Underpowered 3080 GPU Results worse than a 3070
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Well built, but unfortunately It underperforms with less power than the average 3070 because Asus Severely Underpowered the GPU. If you expect the performance of a traditional 3080 Laptop look for one that supplies at least 200 watts to actually get the performance you're paying for. I took several methods to ensure the laptop was cool enough with 41 C environment to avoid thermal throttling. Even at it's coolest it will perform worse than your typical rtx 3070 laptop because of a severely underpowered Charging block that doesn't supply the GPU with enough Watts. Unfortunately it's like having a Lamborghini engine performing like a 4 cylinder Mini van because it has a slow gas pump. what a shame. For Miners: Tested in 41 C ambient Temps with NiceHash DaggerHashimoto Algorithm Asus ROG Zephyrus G15 RTX3080 Laptop Stock Performance : 38 Mh/s (A/C Cooled to 45 Celsius) Overclocked to +2000 Mhz Memory / - 260Mhz Core: 48Mh/s (A/C Cooled to 51 Celsius) Compared to my personal two 3070 Laptops: Razor 3070 Laptop = 51 Mh/s HP omen 3070 Laptop = 50.8 Mh/s Don't waste your money on a 2.3k laptop that Mines worse than a typical 3070 Laptop.

||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.DO NOT BUY! Returned 3 laptops due to screen issues. 1st one had a single dead pixel, the next two had terrible screen bleed on the top right of the screen due to how they installed it. I imagine every laptop has this issue to some degree. YouTube "hdr black screen" to see if yours has white spots on the edges. Do not let them tell you this is normal. POOR quality control on Asus part. Get any other brand!

Good Laptop
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I actually love this laptop, I've dowloaded and played so many games. The only downside is the heat (when i play sims lol because of my mods and cc) and the battery life. I have a ps5 but I've enjoyed the xbox games as well.

some compromises, but still a good laptop
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.positive: * very powerful laptop for the form factor * unusually long battery life for a gaming laptop * overbuilt cooling and efficient components make this surprisingly nice to use in bed (on silent mode). I never hear the fans spin up browsing the web, watching videos, etc. I actually prefer it to my old ultrabook for this use case neutral: * build quality and overall fit and finish are just okay. honestly exceeds my expectations for a gaming laptop, but it's not close to a thinkpad/xps/macbook level of quality. * rtx 3080 limited to 100 W isn't worth the money in my opinion. I would have preferred 32 GB of memory. * it's subtle, but it does have the "gamer" aesthetic. whether this is a pro or con depends on your personal taste. negative: * QC issues. don't buy this if you aren't prepared to return one or two to get a good unit. I only had to return one to get a machine I was happy with, but others have not been so lucky * significant backlight bleed on the unit I ended up accepting. * color accuracy out of the box also leaves a lot to be desired. * only one of the two sticks of RAM is user-upgradeable. the other is soldered down. so if you want to increase the memory, you can't run in dual channel mode. weird choice for a gaming laptop. bottom line: it has its flaws, but I think this is the best 15.6" gaming laptop of 2021. if only it came with an RTX 3070 and 32 GB of ram.

Great bang for your buck.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The mic is surprisingly amazing. The audio is beefy. The keyboard is RGB. Update the BIOS asap though as there might be some features you need that are in an updated BIOS. Fairly little bloatware (McAfee and that's my only complaint). BIG NOTE: The onboard drive slots ARE NOT NVME M.2. They are SSD SATA slots - shaped like M.2 but doesn't have a 2nd key on it. Keep this in mind before you buy any additional internal storage. Many great solutions out there to fill the 2nd SSD slot. This system was running FFXIV in a crowded setting on max desktop settings at ~40fps, and playing VR (beatsaber) with 0 problems I could identify. FANTASTIC laptop for the price. OC is possible but be cautious. Asus includes software to control lighting, power, fans etc and it does a pretty alright job. Down side - and reasoning in reduction in stars from 5 to 4 - few IO and no webcam. This would be the perfect stealthy gaming laptop if it had a few more USB 3.0 IO and a webcam.

