Customers highly value the MFC-L3770CDW Wireless Color All-In-One Laser Printer for its easy setup, print quality, and quiet operation. They appreciate the convenience of wireless printing and the reliability of the machine. However, some customers find the toner replacements to be expensive and the printer to be bulky and heavy.

    Brother's L3770CDW expensive doorstop

Buyer beware, may die just a week or two out of warranty and Brother won't help you or even give suggestions on how to clear a "No Toner" warning that, no matter what you try to do, you won't be able to clear. Even if you buy all four new toner cartridges for almost the same price as the printer to "fix" the issue, it won't go away, leaving you with a $400 or rather $800-pound new-toner paperweight. Mind you, this is, or was, a pampered four-color laser that got lightly used at most once-a-week printing of a few pages here and there until, one day, just outside warranty, it suddenly displayed "No Toner. Open the Top Cover, then install Toner Cartridge." Only, of course, there were toner cartridges in there, and they were rather full. Like a two-times-over idiot (first time, buying this printer) I bought four more genuine Brother toner cartridges, installing them, hoping that would fix it but now. It'll just keep on displaying that error. Extensive and exhaustively searched Brother's official help(less) site, a bunch of DIY fix-it sites (Tom's is really good) and Reddit to find this exact error that will turn your printer into a brick is somewhat common and there's no fix for, no workaround, it's dead, Jim and, much like me, will occur right about when the warranty expires. Fancy that. In fact, while talking with Brother's tech support, if it had been under warranty, the best they will trade it for a refurbished machine, not a new one. The person I was dealing with, Jean at Brother's Tech Support, even initially offered me this for a good minute or two until she said "oh wait, you're just out of warranty, ignore that, we can't help you. Maybe try an authorized service center, the repairs will be on you." Repairs that would be more expensive than just buying, say the Canon equivalent in the same class as the Brother, one that beats the Brother in all online reviews, and that Best Buy sells for less than the Brother? Fool me once for switching brands, fool me twice for your lack of supporting your product and providing no workaround for what seems like a software error? No thanks. Do yourself a favor, Best Buy has a GREAT selection of laser printers in the same class for around the same great price. Avoid Brother, pick a more reputable brand that will stand behind its machines. Don't be left high and dry owning a mint condition printer DOA by an unpassable false error you can't clear yourself. Save yourself the frustration. Never again.

HORRIBLE PRINT QUALITY, UNREADABLE AFTER 2 WEEKS

DO NOT BUY! Had two of these fail within weeks of purchase. We purchased one in Oct 2020 for our small office. Also purchased along with it $300 of Brother toner to have on hand. The first 2 weeks I was pleased with it, then over the next 2 months I fought with print quality. Not just small issues, flat out black wide lines everywhere. I tried everything that Brother service recommended, changed toner, I wasted so many toner cartridges and dollars. I had purchased Geek Squad's warranty when I bought the printer. Took it in for them to look at in January 2021. They said they didn't fix them so they gave me the purchase amount back on a gift card. With all the good reviews this printer had I thought maybe we just got a defective one so I ordered the same printer. BIG MISTAKE! The same issues within 2 weeks of purchase. Grateful I purchased the Geek Squad protection again. Will not buy Brother printers ever again!

I have been fighting black smudges and streaks since the day I got it home. Brother has sent me a complete new printer and a new toner, which helped for a couple weeks and then started again. None of the cleaning or maintenance procedures work or even help. I just opened a third support incident, and if this can't be fixed permanently I will be demanding a refund/return so I can buy another brand. I have only had this printer about 7 weeks!

Must Use Expensive Genuine Brother Toners

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I bought the printer without toner. I opted to buy cheaper, compatible toner from Amazon. The printer refused to print because the toner was not Genuine Brother Toner which cost approximately $300.00 in addition to the $549.99 for the Printer... I opted to return the printer and purchased a Canon MFC with ink cartridges that can be topped up with cheaper ink. In these times of runaway inflation this was the correct choice for me. I've always had Brother machines because they were reliable and toner was inexpensive and you could use generic toner... I am very disappointed that Brother decided to use software to limit their machines to use only Genuine Toner which is 4X four times more expensive. Best Buy made my return as painless as my purchase.

The printer does the job. It prints quickly. The color is okay, not brilliant. BUT, I´ve had the printer less than a year and already spent $940 on genuine replacement toner. From what I´ve seen in reviews Brother makes sure any non-Brother toner will not work, so I won´t be buying any more Brother products.

