Ultimate laptop setup, pure beast, priced right.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted to build the ultimate laptop setup that could run a triple monitor setup and have the ability to be portable at the same time. This setup was in need of an Nvidia Pascal based laptop, and there are some competitors, but after doing extensive research, even down to the pipelines going into the mini display port, the clear winner was the Asus G752VS series. There are three models to chose from there, 2 are from ASUS and one is the Best Buy exclusive version, which is by far the best bang for the buck. There is an overclocked version of the G752VS, and you will really see little to no difference there. I did complete benchmarks on the differences of the CPU clock and RAM, and clearly it is insignificant on the 2400 vs 2133 RAM or find more than 16GB of RAM is overkill, although there is a performance difference in the CPU speed, but not to the point of justifying $500 more. Therefore, this Best Buy version was the winner at $2.2k. Now onto the big dilemma for laptops: you will find 99% of triple monitor setups using an AMD/ATI setup there which uses Eyefinity to process the displays, or run an external GPU and go with an Alienware R17 laptop that has an external GPU dock port (expensive method as you not only need to buy the dock, but the graphic card as well). However, what about an Nvidia setup? sure for PC this is very easy since there are graphics cards with at least 3 ports to run monitors from. However, for laptops that is not the case. Therefore, you must use a Multi Stream Transport (MST) Hub, to connect 3 HDMI monitors to the mini display port. However, NVIDIA Surround (which is similar to ATI Eyefinity) does not support MST Hubs. So what's the workaround? simple, the new Pascal 1070 cards actually have within their driver's software support for MST's but this is not turned on as of Nov 2016. The workaround is to only run 2 HDMI monitors at 1920x1080 (High-definition 1080p) @60hz off the MST hub that is plugged into the mini display port, and then run another HDMI monitor off the HDMI port of the laptop at 1920x1080 (High-definition 1080p) @60hz. I purchased a StarTech MSTMDP123HD MST Hub - Mini DisplayPort to 3x HDMI for around $117. You can then setup Nvidia Surround to run the triple monitors in Nvidia Surround mode, use bezel correction to your liking and then run the laptop's monitor as the primary (you can run the laptop monitor at 1080p resolution and up to 75hz as it is not being used in the Surround mode) and set that to primary and extend. You will have 5760 x 1080 resolution across three monitors, or in my case due to thin bezels and bezel correction 5870 x 1080, and a 4th monitor (the laptops monitor) at whatever res you set it to. The only thing you must make sure to do is CLOSE THE LID of the laptop when playing games across the triple monitors as games will run in those 3 monitors, you do not need to close the lid when running apps for productivity and can utilize all 4 screens, only gaming which is using PhysX and Surround mode across the 3 monitors. Games look incredible, and work is insanely more productive. This laptop has handled everything thrown at it, from gaming to stock trading intensely. nothing has slowed it down. I could never go back to a single monitor setup ever again. Also, I love the keyboard, even though I use an external James Donkey mechanical keyboard and mouse. The only caveat is the screen, which in black colors you can see a pinching at the corners from the snaps (this is only visible in dark colors not in light or in video movement). There is a major issue with the led lights, and the current bios 306 may have corrected it, but to ensure you do not run into the problems, simply do not ever run the ROG gaming center (really no point as it does not flash memory to retain any settings) and you will be fine. For some reason that program hooks into the bios (USB root hub- which the LED's run power from) after initial run and completely disrupts the functions of the backlighting and lid lights thereafter. Only workaround if you mistakenly ran ROG gaming center is to flash the bios to 306 and DO NOT run ROG gaming center again, it's useless to run it as it is already configured to overclocked mode straight out the gate. Running the ROG sound program is fine. Regards, George.

Killer ROG laptop
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Always buy ASUS ROG laptops, about every four years. This is my third one. Used as a desktop replacement, very heavy to travel with... Runs flawlessly despite having Win10. Easy to upgrade HD and memory if needed. (Upgraded my previous 2012 model with a solid state drive and memory from BestBuy and it is still running strong!) The glowing red from the top and back were a bit much for me, so I turned them off.

Good machine, but too big
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this pc because its a beast, top video card, 17inch, ssd and memory, everything a gamer or a video professional would ask for. But its too big, and when i say its big its extremelly big, i couldnt find a backpack that can carry him, i tried all Best Buy bags and no sucesss, /so i went to an outlet and tried all back packs from Oakley, Samsonite, and many other brandsand noone could fit it. So if you are planning on carrying it from amplace to other its wont work, and if you dont. And to carry it around, well buy an desktop. I traded mine for an Asus strix 17, its have a slower video card but he is really smaller and fits in any 17 ich back packs

Screaming Machine
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So I read a ton of reviews on the GTX1070 in a laptop. I was a little skeptical on the performance that they were boasting for the graphics card. Man was I surprised when I got the machine. I had to order it online which it fine, but I was a little disappointed that I wasn't able to pick it up on the stop. This laptop was a beast! I run a lot of very graphically intense games on my laptop. Arma 3, Life is Feudal, Fallout 4 On my old laptop which held a 960M graphic card, I had to run those titles on medium or lower graphic settings. On my desktop I am running GTX970 in a SLI config and I could run some of those game in high settings. On this BEAST!!! I can run these titles on ULTRA and still get 30-40 FPS without missing a beat. I was worth the price I paid for the laptop. I would recommend and have recommended this machine to multiple people. The only issue I have with the laptop is there is one pixel in the screen that is dead. I am watching it closely to make sure that it doesn't spread.

