Now I understand why people pay big bucks for nice dishwashers! I'm a mother of 4 and lived with a cheap dishwasher for the last 5 years. I couldn't carry on a conversation in my living room when it was running and had to rewash stuff all the time. Just purchased a new home and when I found I needed to replace the dishwasher I did my homework and decided on this Bosch 500. This thing is fabulous. We chose the black since the stainless showed fingerprints like crazy in the store. I can't hear it running AT ALL and my dishes come out perfectly clean. The third tray has allowed me to eliminate the silverware basket on bottom making more room for pans etc. The auto/sanitize cycle does run about 2.5 hours but because it's so quiet I start it up before bed and let it run while I sleep. I was curious about dishes coming out wet but I'm happy to report it's not an issue. Use the sanitize option and make sure to use your rinse aid. We installed it ourselves and it was very easy. Yeah, it was almost double the cost of my old junky dishwasher, but it is worth every penny.

The design details are impressive regarding flexibility/adaptability of the interior for different pots, glasses, etc. sizes. (Make sure you know how to use them if you purchase. Perhaps get a demo). I disagree with the comments about dish rack tines being too close. Rather, plates stay firmly upright nicely. Love it. I wish I had gotten a bar handle to use as a dish towel bar. The machine has somewhat of an odor that I ignore. It's just newness. A primary difference from this machine versus the American models is a very hot water and self dry vs American model heating coil. The drying works perfectly well. I cleaned the exterior with coconut oil and it wipes clean easily. The other negative comment is that there's a filter that may need occasional cleaning. I rinse my dishes before hand, so not a big issue. Also, the filter is right the under the dish rack. Easy. Good luck with your shopping. Buy this with confidence.

This DW replaced a fairly sophisticated but untrustworthy Samsung with the lower bar spray design. I was looking for a reliable DW that would clean well and have enough options such as the third rack, delay start, and sanitize. Of course it had to clean well and be quiet. I built a high spreadsheet and compared every model for decibels, features, price, etc. I finally settled on the Bosch. After 8 months, guess what? It still is working - not like my prior experience which was fixed twice - once at my cost and once not. I waited 8 months to see if it was still trouble free. So far, so good. We use it nearly every day - sometimes twice a day. I think features are probably in the eye of the beholder - and certainly I paid more for the third rack but I would never have another DW w/o it. One more thing - I also bought the extended warranty. I would never buy a DW w/o one - never.

Sparkling clean dishes. This machine does a very good job. The only negative is that it lacks a hot drying cycle. And interior light would also be a nice feature which it does not have.

Aside from the great looks, this is so quiet that they had to put a little red light that shines onto the floor to let you know it's still running. We really like the silverware drawer on top, and it has plent of room for a lot of silverware. We really like the buttons on top, it looks much neater. We are very pleased with the drying, I know ome of the complaints was insufficient drying, but we have not experienced that at all. Best Buy was top notch all the way around.

Our previous dishwasher was a GE 12yo We replaced with a BOSCH 500 series.. you never know it's running unless you see the red light underneath the dishwasher very peaceful! My first choice was the Samsung waterfall... but when the salesman saw this was on clearance (floor model) $500 cheaper. He was more excited than I was. I read the reviews and from his reaction and reviews and the price was right We were sold... It looks great!!

This is the quietest dishwasher I've ever used and also the best I've ever used. I made microwave peanut brittle and the bowl I used, the candy completely hardened on to the bowl. I didn't even rinse the bowl and let the dishwasher do its magic. Came out completely clean!!! See picture attached. Other reviews complained about the lack of a heat dry option, but honestly, that's never been an issue for me. The Jet Dry does the trick.

Bosch is the best dishwasher on the market. Love it. Dishes are always super clean and dry. Light signals when running and off when done. The third rack is a big help and with the height adjustable racks all pans and pots fit. Tupperware and other plastics don't melt as the heating elements are covered. Great product but it is pricy...

Dish washer was damaged during installation by Best Buy's installer XPO the back legs were snapped off so it could not be leveled and the kick plate was missing. Best Buy then sent the same guy from XPO back to fix it, but I would not let them in. Best buy then scheduled XPO to fix it 2 more times and XPO failed to show up. The entire time Best Buy is holding my money hostage and refusing to give it back because their installer has failed to fix or replace it. Finally got someone from XPO to show up to take it out and got my money back. Best buy claimed 2 weeks ago they would send me a $100 gift card but I have yet to see it. I ended up taking 4 days off of work while waiting on Best Buys installers to fix or replace the unit. I would strongly discourage anyone from buying this dishwasher from Best Buy as their customer service is the absolute worst I have ever had to deal with.

