Best Buy is the best place to buy all electronics as a student. I got my laptop there at a good price. Honestly I don’t know how do it but run discounts on almost all their electronics. They are also quality and affordable.

Amazing laptop, super high quality. Only complain would be that it seems to be on the heavier side (but that's the price of quality I guess, & my previous laptop was an inch smaller so that could be part of it)

Ultra 7 155h vs Ultra 7 185h models both winners

I already owned the Ultra 7 155h version of this laptop and I posted a 5 star review for it here on Best Buy. It is my absolute favorite daily "jack of all trades" laptop in that it does everything well enough to cover all my needs. Unfortunately my wife borrowed it for a few days and it is now her favorite laptop for Teams, Office, World of Warcraft, email and browsing. I was lucky enough to pick up the upgraded version of the same model and it is again my favorite daily use laptop just with a bit more power, storage and memory so we now both use identical laptops for day to day use. I personally use it for dev work, World of Warcraft, along with a pretty beefy Steam games collection. It also works great for my raspberry pi and robotics projects. The RTX 3050 with the 1080p 60hz OLED display is just enough to handle any game as long as you temper your settings expectations. This is not a gaming laptop but instead a laptop that can also game. I've had no problems playing games on it at all with medium type settings or lower. My daily games are Fallout 76 and World of Warcraft and they are just fine. Being an OLED display, it is very pleasing visually. The MyAsus control app has mechanisms in place to combat OLED burn in along with common sense usage. Just like with the Ultra 7 155h model, I must commend Asus on their fan noise and control options. Having compared both of these models against several other laptops I own, these have some of the best noise levels I've ever experienced while gaming and under load. Everyone has their deal breaker criteria for laptops, and for myself it is outlandish and/or frequent fan noise even when doing minimal tasks. Asus handles this excellently. The keyboard is spaced well and backlit with a mini numeric pad included. I do happen to use a numeric pad for some work so the numeric pad is a welcome edition. It isn't the best keyboard I've used on a laptop, but it is far from the worse. Once I adapted to it, I was good to go. I really like the aesthetics of these laptops. No nonsense or out of place over the top RGB. They are sleek and nice. The MyAsus app (Asus version of Armory Crate for professional laptops) is extensive and handles everything you need including updates and custom settings. I also like their update function that keeps all drivers current along with the newest BIOS which when updating will install upon reboot and is automated. You can actually set the Vivobooks to extract more performance with Performance and Full modes in the MyAsus app. These do require AC power though to use. I found both add a touch more performance GPU wise but CPU performance was the same regardless of the mode set. I generally found it wasn't worth it for the added heat and fan noise. Standard mode worked the best in all situations. So how does the Ultra 9 185h version compare to my previous Ultra 7 155h version? The Ultra 9 185h version of the Asus Vivobook is visually identical to the Ultra 7 155h model except for a sticker on the palm rest that says "Ultra 9" vs "Ultra 7" on the 155h model. The Intel Ultra 9 CPU is identical to the Intel Ultra 7 CPU except it is clocked a bit higher. You also get a 2TB SSD vs a 1TB SSD and 24GB of memory vs 16GB. They both use the same 200w Asus compact adapter. Comparing them head to head, you end up with a CPU that is slightly faster with the Ultra 7 155h scoring ~17650 for multi and ~1724 for single in Cinebench R23 while the Ultra 9 185h clocks in at ~19072 for multi and ~1872 for single. It isn't an earth shattering difference but it is there if you want the absolute best performance. Either model will handle the bulk of tasks with ease. Since the GPU's are identical GTX 3060 6Gb configs, you end up with basically the same TimeSpy scores of ~5700-5800 with the GPU scoring right around ~5310. If you enable performance mode, you can push the overall score to ~6100 and the GPU score increasing to ~5630 but the fans do get louder and the performance gains are minimal The Ultra 9 nets a CPU score of ~11700 versus the Ultra 7's 11131 in Timespy CPU. Both memory and SSD benchmarks are about the same but the 2x SSD storage and 50% more memory is nice to have especially with my games collection. I was also able to offload all my project files and entire Steam collection along with World of Warcraft to the 2TB SSD which I could not do with the 1TB model. My original complaints which were few still stand here. Having all the I/O and connectors on the right side can be troublesome if you use your mouse on the right side which is the majority of users. While I'm a lefty, I do use my mouse right handed. The keyboard could use just a touch more travel. It isn't a deal breaker, but would be nice. In the end, this is a great all around task contender of a laptop. If you're looking for the best version of this particular RTX 3050 model CPU wise along with more storage and memory, it is well worth the price bump of ~$200 over the Ultra 7 155h version. My original review of 5 stars is again 5 stars. I just feel like Asus is firing on all cylinders here delivering the perfect balance of compromise to allow you to do anything with this laptop within reason in a compact enough form factor that is aesthetically pleasing, ergonomically compelling and above average quiet fan noise when under load.

