Solid Small Business Color Laser Printer
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been using my Brother MFC-L371CW for about 5 days now. I am a small business owner with a home office. This is a solid small business laser printer. It's footprint is quite large, almost double the size and 3X the weight of my color inkjet printer. But it was worth the space I made for it. It's nice to have the ability to print high quality color laser images and this unit doesn't disappoint. It's not at the level of a print shop machine but this unit produces output that I would put right in the middle of color inkjet printing and printshop quality. Setting the machine up was pretty simple once I removed all of the tape and guides that the printer shipped with. The quick start guide had lots of pictures and was easy to follow (this isn't my first printer setup). I have a Mac Pro and it was "Plug 'n Play" (although technically, there was no plugging it in). It took all of 45 seconds to get it up and running on my WiFi and about as much time for my Mac to find it and install drivers. The printer menu offers a pretty decent user experience and it's relatively easy to understand. It prints quickly and quietly, far more quiet than my Color Inket. The flatbed scanner works well. I grabbed a few different items to scan, from a faded credit card, to my drivers license, a couple of baseball cards, a receipt and a black and white resume and they all scanned well. I also tried the document feeder to scan a contract and it scanned the image quickly and at a high quality. The output of the printer and scanner are good enough for me to feel comfortable sharing with clients and partners.

Outstanding Laser Printer ; Hi-Def Comparison
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After two decades of getting suckered into buying cheap Inkjet printers I finally got fed up with that business model that give away the razor, only to repeatedly sell you the blades, on a perpetual basis. A recent Epson was the last straw. I’d regularly been using less expensive 3rd party ink, much to Epson’s chagrin. It works fine, is a fraction of the price, and employs reusable cartridges. Well my XP-410 died, nozzles kept clogging, head needing constant alignment, etc, replaced with XP-440. What a mistake that was. What they don’t tell you is 3rd party ink still works, UNTIL you update the Epson firmware, which absolutely BRICKS the printer from working when you try. What a blessing in disguise that return was. Enter an affordable laser jet printer, namely the Brother MFC-L3710-CW. Setup couldn’t have been any easier, with clearly marked tabs that require removal, and a large printed step-by-step guide (unnecessary). The color LCD screen displays an input keyboard for network information. Holy smokes!! What a difference!! I can’t stop showing ppl the differences between inkjet to laser jet, particularly for my guitar tablature where there is a plethora of fine detail that’s I didn’t realize just wasn’t clearly legible before. I can see the small numbers and symbols now clearly without ink smudges from previous inket technology. Last night my wife’s comment was that this printer makes “ high-definition prints”. See attached pictures to see if you agree (Brother laster on the left, Epson inkjet on the right, prev HP DeskJet for comparison) PROS + super high-quality, high-definition like prints + applicable for small business and home office + deceptively simple setup, WiFi network and go + fast image processing, 19 ppm print speed + driverless installation, automatic printer ID + 3.7-inch color touchscreen, ease of operation + 250-sheet paper tray + easy network setup, web app cloud integration + iPrint & Scan iOS and Mobile Printing works well + scan & email via individual tray, or document feeder + affordable price, wish I’d bought years ago + solid build construction + quiet operation CONS - size, it’s got multiple trays and fold outs - larger footprint than toy-sized inkjet printers - weight, too heavy for wire closet racks CONCLUSION : I’m really very happy with my first Brother printer. I wish i’d taken the plunge years ago, everything we’ve printed since then would’ve been of much higher quality. So thankful to finally reward my family with an affordable laser printer and prints that we can forever be proud of.

Still new but a great decision so far.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was so nervous about getting this because I was not familiar with brother printers. It has been an easy transition so far. Prints are quick and crisp sharp prints. It's been a short time but it's been one of the better purchases I've had. If i have to complain about anything the top feed mechanism is a bit bulky. I don't know where else I would have moved it to on a printer so compact though. The slot where the paper exits has a fold out clip to hold paper before it slides out altogether. That piece should be more prominent. If I dont flip it out to catch paper then it spills out onto the ground. If i leave it out I'm worried such a small piece would get caught aon something. Still new so may just leave it open and see if that happens.

