Customers are saying

Customers regard the ROG Zephyrus G16's OLED display and performance as exceptional, frequently praising its build quality and relatively light weight for its power. However, some users express concerns about its tendency to overheat and the limited RAM. While the speakers and portability are also appreciated, the battery life and fan noise receive mixed reviews. The high price point is also a factor for some potential buyers.

(Picture is the Zephyrus g14 compared to the g16) I've previously owned several gaming laptops and I can confidently say that the Zephyrus g16 blows them all out of the water on nearly all fronts. The last gaming laptop I owned was an Alienware m17, and while it was a decent laptop, it suffered from a lot of the same negatives as most gaming laptops out there - it was big, it was bulky, and it had a terrible battery life. The Zephyrus fixes the majority of the problems I have with gaming laptops. It's thin and portable, and I've found myself actually using it as a portable laptop (shocker) rather than just sitting at my desk 24/7 like most bulky laptops. The battery life isn't at Macbook levels, but it still lasts many hours doing light tasks like watching YouTube. The aesthetic of the laptop is also a huge consideration - I was embarrassed using my previous Alienware laptop in public because of the blinding RGB lights and the "gamery" look. The Zephyrus is sleek enough to just look like a regular laptop while still being different enough from regular laptops to be unique. The fans certainly aren't silent, especially while playing games, but I've found that while doing light tasks the fans are barely audible. The screen is absolutely gorgeous, and I've found myself using it as my primary monitor even though I have a $400 external monitor that's twice the size. OLED is just incredible. It's unfortunately not all perfect though. The laptop gets HOT. The actual thermals inside aren't that bad for gaming laptops (actually pretty good considering how thin the thing is), but the exterior of the laptop gets absurdly hot to the touch after a little while... it's not a laptop you can use on your lap unless you want to burn yourself. I've also found that the screen is weirdly wobbly... it gets a little distracting while typing. Other than that though, I seriously recommend the laptop to anyone thinking about getting it. If you want the Windows equivalent of a Macbook, this is it.

For how compact, lightweight, and absolutely stunning the OLED screen is, this is MY perfect gaming laptop! Sure there are other 4070s or even some 4080 gaming laptops in this price range (without oled), but I am very happy with my purchase! The laptop is incredibly fast!!!! It turns on in literally seconds, its astonishing. The gaming performance is perfectly fine for me! I average 100+ fps on gta 5 with everything on ultra. Yes it gets hot but thats expected for so much power in such a compact chassis. I have an rgb $30 amazon cooling pad and that helps a lot! The laptop is just so beautiful and feels very premium. I absolutely cannot stop staring at the OLED screen. I got an absolute steal with open box excellent(thank you best buy!!) so I just cannot be happier! The customizable slash lighting on the back is just beautiful as well! Its not too flashy but an amazing touch! It would have been nicer to have more ram or the ability to upgrade it myself, but thats not a deal killer for what you get. 9 out of 10 I love this thing!

