Extremely happy so far. For my use, this is the perfect laptop at the right price. I already have a Mac desktop and didn't need a Macbook (well, I didn't need the PRICE of a Macbook lol) and I simply wanted a lightweight laptop that I could use without needing to head upstairs to my office to use my Mac. I have a chronic illness and there are days where I have to limit trips up and down the stairs in my home. My use is mainly for light work within Autodesk Fusion and Bambu Studio for 3d printing, as well as internet browsing. With this in mind, I'm ok with the 8GB RAM especially at this low price point. I do wish it wasn't soldered in, but it not a deal breaker for me. The build is excellent for this little laptop - the aluminum feels sturdy and doesn't creak or bend at all. I was a bit nervous about its dark color, but so far it doesn't seem to be much of a fingerprint magnet so I'm very happy about that. The screen is gorgeous - I of course use dark mode on everything to help prevent any possible burn in since it's OLED. I do wish it wasn't quite so reflective but it's a minor gripe. I specifically wanted a touchscreen because for me personally, I prefer that ability when working with my 3d printing models. The keyboard is solid and the keys are nice and responsive and not mushy. Love the backlight on it which is hard to get at this price point. Overall, it's a very premium feel on a budget. So far it's running cool and quiet for what I'm putting it through, can't speak to battery life in detail just yet, I'm not going to get the 15 promised by Asus but it's shaping up to give me about 8-10 hours of use which is more than enough for my purposes.

Ram is soldered, no upgrade available so not for gaming, very fast and powerful though, sleek and with a feeling of neatness, really reminds me of a new Mac but better, and the screen isn’t glossy bc of touchscreen like I’ve read, highly recommend for work or school and a bonus to be able to light gameplay. This laptop is a great Macbook alternative with good build quality and premium features for much less than the competition. It has a beautiful screen, a great tying experience and a long battery life. I upgraded the SSD with a Silicon Power 2TB NVMe M.2 PCIe that I got for cheap. I also setup up dual partitions for both Window & Linux after cloning the original Windows drive. Both Windows/Linux environments run flawlessly, with the Ubuntu distro running out box without any tweaking (touch screen, Wi-Fi etc). Not only can the laptop handle basic day-to-day tasks, but the Intel Core Ultra 5 can do intensive duties as well, since it's very fast. I'm a very happy camper and feel most will concur after purchasing this item.

This laptop’s OLED screen is stunning, with deep blacks and vibrant colors that make movies and creative work look amazing. Performance with the Core 5 is solid for everyday tasks, but if you need more power for gaming or heavy multitasking, the Core 7 is worth considering. The build feels sturdy, the design is sleek, and the keyboard and trackpad are comfortable. Battery life is decent, though OLED screens can drain it faster. Overall, it's a great choice if you want a top-tier display without sacrificing performance.

