I was so excited when I heard this speaker was coming out and the fact you could stereo pair with a second device for seamless left and right separation. However, after buying a second device for this purpose, it is anything but seamless. Whether you use the Bose Connect app to pair them or do it manually, it will take several attempts before it actually works (speakers will disconnect from each other at random) and sadly, audio cuts out between both which is very noticeable and happens frequently. I decided to look at RTINGS.com’s speaker review for this and saw that regardless if you have an iOS or Android, the out-dated Bluetooth version that it uses (4.2) has high latency for both which is very disappointing. I took both of them back and bought my first JBL speaker (Xtreme 2) and it’s phenomenal. What I find interesting is although it’s the same Bluetooth version (4.2), it works incredibly well. That said, the Xtreme 2 was released in 2018 and the Soundlink Flex was just two months ago.. Bose if you’re listening… you’re slacking. It’s almost 2022 and you’re using Bluetooth software from 2014 in not one, but in ALL of your products. A brand with it’s strong reputation and high price tag should offer a much better user experience for their customers.

Not durable at all. Only the rubber on the back is tough. The front of the speaker is very delicate. I only dropped it once from like 2 feet in my driveway.

Hello Rick, the Soundlink Flex has an IP67 rating, which means it is waterproof, splash resistant, and dust proof. You can immerse the speaker in water for up to 30 minutes at a depth of up to 3.3ft (1 m) It is designed to handle some Bruising such as a fall to the floor.
It is unusual to hear that your speaker has suffered damage from a drop like you have described.

When it's right out of the package, it's phenomenal. But my speaker is well-loved, or well-used, may be a better description. I've used the absolute crap out of this thing. As I should want or be able to do. But let me tell you this thing does NOT last with being well used. The first thing to start going was the charging port and battery life. I have to use barely used to brand-new cables to charge the thing, or it'll keep making repetitive noises at me. The speaker used to last all night for me. Now it'll barely make it 4-6 hours. Next thing to go is the sound. The volume is still fine (though the battery will suffer the louder that you have it). But the sound quality went to absolute crap somewhere along the way. And somehow I didn't notice until I started using earbuds to listen to music again. Suddenly, I'm noticing all these beautiful nuances in newer albums that I'd only used this speaker to listen to. All these beautiful backing vocals and melodies that I had NEVER heard while listening to these albums with this speaker, that I was able to hear with cheap 30$ dollar earbuds. It's crazy because I thought I was getting a better quality listening experience with a relatively expensive BOSE speaker, but I guess not. I'll never buy Bose again. Doesn't last and doesn't provide a lasting quality listening experience.

They sound is awesome but that’s it! I gave them a 2 because they sound good. Battery life sucks always have to charge them. I bought two of them and the pairing is a pain in the a..! If someone calls you they stay connected to your phone but the music won’t play through them it plays out of your phone. You have to shut power off to them shut your Bluetooth off of your phone and start all over. And then the party mode doesn’t always connect. I waited about six months to give this review. Yes I use them all the time (or try to). Garbage don’t buy. I’m going to try something else after I take a hammer to them.

I have been waiting for a speaker like this from Bose and it looked like they finally delivered. I have owned a Soundlink Mini, Soundlink Revolve and Soundlink Revolve +. I also have a Soundboks, several JBL bluetooth speakers and a Minirig Mini. I scoured the internet for reviews of this speaker but it was too early I guess and I bought this blind. I know what to expect for a speaker this size so please believe me when I say that this speaker was a huge disappointment. There is nothing resembling the "powerful bass" that some have described. No defined midrange or highs. All I could think of is that this is a waterproof floating kitchen radio. I know Bose can make great sounding small speakers and this aint it. I didn't want to do it but I returned it and got a JBL Charge 5, sound quality blows this out of the water. I won't be buying another mid-size speaker for another couple of years so hopefully Bose can get it together and produce a real winner next time. I gave two stars because of its build quality. Soundwise, meh.

Sound quality is very good but the biggest drawback is the technology needed to pair more then one speaker. I purchased two for my patio and after numerous attempts to pair the speakers together, I sporadically succeeded. I finally gave up and went into Best Buy for advice. The rep I met with told me that is a common complaint for these speakers and suggested I return them and buy Sony instead.

Sounds Great - Many Connection Issues

Sounds fantastic but has constant connection issues. I have modern Apple devices that don’t have these problems with anything else. However, nearly every time I try to use this speaker, it will connect but not play any sound or fail to connect altogether. I typically have to forget the device and attempt to reconnect to it, which also fails periodically. Additionally, the app is useless, so I recommend ignoring their setup instructions. Unless you want to deal with 5 minutes of connection frustration every time you use it, buy something different. The only saving grace is that it sounds very good, though the sound is very directional and is significantly impacted by being in close proximity to other objects.

Hi Samm, I'm sorry to hear the SoundLink Flex speaker didn't quite match your expectations. The speaker's battery life is 12 hours at typical listening volumes. Using the speaker at more extreme volumes will reduce the playback time to as little as a few hours, as higher volumes require more power from the battery. I hope this information is useful! Hi Tarvis,

Thanks for leaving your thoughts on the SoundLink Flex speaker. Sorry to hear you've had issues with using the app for Party mode. An alternative would be to press the buttons on the speaker to engage it. Details can be found here: https://bose.life/3sjDIAa.

With regard to bass, some apps like Spotify offer built in EQ options, so while we have no intentions of bringing EQ to the product currently, there are options available for adjustments. Depending on the device you are using, there may also be built-in EQ options available to allow you to adjust the audio frequencies. Most Android devices for example offer built in EQ sliders.

Been great, but just recently died. Still turns on (LEDs illuminate, buttons function normally) but no audio whatsoever, not even like the usual robot voice when you turn it on to tell you battery remaining. Just before this happened I was playing music at a low volume inside my home and heard a pop. I thought something fell off a shelf in the other room initially. Bose support says $80 to repair :( I've had it for less than two years. I feel like warranty should last long than one year. Especially for a name brand Bose product, which is the entire reason I went with Bose.

      Hello,
We're glad you and your husband are enjoying the audio of your speaker. In a typical usage, the SoundLink Flex battery lasts up to 12 hours. As with any battery-operated device, battery performance can vary based on a number of different factors. These include the type of content being played, the volume, and the surrounding temperature. Listening to music at less than 50% volume ensures a longer battery life, whereas increasing the volume past 65% of max decreases the life of the battery at a faster rate. If you require any additional support for your husbands speaker, do not hesitate to contact Bose directly via https://bose.life/2kOgS12 for assistance.
