AVG = A Very Good Product!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.---SETUP--- The installation of this program is straightforward. Go to the website indicated, download the specific product you bought (AVG Ultimate multi-device), install, and enter the product key. ---FEATURES--- The key feature of this program is that it serves 4 purposes (Antivirus, PC Tune-Up, Password Protection, and VPN) for up to 10 devices crossmatching Android, Mac, and Windows. Not only can it protect your computers, it can also protect your Android phones and tablets. ---PERFORMANCE--- The performance of AVG internet security is fascinating. It is very user friendly and simply works. I had my computer scanned and it found a lot of broken shortcuts, pathways, and links that weren’t being used but were taking up space. AVG fixed that in an instant upon my say-so, but let me preview what these shortcuts were before deleting them. I scanned all drives from my PC as well as connected hard drives and it found no viruses. For PC Tune-Up, it showed me a total of 29 Gigs that I wasn’t using and I recovered from that space. When I tried the VPN, it worked fast and told me that my location was now being shown as Atlanta, which is where I don’t live. To test it, I went to Yelp and searched for desserts using the “my current location” feature and it did think I was in Atlanta. When I use the VPN, though, I did notice my searches were slower than what I’m used to. For password protection, the AVG scanned all my passwords and determined which passwords were unsafe and which had been tampered with. Surprisingly, one of the websites I frequent came up as being recently breached and I was suggested to change my password, which I did. AVG continuously monitors my passwords and will alert me if any of them have leaked online. ---EXPECTATIONS--- The product meets my expectations. I like the user-friendliness of it and I truly feel protected. VPNs are something that I always found confusing to use in the past but this version of AVG makes it seamless. After I installed AVG on my gaming PC, I proceeded to install it on my 2 gaming laptops, my mac, my wife’s mac, and my work laptop. All worked easily and as expected. ---VALUE--- The price for AVG Internet Security in terms of value is an outstanding deal, as this particular product can protect up to 10 devices. ---APPROVAL--- I highly recommend this product for families with multiple device owners that need protection.

For Windows 10, awesome! For MAC, not so sure
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My original intention was to try this on my main computer, a MacBook Air. I had recently upgraded to Catalina and that may or may not be the issue, but regardless, it was a fail. I had offloaded Norton, which I had on the MacBook, and all remnants of it were gone, but AVG kept saying Norton still existed. I was on the phone with Norton for hours and all signs of Norton were definitely gone. There was still a MAC file that said something about Norton, and Norton confirmed it is a MAC file, but did not have any bearing on uninstalling Norton. AVG tech support would not be able to help me as they cannot remote into Catalina yet, so that was a dead end. I ended up installing another trial version of ESET and it installed without any snags, so it was definitely an AVG issue. That all said, when I installed this on a Windows 10 machine, it was truly an amazing experience. So much is included in this package, from an included VPN with decent bandwidth, to anti-virus, firewall, clean up utility, and even a process cleanup that puts stuff to sleep that is running unnecessarily. I had even uninstalled Norton on that machine, installed AVG without a glitch, and it was very simple, easy, and quick, A small annoyance was that the driver updater service from AVG is an add on expense, vs. including in the ultimate package, which I did not subscribe to that service. Honestly, I've been using security software for longer than most, and I can tell you that this was well thought out, performed well, and did not negatively impact the computer speed/bandwidth, etc. I'd highly recommend this for any Windows 10 computer without a doubt. For MAC, you might want to do a try before you buy and see if it was just me, or maybe having Catalina installed.