I needed to buy a gaming laptop as I'll be moving overseas soon and won't be bringing my desktop. I was between getting the Asus Zephyrus G16 and the Lenovo LEGION 7i (Intel i9, 4070, 32gb RAM). I had originally bought the Lenovo because I couldn't find the G16 in-stock. The day after I picked up the Lenovo, my local Best Buy restocked the G16 so I ended up grabbing it as well to compare both computers side by side. It wasn't even close. To be clear, both laptops are excellent and accel at gaming. However, The G16 had several differences that made it stand out. The G16's OLED display was a night vs day difference vs the Lenovo's. The OLED's vibrant colors made the Lenovo's 240Hz monitor appear dull (please note the 7i does come which different monitor options, but not an OLED as far as I know). It didn't stop there. The Lenovo's speakers were surprisingly thin with very little bass. Even by adjusting the audio settings in Nahimic I was unable to get the sound to the quality I wanted. I felt that my iPhone's speaker was actually better than the Lenovo's speakers, which was shocking since the Lenovo has Harmon Kardon speakers. The Lenovo also seemed to absolutely eat through battery. While setting up the Lenovo and performing basic tasks (downloading spotify, steam, etc), I watched the battery life decrease from 100% to 40-45% within an hour or so. I was able to improve this by switching the Lenovo's battery settings to a battery-saving mode. I've been spoiled by my Macbook Air so having a good screen, audio, and decent battery life is important to me. The G16 was an immediate difference. The audio is punchy, full-bodied, with detailed highs. The audio quality rivals or maybe surpasses my Macbook Air, and is essentially the best laptop audio I've ever heard. The aluminum body feels higher quality IMO and the laptop overall feels more premium. The thinness is also very nice. The G16's touchpad is huge as well and allows for more hand positions during use. While the Lenovo's specs are technically better (32gb vs 16gb ram, better i9, etc), the G16's user experience was the deciding factor for me. I do have some criticisms for the G16. The fans are more quick to active vs the Lenovo, and being unable to upgrade the 16gb of RAM in the G16 is a big downer. I primarily use the laptop for gaming and entertainment so this should not affect me too much but somebody who needs more RAM would need to purchase the more expense model of this laptop or consider another laptop such as the Lenovo, which has upgradeable RAM. I also felt that the Lenovo has superior key shortcuts, such as the FN key which revealed shortcuts via lighting upon pressing. The Lenovo also had a FN lock option which is missed in the G16. Overall, the G16 matched my needs and preferences and I ended up returning the Lenovo. I hope this review is helpful for anyone deciding between the two laptops.

The ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 is an incredible gaming laptop that excels in both performance and visual quality. Powered by an Intel Core i9 processor and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070, this machine delivers lightning-fast processing and exceptional graphics performance, making it perfect for gamers and creators alike. Stunning OLED Display with Speed to Match The 16-inch OLED display is a standout feature. The vibrant colors, deep blacks, and QHD resolution are stunning, offering a premium viewing experience. The 240Hz refresh rate ensures buttery-smooth visuals, which is critical for fast-paced gaming and a noticeable advantage in competitive scenarios. Compact, Sleek, and Versatile Design Despite its power, the Zephyrus G16 maintains a slim and lightweight form factor, making it an excellent option for gamers and professionals on the go. The Eclipse Gray finish gives it a clean, modern look that fits both work and play environments. Exceptional Performance and Thermals With 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and a 1TB SSD, this laptop can handle multitasking, large files, and modern AAA games effortlessly. The cooling system is efficient, ensuring the laptop stays cool even during long gaming sessions or intensive tasks. Ideal Pairing with External Monitors I use this laptop with a 4K monitor that supports 120Hz, and the results are phenomenal. The RTX 4070 GPU handles external display performance seamlessly, providing a superb dual-screen gaming and productivity setup. Room for Improvement While this laptop excels in nearly every aspect, the battery life could be better for such a high-performance machine. It’s manageable but something to consider if you need extended unplugged use. Additionally, while 16GB of RAM is sufficient for most users, professionals working with demanding software might want to consider an upgrade. Final Verdict The ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 strikes a perfect balance between power, portability, and display quality. Whether you’re gaming, creating, or multitasking, this laptop is more than capable of meeting your needs. Pairing it with the right monitor takes its versatility to the next level. Highly recommended for those who want cutting-edge performance and visuals in a portable package. This review combines your firsthand experience with the product and highlights its key features for potential buyers. Let me know if you’d like to refine it further!

Probably the best 16-inch gaming laptop

I had wanted to consolidate my desktop PC and laptop with something portable and powerful, and the 2024 ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 was a no-brainer. Probably the best screen and audio system on a laptop right now, excellent performance (relatively, the mobile 4070 is about the same as a desktop RTX 4060 which is plenty for 1440p gaming once DLSS is enabled), and most importantly, it's thin and light! There are two issues that hold it back a bit, but neither are dealbreakers. The first is battery life; expect 6 to 8 hours, which is totally serviceable for getting through a day of work, and you can always charge the G16 through a USB-C port instead of the larger proprietary charger it comes with. It's just a tad disappointing given that the smaller G14 gets over 12 hours on a charge. The second issue is heat. The cooler does an admirable job and the fan noise isn't super noticeable using the Performance preset, but does get loud if you turn it all the way up. Unfortunately the strip of chassis above the keyboard gets hot. Like, scalding to the touch. You won't ever be touching that part of the laptop, but it makes me think that you should never game with the screen closed because the heat can degrade the OLED panel faster. Still, these are minor gripes. I picked up the 4070 model for $1,400 on sale, which is just insane given the performance. if you see it for that cheap and you're on the fence, buy it!