Brother - MFCL3710CW Wireless color all in one
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Good overall. Sometimes its a little slow to connect but that may have more to do with wifi than anything else. I wish the unit were a bit more compact - it's quite large for my small home office but offers everything that I need to do business.

A Good Color Printer/Scanner/Copier
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Whats in the box ————————— Brother MFC-L3710CW Wireless Color All-In-One Printer CD-ROM All Drivers/Software Quick set-up guide and User's guide Starter Black/Cyan/Yellow/Magenta toner cartridges (approx.1,000 pages each, ISO/IEC 19798 (Letter/A4)) Pros —— 1. You can use generic cartridges !! 2. Very Fast, Excellent quality color pictures 3. Easy setup, Wifi capable on 5Ghz 4. 50 paper document feeder and 250 paper tray 5. Solid build quality 6. AirPrint, Google Cloud Print, Brother iPrint&Scan, Mopria, Wi-Fi Direct support 7. Windows 10 detects the printer on network automaticall.y Cons ——— 1. Heavy and its big 2. Duplex printing 3. A bit pricey? Review ——— SETUP Setup is straight forward, first make sure that the toners are fixed correctly and the toner protective covers are taken off. These are the orange tabs on the toners Just click on the wifi button and then select the wifi and setup using your wifi password The printer integrates with popular cloud services like one drive, dropbox, google drive so that you can upload your scanned documents. The cartridge that is provided allowed for printing 1000 pages, based on my research this one is not chip protected so you can buy generic cartridges once you are done. PRITING The document can be fed from tray or from the document feeder. The printing itself is pretty fast at 19 pages per minute. Window 10 automatically deters the printer on network on my computer and no setup is actually needed. Google Cloud print is supported as well as AirPrint, I could print directly from the iPad or android phone which is a good convince feature. SCAN & COPY Due the document feeder the scanning and copying feature is a breeze. You can feed document and scan directly to google cloud or to an email or to a computer that is connected to a network Coming from a wired black and white canon printer, this one is a big and a valuable upgrade for me, to be able to wirelessly scan, copy and print… I recommend this.

Plenty of features, wish it offered auto duplex
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The MFC-L3710CW is a decent low-range all in one color laser printer – it can copy, scan, print and fax. At first glance, it’s quite a large size for what it offers: measuring approximately 16”x16”x18” and weighing about 50 lbs. It connects very well to my home Wi-Fi and setting up basic settings with my PC was very easy. It even came with an installation CD (which I am still able to read on my older desktop PC). The copy function was easy to use via the touch screen. There isn’t much to say about it other than it worked as expected. Additionally, since I do not have a land line I was unable to test the fax function currently. Printing on the L3710CW is fast and easy. Although Brother advertises a print speed of 19 pages per minute, in my tests I managed to print approximately 10 ppm via printing wirelessly from PDFs of both my tax returns and a chunk of my thesis. I would rate the print quality of text fine and image quality as just OK (as would be expected with most color laser printers). I was expecting a higher quality of animated/business graphics, wherein the print quality looked somewhat flatter than a higher-end office laser printer, yet still better than an inkjet on standard stock. The touch screen on the printer unit is user friendly and has the option of customizing it by adding some shortcuts to its screen. There are also a number of add-ons and apps that can be used to make using a printer more convenient – for example you can scan a document and have it sent to your mobile phone by scanning a QR code on the screen (this routes you to a URL on Brother’s servers which allows your phone to download your document from). For the size and price of this printer, one might expect automatic printer duplexing and scanner duplexing but those functionalities are missing from this unit. It’s not a deal breaker but it would have been a nice to have. On the software side, the iPrint&Scan application that gets installed with the software is a barebones program that lets you manage the printer without the fuss of many inkjet all in ones that bombard you with too many options. One nice option here is that iPrint&Scan allows you to set up scanning workflows (to save to PC, scan to cloud service, open an app or attach to MS Outlook) from within app and send them to the printer. To add more-advanced workflows (say scan to an email address, to a network drive or FTP server) you must set this up via a web service hosted on the printer. Of course, to learn how to do this requires going online and searching Brother’s online services, as their documentation does not make mention of this. I have also installed the brother iPrint&Scan app on my smart phone and have been able to control my printer (print, scan and manage) from my phone while on the same Wi-Fi network. If you do need more control, there are additional configuration programs that get installed by Brother, but I haven’t found the need to use them. On the printer box, Brother advertises the use of its Creative Center for artistic/creative projects. It’s a website that has simple creative projects like designing birthday cards, invitations, calendars and banners. It’s not a deal maker but it’s a nice service to have access to if you’d like to make quick and simple (personal) projects for holidays, birthdays in addition to business templates for letterheads, posters and brochures. Barring the few cons listed above, I’m so far pleased with this printer. There are a few interesting features that I haven’t had a chance to try – some even accessible via the touch screen connecting it to a cloud service like Google Cloud Print service or Dropbox or even printing from my mobile phone while on a different network. I’m pleased that I now have a decent laser printer and will no longer have to throw out old ink cartridges that dry up and get clogged.