Great all-in-one protection
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.AVG Ultimate is one of the best All-in-one protection systems. With all the current issues of data theft, privacy, and computer viruses, this product is a must-have. This software secures and protects computers, networks, and other enabled devices. I got the downloadable version of Ultimate, and the process was fast and straightforward: first, visit the AVG download website, choose product and platform, download, and enter validation code. After that, I sent myself an email with a link for my other devices, including mobiles. Internet Security - the main features of the AVG Ultimate are antivirus and malware detection. So far, it has kept my computer from malware, hackers, and webcam snoops. The software continuously provides internet protection. Password Protection - I enabled this service, and I have not gotten any notification of password issues. It manages access control, provides data protection, secures the system against viruses and internet intrusions, and defends against other system-level security risks. TuneUp for PC - While my computer before AVG was running at a reasonable level, after operating the TuneUp, it did improve on its performance. It found some issues and easily resolved them, such as some broken registry items and broken shortcuts. Since the performance has increased, I get a more extended battery life now. VPN - Included with this product, providing comfort after net neutrality, is a virtual private network (VPN). This service will prevent ISP, internet service providers, from blocking or slowing service/sites you visit online. It is a great tool to mask (encrypt) your internet connection and it protects users from data collection from gov, corporations, and advertisers. It keeps your online activity completely private while conserving facility to access content from anywhere in the world without worry. Overall, I am highly satisfied with this product and I feel confident that my entire family is protected from the risks of the internet. AVG Ultimate is an excellent product for security, performance, and privacy.

Great update to an already trustworthy program
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve been using AVG for almost 15 years, ever since I’ve been serious about computer protection:m. AVG has always been a trustworthy and reliable program that I never needed to look elsewhere at the other main programs. AVG Ultimate provides an even better experience with easy-to-follow instructions on maintaining great protection and safe web browsing. Installation was easy for all of my devices. I installed it into my Windows laptop and desktop. which was fairly simple. You can protect up to 10 devices from Windows, to Mac, Android and iOS. After a few weeks on it I am again not surprised to the level of ease and protection that AVG supports. Pros: -Simple Interface: when you get to the home screen on the windows version, you are confronted with what should be all Green lettering for what is being protected: Computer, Web & Email, Hacker Attacks, Privacy and Payments. You also have the option to Scan the computer. When in the Scan mode, you will see a three step progression: Browser threats, Viruses & other malware, and Advanced issues. You proceed to each step using the Next icon at the bottoms again, pretty simple to use and follow. Once you complete each step will the scan complete at 100% and then provide you the recommendations to Resolve. -Other programs installed: Along with AVG Internet Security, you download AVG Secure VPN, AVG password protection, and AVG TuneUp. Each one offers fast recommendations and easy navigation. I never realized that I had so many passwords saved in my files. TuneUp offers a percentage of your computers need for “fixing” and helps alleviate the anxiety that you are protected. Possible concerns: -iOS and Android. I was having issues with iOS subscription but not with Android. The Android interface was somewhat confusing as it continuously asked that I update the virus definitions and was having trouble navigating that. Otherwise, works just as well. Overall, I am very well pleased with AVG and trust that all of my devices are safe and secured.