Beautiful OLED screen and snappy performance

What’s great is the beautiful OLED touch screen, long battery life, light weight, thin and small size, USB-C battery charging and snappy performance for everyday use. Includes a 65 watt charger. Physical shutter for webcam privacy. Excellent audio (Harmon / Kardon) quality given the size of the laptop. The backlit keyboard feels good and is easy to see in pretty much all lighting conditions and angles when the back light is off. See photo. Supports the use of a stylus. (not included) The cooling fan only runs when under a load and not in light to normal use, such as web browsing, writing this review on MS 365 and watching videos. I’ve used other recently manufactured laptops that would run the fan just to play a YouTube video. Annoying. Excellent build quality will Milspec ratings (see Asus site for detailed info). Gorilla glass screen. Aluminum housing feels solid. No creaking and twisting with screen or base. Touch pad and touch screen work as expected. No odd behavior exhibited from either. What could be better is 16GB of RAM instead of 8GB that’s not upgradeable. You cannot add more RAM or swap an 8GB stick for a 16, or higher stick of RAM. It’s soldered to the motherboard from what I can tell. A 1TB SSD instead if 512GB. From what I can tell, that’s upgradeable. But you will need special tools to open the case to do it. But I think the price point is a trade off for the OLED screen. Not a bad trade off in my opinion. For a couple of hundred or so more, you can get this laptop with 16GB and a 1 TB SSD. Missing an SD or Micro SD card reader. I won’t be listing all the specs in my review. They are listed on the product’s page, and you can go to Asus’ site for even more details. I will be talking about performance and directly comparing it to a couple of Dell laptops I have reviewed over the past couple of years. One in particular, that’s at a similar price point. Setup was easy and I had no problems setting up WiFi, logging into my router and adding it to my Microsoft account. Unlike some computer manufacturers, no bloatware. Just a couple of apps that didn’t pertain to Microsoft, Intel or other components that need an app to function or fine tune. The Intel® Core™ Ultra 5 processor 125H (18M Cache, up to 4.50 GHz) CPU in this laptop is of a new design. "Intel® AI Boost is an integrated AI engine for low-power AI acceleration and CPU/GPU off-load, while Intel® Gaussian & Neural Accelerator processes AI speech and audio applications while simultaneously freeing up CPU resources for overall system performance and responsiveness." I think it is on par with the last generation Core i7U in the 14” Dell I reviewed. It has 14 total cores. 4 performance cores (2 threads per core), 8 efficient cores and 2 low power efficient cores (single thread per core). It also has Intel’s new Arc GPU on board too. See Intel’s site for more info. The OLED screen is beautiful. If you are not familiar with OLED vs LCD and what a color gamut is, Google it. I would explain it, but that would make this review too long. Let me say that if you plan on viewing photos, watching videos and anything HDR, OLED is what you want. Also, for light photo editing. Not enough memory and CPU power to run full blown Photoshop or Lightroom efficiently. However, I think it’s enough to run Photoshop Elements or similar photo editing programs / apps without it being sluggish. The color and contrast are noticeably deeper than even the high-performance LCD screen on the Asus ROG laptop I reviewed 3 years ago. Note: I use that laptop with a Bluetooth keyboard and external monitor, so its screen has very low hours on it. I have taken photos to compare the screen color depth of this laptop and three others. The Asus ROG laptop mentioned above, a 14” Dell with a 6-bit LCD panel and a 16” Dell with a 4K OLED. The OLED screens are on par with each other. If you are viewing this with a smartphone, tablet, monitor and laptop with an OLED screen, you should be able to see the difference. Not so, much, if at all, with an LCD screen. I set all the laptops to their default color profiles and brightness at 8 out of 10 steps. Photos taken with a Canon EOS R with a 100mm f2.8L lens, white balance set to daylight. Shot to 16 bit RAW files. I had to convert them to 8 bit color to save them as a JPG file for the mosaic to insure browser compatibility. The only real way to see the difference is in person. But I hope this helps. See photo. Compared to the 14” 2 in 1 Dell with Core i7 1355U CPU, 16GB RAM, 1 TB SSD, 6 bit screen. The only things the Dell beats this Asus in is more RAM and SSD capacity, it’s a 2 in 1 (can be a tablet) and has an SD card reader. A slow one. CPU performance seems to be similar. Big difference in screen color depth when viewed side by side. Asus blows it away as expected. Dell costs a couple of hundred more. Similar build quality. Asus battery life is about double. Compared to the 16” 2 in 1 Dell with Core i7 1260P CPU, 16GB RAM, 1 TB SSD, 4K OLED. Again, more RAM, larger SSD and card reader are wins for Dell and a larger 4K OLED screen that’s on par in color depth, (full P-3 color gamut) and 4 times the resolution. However, performance seems slower on the Dell. Probably from pushing 4 times the pixels on the screen, even with Nvidia GPU with 2GB. Similar battery life and build quality. However, this Dell costs twice as much as the Asus. See photos for benchmarks This laptop has a lot going for it for its price point. OLED screen being top on the list, battery life, performance, build quality, size, weight, audio quality and keyboard. The only negatives are lower RAM and a smaller SSD than average. Not enough for your needs? Just move up the next Zenbook model that has more RAM and a larger SSD. Highly recommended!

This is the second Zenbook 14 purchased this year. I bought it for my wife and the first one is for my business purpose. I am very happy to its price and performance. Its integrated software MyASUS helps me to monitor the laptop easily. I would recommend this model to both home and business use.

