Eh...
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love having ear buds that i dont have to take out every time someone starts talking to me. The sound quality is good and the battery life is exceptional for small buds. These are wonderful for folks who may have had a hard time finding buds that fit their ears. These are not, however, comfortable to wear for extended periods of time. My ears start to ache from the way they squeeze to stay in place. But my ears are more sensitive than most folks. My biggest complaint is the connectivity. These constantly disconnect from my phone and/or the buds lose sync with eachother. It's incredibly obnoxious to have to manually reconnect them all the time and at $300 it's unacceptable.

Like adding a soundtrack to your daily life
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I absolutely love these earbuds! If you’re looking for something that will add a soundtrack to your daily life, this is it. You’ll still be able to hear everything around you while enjoying your favorite tunes. Perfect for hiking, biking, walking, onewheel, shopping, and just going through your daily activities. If you’re looking for something with noise canceling, this is not a product you should be looking at as it’s the complete opposite. My only complaints are the microphone is completely awful, in fact it’s unacceptably awful. Also, the charging case isn’t able to be charged wirelessly without a $49 additional purchase of a case protector to go over top. At this price point it should’ve come with a wireless charging case and a way better microphone.

Sound great. Overall impressed with the design.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These new Bose open ear buds are pretty awesome. The only issue I've had is the first pair I bought had some static issues randomly. I meant to take them back for an exchange right away but thought maybe I'd wait for a firmware update. Once there was an available update, I installed it and it seemed to fix the issue. However, shortly after the update the right bud stopped charging and connecting. I exchanged for a new pair and have had zero issues thus far. The sound quality is absolutely incredible for being open-ear buds. They connect immediately and and are easy to pair. They charge to full fairly fast and seem to last for a few hours on a full charge. They take some time getting used to. At first they feel a little awkward to put them on but you get used to it pretty fast. I find that sometimes I forget they are even on. With that said, sometimes, after several hours of wearing them, they can feel like they are pinching your ears but a slight adjustment fixes it quickly. Overall I'm quite happy with them. On a side note, my wife bought a pair of the white/silver model and has had zero issues with hers. She uses hers with her Mac and iPhone and I use mine with an Android phone and an LG TV.

Comfortable and great sound
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When they work, they work great. I’ve had a few disconnecting issues, but nothing I couldn’t fix on my own. I don’t like that you have to use the Bose app to pair them. I can’t connect them to my kindle paperwhite. Other than that they are fantastic. Easy to put on, stay put, comfortable even with multiple piercings in each ear.

Good. Wireless charging would've made it perfect.
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like it. It serves the purpose of enjoying music while still being aware of the surroundings. It's like the old Bose Soundwear around the neck, but lighter, more comfortable, and fits in the pocket. And it looks cool! :) One star off (debating two) because I'm disappointed it doesn't support wireless charging like my QuietComfort Earbuds. For the price, you would expect that feature, which is available to most other products nowadays. :(

Not for me but still great.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love Bose products and they never disappoint. I really like the design but don’t really like how they fit as much, I think they would’ve done a lot better in that aspect. The sound is amazing though. If you are looking for noise canceling this are not for you (which it says). Even at the highest volume you can still hear some compared to the AirPods.

Favorite daily earbuds!
|Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted to try open earbuds and bone conduction headsets so I first tried the Shokz open run pros, they were okay but sound leaks a lot at a medium level of volume. So I opted to these and they are my favorite, I reach for these every single day over my airpod pros 2nd gen. The sound quality is great for open earbuds and bass is pretty decent but the comfort is amazing; no ear fatigue whatsoever it’s pretty scary how you can forget they’re even clipped onto your ears. Overall, I would say they are fantastic but the price is a little steep that’s about it.