Antivirus protection, with micro-transactions
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Short and simple, AVG will provide protection from most computer viruses, malware, ransomware and zero day attacks out there. You get the internet security, tune-up, VPN, password protection and you get the Pro versions on Android devices with the Ultimate edition. However, I had some issues and feel some things were left out as described below. With multiple computers and android devices (no IOS support) in my household I went through installation multiple times. I figured, once I logged into my AVG account the subscription would be there, however, it was not and required me to enter the 18 character key each and every time. Even with technical support assistance, it still is not listed as “My subscriptions.” During the setup on PC you start the install and get to activate or use free trial. You then do an initial scan which will check browser threats and for viruses. The third step is listed as “Advanced Issues” which mentions sensitive documents with no real detail as to what it needs to do to protect you, just “Resolve All” or skip. I had 14 documents which later I find it identifies them as things like payroll and travel documents, but no indication as to how it is protecting them. Fourth step scans performance issues and shows a list of all the “junk” files to include your Downloads folder which is typically files you purposely download. The option again is to resolve or skip. If you choose to skip it warns you of the dangers, if you choose to resolve it then pops up with “Get AVG TuneUp to resolve your PC Issues” for another subscription fee. Pretty sure from the description that the Ultimate edition included TuneUp. Click the continue button and it goes straight to asking for credit card information. If you paid for Ultimate, it is included, you just have to cancel and skip this step then select to install it separately. The Internet Security portion of AVG has several protections but simplified to 5 categories on the main interface. This includes Computer, Web & Email, Hacker Attacks, Privacy, and Payments. Each of these have subsections that can be either disabled or additional settings applied, like adding a specific folder to be protected. From everything I checked, this did a decent job of protecting me from known malicious material. However, everything just felt like blind trust as there were no real descriptions, not even a “?” to get more detail on these sections. I also had issues where the Web & Email protection is a bit over protective. On some secure websites there were issues with certificates not being validated. What the Web Shield does, and apparently the Email Shield as well, is adds a certificate between you and the secure sites. This makes the site look certified by AVG and not its original source, so some web applications could fail and this setting is the cause. In order to resolve it I had to disable both of these features, clear all of my browser cache and restart my computer. A bit frustrating as I know some people would have had to contact support to find this out. With the Internet Security, under My AVG, there are other applications available. TuneUp as mentioned earlier, Password Protection, Secure VPN, Driver Updater and AntiTrack. With Ultimate all except Driver Updater and AntiTrack are included as they want more annual subscription fees for those. TuneUp will help put applications that automatically start up to sleep to help speed up your computer and boot process, check and repair broken registry issues, find useless files and check for updates of other application. Be aware of what you put to sleep as some applications won't start later unless you wake them manually. When it scans files to free up space it will display the number of items and the combined size. You can click to see more details on some categories, but if there are more than 50 files it only displays 50 “For optimal performance” so you may want to double check that folder listed before you select “Clean Now” as it is all or nothing with most of them. This is particularly true for the Downloads folder as it lists it as “System Junk.” Tune-up will search some of you your applications, like Firefox and Adobe, and let you know if there are any available updates. Nice for applications you might not use often or may have disabled the auto check for update features on. AVG Password Protection allows you to scan web browsers for stored passwords and lets your know if any of them are duplicate and considered weak. The change password option on each of these will open the site for you and the browser will auto fill the information saved. AVG then has a window that will offer a randomly generated password, which you can customize in length and style of characters used, for you to copy and paste once you are at that sites change password option. The details for this protection also states that it actively monitors that web for leaked passwords and warns you when found. I know for a fact that some of the stored passwords in my browser have been leaked, as discovered on HaveIBeenPwned, but AVG hasn’t warned me of this, so I have no idea what that part is doing. It doesn’t even ask for other account information like other antivirus programs have that offer this protection. This is also not a password vault where you could have stored passwords more securely. The Secure VPN, once installed, works fairly decent and is easy to manage. You are constantly reminded during installation and during regular use that your IP is visible or your connection is not private. The VPN will automatically select the closest/fastest server for you, however, you can manually select from a list of other countries and server preferences. There are a bit over 50 servers to choose from and some are labeled to permit P2P and best suited for streaming. However, like most VPNs, your download speeds will be limited (See photo, results vary) and I also could not use Netflix on any of the servers I tried that were listed for Streaming. So, even though they may be optimized for streaming, they are being restricted by some providers. As for the Android applications, AntiVirus and AVG Cleaner, they are free with advertisements for anyone. However, activating them to Pro edition removes 3rd party advertisements, not AVG advertising. In order to stop those additional notifications you need to go into Settings>Notifications & alerts > AVG Promotions. Pro edition also adds app locking and VPN for the AntiVirus and Automatic Cleaning and Battery Saver for the Cleaner. During initial use of the applications they walk you through a whole lot of permission settings, even more if you want to use the anti-theft feature. If you ever go to uninstall the application, the administrative permissions have to be removed first. As for the anti-theft features, I really found everything about it, to include the website interface, felt very outdated. Even had an old phone associated to my account that by the website interface looked like it was still connected, but the commands would time out and the last update was over a year and a half ago. Even my current phone, though I have the application open says it last communicated days ago and commands would take minutes to hours to finalize if they didn’t outright fail. I found the default Google features to be more reliable. From previous version of AVG and some other providers, there are a lot of features that have been removed. You can’t manage or see the status of any of your devices other than Android devices through the website. You used to be able to send text commands to your device for anti-theft, not any more. Some features even still listed in the Android apps explain they no longer work. Also of note, all of the applications have their own privacy settings which by default share data with AVG and other systems that Avast owns. So, you might want to edit those.

