    A huge compromise...

Why did I buy the Bose QC45. Comfort and convenience. They are so comfortable period. Convenience, Bluetooth is easy to use, less hassle than wired. Also, USBC, to use one cable for all my devices. Those are the reasons to buy these. The huge compromise, the sound quality. They sound so bad. So bad, so bad. They are so flat, no range, no body, it's a hollow listening experience. These sound sad. I'm sad when I use these for music. Bose Dynamic EQ is a joke. I use wired headphones at home for good sound, headphones like the Sony MDR 1AM2, and the Philips Fidelio X2HR, use a Fiio Q3 Dac/AMP. I don't need the Bose to sound the best because I listen to my best music at home with wires. I need the Bose to be easy to use, wirelessly, when I am not at home, or am not willing to break out wired headphones. I need the Bose to be convenient. And they are, and they are comfortable. What arrogance does Bose have to make these so limited. Give us an ANC off mode, give us a flat EQ, and give us adjustable EQ. These are very easy for Bose to do, but Bose thinks the average consumer isn't worth decency. Bose knows best and gives you no control. I do not know if I will keep these because they sound so bad... If Bose updates those things that many customers are asking for, then most likely. If they do not get updated, I'll love without Bluetooth again, I didn't have wireless headphones for years now, have these a shot. And now I am sad. For reference I am listening to Fishmans, Long Season, as I wrote this, and wondering why my brain hurts and the song sounds so perverted. So dead, so empty, souless, how did Bose make such a beautiful song so bad...

Hi, it's great to see that you love the comfort of the headphones, we tried to make sure they are as comfortable as our QC35II headphones are.

We're sorry for your concern regarding the sound quality, you can find some helpful information on ensuring the sound quality works for you here https://bose.life/3qu8Fgo.

To switch between the two settings on the fly, please take a look at the helpful tips here https://bose.life/3JrehRp.

We are always looking to improve our products, they will receive updates as needed to add new features or address concerns. These will be prompted when available through the Bose Music app.

Bose over priced headphones over beats

Giving these headphones a 2/5. For Bose headphone I am a bit disappointed. They feel and sound just like Beats. With the price of over $300 I would just go with beats which battery is up to 40+ Hours. Beats were $167 as for these were over $300. I was expecting something more wow but I am not feeling it.

    Great - For 9 Months

My first experience with these headphones was that they were very great, and super helpful to me. The noise cancelling is very good, and I like the option to switch that feature off to preserve battery life. The battery life is also quite long in my opinion. However, after about 9 months of using these, the right ear has been making an incredibly loud, high pitched squealing noise that goes on for about 10 seconds at a time. It SERIOUSLY hurts my ears, very bad. Otherwise, it is making popping and crackling sounds in the right ear. I did not drop them or squish them, and have always kept them in their protective case. I make sure to not overcharge them (keep them on the charger after they’ve finished), never turn the volume up all the way (in fact, only ever about 1/2 of the way at most), and always take care when putting them on and taking them off. I also cannot see any physical damage on the product. This is upsetting to me mainly because I finally decided to buy an expensive pair of headphones, rather than the less than $20 I usually spend. Again, it really was a great pair of headphones, but either they don’t work for long, or I got a faulty pair.

I understand that you've had trouble with them making a squealing noise, which is odd to happen out of nowhere. I like the Bose QuietComfort 45 Over-the-Ear Headphone for its comfort (in the real sense!). I think this is my fourth or fifth Bose headphone that I bought in the past few years. I was probably one of the early buyers of this product too. Though I very much like the sound quality, I am a totally disappointed with the function not only with the headset but also with the Bose Music App which is configured for using this headphone. I suspect that there is some issue with the way in which it is connecting over the Bluetooth or something else. When connected there are frequent interruptions when the sound breaks in between or go quiet, calls go on mute on its own, etc. The most annoying thing which I am noticing for the past few days is that the Bose Music app changes the volume of the headphone to the maximum automatically even when I reduce it to the minimum which hurts the ears, especially when you don't realize that the Bose App has changed the volume on its own. Apparently there is a bug in the app. I bought this headphone with a lot of expectation but totally disappointed after spending such a huge amount on it. I would return the headphone right away, if BestBuy allows it!!! I am so disappointed with this product, I don't even want to waste my time on repairing the headphone. Having said that, the experience with buying this product from BestBuy, from ordering through delivery was great, as always.