*Take my review with a grain of salt because I bought the open box version in excellent condition* Pros of the Laptop: Screen: The screen is perfect for productivity and for games. 250HZ + oled looks beautiful and I've found myself watching all my content on my laptop instead of phone. Portability: The laptop is incredibly light and it has a very minimalistic exterior so it's very easy to carry it anywhere. Cons: Overheating: because of itslight weight, there is big problems with overheating. Even when I disable the GPU and put the fans on silent, it steals get hot and the fans spin when I'm just browsing the web with a couple tabs open. Battery life: I have 97% battery health and even when I charge it to 100% and use the most efficient savings I can only get around 4:30 minutes. This is a far cry form the 10 hours Asus say's it's capable of and I was extremely disappointed . Get this laptop if you are fine with carrying a charger anywhere and don't intend to play extremely intensive games.

So let me start by saying something good about this laptop. This laptop is very portable and lightweight. And that's all the good I have to say about it. Now, let's talk about performance. When I first took it out, the box and my eye lit up like a kid on Christmas, I thought to myself that this would be the best laptop I ever had. But boy, was I wrong. On the first boot to the start of Windows, it took about 25 to 30 minutes to set up. Doing the whole setup period, the fan roared loud as a hungry lion chasing a pack of zebras. Not to mention, the heat coming out of the bottom felt like I was in the middle of the Sahara desert. Well, at least my lap did. Ok, so I figured if I got a laptop cooling fan, I'd be ok. The first thing I always do when I get a new computer is download my security software. And this is where things start to go left. I noticed that when I opened the web browser, it was really slow compared to my old laptop. So, I decided to check for updates and proceed to download. So, after an hour or so, everything was up to date and ready to be tested. The results were failure. I have fiber internet, so normally it's pretty fast. I began to do speed test after speed test. The results were the same each time, slow. Needless to say, i returned the gaming turtle.

This laptop is a beast. Very powerful. I did have to delete all the drivers and reinstall them to get it to not stutter while gaming but since then it’s been an amazing laptop. Battery life isn’t great but that’s to be expected with a gaming laptop this thin. The display is unbelievably good!

To get this level of performance from such a lightweight, highly appealing device I could not imagine a better laptop for this price range! OLED screen is remarkable and HDR functionality has every game I’m playing looking as good as ever! The 4070 has been working great at the native resolution and I can say that every title I have thrown at it, it’s producing fantastic results! I hope Asus sticks with this model and I will look to only upgrade to another when the time comes! 10/10!

When I try to register laptop for 'Register your new ASUS laptop to receive 1 year of complimentary Accidental Damage Protection (ADP)!', I noticed 'Units purchased from Best Buy USA do not qualify for ADP and APC.'. Will Best Buy provide this complimentary ADP? You have to pay for that. I don't know what is going between Best Buy & ASUS. What about laptop? Good: - Thin (I love it) - Fair audio - Nice Keys Bad (Non-Gaming) mode: - Very Hot Even when you browser internet - Loud fan noise - Screen turns off & on when you plug or unplug power - Screen soooo bright even at low brightness level