    Desktop Equivalent Speed & Ports

The Asus Vivobook Pro 15 (Q543M) is an excellent “Jack of All Trades” laptop – in a good way. It’s a “desktop equivalent” laptop perfect for dabblers who want portable speed & power for hobby video or photo editing + general business apps. But it is not purpose built for multi-media editing. Based on my use after a few days it’s a solid 4-stars. Only it’s 1080p, 60Hz screen holds it down. It’s plenty bright, sharp, and colorful, but HD isn’t enough for serious photo editing, and video editing needs not only higher resolution but a faster refresh rate. Of course, if you want to connect an external monitor, this laptop has the internal chops as a daily driver for high megapixel photo and 4K video editing. As a “desktop equivalent,” it has the power to do almost anything, in reason, you ask of it. But because it does pack a punch, when on battery performance drops back to that of a typical “general business” laptop. – good performance still, just not its max Superman strength. So, a happy owner here is one who plans on usually keep it plugged in but wants portability for going room to room or home to office. This isn’t an “outdoor café” laptop. To illustrate, I ran Geekbench 6 several times, on and off battery. The results were similar each time; plugged in, single-core scores in the mid 2000s and on-battery, single core score in the mid 1000s. Below I’ll go over the details of this model, with commentary, having used this Vivobook Pro 15 now for several days. In my mind all true “desktop equivalent” laptop share three assets: 1. A top line CPU 2. A faster than average dedicated GPU 3. A full set of i/o ports. INTERNAL GUTS AND I/O PORTS This Vivobook has all of these elements plus both its RAM and SSD are easily upgradable making it maximum “future proof.” Out of the box though, it’s well stocked so the need to upgrade is in the distance. It has an ample 24 GB RAM, 8GB onboard plus a removable 16GB DDR5 SODIMM. There’s also a roomy, and respectably quick, M.2 2TB (WD SN740) SSD. Even the Wi-Fi/Bluetooth card looks upgradable, though I can’t confirm, yet. I will certainly try when Wi-Fi 7 becomes more ubiquitous. Until then the installed Wi-Fi 6E is what one would expect here. This model has a top tier Intel Core Ultra i9 185H processor so even the most CPU intensive apps are a joy to use – laptop plugged in, of course. The discrete Nvidia 3040 GPU is not the latest and greatest, but no slouch either, quite capable with apps like Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom, and even 3D gaming is enjoyable as a casual player. Asus didn’t pull any punches with the ports here either. This Vivobook has at least one of every kind in use today – not something you find on most laptops anymore. Since using it, not once have I had to hunt for an adapter. Imagine traveling dongle-free. Left side – - USB-A (5Gbps) - SD reader (inserted card is not flush with case). Right side – - 1 USB-C (10Gbps) - 1 USB-C Thunderbolt4/USB4 (40Gpbs) - (both USB-C ports support power delivery and displayport). - USB-A (5 Gbps) - Full size HDMI 2.1 - Gigabit ethernet (jaw style) - Headphone/mic jack - Barrel DC-in for the power supply. One quibble here though, I do wish one of the two Power-Delivery capable USB-C ports was on the left side so charging and power was available on either side. It’s a pet peeve of mine that manufacturers tend to put all the ports on one side. It’s lazy design. I say this because there are a few that even the sides out, so it’s not technically impossible. CASE BUILD QUALITY AND SCREEN The Vivobook’s case is “OK” feeling, somewhere between “premium” and “budget-y,” which is exactly what this laptop is – upper mid-level. The lid is aluminum with the rest of the case high-end plastic. It’s quite slim considering its full array of ports. It has a comfortable heft and good in-hand feel, obviously not as nice as an all-metal case, but, realistically, that’s one tier up. The main fan vents are on the left side. I have not heard the fans kick on much – mostly a barely audible whisper to light white noise. The exception being at the start of applying updates when it went full bore for a couple minutes. At full speed the noise is unbearable, but, in my use so far that’s a rare event. Using only my touch, this laptop seems to maintain reasonable temperatures. Parts of the bottom get a comfortable warm but never hot. The Harmon/Kardon speakers are located at the bottom along with some additional venting and significantly sized feet. Even though these vents are passive blocking I don’t think blocking them with my lap over a long period is wise. The speaker system is Dolby Atmos certified and has an above average sound and loudness for a laptop when placed on a hard surface. This laptop opens futz-free (recommend disabling the lock screen after login). With Windows Hello and the 5MP IR camera you can One hand the lid open and get to work without further nag screens. Using a PIN for login is also an option. And if you prefer the camera not be “always ready” there is a built-in slide shield to physically block the lens. As already mentioned, the 15.6” OLED display itself is the weakest part of the system, in my mind, but by no means a deal-killer for the intended user. It is a bright, gorgeous and color accurate display with 99% P3 color gamut, but it’s only HD, not 2K or better, something necessary when editing video, and really high-resolution photos too, and certainly when playing triple-A games. With 600 nits, I’ve yet to find a place, inside or outside, where the screen looked dim. That said, it is extremely glossy and is prone to show reflections. It’s somewhat of a distraction but easily managed since the screen’s hinge can swing 180 degrees. Despite this flexibility, the screen is not touch sensitive or stand like a tent. Also of note, the screen’s aspect ratio is 16:9 like TVs rather than the 16:10 aspect ratio laptop displays typically have. On the plus side, you can watch a 16:9 movie full screen, no letterbox. The