I am not a high volume printer, but wanted a quality device. I loved this product at first. This is my fist Brother device. The first 10 pages or so were great, black and white, colors very crisp. Easy to set up, air print and all. I thought this thing rocked. The next 10+ were and are terrible. All pages were printed with a black/grey tinge to them. I followed all instructions to clean the inside, the cartridges over and over again to no avail. Original, new & certificatied Brother Cartridges in use, no cheapos. I really wanted this to be great, but it not. I am returning this as soon as I can and avoiding Brother in the future.

    Nice Machine, Poor Print Quality

The machine was easy to set up with my Mac. It came packed nicely and is decent looking. The machine prints very quickly compared to my older HP color laser jet. However, the print quality is VERY poor. The colors are grainy, there are black spots all over the paper and the prints almost seem smudged. The problem gets worse if you print for any extended time, as well. Unfortunately, I cannot return this printer because I didn't get it set up until after the return window was closed, or else this thing would be going right back. And yes, I am using the Brother branded toner that came in the unit.

This item was the perfect fit for my needs at the time of purchase. However, there are some major issues associated with this product. One the EGREGIOUS cost factor of the toner cartridges. Why would anyone pay $284 to buy replacement toner cartridges. Buying a new printer turned out to be a better option. Now I have a printer collecting dust in the basement due to this. Secondly, the lack of customer support when this thing broke down. No help to correct the "NoToner" error message I kept getting after installing 4 new toner cartridges. The only solution provided was to buy and install new toner cartridges to see if that would work. If not, instructed to seek out a authorized Brother maintenance repair operation. Very POOR choices.

This is an expensive printer/scanner and should be able to produce copies that aren't all speckled and grainy with flecks of ink all over the page. I've tried to fix the problem by applying all the troubleshooting options provided by Brother. To no avail. I can't seem to find anyway to contact Brother to actually talk to someone and get help. I'm sure I'm beyond the due date for returning this to Best Buy, so am now stuck with an expensive piece of dung. Bad product, bad customer service, bad everything.

Pretty machine. It worked fine until I had to replace a toner cartridge. I used a Brother cartridge for the replacement and the printer comes up with a error on the screen saying the machine is out of toner. I replaced ALL the cartridges with new ones and I still get the error. A quick look online shows that this is a known issue and that they still haven't fixed it for years. Save yourself some money and buy a cinder block to keep your door open and a pack of pens to write all the stuff you would otherwise print on this piece of crap.

Hi, the stated page yields for genuine Brother cartridges are based on the ISO testing standards. The number of pages that can be printed with a cartridge is affected by several factors, including paper size, number of pages per print job, amount of print on each page, font size, and print content (graphics, charts, etc.). Print jobs with large text fonts, graphics, charts, and/or large amount of solid coverage (black or any given color) will use much more toner and will shorten the life of the toner cartridge. Absolute garbage. Since day 1, extreme issues just getting this thing installed. After we did, it would CONSTANTLY go offline, and there was no easy way to get it back online. I would have to uninstall and reinstall the entire printer/software from the PC. Fast forward 5 months of nonstop issues and here we are today. This thing simply will NOT reistall. I have followed every single FAQ to a "T". The printer itself shows connected to our 2.4 GhZ network, but during install, the software simply cannot see the machine. I have forwarded ports, restarted the router, printer, computer. Nothing. I just wasted another 2 hours of my life over this piece of garbage. I have contacted Brother previously and of course, no help from them. They send me piles of FAQs that I have already read and attempted. This machine HAS to be defective. No other explanation. But here I sit with a $400 paper weight. No one can help me and I cannot return it. I will never buy another Brother product again, and I recommend you considering the same.

I've had this brand new printer for a week. The printer's display / quality was not good as identified by several posts. The biggest issue I encountered was the inability to print what's displayed in the que. This printer omitted printing headers and most details on the page. I troubleshooted using the same que to print to an older Canon iP7220 printer which captured the details as outlined. During my research prior to purchase each of the leading brands "All-in-one" printers had flaws. However I never saw mention of anything about not printing what's displayed. I ignored my findings and accepted the review from an established Consumer Review of merchandise Company. Brother is supposingly a top not company for printers. Based on my experience I'm very disappointed. My 1st experience with Brother equipment and I expect my last. If the printer is unable to print what's there then what good is it?