Excellent "OPEN EAR" Earbuds!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love these Bose Ultra buds and was really surprised how they made the open ear concept work really well. My experience with them are pairing them with my Android devices and will be solely based on that. I cannot stress enough that these Bose are OPEN EAR earbuds and not ones you shove into your ears. I notice a lot of laughable responses to why ANC isn't offered and sound quality is not the same and their "other" pair. That is not a fair and is doing an Apples to Oranges comparison. Coming from someone who daily drives Buds Pro2 and WF1000XM5 and changing to these took me a little bit to get used to. First, I was a little reluctant about the way they "clip" onto your ear lobe and thought there is no way it'll hold up. I was dead wrong. After putting them on they are super lightweight and feel amazing. No stress on the ears from the weight hanging on your ear and absolutely no discomfort after a 5 hour work session. They feel like they are not even there. Perfect 10/10 for comfort. With that being said though, I feared even slightly moving might get them to fall off but the way they clip holds them securely. I could walk, head bang and even turn my head fast and they stayed right in place. Off topic funny fact, my co-workers when seeing me with them on for the first time thought I either had weird piercings or some new design hearing aid. Battery lasted my work shift and charged quickly in the case. One thing to note is that the case is only charged via USB-C and not wireless charging compatible. Sound is a solid 8/10. As they do not go into the ear canal, they are close enough to literally blast music into them. Using the Bose App, you can control the EQ to your specific liking. I found Mids and Treble to be great and Bass, although lacking, not bad at all. This is to be expected as sounds will leak to the environment. In a quiet environment, this instance my house, I had to turn the sound down to ~25% or the people around me can hear exactly what I am listening to. At 60-75% (which is what I preferred), my friend could hear what I was listening to up to ~10ft away with no problems. I also went to an outdoor mall and with the sounds around me, @ 75%, no issues hearing not only my music, but also my surroundings. In a store, I had to turn it down to about 40% to prevent other shoppers from listening in. Calls were okay at best. When receiving a phone call, the other line sounded very muffled to me no matter what settings I tried. It wasn't the best as well vice versa. Though my friends said they could understand me fine, it sounded like I was in a "bubble" to them. These have an IPX4 rating so if it starts to rain cover them up. App is not feature rich, but it is helpful. EQ is the best thing there to tailor to your needs. There is also Immersion, but to me it sounded more like 3D audio. It's nice, but I had no use for it. Also if you have it on, it'll drain your battery faster.

Quality sound and comfortable
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Setup: Quickest setup that I recently experienced. I scanned the QR code and it took me right to the app I needed to start my earbud setup. I used my Apple ID to do my signup which made it even quicker since I didn’t have to add any information. The app walked me through the entire process. Wearing Earbuds: The comfort of the ultra earbuds are unheard of. They are light and really feel like I’m not wearing them. When I’m doing my tasks, I sometimes don’t even remember that I’m wearing the earbuds. Putting on the earbuds was not hard but it is different than what I’m used to. I think I understand why it’s designed the way it is and I like it. The fact that it just clips on my ears instead of shoving it in my ear is better for comfort. Appearance Of Earbuds: I’m getting use to the look of the Earbuds because I think it gives an earring look. Obviously it’s not shiny and I’m sure people will know it’s not an earring. Sound Quality Of Earbuds: I love the immersion sound mode is very good. When I have it on, by me just turning my head it sounds like the sound is moving. The immersion mode makes me feel like I’m in the middle of the studio. I can’t see why I would turn the immersion mode off because it’s that much better. Phone Usability: With the iOS the app and the earbuds are a great pair. I have no problem using it for calls or music. I think the controls are similar to another brand that I was using so I don’t have a learning curve for the functionality. Overall Experience: I now have my new go to earbuds. The Bose Ultra Open Earbuds are my new favorite and I will not be leaving home without them. It’s lightweight and sounds great for calls and music. I plan on using this for my bike rides because they are comfortable and seemed to stay on even with aggressive moving. My only dissatisfaction is that they do not charge on my wireless charger. I think it’s a missed opportunity but I will deal with it.