As a current college student and at home gamer I can say that my experience with the laptop has been truly fascinating. When unboxing it felt like I wasn’t just unboxing a product but instead I was unboxing the future and luxury of technology. Everything about this laptop is 10 times better than my old gaming tower that is an iBUYPOWER Gaming Desktop PB-BB972-RB Intel Core i7-9700F 16GB DDR4 1TB HDD 480GB SSD GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER Windows 10 Home 64-bit that I also bought at my local Best Buy. Here is my experience on the pros and cons about the Asus ROG Zephyrus G16. Pros: What Makes the Zephyrus G16 Stand Out 1. Stunning OLED Display The 16-inch QHD+ OLED panel with a 240Hz refresh rate delivers exceptional visuals. It boasts full DCI-P3 and Adobe RGB color coverage, a peak brightness of around 436 nits, and G-SYNC support. The minute that I turned on the laptop the brightness, color definition, and refresh rate was too good to be true. It instantly made me realize on how much I was missing out on gaming at ultra high definition with high refresh rates. While watching my favorite movies and streaming services at the best highest image quality it made me stop using my parents Samsung 65" Class RU8000 Premium Smart 4K UHD TV (2019) that they also bought at Best Buy due to its impressive OLED screen . The laptops display is truly fascinating in which the ultra clear display feels like I’m experiencing everything in real life. 2. Powerful Performance Equipped with the Intel Core Ultra 9 processor and NVIDIA RTX 4070 GPU, the G16 handles demanding games and multitasking with ease. The system maintains high processor frequencies and power limits during heavy stress, ensuring smooth performance. While gaming on this pc I can say that this thing is a pure beast. From my experience It can handle the games on the Xbox game pass at ease. The only problem is that to use the maximum performance that the laptop unleashes you need to use the charger plugged into the laptop. 3. Premium Build and Portability Despite its powerful internals, the G16 remains sleek and lightweight, weighing approximately 1.85 kg or 4.079 lbs. Its solid metal construction exudes durability, and the compact design enhances portability. I’ve been using this laptop for college and this thing weighs less than my notebooks. Honestly from the unboxing I thought this laptop would weigh a ton but I was wrong. When you hold it this thing weighs like nothing. The weight distribution in this thing is truly impressive. 4. Excellent Audio Quality The laptop features a robust speaker system with two tweeters and two woofers, delivering immersive sound with surprising depth and bass, enhancing the gaming and multimedia experience. I tested the sound on this thing and trust me it sounds better than most cars and home stereo sound systems. The audio feels like you are experiencing something rather than just hearing. 5. Comprehensive Connectivity The G16 offers a versatile selection of ports, including Thunderbolt 4, HDMI 2.1, USB-C with Power Delivery, and Wi-Fi 6E, catering to various connectivity needs. The only problem I have experienced is the lack of having an Ethernet port connection. I had to buy a usb to ethernet adapter to get faster internet speeds due to my homes WiFi wireless speeds. ⸻ ⚠️ Cons: Areas for Improvement 1. Thermal Management Concerns Under heavy loads, the CPU and GPU temperatures can reach up to 95°C and 100°C, respectively. This heat can be noticeable around the keyboard area, potentially affecting comfort during extended gaming sessions. This is true because it actually overheats very fast so I warn you to place the computer on a table or desk and not on top of your legs since it can technically burn you. Not joking … 2. Limited RAM Upgradeability The 16GB LPDDR5X RAM is soldered onto the motherboard, preventing future upgrades. This limitation could be a drawback for users who require more memory for intensive tasks. If you’re like me and use this laptop for casual gaming and school assignments you should be more than fine. 3. Battery Life Underwhelms During Gaming While the laptop can last up to 9 hours during light tasks, battery life drops significantly during gaming, often requiring the device to be plugged in for optimal performance. The battery drops and plug in performance is true but I would say that the battery by itself doesn’t last up to 9 hours. I would say that it lasts like a good 2 hours and 30 minutes of constant usage. 4. Fan Noise Under Load The cooling fans can become quite loud during intensive tasks, reaching noise levels that might be distracting in quiet environments. This is true however they are different modes in which you can control the fan noise for personal preference. 5. Software Optimization Issues Some users have reported software conflicts between Windows power management and the Armoury Crate utility, leading to inconsistent performance and occasional bugs. For me I haven’t had an issue in these aspects but instead I did have a terrible issue with a windows code 0xc0000225 in which I couldn’t access my laptop and I tried fixing it but nothing worked. I didn’t use my laptop for like 2 good days and it magically fixed it. I don’t know how but it started working normally after like if nothing ever happened. ⸻ Final Conclusion: The ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 (2024) is a great choice for gamers, students, and professionals seeking a blend of performance, portability, and visual excellence. Its vibrant OLED display, robust build, and powerful internals make it stand out in the crowded gaming laptop market. However, potential buyers should be aware of its thermal limitations, non-upgradable RAM, and shorter battery life during gaming sessions. If these factors align with your usage patterns, the G16 offers a premium experience that justifies its price point.