Great--but massive--home business printer
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Brother MFC-L3710CW Wireless Color All-In-One Printer is a beast! Which, unfortunately, means some good and bad things—though mostly good. This is a very large printer, that is suitable for a home office, but probably overkill for a regular ‘family’ printer (though it would work great for that too). Because the printer is so large, obviously the box is huge. There is a ton of padding around it so there’s not much danger of it being damaged in shipping. You will need to be careful lifting it out of the box, however, as it is also very heavy. For that same reason you'll want to make sure it's in a very sturdy resting spot. Unpacking takes a bit of time, as everything is taped down for protection, and the four print drums have protection on them that must also be removed. Finding a spot for a printer this large may also be a challenge depending on your situation. The footprint is quite bit larger than most home printers, particularly the height. There are several drawers for paper, and the print cartridges for this type of printer are the ‘drum’ type, and they are massive compared to normal print cartridges. The advantage to this is that it should mean you will not have to change them nearly as often as a regular inkjet printer. Set-up from there isn’t too difficult, though there was an annoyance or two that I ran into while setting up: First, I ran into an error with the machine telling me that my times didn’t match (turned out to be that it simply hadn’t updated after I’d connected to the internet) and then I was annoyed that it wouldn’t give me a ‘back’ button on the screen from the error. The home key only beeped at me, so I finally figured out to press the button below it—being colorblind and in a dark room I couldn’t make out what the symbol below the home key was. From there I had to download the software from brother’s homepage (my computer, like a lot of recent computers, has no disc drive)—fortunately it was very easy to do. Once the software was installed there was another ten minutes or so of updates to the firmware and software, and then I was all set. It’s pretty standard save one or two little hiccups. This printer is fast! Pages print quickly, and there is a ton of room for paper-storage so even with large print jobs you shouldn’t have to replenish paper very often. The prints themselves look great. I’ve tested large documents, photos large and small and other things here and there and they look perfect. I’d guess I’ve printed 100 pages or so at this point and the ink levels are still very good as well. The drum replacement for these costs more than standard printers, but they last a lot longer and it should prove to be more economical in the long run. If you have a need for a solid business printer or an overkill family printer—and you have the space for it-- then this is a terrific choice!

Good Quality Printer
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Brother MFC-L3710CW Wireless Color All-In-One Printer is my first Brother printer, and it’s a good one. It is not the best I have ever owned, but not the worst either. I believe some things could be better; however, for everyday work, it does everything a printer should. It offers many useful features, like wifi, high-resolution scanner, and color printing. I have both Canon and HP inkjet printers, and this Brother does mean I don’t have to buy ink but, I do have to buy toner, and from what I can tell, this printer is going to use a lot of it. The toner cartridges, I believe, will cost about two times the cost of ink for my Canon; however, I still hope it will last two times as long. The Brother is much bigger than a basic HP ink-jet when I say that I mean taller but uses about or a little more stand space as my other two printers. The Brother is a bit noisier than the others but not so its a big deal. Print speed I found to be very good for most documents, about 16 pages per minute. I like the fact that it holds 250 sheets of paper, you can print a lot longer without having to load more paper in the machine. I found for color printing, it also does very well, as far a speed, though I cannot say how many pages per minute, I sense its as good as any ink-jet printer, as well the quality is as good. It's not as good as my Canon Photo printer, but that is in totally different classes. I believe it’s a respectable black and white printer, suitable for that small office work or a home that does a lot of printing and adds some bells and whistles that you don’t get from an ink-jet.