Bose Open Earbuds: Unique Experience!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As most are probably aware, the Bose open earbuds have certainly gathered its share of attention since its release, especially given that they present an interesting alternative to the ubiquitous closed style of earbuds. In addition to their unique barrel shape, the Bose open earbuds are certainly still positioned that they can still provide quality sound. As an audio enthusiast, I was quite excited to see how these new earbuds would sound and perform. Upon receiving the earbuds, setup was rather straightforward as one would expect. In the box, there is a USB Type-C to A charging cable that is extremely short in length. Unfortunately, there are no written instructions or a quick guide, though there is a QR code directing you to the Bose Music application to complete setup. At the very least, I would have loved a quick guide on positioning the earbuds. Nonetheless, there is a section in settings once you proceed through setup on your phone that will show you how to wear the earbuds. Once setup is complete, the main menu should also be self explanatory: you can change several options such as set your preferred EQ settings, toggle between stereo and immersion modes. Additionally, there is an immersive audio setting, which alters the sound based on if you are stationary or are on the go. You can also create your own shortcut too and link it to either earbud. Overall, I found the application will seldom be used once you have configured the sound to your preference. It will also try and ask you to create an account, which you can skip. It is not necessary. Lastly, on my Sony Xperia V III, there were some other settings for the earbuds that were not listed within the application. For example, I could toggle the Qualcomm APX codec adaptive audio setting, as well as specifically enable/disable audio or phone calls. Moving on, I would like to discuss a few observations I noted during my initial testing. First and foremost, I want to caution people that there will be an adjustment period with these earbuds; they will not only sound different, but will require patience while you fit them to your ears. This is especially true as most people will undoubtedly be coming standard earbuds, so keep an open mind. For me personally, I think the most difficult aspect I had was just trying get these situated correctly into my ear. With the button facing up, these should wrap around ear lobe and into the ear. By habit, I wanted to mash these into my ears but they are not designed as such; instead, they rest right before the ear canal. Unfortunately, there is barely any room to adjust these up or down, as if they are too low or high (within maybe 1/8th of inch depending on your ear size), they pop out. The second issue that I noticed is that my right ear is slightly different in size; by placing finger on either earbud and moving it up and down, I could tell that my left earbud was snug and in place. However, the right side was either not hooking correctly around the inner ear due to either the thickness of my earlobe and/or size of the whole ear; despite aligning them multiple times in the mirror. Lastly, this brings me to the third issue that if the tip of the earbud was a bit more pointed instead of crescent shaped, or if there was a retractable adjustment on the outside, it would have helped alleviate my issue. However, once I adjusted it as best I could, neither earbud fell out of my ear. Additionally, they are quite comfortable; weight wise they are perfect and feel lighter than my other pairs of earbuds. Overall, just be prepared for a lengthy adjustment period. As for sound quality, the open earbuds sound exactly as expected, placing more emphasis on the treble and middle frequencies. If I could describe the sound, I would say that the placement is more up and center as opposed to the sound being more down into your ear canal. Additionally, the bass is light as expected but just enough so that there is still a semblance of the whole song. Even manually adjusting the bass EQ did not yield any drastic change; between its highest setting (+10) to the lowest (-10) I could barely hear a frequency difference (immersive audio was off). With more bass-oriented songs, I was straining to hear any kind of subtle difference while toggling the EQ, but perhaps your hearing will be better than mine. Switching to more classical and soundtrack music, I was even more impressed with the cohesiveness that I could hear; instruments were extremely clear and separation was quite good. I was also quite impressed with how loud these earbuds can get; listening at around 50% on my Sony Xperia, I didn’t feel the need to go louder. Violins and choir vocals were perfectly placed up and center in the soundstage. As for my surroundings, I could still make out conversation, though I did have to drop my volume slightly on my phone in some areas. I believe most should be quite pleased with the sound quality. Clarity was superb and everything sounded consistent across a multitude of genres, especially classical or jazz where their dynamics are still intact and not crushed by compression. Additionally, as expected, the bass is dialed back in favor of highs and middle frequencies. Overall, I think if you set your expectations accordingly, you will be quite happy with the quality, though I still want to caution those that are coming from closed earbuds that the music will sound slightly pulled back, perhaps even a bit thin, but this is normal. In conclusion, the Bose open earbuds provide an interesting alternative to typical closed earbuds; allowing you to enjoy both your music and your surroundings. Additionally, the sound quality was still there maintaining clarity and consistency throughout a variety of genres. Physically, they are certainly unique in design, which despite my initial difficulty with my ears, were extremely comfortable afterwards. They never fell out of my ear nor did I experience any discomfort. As mentioned previously, the open earbuds will require some patience to get used to them, which is why I feel that they are uniquely positioned to certain people; not everyone will like them or their sound. If you are certainly patient and would like to try them, they are indeed worth a look, provided you are content with the caveats I have outlined here.