minus, of course, is less screen real estate for office apps and web browsing. The aforementioned 5MP HD front camera offers good video quality and offers the standard Windows 11 background blur, auto-framing, and eye contact options. KEYBOARD, TRACKPAD, ASUS DIALPAD Moving downwards, the keyboard with its slim number pad is a mixed blessing, but a gift nonetheless. It’s minor, but what I’m not a fan of here is how this configuration puts me off center with the screen when I’m in proper typing configuration. I did get acclimated to it though. You can turn the number pad off via the “num lock” key to prevent accidental typing. To my fingers the keys feel “above average” with a moderate travel feel, not to shallow, not too deep. I would prefer a bit more feedback but it’s definitely not mushy. I’ve typed a few documents so far and what is most notable to me is how hollow the keys. This aligns with the whole case being in between premium and budget. Naturally at this price point it’s backlit with three available brightness levels plus “off.” There is hardly any light leakage rising from the below the keys and what little there is gives the keys visual definition and modern look. The mechanical trackpad is luxuriously large – 5.75” diagonal by my ruler, comfortable room for triple and quad finger gestures and moving the cursor the distance of the screen. It has a confident, tactile feel and audible click to it. A “bonus” included with the trackpad is the embedded “Asus Dialpad” outline. It’s a virtual dial that you can configure to do specific tasks in Windows or other apps, quickly. For example, in PowerPoint or Adobe Lightroom, tap the center to select a function like scroll, and then use the dial to quickly roll through your slides or photo thumbnails. I use a physical dial for video editing, and it’s a huge time saver. I can’t say the same here. Being virtual kills any convenience because you have to “find the dial (it’s hard to see on the trackpad), then do taps – hope those are correct, etc. It’s a very different experience with a tactile physical wheel. So, I would say this is an interesting differentiator but it’s also not a reason to buy this laptop over another. BATTERY LIFE AND CHARGING The max computing power of the Vivobook Pro 15 needs a beefy battery, and Asus has supplied one – 70Whrs. In my use so far, battery life is consistent with Asus’s claims. With brightness set at 60-70% I get about 10 hours of light CPU duty work (Office 365, web, etc.) and a few less with heavier loads on the CPU/GPU, such as Photoshop and Lightroom. These are slight extrapolations as I never let my battery go below 30%, so I’m assuming consistency here. Supplied is a 200w barrel style brick charger plus a removable power cable. Unfortunately, the barrel cable end is non-removable, making packing it a bit awkward. Additionally, it weighs a hair over 1lb, which isn’t travel friendly either. SUMMARY I’d end as I started. This laptop is a great candidate for you IF 1. Intended use is not mainly to edit high resolution photos or videos ** using the laptop’s display. ** However, if you’ll be plugging in an external editing quality display instead, it’s a top option and plenty powerful for this task. 2. You intend to use it mostly at a desk, plugged in. This is the only way in my tests that it’s full speed can be harnessed. On battery power it’s no faster than an average business laptop.

I work on computers all day at a desk with two extra-large monitors on a desktop. I might switch to using this powerhouse for work! I use my laptop in the living room for 'catching' up on things and doing personal stuff. I have really enjoyed my ASUS laptops in the past, but this one is truly a delight. The first thing I noticed was how little this laptop weighed and how thin the screen was. The laptop powered up and getting updates installed took only a few minutes. Then I put the laptop through its paces. there are tons of great items! First, staying connected. Of course it's got wifi and bluetooth, but it also has an actual HDMI socket! Perfect for when I want to connect to a large computer screen or to my big television and I don't have to scramble for the USB to HDMI converter. I have a slot for SC cards, USB-A and USB-C and even hardwired internet. I really like having all of these connection points. Now let's talk about the heart of the machine. Intel Core 9 with 24 GB of Memory allows you to do some serious gaming, creating and data crunching. With a 2 TB SSD hard drive, no worries about running out of room to save things. I crunch a lot of databases and have not been able to lock this computer up, nor slow it down. Now, the creature comforts. The screen is absolutely fabulous. The colors are vibrant and not muddy or pixilated in any way. The sound is Dolby.. yeah, really nice. The keyboard is the big winner with a narrow number keypad on the right. I do a lot of bookkeeping and data so having a number pad on a mid-size laptop is marvelous, and once again, includes a function I need without my having to attach external devices! I do wish that the num lock and caps lock keys had little lights to show they were on, but that's a minor item. Now what's really different to me is the ASUS Dial. I will tell you that it is not intuitive to turn it on or use it. Watched a few videos and read official ASUS guidance. Let me shorten the curve for you. To turn it on, slide your finger from the northeast corner where is says "on/off" down towards the southwest corner. The Light comes on! then you can use the dial to get quickly to whatever you want to put on there, from brightness to volume, zoom level, cycling through browser tabs, etc. For some reason, this was hard for me to master. I really think it would be wise to include a 'quick start' sheet for the ASUS Dial. This is my only less that delighted part of the computer. I am sure I will come to love the ASUS Dial, but was surprised I had to find help outside of ASUS just to turn the dial on. Overall, this gem should work well for most people.

