A Berserk Dynasty Warriors Game
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you are a fan of the anime, you know that this is going to be bloody and have some nudity and disturbing situations - as well as some crazy twists. Applying the Dynasty Warriors Musou formula of taking down hundreds of enemies and including boss battles and tons of unlockables fits this property well. The game plays great on PS4 and although not a visual masterpiece, the effects and styles look very nice. As in other Musou games, you can unlock other characters and weapons as well as well as gain cutscenes for your progression. Just note that the anime goes a lot deeper so don't expect every detail. The hack and slashing is truly satisfying considering the property and if you are fan of the anime and Musou style games, then definitely pick it up.

A fun, different take on the DW formula
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Berserk is the latest Koei/Tecmo game that can be described as "like dynasty warriors but". If you are not familiar with the Dynasty Warriors games, they can best be described as modern 3d takes on classic 2d, side scrolling, "beat em' ups" like Final Fight. They do have more depth and strategy than the 2D games they were inspired by but at the end of the day there is more button mashing than brain power needed to beat these titles. This Berserk game is tied to the most recent Berserk Anime although there are nods to the classic Manga and Anime here and there throughout the game. The game is fun and is more story driven than many DW style games. That can be both good and bad since focusing on the story gives the game a little more depth than similar titles but it also means limiting the playable characters available in both the story mode and the side modes. If you are a fan of the newer Berserk animes and enjoy a good beat 'em up the you will likely get your monies worth out of the game. Otherwise, there are better DW style games to play.

Better than all the Warriors games Combined!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game is incredibly fun and it uses the animated movies to tell the story and make you feel like you are living the story. The combat is a lot of fun without any objectives that get in the way. It has to be the best Berserk game ever. All anime games should be like this.

Mindless fun
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you're a fan of the Berserk manga/anime and musou type games like I am, this game is good mindless fun. Otherwise, it probably isn't for you. Basically it takes you through the old Berserk anime using clips from it for the cutscenes, and also the anime that came out in 2016 (although rendered through the game engine instead). It also extends the 2016 story a bit more than the anime ended off at. The issues with the game is it does get a bit repetitive like all musou type games and there's not as many playable characters. You also play mostly as Guts in the story which is understandable, but they should have allowed more missions that used the other characters. It is also censored in many areas and a lot of the story details were trimmed down. There are other modes, however, that let you grind and that could be fun, but I only finished the story. I enjoyed it for what it was.

Cutscenes and Cutting Galore!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As many Musou game are, this game can get pretty repetitive, but Berserk has tons and tons of anime cutscenes, so I found myself looking forward to the next level more than I usually do in these types of games. It actually has a pretty compelling story. To me, this game is right up there with Hyrule Warriors as the best in the genre. NOTE: This game is single-player only, so if you're looking to cut through baddies with a pal, look elsewhere.

It's good for fans
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For fans of the anime, it's a no brainer. For others looking for a warrirors experience, it's not quite up to par compare to other DW games. At $20, it's worth it.

Great for fans
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you're a fan of the manga or anime you will most likely enjoy this game. I myself can't stop playing this, just the power you feel when playing as Guts as he defeats hundreds and hundreds of enemies is just pure awesomeness. Now if you don't know anything of the world of Berserk and would like to this is more of a beginners way of learning, but be warned gameplay is very repetitive.

For the Warriors fans...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. No not Golden State but for all Dynasty Warriors fans (and I guess also fans of the Berserker anime) this doesn't really offer anything too new but it is fun to to play, especially when going rage mode and the gore starts to display. It also has decent story and upgrades+progression keep it interesting.

Good adaption, character balance; bad instructions
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had first found out about Berserk from the Dreamcast game. It was only afterward that I learned it was an adaption of a manga. I recently watched the anime and fell in love. This new game is a good adaption of the early parts of the series and I like that each character plays differently and that there's character balance. Otherwise, there'd be no reason not to only use Guts and Nosferatu Zodd. I imagine this game could get boring for non-fans or for people who don't want to run around and stab things, but if you're a fan who wants to run around and stab things, boy howdy, this is the game for you. The main faults for me is how equipping costumes and what stats like "rapacity" mean aren't explained. I can't find anything about those in the tutorials or manuals. I'm sure bigger stat numbers are a good thing when I'm crafting, but I don't know what these stats do. I also have unlocked a bunch of costumes, but I don't know how to use them.

Berzerk Action for a GREAT price!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Even though I already had the digital version of this game, for the price with Best Buy's gamer club savings, I had to have the physical version of this RAD game!

Fun Berserk game
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game is a Berserk skinned dynasty warriors game. Berserk fits a dynasty warriors style game perfectly. Its bloody and pretty much accurate to the source material with Guts killing hundreds of enemies by himself. It has story cut-scenes from the recent berserk movies. I'd say if you are a berserk fan pick this one up. It may not be for everyone but fans are sure to have a good time.

A great hack and slash with an anime feel
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Berserk and the Band of the Hawk is as you would expect from a musou game an all out hack and slash fest. It does however bring the feel of the anime on all levels. B&BoH has over two hours of anime scenes from the recent Golden Age movies to help transition between levels, as well as added full motion CGI scenes to take you into the Millennium Hawk arc. While a blast to play and entertaining, it does get a bit repetitive as would be expected. There is a large amount of content however and additional characters, though Guts will be your main protagonist through the 20+ hour storymode. Overall if you are a fan of the anime I highly recommend it, a casual fan may want to wait for a price drop or borrow it.

True to the material
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Warriors style berserk game starts with the golden arc, chronologically. The story even fills in some plot points that were vague in the manga and anime. The campaign is long and there's plenty of replay-ability, unlocking characters as you progress. It's a solid hack and slash if you love the source material.

Hack and Slash Time
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I loved the Dreamcast game Guts Rage which was based on the same manga. If swinging an enormous sword through waves of enemies is your thing, it doesn't get more pure (or fun) than this.

Great for fans
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. And it may get newcomers into the series as well. My only issue is the lack of characters. The anime cutscenes are a really nice touch as well.