    Install caution

The 5 star rating is based soleIy on past experience with Bosch dishwashers and my initial impression of the appearance, control layout, racks etc. I have not yet operated it and would not want to down rate this product because of the issues I had installing but I feel an advisory could have been offered. I suspect this design change from what we are accustomed to is simply to create a larger tub area by placing the working components as low as possible. Traditionally built-in dishwashers, including the last Bosch I installed had a 1" or so space between the bottom of the machine and the floor, the water supply and electrical connection were made at the front of the machine behind the removable kick panel. This machine sits flat on the floor with zero clearance on the bottom and sides, all connection are made on the rear of the dishwasher, if you have any existing electrical or water connections protruding through the floor forward of 2" or so from the back wall they must be relocated and or terminated and new ones created. This of course will involve substantially more time than a typical in and out dishwasher replacement, so be advised.

    LOVE This Quiet Bosch Dishwasher

When I had my refrigerator installed, the installation guy told me that if I get a new dishwasher, I should get a Bosch. He said that they are the best quality dishwasher brand and I have to agree. After much research I decided on the Bosch 500 Series dishwasher and I'm glad I did. First the look: simple and modern. No buttons or handles or even a nameplate. It's just a plain stainless steel exterior which I like. The controls are on the top, out of sight when the door is closed. Second: this dishwasher is so quiet! At 44dB, one can barely hear it when the house is completely quiet. My old dishwasher made it so I hated to talk on the phone in my home office while it ran because it was so distracting. Finally the cleaning: Dishes come out clean with no water spots. We use the recommended Finish detergent and Jet Dry rinse aid. We do have standing water on cups and mugs but that doesn't bother us (on regular auto cycle). We also love the third rack for things like spatulas, long knives, stirring spoons, etc.

This is the one DW to get..

I highly recommend this dishwasher! Ok this DW does everything perfectly as promised. My wife was right, she'd pay any price asked by Bosch just to have that 3rd upper rack for all of our silverware and knives etc. Whoever thought of that deserves a huge raise! I just loaded about 3 times what our previous dishwasher could hold, so the 3 rack design is a winner! Love the LED light at the bottom right that shines on the floor. That indicator light is very useful..I'm glad we didn't pay the extra $130 for the handle design...go with the recessed handle...we're very pleased. It IS quiet...held up my decibel meter app on my iPhone while it was running at it's loudest, and it showed 61db...but when you walk away 15' to watch a movie in your family room like I usually do, the sound now drops to 43db with just the DW running and everything else in our home quiet. So now we can watch a movie right after dinner in peace and quiet (which we didn't have before now. Love that! So will you. Measure your existing DW's sound like I did with any iPhone app..There's a huge difference in sound dampening here. Bottom line, spend the extra $$$ and buy something that really works right. By the way, I pre-sold our existing dw on Craigslist and got $200 just for easily asking. Emailed my buyer a 1 min. video of it working, and had him come see it and leave me a deposit, and then had him pick up our old one after Best Buy's installer moved it to our garage. Don't just give your old appliance away to the installer...pre-sell it and pocket the savings! Easy. Also, the BBuy installation was professional and is recommended.

    Gets Dishes Clean

I didnt do any research before purchasing this. My husband wanted me to have the TOP OF THE LINE and it was either THIS or the KitchenAid from what we were told. We chose this one because of the 3rd rack. We didnt particularly like the fact that it didnt have a handle but we werent going to pay an extra $100.00 for it so we went with this model. Now, before it came I did my after purchase research and I saw a few things that weren't positive in reviews. A lot of reviews made claims that there was a horrid smell reeking from the unit after washing and it was true. There was a smell but it wasn't as bad as people claimed. It DID permeate the room a little but didn't last. Next bad review was about the tines being slanted and it was hard to get the dishes in and that part was true. We couldn't stand our glasses up because they would fall over but again, not a BIG deal breaker. Next was the 3rd rack. In THEORY it sounded good but in reality it really is a waste of real estate. My silverware was not clean at all but in the bottom rack it was fine when placed there. The 3rd rack gets in the way of anything remotely taller than 6inches so you have to remove it. Last but not least, I didnt know that it didn't have a heating element until I read the reviews afterwards. They have what they call steam dry which isn't efficient enough for me. You can't open the dishwasher for a few hrs AFTER the cycle completes for the dishes to semi dry. So all n all we returned it and got a KitchenAid before the 15 day limit was up and Im glad we did. One thing though about this unit, it's incredibly quiet and it actually DOES WASH GOOD. We had hardened oatmeal in a pot and baked on cheese from a lasagna and it got both SPOTLESS. So would I suggest buying this, ummmmm MAYBE. Let's be real, non of them are going to just clean and TOTALLY DRY without one spot no matter HOW MUCH you pay for it. Customer Service from Best Buy was excellent though and the installation.