I recently got my hands on the ASUS Vivobook Pro 15 OLED, and I have to say, it’s been an impressive Laptop. With an Intel Core Ultra 9 CPU, an NVIDIA RTX3050 GPU with 6GB of VRAM, 24GB of RAM, and a massive 2TB of Storage, this laptop packs quite a punch. The Intel Core Ultra 9 proved to be a beast. This processor handled everything I threw at it with ease. Whether I was multitasking with multiple applications open, editing videos, or some light gaming, the laptop performed without a hitch. The multithreading capability is particularly impressive, allowing me to run several demanding programs simultaneously without any lag. The high clock speeds kept everything running smoothly, and I never noticed any significant slowdown, even during intensive tasks. Having a dedicated GPU in the NVIDIA RTX3050 is a nice addition to this laptop, But wish they would have gone with a 40 series one since those are the new models. As someone who enjoys gaming and dabbles in graphic design and video editing, I found the GPU more than adequate. I played several modern games at low to medium settings while using DLSS, and the performance was consistently smooth. The DLSS technology helped maintain good frame rates without sacrificing visual quality. For creative applications, the GPU accelerated rendering tasks significantly, making my workflow more efficient. The 15.6-inch OLED 60Hz display on the Vivobook Pro 15 is nothing short of spectacular. The 1080p resolution might seem modest in an era of 4K screens, but the quality of this OLED panel more than makes up for it. The colors are incredibly vibrant, and the contrast is phenomenal, offering deep blacks and bright whites. This made watching movies and editing photos a visually immersive experience. However, I did find the 60Hz refresh rate to be a bit of a letdown, especially when gaming. While it’s perfectly fine for most tasks, gamers who are used to higher refresh rates might find this limiting. Fast-paced games didn’t feel as smooth as they would on a 120Hz or 144Hz display, but for general use and content consumption, the screen is fantastic. The design of the ASUS Vivobook Pro 15 is sleek and modern. It has a solid build quality, and the laptop feels durable and premium, that being said it is a fingerprint magnet. At approximately 14.1 x 9.26 x 0.7 inches and weighing around 4.19 pounds, it’s relatively portable for a 15-inch laptop. I found it easy to carry around, whether I was moving between rooms or commuting. The keyboard is comfortable for typing, with good key travel, responsiveness, along with a num pad which I love for. The touchpad is large and accurate, making navigation a breeze with good palm detection. This touchpad has a little circle indent that allows you to utilize ASUS’s Dial and control software. This can be turned on by sliding from the top right corner. This is a cool feature that allows for some quick Macros depending on the app you are using, such as changing volume, brightness, or switching between apps. There’s also a decent selection of ports, including USB-A, USB-C, HDMI 2.1, Thunderbolt, RJ-45 jack and an SD card reader, which covered most of my connectivity needs. With 24GB of RAM, multitasking is a breeze. I never had to worry about running out of memory, even with numerous tabs and applications open. Though they went with a weird configuration with 8GB solder to the MOB and only one Slot of 16GB RAM. The 2TB SSD is not only spacious but also incredibly fast. Boot times are minimal, and applications load almost instantly. There is also an additional M.2 slot for more storage if needed. This combination of ample memory and storage makes the laptop a powerhouse for both productivity and entertainment. Pros: Powerful CPU: The Intel Core Ultra 9 handles demanding tasks effortlessly. Stunning Display: The OLED screen offers amazing color accuracy and contrast. Ample Memory and Storage: 24GB of RAM and a 2TB SSD provide plenty of space and speed. Portable Design: Sleek, lightweight, and easy to carry. Cons: Screen resolution: Only 1080p and not 1440p or 4K. Refresh Rate: The 60Hz refresh rate may disappoint gamers seeking smoother gameplay. Not Plugged in - RTX 3050 will become unavailable and switch over to the discreet Intel ARM Overall, the ASUS Vivobook Pro 15 OLED has exceeded my expectations in many ways. Its performance, thanks to the Intel Core Ultra 9 and NVIDIA RTX3050, is top-notch for most tasks, and the OLED display is a visual treat. While the 1080p 60Hz refresh rate might not be ideal for hardcore gamers, it’s more than sufficient for general use and media consumption. The laptop’s design, build quality, and portability add to its appeal, making it a versatile and powerful machine. If you’re in the market for a high-performance laptop with an exceptional display, the Vivobook Pro 15 OLED is definitely worth considering.

