Good - Brightness is amazing! / Mine did 4K @ 120Hz on my Xbox (wasn’t expecting that), most documentation say 4K @ 60 Hz! / noise is super low Not as good - Takes longer than I would like to display a picture when switching devices / price (although is in line with other projectors with these specs)/ Throw is very short so do your math ahead of time to make sure it will work in your room (I had to adjust my mount forward 3 feet from where my old projector was). / HDMI controls don’t work well (when I turn on my Xbox the projector turns on but usually won’t show the Xbox until I switch inputs and turning off Xbox does NOT turn off projector. I have settings set to allow device (HDMI) to turn off projector set.

Worth every penny! Unbelievable picture, easy setup and perfect for our home theatre. The pictures shown don’t do it justice! Amazing color, high definition even on a 120” screen. Super quiet, don’t even notice it directly above our heads in a 9’ ceiling basement.

    Excellent Projector

Great projector that’s perfect for my theater room. The room is 12 ft by 16 ft by 8 ft height with the projector about 14 feet from the screen. The screen is 143”. The color calibration, picture quality, and contrast are very good. My room is completely light controlled, but that is not needed for this projector as it is very bright. In fact, I had to install triple black velvet as the light refection off the walls was so great and I run the projector in eco mode/smart eco mode all the time. Watching 4k UHD movies on it is just fantastic. I can’t comment on 3D, gaming performance, or the android TV as I don’t use any of it. Definitely recommended.

I hesitated at first to purchase this LCD projector, this of course was due to intense research on the many options that are available on the market. I finally decided to buy, and to my amazement it lived up to the expectations of a non laser projector. The picture quality is awesome out of the box, with a little fine tuning it was unbelievable sharp and clear even in the dark scenes. Set up was easy, the remote is very friendly to use, I hooked up to my Sony surround system and the sound quality was excellent. The projector is good looking , medium sized and decent weight to handle easily even in the ceiling mounted position which I installed. Overall this is excellent quality for the price compared to the more expensive laser brands. Using now for 2 months for movies and gaming and I am enjoying every moment of it. Happy with this projector and the BestBuy agent was awesome in his research and advice. Hope you will be happy with your purchase also.

I have used the projector for a year now and it’s amazingly quiet with an incredible and sharp picture. I will stick with BenQ for all my projectors going forward.

The capability of this projector looked impressive on paper. Actually, even in operation, the image seemed quite good. HOWEVER, despite the advertised range and image size, there were no details available about how the image size was very dependent on the distance from the screen. This meant it did not fit on our home theater. We had a specific mounting site which did not make for the right screen size (very limited adjustability). There was no documentation to indicate that before purchase. We could just see that we fell with the ranges but could not see how the range correlated with screen size with minimal capacity for adjustment. Really, the projector seems best suited for portability (presentations). It is small and light, especially considering the high definition and quality. Yet, I’m not sure who needs that high degree of definition and quality for a travelling office presentation. So, consider carefully how you will use it. Good image and resolution but not very adaptable to your situation. You will need to be the one to adapt.

Very nice picture clarity. I’ve watched 3d movies with the AWOL 3d glasses and can almost lay don and view sideways on the sofa without getting any cross talk. Have played PS3 games in 3d as well with a very good experience. We have a bright picture even with dark scenes in HDR10+ using the eARC through a q990c soundbar from samsung and an Apple TV 4K. It’s a bit washed out if it’s too bright during the day but we are on a sound transparent 1 gain screen that’s motorized and tab tensioned from elite screens so some light is lost through the screen. Despite that it is a nice theater experience even at noon but dark scenes become a bit difficult and more just mildly noticeable vs unwatchable during those times. No rainbow effect for anyone who’s watched it so far and that’s even while trying to see it. It is amazing. I would have paid more for automatic zoom and some other higher ended features but at $3K it’s really a game changer in the projector market. We watch everything on Eco light source to increase longevity and that is what this review is based on.

If you looking for a 4K home theater projector with all the bells and whistles you need, look no further than this BenQ. This projector projects a striking image with great contrast and black levels. It even includes 3D capability. The heart of this projector is its LED bulb rated at 20,000 hours. The other key benefit is its bright lamp rated at 3200 lumens. You. don't even need to place this in a dark room for a great look. This projector also includes Android TV, an add-on device that lets you watch Netflix, Prime Video and other Android apps. The BenQ HT-4550i is a solid projector and an incredible value at its current price point.

Repair advice was to buy a $3,000 replacement

Less than a year after purchasing it stopped working. I scheduled an appointment with the Geek Squad. The Geek Squad said they don’t work on projectors. Their resolution to the repair was to purchase a new $3,000 projector. Not contact the manufacturer. Not find another repair company. THEY SAID BUY A NEW $3,000 REPLACEMENT FOR A DEVICE WHICH IS A YEAR OLD.