Exceeded my expectations
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. At first I wanted the Oc version of this asus rog laptop but upon seeing the specs It already has all that I needed. The windows boots for 12 secs and thats start to finish. All games that I have it can handle max settings in 1080p. I tested it and played battlefield 1 for 6 hrs and the hottest temp I got is 65deg. Considering im running it on max settings. Overall the looks is average but the back of this laptop is what impresses me. It has red and orange lightings both on the rog logo and the air vents which the old version doesnt have. Its a bang for a buck laptop if u dont need the extra oc. The stock speed of this machine is already enough for 1080p. But if you are looking for a 4k more future proof laptop go with the oc edition.

There might be some issues
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop started some minor issues after I bought it for the second week, and problems get a little worse after two weeks (returned to the the seller limit). For example, it freezes when I started the power button, and it never get into windows, so, I have to force it shotdown and use a Windows start up (backup) flash disc (USB) and start it over again. Normally, three of the five times I need to use this flash disc to start the Windows 10 before I use this computer. Otherwise, the gaming is fine, not too many troubles during gaming.

Great laptop
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop has been great so far since i received it a month ago. This laptop does everything my last one could, like run games on high to ultra settings instead of medium to low. I would recommend if your looking for a new gaming laptop to at least take a look at this one.

Good machine, except for a major thing
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So I bought this machine on October 10, 2016. The machine is beautiful to look at. + keyboard is fantastic + touchpad is one of the best on any laptops + 1070 graphics card screams + plenty of ventilation - wifi problems I could connect to wifi, but the speeds were very unstable. One minute i could have a great connection and the next it would drop down to 400kbs. It is the only device in the house that does this. I tried switching it to 5ghz, and that didnt help. I tried new drivers, that didn't work. I tried older drivers, that didnt work. Nothing I tried could get the wifi to work right. Some times it would work for an hour or two, and the next I was getting disconnected from my games. Very annoying. Therefore, on 11/2/16 I have decided to send this machine back.

Top Notch Gaming Laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this G752VS laptop from Best Buy about 6 weeks ago now. I could not be happier about it. :D Pros: GTX 1070 16 GB of RAM 512 GB NVMe SSD Honestly, I did a lot of shopping around and these specs are hard to touch at this price point. Almost all other laptops with a GTX 1070, had maybe a 128 GB SATA SSD. For a little extra money, this Asus bumped me up to a 512 GB NVMe SSD. For the price difference between an MSI or Gigabyte on any website, I couldn't buy the included SSD and upgrade it myself. This G752VS screams in games, but not in the literal sense. I almost can't believe how quiet it is. I've stopped and felt the back to make sure the fans were actually blowing. I'm also including USB ports in the Pro list. I use 3 or 4 ports routinely. This laptop has 4 USB 3 ports, and 1 Type C port. Other bands only had 3 ports which would have required a USB hub. Cons: It's huge. Massively huge. You might even say it's "yuge". This weighs about 10 lbs, and you do notice it. If you own a "normal" 17.3" laptop now and have things like a case for it, this is almost positively not going to fit. Plan on a new case or backpack. Shop for an 18.3" laptop case, as that is closer to the actual dimensions of this laptop. I also have to say that Asus support is lacking. If you like to do emails, it takes WEEKS to get much done. Average response time to an email support ticket is about 4 days. That's for every email you send. I am an IT guy, so really I just gave up and dealt with the issue myself. The Asus ROG forums are much more helpful for finding answers to common issues.

Great Laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is probably one of the best laptops around at the time of this review, it can run pretty much anything on Ultra graphics. It has the newest 6th Gen Intel, brand new 1070 GTX graphics and G-Sync. Nothing more you could ask for. Works great.

I hate being "that guy" but....
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So the performan0e of this laptop is great. It pro0esses through games and eveyrthing just fine. However, if you noti0e that there are a few errors as I type, parti0ularly when I type the third letter in the alphabet. Well Asus put out an "update" for the firmware on the bios and 0onsequently the c key and the 0 key have been swit0hed. So now everytime I type 0 it gives me a zero. I 0onta0ed asus about the issue and apparently they messed up the firmware and are trying to fix it. How hard 0ould this be to fix? The as0ii 0ode is just messed up. 0orre0t it! For a $2000 plus laptop, this is absolutely un a00eptable. Also I have to disable the keypad whenever I type be0ause if I don't the mouse gets 0li0ked on the keypad and stops my typing. I feel bad for this review, but asus needs to be held a00ountable on this. as this error is extremely frustrating. The laptop's perfoman0e is good and I plan to update if Asus re0itifies the situation.