Wow! This laptop is incredible. From the screen quality, ease of use of the keyboard to the blazing speed of the processor! It is just a great computer, no doubt about it. The specs on the Asus Vivobook Pro 15 OLED Laptop, are top notch. Starting with the screen, an OLED 15.6 inch with Dolby Vision. The colors are vibrant, and the blacks are infinite! Watching movies on the Vivobook Pro 15 are displayed stunningly! The NVIDIA GeForce graphics with 6GBs truly bring games to life with no video lag at all. Game characters and race cars move so smoothly that they look real and draw you into the game. The Harmon/Kardon sound for the laptop is very impressive though lacks bass. My recommendation would be to use Bluetooth headphones for a more robust sound experience. Memory is not an issue at all. Asus has us covered with 2TBs of SSD goodness and 24 GB of RAM! That’s three times the Windows 11 recommended and definitely helps to speed things along! To aid in speeding things up is the new Intel Core Ultra 9 Series 1, clocking in a whopping 2.3GH! This is Intel’s updated CPU architecture which is supposed to improve multi-tasking. It sure seems to, moving between applications and from web page to web page is so fast that I don’t see the pages change. As for ergonomics, the full-size keyboard is a welcome plus, especially with the separate number pad. The fully backlit keyboard is great for use in dimly lit areas. The touch pad includes an Asus feature called,” Dial Pad”. This is a very cool tool to get close for detailed work when using the touchpad. When I was editing pictures, the Dial pad made it easier to work on fine details. I have been using the Pro 15 for a week now and the battery seems to last forever! That’s a big plus for use on the run. As for the setup, the Pro15 comes with Windows 11 Home preinstalled and I was up and running within 15 minutes from start up to completed Window activation and updates. There are also the usual included applications that are preinstalled, as well as the Asus suit of support apps. Windows hello facial recognition is included and makes it so easy to login to the Pro 15. Included in the box are the laptop, power brick, (and I mean brick!) and power cord, and some warranty and start up documentation. As for connectivity, you have a CAT 6 socket, two USB-C and two USB-A ports, a Thunderbolt port an HDMI output and a Headphone/microphone jack. There is also a multi-use card reader as well. Asus really put some thought into what peripherals we may want on a high-end laptop. The only thing missing is a touch screen, but I don’t see a real need for one unless it is two-in-one. I have had many laptops over the years and the Asus Pro 15 seem to beat them all! It is a bit pricy but what you get is a well optioned laptop with excellent performance!

This laptop is way better than what I would have expected it to be. From the unboxing to the experience, it is stunning!! Unboxing is a friendly experience; the top lid opens and presents the laptop wrapped in white velvet and all the packaging materials are recyclable which is nice as I'm a big partner in conserving the community environment. The computer and the power brick are tucked nicely and well-protected during shipping. I value Asus for its smart packaging psychology. Upon touching the laptop, it felt premium, and the edges were well-made, nothing seemed cheap in my opinion, and was impressed by its slim design. It is a neat design and fits in my slim laptop back easily and snugly. Specification-wise, the computer is equipped with an Intel Core Ultra 9 processor with Neural Processing Unit (NPU) to deliver the best and smoothest performance across the board, NVIDIA RTX 3050 6GB GPU (including ray tracing), 24GB RAM DDR6, a 2TB internal SSD, and a stunning 15.6" OLED display (1920 x 1080 FHD) at 60Hz. I expected to experience a low picture quality, but OLED plays a vital role in producing an amazingly stunning and vivid picture. The only drawback here is the refresh rate is only 60Hz. Personally, it does not hold me back from gaming and multitasking as most of my games are capped at 60Hz which is still great, but it may make a difference to others who play 120Hz. However, the display quality is marvelous, I looked closely at the details in movies and games, and they feel alive and vivid. The front webcam is clear and supports Windows Hello, allowing for quick login to the PC, which is awesome. Additionally, having a camera privacy cover is a thoughtful feature. I have been using it almost all day at my work mainly for data analysis and the music was playing in the background. I can tell the performance was incredible and never had any lag or sudden freeze-up. Everything went smoothly and flawlessly. This laptop is versatile and can excel in every segment of use with no issue. The DialPad is not a big thing, as it is only designed to work with certain productivity apps but for music control was good and intuitive, however, I used the keyboard control to control music playback by human nature. It is great to have the TK pad as it is useful for crunching numbers and sounds handy. Asus offers a wide array of I/O ports, it includes 2 USB-A version 3.0, 2 USB-C 3.2, 1 x Thunderbolt 4, and 1 x HDMI 2.1. as well as a full-size SD card slot. I would say that Asus has made this laptop a comprehensive high-end experience, from the design to internal comments as well as the audio sound system, it is Dolby Atmos with Harman Kardon/noise canceling that makes it just impeccable and I was like WOW!!!!! A great laptop for everyday use whether for work, entertainment, or gaming, this laptop can handle any tasks and beyond flawlessly. This Asus Vivobook laptop is a blend of performance, display quality, and portability.