I had this and the G14 2024, keeping this one, Only down side is 16GB soldered ram,but I refuse to pay $1000 more, wish there was 4070 model in US with 32GB Ram. Decent power usage on batter, ~12 watts wathcing videos. Plus I can have 2 SSD's. Was able to pull ~115 watts from 4070 in TimeSpy score ~12400. Not too bad for 4070. Fan were not any louder than the G14. OLED awesome!!

I’m really happy with my ASUS Zephyrus ROG G16! The performance is top-notch, the display is sharp and smooth, and it handles games perfectly without overheating. The build quality feels premium, and the keyboard is super comfortable. Great laptop for both gaming and work! Highly recommend!

I picked up the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 during a last-minute Best Buy sale, and I couldn’t be happier with the value. This laptop is a beast—powered by the Intel Core Ultra 9 and RTX 4070, it runs every game I’ve thrown at it flawlessly. Whether it’s high-end gaming or creative software, it handles it all with ease. The 16" OLED 240Hz display is absolutely stunning—super sharp, smooth, and vibrant. It's also surprisingly lightweight and portable for a gaming laptop, which makes it perfect for school, work, and travel. Great for productivity as well as play. I really appreciate the security features too, like fast facial recognition login. It adds both convenience and peace of mind. Cons: It runs hot under heavy load—definitely recommend a cooling pad if you game or render often. It looks so good, people might try to steal it—seriously, keep an eye on it! All in all, one of the best laptops I’ve ever used. Powerful, sleek, and versatile—a fantastic choice if you can catch it on sale!

I bought this exact laptop from best buy for 1599. Next day I went to bb to buy a chill pad and noticed the price hike to 1999. Unbelievable and it wasn't on sale when I bought it. This laptop is extremely hot. It does run games very well. I didn't realize the lid had a slash light on the lid. Very irritating to say the least. Would I buy it again? No.

    My first gaming laptop

This is my first ever gaming laptop. I’ve heard a lot of good reviews about this one after my long-time gamer bf picked it out for me. Nobody else seems to have an issue with their, but mine overheats extremely badly and very quickly (under 2 hrs). We’re thinking there may have been some sort of internal error during production. Other than that, it has a gorgeous display, the audio is incredible, the keyboard feels amazing to type on, and it is super sleek and slender. It also has a neat pulse pattern that happens with the keyboard backlights and the light on the cover. The way the keyboard pulses when it’s in sleep mode reminds me of Godzilla when he does that sick threat display in King of the Monsters! And for anyone who hasn’t seen that, it also reminds me of a slow heartbeat. It’s a lovely system that runs great with the exception of how strikingly hot it gets.

It’s an amazing laptop with premium feel and build, the only things that sucks is the ventilation! The fans are kinda loud and i didnt even run any games on it yet! And then it heats up pretty quick since the vents are on the bottom flat and there is very minimal raise so forget about trying to use it in bed. and prolly have to keep it raised somehow. fans are good tho once it does it’s job, it cools the laptop well but couldve placed it better.

Surprised by battery life from formerMac User

As someone who switched over due to my EE major requiring windows software, I can say my expectations on battery life and heat were pretty low. Can say I was quite surprised as I can go a couple hours at school without having to be worried about plugging in. Not to the extent of my old M1 MacBook but 100% has a better battery life than I expected. The heat wasn’t as much of an issue as I expected either, with fans that go through some of the keys you don’t notice any rises in temperature which is surprising given the raw performance this thing has. Can’t speak on the gaming performance but as a productivity machine, gotta love the thin durable design, raw performance and pretty ok battery life. The screen itself was a life changer too coming from the 2020 M1 models LCD display