Great gaming notebook
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Amazing battery life, performance is darn close to full tdp models. Well built by my standards, finger print reader is pretty nice too. Silent mode is actually silent. Honestly the best laptop if you want something that is good for work/school, has good battery life, and is good for gaming. Many people have reported problems with their models but just make sure you test yours out fully, and it should be fine. Can always return and get a new one. 10/10 amazing laptop!

Sexy beast of a laptop
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop is powerful and fast. The first one I bought from Amazon had it's 3080 stolen out of it. Then I got one from BestBuy and it was the something. This third one however, got to me with all it's pieces intact. It was worth the struggle and wait. This can run Microsoft Fight Simulator in VR on my Oculus Quest 2 wirelessly with good settings. It has run everygame I have thrown at it. I travel for work and I haven't ran the battery down yet, even on long flights. I'm guessing I get around 6 hours in silent mode. The fingerprint reader works for me fine. I wish the screen was a little brighter for outdoor viewing but is great anywhere indoors. Sound is very food. The USB ports are strong and can run my external monitor with no other power needed.

ASUS ROG Zephyrus G15 RTX3080 - Great buy
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very solid laptop. Built quality is very good. Keyboard is one of the best. Took me no time to adjust. The 144hz panel is wonderful. You almost instantly feel the difference when switching from a 60hz panel. Performance, well, you won't really have any trouble with gaming, even with high performance demanding titles. Although I tried to stream Dota2 on it, and i'm no expert, maybe I needed to tweak the settings or something, but while streaming, I was lagging hard, given Dota2 isn't the most performance hungry game, and having a Ryzen9 and rtx3080, I thought it should be no problem at all, but i'm not sure.. Definitely expected smooth streaming on this variant. The built in speakers are really great. The best part definitely is the battery on this thing. Gives you solid 4ish hours on simple browsing, movies etc. The fan noise does get loud on 'Performance setting', which isn't the highest ASUS preset for performance. There is a 'Turbo' setting which gives the max performance out of this machine, but it can get loud, and some parts of the keyboard do get hot. Don't wanna confuse you by the keyboard being hot as being really bad. Its just an observation. It's still fine to use, and it won't be untouchable hot, but something to note that it may affect some people. I suppose a nice headset can offset the fan noise factor, I wouldn't say its bad. Final thoughts: Great performance on this laptop. It looks very nice. Battery is great. Keyboard heating up may be an issue for some. For $2200 though, I expected a bit more finesse in these small areas I mentioned. Will definitely be using this machine for the coming 3ish years.

Top-tier gaming laptop for a budget price.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had never had a proper gaming laptop before this one, and it definitely surpassed my expectations in some areas. I was able to play almost any game at 60fps with maximum graphics settings, however my laptop overheated very easily. Since I have noise-cancelling headphones on most of the time the fans didn't disturb me much, but I had assumed that it would be quieter. The lack of integrated webcam is also annoying, but I purchased this laptop knowing this and therefore can't knock it for that. These are really my only complaints about this laptop, as it is easily on par with much more expensive gaming laptops, and has an incredible battery life when compared to its counterparts.

No complaints, no defects
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. No problems with mine. Goes to sleep maybe 20min after closing. Not a big deal seeing that the laptops battery life is fairly long. No webcam, which is nice (for those who don't want them). very solid laptop overall, not m.2 , great school laptop/gaming/others

||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had to return this product due to backlight bleeding and the screen being bent. Great but not perfect
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The hardware itself is great. However, plenty of problems on day one after turning it on. Many advanced power settings like "sleep wake timer", "turn off hard disk after".. etc were missing, had to manually add them in through registry editor. Laptop does not go to sleep after closing the lid, for now I have set it to hibernate after closing lid until ASUS makes a fix for it. I own a Zephyrus G14 with the 2060, it didnt give me nearly as much problems. Overall great device, I think this is the cheapest laptop with a 3080 in it on the market so far even if it is rated at 80W.

