weight, and has a clip that will actually hold it onto your clothing pretty much anywhere you want to clip it. The controls are intuitive and not nearly as involved as the ipod touch. Mind you, I'm not putting down the ipod touch at all, it's just that while running I don't want to have to press a button, swipe the bottom and then hope I was holding it upright so that I can change a song or adjust the volume. The shuffle solves all those issues for me. I might have liked just a little more memory.... but honestly 2 gigs is still a ton of music. New to this "latest generation" are some new colors (though I personally don't really care much about the fashion aspect of a 1 inch square device) and the voice over button... "Siri" is now in the shuffle. Press the button and a voice tells you the name of the song and the group. A little bit of overkill in my opinion, but still pretty impressive. I use the Shuffle when running. The clip keeps the unit in place, it holds enough songs to run 13.1 without repeat, and the Shuffle randomizes the tunes well so you don't know what's coming next. The controls are intuitive and can be operated out of sight with no issues. Plenty of volume and no need to charge after every workout... great product!

Small in size but very big in sound holds plenty of music excellent battery life

I got this ipod for going to the gym, and in my opinion, it is the best MP3 player for that purpose. It is small and lightweight, so it does not weigh my clothing down unconfortably as I lift, run, bike, etc., and the built-in clip is strong and makes it super simple to clamp onto my shirt or shorts. Without the screen, it also is much less of a distraction (vs a phone or more versatile player), and the focus of the shuffle on music helps my focus to be my exercise, not my facebook account.

Maintains sound quality. Very easy to operate. Has essential controls. Holds approximately 200 songs. Seems to play 10-15 hours on one charge - may depend on volume. Relatively inexpensive. Easy to carry or hide in car. Ideal with a quality bluetooth speaker - very portable. Highly recommend. P.S. When the battery will no longer take a charge (2-3yrs?), Apple will sell you a new one from a warehouse. They are no longer being "manufactured". So, save your Playlist(s). Nonetheless, if available, I will stay with this product forever and use my iphone battery for its needs.

The Shuffle is very small about 1 inch square and quite thin. It has a clip to hang it from a shirt or backpack. It is not Bluetooth so a wire is needed. For wireless capability, a Bluetooth Transmitter can be plugged in to the Shuffle to use it without a wire. Holds about 500 songs, charge holds for quite awhile. Tells you verbally when charging is needed. It has no screen so songs are played in random order or one after another. Easy to load and change content using iTunes.. Believe the Shuffle is now or soon to be discontinued so I got one before they disappear.

Bought this for my daughter for christmas as her off brand MP3 died on her. She loves this new one - small, easy to use, and great sound quality. Ordering on line was easy and product was delivered in a timely manner. Very happy with my whole BestBuy experience!!!

I basically just use this when exercising. It has enough storage to hold all of the music I need and it sounds much better the 2nd generation (I use ear buds that didn't come with the unit. Not a fan of the Apple generic ear buds). Also, This does not need a docking station to charge and sync. It just has a little cord that plugs right into your computer. It is much less cumbersome the 2nd generation also and I believe the battery lasts longer but I am not sure. My old 2nd generation was having problems charging and/or with the battery.

The battery life is amazing, i use it while riding my bike and i just leave it on the bike, it shuts itself off automatically... Sound is great from such a lil device and its so small its easy to keep out of your way when exercising.

Great player for running. Very light and small. Comes with an installed clip, so no worrying about the player detaching from the clip. The clip is very stable. The only downside is that there is no Bluetooth, so always have to use corded headphones. So far is sweat resistance. This is my second iPod Shuffle, and the first one has been working for over 5 years and continues to work. Bought this one as a backup because they have been discontinued. Overall, highly recommend this product.

Wonderful product for all activities. It is easy to use while running or doing other kinds of activities. I love that it can clip onto things. Its only down side is it is susceptible to moisture. I take precautions when I use it for running, but eventually, the sweat kills the device. I am on my 5th Shuffle in the past 4 years.

The iPod Shuffle holds a good amount of songs and has a good battery life. The size of the Shuffle is amazing and fits just about anywhere. I use mine for running and it's not even noticeable. As others have said in other reviews out there, the actual randomness of the song play is questionable, but that is a minor issue since I assume most people will put their favorites on it and not really mind the lack of a true randomness in the songs cycle.

This iPod is light weight, easy to use, and inexpensive. Perfect for using during a workout!

The shuffle is one mighty tiny music player that is perfect for the gym, running, yard work, and travel. You can load about 8 hours of music which will last you as you fly across America, and is more than enough for running a marathon. Best part is it clips easily and snugly onto a shirt sleeve or collar, and you hardly notice it is there. Highly recommend!

Very happy with my shuffle. Excellent sound and song capacity. Easy to use and wonderfully compact.

My husband had an IPod Classic that started to have issues. My husband is legally blind, so I didn't think the IPod Touch or IPod Nano was a good choice. Wasn't sure about the Shuffle since you cannot see your music list, but it has worked out just fine for him. He likes the smaller size, and that it clips on his shirt at the gym. We were able to put over 400 songs on it. We are both very satisfied with the purchase.