Light and customizable!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm loving this security suite. What I liked the most is at the time of setup you can choose customize so you can pick which components to install. So lets say you only want the internet security (antivirus, firewall) you can do so. You want to add the included VPN? You can also do so. Thus creating a very light install or a very comprehensive one. I chose to install most of it, except its own browser. You can install it on a PC, MAC or android. On my pc its protecting everything, from viruses, malwares, firewall and I have the VPN, which I only activate when I'm on a public network (you must!) and I hasn't slown down my gaming laptop at all. Its very light and inobstrusive. It even detects if you are gaming on full screen, thus does not annoy you while you're gaming. I highly recommend this piece of complete protection whatever device you have (it even protects your android devices, with so many rogue apps, this should be a must too).

Good Antivirus and Useful Tools, but Not Perfect
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like a lot of things about AVG Ultimate. The antivirus protection is good and there are some very useful extra tools, but even with the ‘Ultimate’ edition it feels like AVG is trying to pile on more stuff disguised as issues that need to be ‘resolved’. With the recommended products installed, I saw AVG taking up about 1.9GB on my PC. Not nothing for sure, but it is the Ultimate version. Antivirus includes basic file and email protection, in addition to extras like preventing malicious applications from accessing your webcam and protecting your files and card info from fake websites. TuneUp does mostly what it sounds like - clearing up space, fixing disk errors, etc. Password Protection scans your saves password and alerts if you any of them have been compromised as part of a data breach; it also suggests changing weak passwords or passwords that are the same for multiple accounts. Finally, SecureVPN creates a VPN connection for your PC that encrypts your online activity; it can also make you appear to be in various locations around the world, which is useful for getting around certain regional restrictions. My experience using most of these products was good, though I found that the Password Protection continues to tell me my accounts have been breached even after I’ve changed the passwords. I would consider most of what’s included to be useful, but some of it might be superfluous for others. You can pick and choose what gets installed, but stuff that’s not there still shows up as ‘strongly recommended’ features. The most egregious example is a permanent banner across the bottom of the Internet Security app telling you that you’re leaving ‘crumbs’ all over the web. Hitting ‘resolve’ takes you to a screen for a subscription of AntiTrack, which is NOT included with Ultimate. I don’t take issue with it not being there, but having the constant reminder is annoying to say the least and to me it feels a little scammy. Overall I like using AVG and when it’s not front and center it does a pretty good job of staying out of the way, but that feeling that it’s always trying to get you to install one more thing bothers me a bit. I’d still recommend if you’re looking for the ‘complete package’ though.

Easy to install
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Simple to install from browser. Ran browser scan, malware, checks. It let me know about documents that were unprotected based such things as social security number info, employment files, plane or transportation tickets, itinerary, etc., tax items, pretty cool! I skipped its request to fix as I don't know what it wanted to do. I will investigate. I especially like the WEB-CAM protection feature. I have the ability to allow or deny apps from using it. I have used AVG before. I will see if any programs like my CAD or graphics intense apps are bogged down at all, and if so, can it be disabled while in use. Loading some web pages took a little longer while running the initial scan, but my Inventor CAD program didn't seem to be effected. So far so good. As with any software package, they offer other items for additional fees.

A Complete Security Suite
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.AVG Ultimate Multi-Device, does what is boasts. It is a great Security suite of applications that gets the job done and is easy to manage. It’s dashboard and screens are user friendly. I have it installed on three computers and two phones and it is doing a great job. It’s kinda hard to give it a full test without going into some pretty dark places on the web. Like testing a fire alarm, you really don’t want to start a fire to see if it works. I really don’t want to see if someone can steal my identity to see if it is fail safe. Here are a few of the features and summary of what they do The AVG Internet Security protects you from Malware, protects you from Email and Web Threats, from Hackers, and protects your privacy. It also protects you from using your credit card on fraudulent web sites. The AVG Tune-up features a strong maintenance program that fixes broken registry strings and broken shortcuts. Removes unneeded system junk files, browser cache, cookies. It sill speed up your computer by putting to sleep any programs that are running in the back ground or at startup. The AVG Secure VPN has some great features, it will encrypt your connection, I have it showing my VPN through Australia, figured it’s a good place to show where my location is, Next week I will be showing Paris, I wonder if North Korea’s available. The AVG for Android has helped my battery life by putting unused apps to sleep and optimizing the background apps. It has a secure VPN and can scan the wi-fi for any threats. One feature I really like is that it can monitor your data in case you are on a limited data plan. AVG Ultimate does a lot more than I can what I have stated above. It is a great option for a security suite.