    Downgrade from QC 35 ii

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I bought these to replace a pair of Bose QC 35 ii headphones, which I had owned since 2017 before recently losing them. I thought this would be an upgrade, but so far they are making me miss the quality of my QC 35 ii's, and I am considering returning them. Pros 1. Sound Quality - The sound quality and clarity is superb, as with most Bose products. They sound slightly more powerful than the previous model. 2. Comfort - They feel almost indistinguishable compared to the previous model, which is a good thing. These are probably the most comfortable ANC headphones you can buy in my opinion. I wore the QC 35 ii's often in excess of 8+ hours per day, and usually forgot that I even had them on. These feel every bit as good so far. 3. ANC - The active noise cancellation seems to be slightly better than the previous model, but unfortunately you can't adjust the ANC level like you could on the previous model. Overall it does a really great job at cancelling out nuisance sounds and making you feel like you're in your own world when you have them on. Cons 1. Connectivity Issues - This is by far the biggest issue for me. The sound keeps randomly cutting out for a few seconds, and this seems to happen for almost every couple minutes. This is happening on all of my devices with or without the Bose Music App installed. I've been a Bose fan for years and absolutely loved the previous model, but this seems to be a huge big step back. I don't seem to be alone in this either, as I have seen reports of other people experiencing the same issue. This is really a shame for the price point of these headphones, and this was never an issue for me with the QC 35 ii's. 2. Build Quality - Materials... Although these feel slightly lighter than the 35 ii's, overall they feel like a much more cheaply made product. The padding on the headband is now a pleather/leather material compared to the Alcantara material used on the previous model. Although this doesn't negatively impact comfort, it does make the headphones feel less premium. Also, the outer shell of the ear cups are now plastic compared to metal on the 35 ii's. The buttons... The ANC mode button doesn't register my clicks every time. This is extremely annoying, and was never an issue on the 35 ii's. Also, the pause/volume buttons don't have consistent click feedback. For example, I can easily tell when I press the volume down or pause button, but when I click the volume up button, it feels like the button is stuck, which throws you off since it feels totally different. This by it self isn't a deal breaker, and I do realize this might just be a quality issue with the particular headphones I received, but it adds to the overall feeling of an inferior product. The QC 35 ii's felt like they were premium and indestructible, where as the QC 45's feel more like a cheaper pair of headphones that probably won't last as long. In Conclusion If you're thinking about buying these, I would seriously consider buying the QC 35 ii's, as the major drawbacks of this new model outweigh the hardly noticeable improvements of the QC 45's.

      Hey there,
I'm glad to hear that you have so many Pros for our new QC45 headphones!
I'm sorry that you seem to have had a few issues with them since you purchased. In regards to the build materials, the QC35 II's also have a plastic outer shell, the same as those that can be found on the QC45's.
To help get the connectivity issues resolved, I have included some great troubleshooting steps here: https://bose.life/3oXBgLy, which will help create a more stable Bluetooth connection.

    Unacceptable amount of RF/electronic interference

The QC45 is marginally more comfortable than the Sony XM4, with similar sound and noise cancellation strength. However, the headphones appear to be hobbled by a critical design flaw: inadequate RF shielding frequently causes a high-pitched static/crackle electronic noise when used in close proximity to many different types of electronic devices. The sensitivity to electronic interference is more severe than any bluetooth headset I have ever used. I am considering returning the item.

Bose sounds excellent as always. Headphones can't hold a charge even when off. Fully charged, turned them off. Turned them on two days later and they were already down to 80 percent. This has happened several times. They simply cannot hold a full charge even when not in use. Very frustrating considering how great they sound.

I decided to update my Sony XM3. That was a bad idea. Despite the Sonys being 5+ years old, they are far superior, especially in music quality. Music is flat on the Bose (no highs, no lows? must be Bose), and the equalizer does not help. Music quality is superior on Sony. These Bose aren’t even in the conversation. Noise canceling is even. Outside noise (aware mode) is better on the Bose. Call quality is better on the Bose.

These headphones started out fantastic - the app is simple to use and the headphones are VERY comfortable. I've no complaints on the audio quality - when it's not crackling. Almost two years later there is a severe audio crackling in both ear cups that occur randomly in all environments, quiet and slightly noisy. Unfortunately the problem started AFTER the 1 year warranty. After spending hours searching for solutions I've come across entirely too many other users having the exact same issue. I would not recommend the problem due to this audio problem.

I've owned these for about a year and a half now and regret my purchase. The Active Noise Canceling does not have a neutral mode. It is either piping sound in or actively blocking sound. This means in windy conditions these headphones become unusable and eardrum busting since they make the wind noise incredibly prevalent. There are also random bursts of static when listening to non-constant audio such as Duolingo. I have had my headphones replaced once due to the left ear rattling whenever I would move my head. The headphones do offer great sound when the other issues are not present.

Music - good. Phone calls - poor. Should have read online forums before buying; many people having issues with calls thru bluetooth, with some resorting to the corded connection when calling. I tested it with multiple calls and everyone is saying the same thing - my voice goes in/out. Apparently it has to do with specific BT connections (level of bitrate), so some may have no issue, but I do, and it's frustrating.