QC is a huge problem
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The quality control of this particular line of ROG laptop is really bad. I did not even use the laptop that I received as I noticed that the assembly is problematic right taking out of the box. The whole body of the machine squeaks whenever you push slightly on it. By slightly I mean the force needed to pick it up. If there is a proper SC process, this problem can be easily identified before going out of the factory.

I bought this for myself, I ended up hating myself
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First the fact that this is a HIGH END Gaming laptop, why on earth would you solder ram to the MB? Second WHY would you stick me with 3200 speed ram? these CPUs scream for 3600 CL12 or CL14 Ram for optimal performance. Second I have not ever own a laptop with so many bug, Be it windows fault or be it ASUS fault I don't care, its been out for a year. 1st I cant not run AAA titles at anything above 30-45fps even with this Q-max, second The specs listed on the website for the G15 or EVEN THE REVIEW MODLE GIVEN TO Youtubers and influences, ARE NOTHING like the modals being sold, Again is you look at a HQ076R, No, ROG backpack, ROG Delta headset, FHD 1080P@60FPS external camera, ROG Chakram Core mouse P511, TYPE-C, 100W AC Adapter. I didnt eve get the "ROG sculpture" that is mentioned in the product spec. Second all the review samples you send out to review had 2 Raided M.2 1tb - this one only has 1. And based on what I am seeing the m.2 drive you put into these is slower than the review samples. Then lets talk about Blue Screens and random GPU throttling and shutdowns. I've been tasking ASUS for a month now to view my logs as to why its dumping me to a C hibernation state when No sleep and not hibernation is set in the OS. Also the Bios is FAR worse than any ROG bios I have ever seen in my life. As someone that's been buying "gaming" laptops since Green ASUS was a thing. This will be the last ASUS device I buy if they dont turn this ship around.

Posted .Dear GodofROG,
We do understand your disappointment and the inconvenience if you are experiencing slow system speed or performance issue with the laptop.
The RAM being soldered doesn't compromise the speed and performance of the laptop. Additionally, the difference in hardware configuration between the laptop and the unit posted on reviewers websites is minimal as far as performance.
By keeping Windows, drivers and BIOS updated, system stability and performance will be at optimum state. If these steps were already performed to no avail, please try to run a diagnostics or optimization test using the "My ASUS" utility software or application. If this is not pre-installed on the laptop, please download the application at the Microsoft Store. For details on how to use "My ASUS", please go to: https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1041686/. Also, while accessing online games or web applications, please verify if the laptop has access to an established router and internet service is working properly since this will definitely affect system speed and performance.
If you need further assistance with the product, please email me at cl-rodel@asus.com and I would be happy to help. Or, you are most welcome to call Product Support Hotline at: 1(888) 678-3688. Also, you can chat with an ASUS live support agent at: http://bit.ly/AsusLiveChat.

Awesome laptop don’t be fooled by other reviews
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Absolutely amazing laptop it runs everything perfectly after updating all the drivers and getting a thermaltake cooling mat off Amazon I’m able to run any game max settings around 70 degrees Celsius I play everything from NFT blockchain games to Baldirs gate 3 and I’m going to play Star Atlas when it releases on unreal engine 5. I saw a lot of bad reviews and almost didn’t buy this until I read why the ratings were so bad due to cosmetic or shipping issues not anything really about cpu gpu or cooling. This laptop runs great don’t miss out for 2200 and a 3080 you can’t go wrong.

Failed after the first round of updates
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was setting it up and after installing my first video game it tried to do a BIOS/Keyboard/Nvidia update in the middle of the game, the laptop crashed and it couldn't recover from that. Tried to reset two times but was never able to boot up again, the one time I got into windows, the device manager detected an error with the GPU but couldn't repair it. I like the computer so i'm going to give it another shot with a new one hoping that I was just unlucky but I'm a bit worried given the other negative reviews as well