Great for Windows PC and Android Phone
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This software package AVG Ultimate is more than just antivirus software. I will discuss all of the different options and features. The package is installed on 2 windows 10 PC’s and 4 Android phones. It is comforting to know I am safe and my devices are operating to their potential. You get Antivirus, Tune-up and VPN software included with the license. Also, with 10 licenses, I can protect all of the devices in my family. AVG Ultimate was first installed on a PC. The install was straight forward with no issues encountered. I entered my subscription key and all of the additional features were enabled. All of the default settings were perfect. You need to uninstall any already installed antivirus software before installing AVG. This is very standard. The most recent software and virus definitions were downloaded. I then ran a full scan. Thankfully no viruses were found. VPN software was used next. You can select locations from most countries across the world. I did a test connecting to the server in Canada. It worked perfectly with no noticeable impact to performance. I set it so it is always on to protect my identity. TuneUp was next up. After the scan AVG TuneUp found: - 500 broken registry items - 1,725 broken shortcuts - 3.6 GB system junk files - 1.7GB browser cache - 85 tracking and other items All of these were cleaned within minutes. You are then provided the option for Automatic Maintenance. I turned this on to keep everything running optimally. Next up is to Speed up your PC and review all of the background and start up programs. 23 programs were listed. There are 3 I want to keep running in the background. I selected “ignore” for these programs. 20 programs were put to sleep. Last is “Fix Problems”. This checks your disk drives. I have 3 drives and 2 out of 3 had no errors. One disk had errors which were fixed. Using you ultimate license allows you also use this software on your phone. I have an android phone so installed VG Antivirus and AVG cleaner from the Play Store. After install I enter the subscription key to enable all features. The install went fast with no issues. The AVG antivirus scan was fast and no issues were encounters. I used the ACG Cleaner and this freed up a lot of space on my phone. I went from 91% utilization to 79%. My phone is faster! You can also hibernate apps so they are not consuming resources. Overall this is an excellent and comprehensive package for all of your devices. I recommend this software package for Windows PC’s and Android phones.

Great Anti-virus without the overhead
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was in the market to look for an anti-virus product that will provide great protection without high pc overheard. Thankfully AVG works great at protection at low cpu cycles as well as include additional optimization services for the computer. It also has a lot of additional scanning features and customization that works great for those who want to maximize their antivirus software.

A bit disappointing for an “ultimate” edition
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve used AVG before on my laptop and Android phone. The phone app was pretty decent as it was free and provided some measure of protection. The computer application was equally cool as well for the price. Never had any major issues with it and it seemed to work well. This ultimate edition software, I figured should be just as good as previous versions however this one is a bit lacking. All the major features are in this software for the most part. There is the virus scanner, internet security and hacker/privacy scan. I figured for an “ultimate” edition, this would include all their services however, I now constantly get reminders that my PC is slowed down by this or that. In order to resolve these issues, I have to pay additional monthly/annual fees. It’s not even that much but the simple fact that on top of buying this “ultimate” edition software, you have to pay more. There are other free software that will do what you have to pay to do in this AVG software so I’m a little confused as to the need for nickel and diming customers. Seems like a cheap move to be honest

Clean interface, easy to use, fast, secure!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Ultimate suite from AVG is one of the best compilations of security software on the market! The VPN is quick and easy to use with no data caps, the internet security is very light on system resources (which is abnormal for most security suites!), there are many more features for mobile, desktops, tablets, and laptops! I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for an excellent security suite for a whole family with many devices!

does the job, but...
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.AVG Ultimate installs easily onto the first system. After that, however, the extended features do not easily add onto the extra systems. This is true of both windows laptop and Android phones. It seems the activation code no longer works after the first installation. This is the same problem experienced several years ago with AVG. The sales assured me that was addressed in past revisions of the software. I'll probably go back to Eset in the future