In my line of work, having the most recent advancements in technology and performance is crucial to optimizing my daily tasks. Whether it's a state-of-the-art camera, a Drone, or a cutting-edge laptop, my tools play an integral role in enhancing productivity and efficiency. In the realm of hybrid laptops, the Asus Vivobook Pro 15 OLED stands as a testament to the idea that power and performance can coexist without compromise. Its impressive specifications, including an Intel Core Ultra 9 processor, an OLED display, an NVIDIA RTX 3050 6GB GPU, 24GB of memory standard, and a 2TB internal SSD, make it a versatile workhorse capable of handling just about any task. And look amazing while doing it. Although the Asus Vivobook Pro is not marketed specifically for gaming, its capabilities are surprisingly robust. Across several demanding games, it effectively manages to run them on the highest graphics settings without any significant performance issues. I have personally played both Remnant II and Starfield on max settings and the Vivobook handled both with ease. Kudos to ASUS! For those seeking an affordable yet powerful laptop, the Asus Vivobook Pro 15 OLED should be at the top of your list. It's a rare combination of performance and affordability. In my opinion, it stands shoulder to shoulder with the fruit-book-pro, and for a much more reasonable entry price. The build quality is superb, as it is crafted from high strength aluminum. The keyboard not only feels great, but is also backlit and includes a 10 key as well. The trackpad is large and also features the new ASUS DialPad, which gives the user a host of features they can use in artistic programs. Let's delve deeper into the outstanding characteristics of this remarkable laptop. The Asus Vivobook Pro 15 OLED is powered by the Intel Core Ultra 9 processor, a powerhouse of a CPU that delivers lightning-fast performance. With its multiple cores and threads, it can seamlessly multitask, and effortlessly execute even the most resource-intensive software. Photo and Video editing, 3D rendering, and programming tasks are handled with astonishing efficiency, allowing users to focus on their creative pursuits without any lag or interruptions. As previously mentioned, the laptop exhibited exceptional gaming performance, rivaling that of dedicated gaming laptops. Always a bonus! The NVIDIA RTX 3050 GPU is both a video editor and gamer's dream. It boasts dedicated ray-tracing and Tensor cores, enabling breathtaking visuals and accelerated AI performance. Whether you're a video editor, a hardcore gamer, or a content creator, the RTX 3050 will elevate your experience to new heights. From playing the latest AAA titles at high settings to rendering intricate 3D scenes, and even 4K video editing, this GPU has got you covered. I find it practical for all of these purposes. As a professional photographer and videographer, having a capable remote laptop to facilitate tethering and video editing is highly advantageous. It also has a built-in full size SD card reader! With a whopping 24GB of memory standard, the Asus Vivobook Pro 15 OLED is a multitasking powerhouse. It allows users to run multiple applications simultaneously, keep countless tabs open in their browser, and work on memory-intensive projects without experiencing any slowdown. The 2TB internal SSD is a game-changer for users who demand fast storage and quick access to their files. With blazing-fast read and write speeds, the SSD ensures that applications load in an instant, and large files can be transferred in a matter of seconds. This significantly enhances productivity for those who regularly handle large file sizes, particularly video. To optimize performance in my video editing software, I exclusively dedicate the internal SSD to program storage. Additionally, I use external SSD drives as cache drives to enhance system efficiency. This pairing has consistently delivered a lag-free video editing experience for me, proving to be a reliable solution. There are just the right amount of ports on this computer for my personal needs. It includes 2 x USB-A 3.0, 2 x USB-C 3.2, 1 x Thunderbolt 4, and 1 x HDMI 2.1. Furthermore, this laptop is equipped with a full size SD card slot, which is an excellent feature for photography and video enthusiasts, as well as content creators. I've mentioned this before, but I find it worth emphasizing. Finally, the OLED screen deserves special attention, as its beauty is captivating and visually mesmerizing. The Asus Vivobook Pro 15 OLED features a stunning OLED screen that delivers exceptional visual quality. OLED (Organic Light-Emitting Diode) technology uses individual pixels that emit their own light, resulting in deep blacks, vibrant colors, and an incredibly high contrast ratio. The screen is also Pantone validated, ensuring accurate color reproduction for professional work. Photographers and Videographers rejoice! The Asus Vivobook Pro 15 OLED also elevates the movie-watching experience. The screen's deep blacks and vibrant colors bring images to life, creating a captivating visual feast. This stunning display is undoubtedly one of the standout features of the Asus Vivobook Pro 15 OLED, making it a top choice for those who value immersive entertainment. It delivers exceptional visual quality that is perfect for both work and play. Go to your local Best Buy to see it in person, as it is truly magnificent. In conclusion, the Asus Vivobook Pro 15 OLED is a well-rounded laptop that offers a perfect blend of power and performance. Its impressive specifications make it a reliable companion for professionals, gamers, and content creators alike. Whether you're working on demanding video projects, playing the latest games, watching a movie, or simply browsing the web, the Vivobook Pro 15 OLED will exceed your expectations. It truly is a versatile laptop that combines the best of both worlds, delivering a seamless user experience that is both productive and enjoyable.