I have owned several Asus computers and many of their other products (routers, motherboards) - all of which were well built and reliable. Based on my initial impression, I have no doubt that this Zenbook is the same quality I have come to expect from Asus. The light weight and thin profile, combined with the 14" screen size, make this laptop very portable and easy to hold while using. The Intel Core Ultra 5 Evo has plenty of power for everyday task and is very efficient. Pros 1. Excellent build quality. The screen hinge is easy to position and has no play at all. The aluminum case has a quality feel - good texture/finish and does not bend or creak. The rubber feet on the bottom keep do a great job of keeping the laptop in place and leave room for ventilation on hard surfaces. 2. Stay cools... never got hot and the fan is very quiet. 3. Battery life is great. While I didn't get the 15hrs claimed by Asus, I still easily got over 10hrs in mixed use, without trying to conserve battery power at all - blasting music (trying out the speakers), letting the MyAsus app auto-hibernate (rather than putting it to sleep during breaks), and increasing the screen brightness as needed. The MyAsus app also lets you adjust some options for managing battery health (limiting charging to 80% when a full charge is not needed) and has some smart options for conserving power when using the battery. 4. Full sized USB 3.2 Type-A port (no adapter needed), 2 USB-C ports (great since you need one for charging), head phone jack, and HDMI port (once again no adapter need – this is great, because lots of laptops make you use a USB-C adapter now). 5. 1920x1200 screen is sharp, with good colors, and brightness. It performed well in my brightly lit breakfast room and living room (lots of sun). I do wish the screen was less reflective (more of a matte finish), but adjusting the screen angle helps. 6. The nicely spaced keyboard has a good key travel and a backlight that can automatically adjust brightness to match ambient lighting. There is space on both sides of the trackpad to rest your palms and the track pad can also be disabled if you have a mouse (to avoid accidental clicks). 7. Built-in 1080p web camera is great for video conferencing. Images and video are clear with good brightness (with just a little noise/artificing). I love the easy to operate built-in privacy shutter (great job Asus). There are a variety of microphone modes to adjust noise cancelling in the MyAsus app. I used this for video chatting with family using Google Meet and they said that both the sound and image were clear. 8. Touch screen and multi-touch touchpad work great to allow you to leave your mouse at home. The touch screen is great for my younger daughter who sometimes has difficulty using the mouse/touch pad. Using two fingers/pinch to zoom in/out (on screen or on the touchpad) works better than using my mouse's scroll wheel. 9. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth work great. I am connected using an older Wi-Fi mesh network and signal strength has been excellent in every room (better than my iPhone). My Bluetooth mouse connected instantly and has been working great. 10. The included USB-C charging cord is 6.5 ft long and gives you some options to find a plug on the go. 11. The included MyAsus app is really useful. I regularly use it to adjusting settings and monitor system performance. It also offers basic support, Asus update notifications, and product registration options. Things to Consider 1. The DDR5 RAM is fast, but the limited 8GB available (non-upgradable) is also the biggest drawback to this laptop. This means that this laptop is meant for casual use (like school work, email, web browsing, watching videos, and basic Office applications). I never experienced a performance issue - no lag at all (Windows does a good job of RAM management), but I saw RAM utilization of around 80-90% regularly with light multitasking. 2. The lower amount of RAM also means that you miss out on better integrated graphics (like the Intel Arc GPU), instead this laptop is limited to the standard Intel Integrated Graphics. I had no trouble with multiple screens (the built-in screen, plus one FHD at 60hz) for casual use, but this laptop should not be used for most modern video games and would likely struggle with any video editing/processing (beyond very basic changes). 3. The SSD storage (hard drive) is reasonably fast (up to 4,200MB/s read and 1,800MB/s write), made by Micron (very solid), and there is a minimal amount of preinstalled software - leaving 420GB of free space. This is an adequate amount of storage, but modern apps and videos can eat up space quickly so this might be an issue for some people. There is also no SD card reader, so you will need an adapter if you regularly use those. 4. The speakers are good for a light weight laptop, but they are a bit flat despite the harmon/kardon and Dolby Atmos labels. They do not distort (even at max volume), volume is good, there are lots of equalizer options, and the sound stage is a decent size (directly in front of the laptop), but the low-end response (bass) is just adequate.
