I wanted an internal DVD drive and a smaller, lighter laptop. This is a peppy performer. I have nothing but good things to say about this beauty.

Neither Dell nor HP could match price for specs. Fast, runs Steam great and easy to pack. "Freebie" software is mostly annoying bloat ware IMO. This will handle my sons' gaming, homework, coding, research and video compiling for a while!

The laptop looks amazing and has great specs but the fan is too loud, the battery life is terrible and after a month of usage it stopped working.

I hate to say this because I love asus but I was very disappointed in this laptop. I don’t know if I just got a bad one or what. I waited over a month for it and turned it on and it took forever to start up. Returned it and ended up getting an open box Alienwarez

This laptop is very fast and the screen is crystal clear.

The computer is very powerful and good for games. It is slow to start when you turn it on.

Just upgraded to the Asus GL553VD. Very happy with this unit. Not a big time gamer but this plays World of Warcraft: Legion on Ultra high settings at 60 FPS when questing. More populated cities about 45 to 60 FPS still on ultra high. The only issue I have is it runs pretty warm. You can adjust your fan speeds to help keep it cool(nice option). I bought a laptop fan for 20 bucks off Amazon and I have no issues. Other than that I am very happy with this laptop.

Just picked this up today, looks awesome, little heavy but clean. Plugged it in, instantly failed boot up. It Took me to the screen saver screen / start screen. Asked for username and password, don't have one yet, so tried Microsoft account login, didn't work, used command prompt on start up, and did a hard reset on computer. Works now, but the screen is also very terrible. Instead of being solid color, the edges and corners are some what white colored on a black screen. Like if you pressed on the screen. Very un happy, spent $1000, and got a dud. Going to take back and get another one something different.

I got this computer for my son. Every time he went to watch a video, the hardware failed and it would not boot up. He had to reset the computer back to factory standards for it to work. He took it to Best Buy and the Geek Squad said it was not a hardware problem, it was a software problem. He finally paid for the Geek Squad service and they looked at it again and said oh yeah this is a hardware problem. The store then looked for something comparable since this computer was sold out. The closest ASUS was less RAM, but cost more because it had the upgraded graphics card. They wanted him to get that one, but they wanted him to pay an extra $100 for it. The next closest was an MSI, but it was 17 inches instead of the 15.6 and it had less gig dedicated to the graphics. We have never really heard of MSI so hoping it is a good brand. It also had a CD/DVD burner which we didn't really want either. We went with that one, but not totally happy we had to downgrade a little in our estimation for the same price (they took $40 off the price). We ended up with features we did not want and less RAM dedicated to the graphics. This was frustrating since he was using it for a gaming computer. It is also heavier with the bigger screen and CD drive.

This computer is amazing. I love how fast and smooth it is. I love the look of it. I basically love everything about it.