ASUS - Vivobook Pro 15 OLED Laptop - Intel Core Ultra 9 - NVIDIA RTX3050 6GB with 24GB Memory - 2TB SSD This 2024 variation of an ASUS laptop is loaded with features that can serve the needs of students and professionals who need the absolute best mix of power, performance, and storage while also being price sensitive. What’s odd about this statements it suggests compromises are being made, but good luck finding them. This model has premier screen color accuracy and quality that OLED technology can deliver, cinematic multi-dimensional sound (Dolby Atmos) with top tier power from Intel’s Core Ultra 9 which supports advanced applications. The combination of OLED screen color depth and accuracy fits my needs editing images and video or live streaming. This immense and fast SSD storage capacity is far above the typical configuration which makes it easy to store and access the resulting creations. A full array of the fastest connectivity options ensure that I’m ready for all my work demands whether I’m in my office, at home or on the road. I achieved my fastest WIRELESS speeds to date using Wi-Fi with this ASUS Vivo laptop— 842Mbs,UP and 898Mbs,DOWN. I included a pic. Viewing media is outstanding, web browsing is great and intensive calculations and graphics management is smooth and fast. Meeting using built in camera are very sharp with good contrast and minimal grain. This is a truly no excuses, no limits computing tool. I simply have not had a more powerful and competent computer on my desk and the price is super competitive. I’ll address this again later, but the SETTINGs you choose upon setup will influence your opinions about screen quality, so I want to advise you up front, the ASUS will steal away some of the beautiful resolution and smoothness if you ask it to optimize battery life, for example. Notable Features: Screen 15.6” OLED, 1920x1080 HD, 60Hz refresh, 400 Nits brightness CPU Intel Core Ultra 9 Series 1 (Intel Meteor Lake), 185H, Clocked at 2.5GHz - boost 5.1GHz, 14 Core 24Gb Ram (GDDR6) Storage 2 TB (2000 GB) SSD PCIe (additional slot available) Graphics NVIDIA GeForce RT 3050, 6Gb Video Ram, Ray Tracing Ports: HDMI 2.1 (1), Thunderbolt (1), USB-A 3.0 (2), USB-C (2)(charging), Headphone/Microphone, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth Front Facing Camera 1080p, Facial Recognition, Built-in Mic Backlit Keyboard; Includes Numeric Keypad. Audio: Dolby Atmos/ Smart AMP/ Harman Kardon/noise cancelling 14”H x 9.26W x .79D; Weight 4.19lbs SETUP and PERFORMANCE: Getting the ASUS running, updated, and ready for work was the usual Windows 11 experience, although it seems bit quicker. Less bloatware? Windows getting out of the way so you get productive more quickly? Not sure. While I was plugged in for a few hours of charging I loaded in my media Apps, my preferred browsers and started getting down to work. I am impressed by the keyboard and trackpad which are comfortable and responsive while the integrated number pad is very convenient. The port array meant I didn’t need a single dongle to achieve any of these activities. Even an external monitor can be directly connected using the built-in HDMI. With a full charge on board, I unplugged and started my digital copy of Mad Max:Fury Road via my MoviesAnywhere App, because you haven’t seen this movie at its best until to play it on an OLED display. Wow. Well not immediately, wow.. I thought the screen was a bit “smeared” or soft. I tried the new Ghostbusters movie. Same. That made no sense so I opened up the settings and realized I had inadvertently undermined the video settings because I chose to optimize the battery in lieu of performance. I undid that error and, Whoa, everything got sharper and more detailed. I also turned on HDR and got brighter highlights. Mental note to self, optimization choices have consequences. Back to my movie. I explored different activities the next day. including some shopping, social media, finances and even some work. Let’s see just how portable this is, because I might need to travel, I’m often multi-tasking, and it’s not unusual for me to walk away from my computer while its still connected to a program active in the background. I don’t want to be surprised by an out-of-juice shutdown. And this first generation Ultra 9 processor is ideally suited for multitasking and emerging AI workloads. Depending on settings, the ASUS puts me in charge of what’s important to me. MY USE PROFILE is mostly plugged in. It makes little sense for me to optimize battery life and lose image excellence. So, I suspect my battery life will be lower than others might be. SUMMARY: I believe I finally have a computer that allows me to expand my photo and video editing along with my other interests. The Asus Vivo should be especially desirable for students, professionals in gaming or video editing, 3D modeling and computer science. I do not believe the computer would be cheered by dedicated Gamers because, although it has a discrete Nvidia video card, this RT3050 is not optimized for the unique needs of gamers, which often features high frame rates. And while it is not optimized for gamers, it will allow you to play the most modern and demanding of games, just not always at their highest frame rates. It does easily support that broad range of programs in the creative arts, with Adobe or Corel products immediately coming to mind. The ASUS DialPad subtly integrated into the upper left of the track pad offers an intriguing way to customize interactions with various feature settings in programs that support it. ASUS provides a list of those programs. This ASUS Vivobook Pro 15 OLED Laptop is a very flexible, powerful, and feature-rich computer I’m completely enjoying, I think it would meet the needs of a significant number of end users.

