    I purchased this printer at bestbuy in 01/19 for home use. I haven't used it much - printed less than 100 pages since purchase. In 04/19, after not using it for a while, I tried to print a doc and it failed. I checked and it had no power though it was plugged in. I switched to 5 different working outlets - didn't help. BestBuy advised I contact brother support. They sounded good, sent out a "replacement" in days. This factory refurbrished device cant print more than 4 pages of 20 page doc. It does the 4 then it hangs and then reprints the 4. Seriously?! I had brother printer once that worked I fine so I thought this was a good decision. I guess not. So I'm stuck with a brand new printer that wont power up and a factory refurbished printer that wastes my paper and time. Should I even bother to contact brother again? I don't know... I dont I want another refurbished device. So annoying.

    Got an defective product

    First thing first, the online chat service quality is bad. waited long time to join the queue then got disconnected two times and never able to join the long queue again for 10 mins which just make you simply give up. 1: The printer I got cannot print the full content of A4 sized pdf file. It will missing 1cm of content on edge of an A4 paper. 2: the scan function cannot capture the full content of a A4 paper you put in. I will miss a few columns of content as well. Tried to reset the printer and not helpful. The printer I got is just and defective product and now very hard to get in touch with the support team. Will never use best buy again. You may wonder why I want to reach them after such a long time after I purchase this product. Because initially I can live with the printing issue as long as I use a big margin of the pdf or word file I want to print. So it will able to print all the content in the page. However, today I need to use the scan function for some important documents, it turns out the scanner cannot capture the full content of a A4 paper. For me this is not acceptable. Unfortunately, I missed the return period of this production then I am trying to reach their tech support. The reality is you will never able to reach a human support through the phone number and the live chat just keep cut me off the connection. Very well done.

    Great printer, but missing accessories

    This printer has the features I needed, and was easy to set up. Easy, that is, but the box was missing the printer drum and toner cartridge. I had to get this going right away, so I bought the missing pieces from Amazon. BTW, the web interface has so few features that the printer can't be remotely managed effectively.

    Sucks as a wireless printer...

    Randomly decides when to connect or not. Printer prints great and all. But it seems quite random when it wants to work, it shows offline FREQUENTLY. Let it sit for a few hours, do nothing, it will show up. Then disappear. Then show up. No other wireless devices have this issue. Literally the worst printer I've ever used.

    Cover is Open - error appears constantly

    I bought this as a new printer in April 2019. Am trying to replace the original new laser toner today for the first time and am constantly getting the error message in the display saying "Cover is Open" even though all my doors are closed properly. I tried closing multiple times but it still appears. There is no option to override this message and now my printer would not print at all. The "Cover is open" seems to be a common issue with Brother printers due to the faulty sensors. I have just used this for 1.5 Yrs and now I need to purchase another printer. This printer has no value for money at all.

    Lose of connection

    It loses connection with the router every time it goes to sleep mode. I don’t recommend it. I called the costumer service couple times about the issue, they didn’t respect the warranty, and refused to change it. They claimed I have issue with my router even thought My router work perfectly with all my wifi devices including the old HP printer. Customer service are very rude and carless.

I understand that you spoke with our customer service team and the router may be the issue. Your Brother machine will only connect to the 2.4 GHz wireless band.     Worked for one week

    Was excited about the simplicity and had heard great things about this printer. It worked for exactly one week then had an error that could not remove. I tried everything humanly possible to get it going again. Eventually I had to give up and grab a different one and went for the small HP all-in-one. Has not failed me yet.

    Easy to setup and works great whenever it manages to stay connected to the network. The toner that came with it ran out really fast and the new toner isn't cheap (45+tax). I purchased this for our home office and homeschooling but I would not recommend it because of the connectivity issues. I want to be able to print without having to fuss with the printer every time. Now, a year later it's going to the recycler because it won't install on my computers.

      Hi, I am sorry you are experiencing an issue with connecting your printer to your computer. Stated page yields for genuine Brother cartridges are based on the ISO testing standards. The number of pages that can be printed with a cartridge is affected by several factors, including paper size, number of pages per print job, amount of print on each page, font size, and print content (graphics, charts, etc.). Print jobs with large text fonts, graphics, charts, and/or large amount of solid coverage (black or any given color) will use much more toner and will shorten the life of the toner cartridge.     I bought this printer for my home-school student because I was sick of getting scammed on printer cartridges that only printed 50 pages before "needing replaced." Unfortunetly while this thing worked great for the first year, no joke it broke down the day the warranty was up. Less than 2 years after purchase it gives constant error messages and spills ink on the pages. Brother's customer support "helpfully" provided a address two cities away were I can pay to have this junk fixed. I have a better idea, I won't buy anymore Brother products.

    Very nice printer no drivers for it on web site directed to use. I did get the drivers but I can’t print from the internet, I have to save to computer so I can print. I need updated drivers can you help.

    Brother Printer Died After 5 Months

    Triggers Circuit Breaker

    The printer, by default, triggers my AFCI circuit breaker. These are required in new construction. Brother support, after about an hour on hold, confirms that this is a known and non-advertised defect in every printer of this model and gives instructions on how to enable "Low-Power Mode". Brother states that these instructions are only ever given on the phone and will not produce an FAQ on this process. After that does not work, and another hour on hold, Brother recommends getting an even longer extension cord (that I would pay for) than I already had. After this still did not work, and confirming that my circuit breaker was function correctly and it was their printer not operating to modern building code specs, Brother said that there was nothing that they could do ended my case. This product is effectively a lemon and Brother's customer support for a known defect is unacceptable. I would not buy any of their printers until they figure out how to make them work on modern wiring.

    Instructions are not formatted correctly to set up printer. Call the Brothers Number and although Message states, working Remotely. Ha! No one answers phone. Ive been on hold for 2 hours. So now I have a printer that is sitting there USELESS!