Exceptional Sound Quality and Comfort, it's Bose!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Bose Ultra Open Earbuds I must say, they have exceeded my expectations in both sound quality and comfort. The audio experience is truly immersive, with crisp highs, deep lows, and a well-balanced midrange. The noise isolation feature works well but not totally providing an uninterrupted listening experience in noisy environments due to the design of the earbuds. The earbuds fit snugly on my ears, and the ergonomic design ensures they stay in place during various activities. One notable aspect is the impressive battery life; I can enjoy hours of music without worrying about constant recharging. The touch controls are intuitive and responsive, allowing for easy navigation and call management. The sleek and minimalistic design adds a touch of sophistication, and the durable build quality gives confidence in their longevity. While they come with a higher price tag, the Bose Earbuds deliver on their promise of premium audio performance, making them a worthwhile investment for music enthusiasts who prioritize quality and comfort.

Super comfortable open design
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently got the new Bose Ultra Open Earbuds. I was intrigued by a new design type in an earbud, at least as far as I am aware of. Plus, Bose is a leader in great sounding audio products. The Ultra Open Earbuds come in a small box that contains the earbuds, a charging case, and a short USB-A to USB-C charging cord. On the back of the packaging, you’ll see the logos for made for iPhone & iPad, as well as the logo for works with android. Besides these mobile platforms, you can pretty much pair them with anything that has a Bluetooth option. Upon opening the package, the first thing you are directed to is the Bose music app to complete an initial set up and a likely software update. The app walks you thru the set up with clear instructions, basically all that’s needed is to put the charging case and earbuds into pairing mode and the app will find them, then do the rest. One thing that the initial set up will highlight is Bose’s immersive audio feature. The app will guide you thru a little demo, letting you experience the difference between the stereo audio format and two types of immersive audio, both of which sound better in plain English. Per the app, the immersive modes enhance and depth to whatever you are listening to. If you’re like me, you’ll set it to on and leave it alone from there. After pairing with the app is complete, you’ll be able to set/change how your earbuds sound thru the equalizer to add/reduce bass, mid range, & treble and set how you want them to react to the noise level of your environment thru the auto volume option. You’ll also be able to change some functionality of the button on each earbud thru the shortcuts options, and get tips on how to get the most out of the earbuds. Of course you can use them to do everything that any other ear bud can do, such as listen to music or any other media on your device, answer/end or decline phone calls, etc. The most standout thing about these earbuds is the design and the way you wear them. They behave like a clip on, wrapping around and behind your ear, without applying any pressure at all. They are a delight to wear and are super comfortable. If you don’t like the feeling of an earbud in your ear, these will work perfect for you. They also don’t feel like they could ever fall out even though you can barely even feel that you have them on. Also, because they have an open design, you can stay aware of other sounds going on around you. When you first take the earbuds out of the charging case, they will automatically connect to the last device they were connected to as long as it’s within range. The product specs on Bose’s website rate the battery life at up to 7.5 hours, but I’ve really only gotten 4.5 hours before needing to recharge while using them during work for a mix of listening to music and taking phone/zoom calls. Music sounds great, especially in immersive audio, and the work perfectly well during phone calls also. While they perform great at their core function of listening to various media, so do lots of other earbuds. Due to the design, there obviously is no noise cancelling functionality, although the auto volume feature will ensure you can hear whatever media you are listening to since it will automatically change the volume based on the sound happening around you. As I said earlier, you can pair these with any/all your Bluetooth devices, but they will not switch automatically between your iPhone and iPad (for example). You can switch them in the app or but creating a shortcut and using the button on each earbud. The Bose Ultra Open Earbuds are a great product with its one killer feature being the open design and the comfort of wearing them without really feeling that you are wearing an earbud. The design eliminates some functionality found in other earbuds at similar price points. These are pretty pricey at $299. They sound great and have a great design but you are paying for Bose. The decision whether these are worth the price could come down to the usual devices you use and tradeoffs on functionality.