If all you need a laptop for is basic office or home work, browsing, emails, etc., then the ASUS - Vivobook Pro 15 will definitely be overkill for you. I’ll refer to it as the Asus Pro 15 for short, but this laptop is for people with much higher demands than everyday tasks. You’ll pay for it, but it’s not unreasonable for what you get. The Asus Pro 15’s Intel Core Ultra 9 processor is higher-end. Good for gaming, heavy photo editing, and also video editing. Having 24 gigs of the latest RAM adds to the laptop’s speed and ability to multitask, and an added NVIDIA RTX 3050 video processor gives you 6 gigs of separate and additional video RAM for your projects and games. Having 2 terabytes of SSD storage, well above average compared to many other laptops, gives you plenty of room for your saved games, projects, videos, and more. The 15 inch screen caps out at 1080p resolution (it could/should be higher in my opinion), but it is an OLED display, and details are still sharp and the colors including blacks are deep. My case is an “Earl Gray” (dark gray), but looks black-ish to me. It has a nice matte feel to it, but does accumulate fingerprints easily. You of course want to download any updates to the computer during setup. Once done, I did all basics you’d do with one, and the Asus Pro 15 didn’t have any issues at all. I progressed to some heavier photo editing and using an older Microsoft video rendering app that was known for taxing processors, and the Pro 15 handled both – the fan kicks on during video editing, but it isn’t obnoxiously loud and doesn’t make any odd noises. I’ve tried multiple games and haven’t noticed any video hiccups or stalls so far except literally just one frame rate drop, but that is something that can and does happen randomly at times on even the very best machines. This can also happen if your home WiFi is wonky but you can wire it into the laptop if you like. The speakers are fine – not the best but more than able to cope with sound for watching videos and when gaming. Microsoft Copilot is now a feature in newer laptops, including the Asus Pro 15. AI is going to be a part of our daily lives eventually, so better get used to it! In this case, you can type or speak an inquiry, and Copilot will answer your questions, create an image for you, mock up an email or story, and much more. It’s responsive and quick in most cases. Results overall are pretty good, though image creation is hit-and-miss depending on how detailed you are in your description. This feature will save you a good bit of time once you get the hang of it, but just like many things in life… “use responsibly!”. The fairly large charging brick unfortunately has a proprietary plug on it that fits into the right side of the Asus Pro 15 for charging – I would very much have preferred a USB-C type charger. Battery life is rated for up to 10 hours which is subjective, as it depends on what you’re doing. Tons of video work and it’s much less. Standard daily tasks and it may last through the day. For me with mixed us so far I’m saying on average about 7.5 to 8 hours if you moderate the screen brightness. You have enough ports for whatever you need. Two USB-C ports (1 is Thunderbolt enabled), Two USB-A port, a HDMI port, one for your headphones, and a network port should you decide to hardwire instead of using WiFi. Nearly every port is on the right side, with only one USB-A port on the left. A standard memory card slot is also on the right. The built-in webcam is of the 1080p variety and offers pretty good video in decent to good light. Degrades of course in low light but usable. The web cam unfortunately does not have a slider to slide over the front for privacy, but you can set the laptop up to disable the cam when you step away from the computer. Overall I really love the Asus Pro 15. It has plenty of power for everything from basic to upper-mid level editing, and more. I haven’t run into any big hiccups so far, and find it an enjoyable computer to use. The keyboard is comfortable, it’s overall very quiet except during heavy load processes and still not obnoxious, and while it gets warm during those times, it cools down quickly (use risers or a cooling pad to help with this); and unlike some in this category, the price isn’t totally outlandish as well. Thumbs-up.