We bought this dishwasher after doing a lot of research online. It had great reviews and ratings, including at Consumer Reports. It was delivered and installed fairly quickly and without any problem. We read all of the instructions for how to run it and then tried it out. We were disappointed because our dishes did not dry completely, although they were clean. We played around with the various settings, but the dishes would not dry properly no matter what we tried. Before complaining to Best Buy or the manufacturer, we searched online and found that this is a common complaint - but it has a very simple solution, you just have to use a rinse aid like Jet Dry. I don't know how we missed this little (big) detail in all of our research (maybe too much skimming?), but we did look at all of the troubleshooting advice and tried to get around the rinse aid with no luck. Finally we gave in and bought some to try as a last ditch effort before complaining. And, we were so happy that we did! All of the dishes have been clean and very dry ever since. With the research we also learned about the differences in drying styles between European- and American-made dishwashers, which makes the rinse aid a necessity for European-made dishwashers, such as this Bosch, to dry properly. We have had the dishwasher for nearly three weeks now and are very happy with it so far! It really is a great product! Aside from the clean & dry dishes, we also like the following things about this dishwasher: 1. Lots of room for dishes, with three trays. 2. The top tray is dedicated to silverware and such, leaving more room for dishes in the other trays. 3. The middle tray can be lowered slightly, which is very useful and nice. 4. It is SO quiet, we wouldn't know it was on if not for the indicator light, which can be turned off if you don't want it. We always tried to run our last dishwasher (a Whirlpool) before heading up to bed because it was so loud and annoying while we were watching TV, but sometimes forgot if we were too sleepy. 5. We love the stainless steel door, which goes well with the other appliances in our kitchen. The dishwasher does take longer to clean and dry (almost 2X as long as our Whirlpool), but it is supposed to be more energy efficient and does a good job with the dishes. It is a bit expensive but worth the money for the quality product.

After my last two clunker dishwashers (both over $1000), I started to think dishwashers were very imperfect machines. Now I know better. This DW does everything but cook dinner and pick the kids up from school. (Joke.) Seriously, it gets the dishes clean. CLEAN! I love the third rack as well, for flatware and utensils. Brilliant. I have a bad back and have to be careful about bending, and the higher handle in the front of the lower rack makes a big difference. I didn't even think of that until I started using it and notice how much easier that makes it to unload. I have no problem with plastic not being completely dry (as some others posted) when the cycle completes because I use very little plastic -- just those blue-lidded things from the grocery store for pet food. And then all you have to do is give it a little shake and any condensation is gone. Tiny price to pay for having everything 100% clean. It is very quiet. That was not a selling point for me as I expect noise from a machine, but I have to say I do now appreciate it. There is just a tiny hum if you listen closely. I like the controls. I run my DW every day once if not twice, and with the default programmed in, I only have to push 2 buttons. (I do use the "sanitize" option on every load, FYI.) I am extremely happy with this purchase. I paid $809 and I would have paid half as much again and still be happy. The installation guys were great and I am pleased as punch.

This is an update to a previous review. The dishwasher had mold inside when I got it, so leads me to believe it had been previously purchased and returned. So, Best Buy gets one star for re-selling a used product as new. But, I cleaned the mold with white vinegar and water, then ran a cycle, and it cleaned up fine. Also, the other issue I was having (constant beeping...telling me to add rinse agent even though the rinse agent reservoir was full) turned out to be an installation issue. (Although Bosch loses a point for poor error warnings since it had nothing to do with the rinse agent.) Now, to the new review. This dishwasher really is quiet. At times it's hard to tell it's even running (there's a cool red LED dot that shines on the floor to let you know it's running). It's easy to load, and the 3rd rack is great for utensils, allowing you to remove the utensil holder on the 1st rack, freeing up room for more dishes. The 2nd rack is easily height adjusted to one of 3 positions, so tall glasses can fit. I washed a set of Hurricane glasses without issue. My only minor complaint at this point is the soap reservoir is a bit too far towards the middle of the door, making it difficult to add powdered dish soap without spilling, and it's hard (if not impossible) to know when the rnse agent reservoir is full, except when it starts to overflow all down the side of the door.

Usually the only way I know the dishwasher is on is seeing the little red light shine on the floor. The top rack for large utensils and knives is extremely handy; I use it for other items like Tervis cup lids and my sink stoppers. The middle rack 'rows' have varying width sizes; my large Tervis cups fits nicely in the first row, small bowls in the second, mugs and small Tervi cups in the 4th row, and the last row is great for small items and has a flip cover to keep them from rattling. The lower rack has plenty of room for dinner plates, salad plates and other bowls. The only negative is the bottom rack guides are stationary and creates a challenge to load pitchers and other baking dishes. The utensil basket has flip lids to help space the flatware. At first, I thought this to be inconvenient, but now I really like it. I keep one lid down for the flatware and one up for larger cooking utensils. One concern that was posed to me by the salespersons was that Bosch doesn't have a heated drying mode. I have not found this to be a problem at all; the dishes come out dry.