Missing a few minor features, but still great!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First off, I had a little bit of visual design shock if you will, the first time I pulled the earphones out of their case. I had this same reaction when I saw people wearing earphones from the fruit company. Out of the box you get the earphones, a case/charger, a USB-C charging cable (Very short one at that), and a manual which you don’t really need as long as you download the app. Speaking of app, yes, like everything else in the world, you will need the app to pair, customize, etc… So turn on your camera app, and go download the app. Pairing is done via the app. It will ask for permission to access Bluetooth, and from there, it locates the earphones. It will ask you to create an account, and from there you go through a few tutorials on how to put them on, how to create custom listening presets, and how to press the drums buttons to fast forward, go to previous tack, answer calls, and control the volume. Once the shock of how the earphones look wore off, I found myself watching the tutorial on how to place the earphones into your ear and wrap it around, and I’ll be honest, it took a few tries. I thought I had to shove the sound emitting part of the earphone into my ear, and then wrap it around, but nope. You simply let it almost sit on your inner ear, and then wrap the drum around. I felt like I was trying to put on earrings. It didn’t feel natural, and still takes some time put on again after I had them off for a while. Once the earphones are on however, you’re transported into sound that is different that what you’ve experienced before. You can create different modes based on the occasion like relaxing, working out, etc… but for me, there’s only one mode I need, and that’s immersion. Switching between stereo, still, and immersion, I could tell the difference immediately. After hearing still and immersion, stereo sounds like I’m listening through a cheap pair of headphones. It’s that different. Still is good for those who want to sit and be “still.” Immersion makes you feel like you’re at a concert. The app has an EQ for you audiophiles that need to customize their sound. You can also set two shortcuts for either buttons. You can choose from a few options. I have one for siri, and the other for cycling through modes. I had the earphones on for about an hour, and they didn’t feel uncomfortable. Almost to a point that I forgot that I had them on. I don’t see anything mentioning them being water resistant or waterproof in any way, so I’m going to reason that they’re not IP68. That’s also disappointing considering these would be perfect to workout in without worrying that sweat will ruin them. Another thing that I miss is having a “find my earbuds” function. All in all the earphones take a while to get used to them, but once they’re on, it’s hard to go to other earphones. Bose has really done a great job with the Open Earbuds Ultra.

Great Sound Unique Fit
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Bose Ultra Open Earbuds are the newest premium set to be released by Bose. I'll start with the unique thing about these buds, and thats the design. These are "Open-Ear buds", not In-Ear buds, which is what a majority of buds on the market typically are. This means that these buds don't go into the ear canal and actually sit on the ridge of your ear outisde the canal, and the barrel shaped part hooks around your outer ear to hold it in place. This makes them sit and look almost like a futuristic ear ring or piercing which doesn't hurt or pinch you at all, but will feel awakward at first, especially if you have always used in ear style buds. Typical of Bose the sound quality is great, I expected nothing less from them, whether you're listening to music or a podcast or just answering a call, the sound quality will be crisp and clear. This set of buds also has great immersive audio stereo technology, which enhances your listening experience. The coolest mode was the Motion Immersion, which adjusts the audio quality to make it sound like the direction of your audio aligns with the motion of your head, so if you were listenining to a band play live and turned your head to the left you will hear the music more prominently on your right side and viceversa, so you're getting a true 360° audio experience. Connecting these buds was easy, just install the Bose Music app, open the case, and the app detects the buds almost immediately, it took me less than a a minute. Through the app you can adjust your EQ and Immersion settings as well as track the battery life of the buds and case. These buds have an IPX4 rating so they are water resistant to sweat great and light rain. The battery life is 7.5hrs which is great for long uses. I like these buds but I have a few gripes with them that keep them from being perfect in my eyes (or should I say ears lol). While the sound quality is clear, the bass is underhwleming, even at the highest setting its not as deep as some other premium buds I own, which was a bit of a bummer since I like bass heavy music. Also, since these are open-ear design it means they dont have Active Noise Canceling. The fit will take sometime to get used to and will vary by person, but in my experience when using these buds at work for a 5 day week with over 4hrs of continuous use each of those days, I found myself constantly adjusting them because it felt like they were sliding off, despite them being in place. The Bose Ultra are a good set of premium buds, if not a bit weird to wear at first. For the sound quality alone I would recommend them.
