So glad I "canned" my inkjet...
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. They say in "all tests" that lasers are more costly to operate (per page printed) than an inkjet. Well... I don't print that many pages, or rather, there is definitely a lot of time in between printing - and guess what? The nozzles on my inkjet plugs up, printouts are streaked, "weak in print (missing parts of letters and numbers)", colors wrong due to the different colors plug up differently. Remedy: "clean the nozzles, print test page". Now, THAT is costly!!! The amount of ink used up when "cleaning" the nozzles! BTW - this has happened on several inkjets I have owned, made by several different manufacturers. I have always used OEM ink, so no "cheap knock-off" cartridges. This is the fourth [inkjet] printer now that I have given up on. Time and patience... =============================== Well, finally, I did some research and found this printer. Have not owned it for very long, but everything works, and it works great: +Pulls the paper straight (yes, that is important) +Does duplex without jamming +Handles card stock (for business cards) really well - they came out centered and with really crisp text down to 6 pt. font! And same there - it pulls in the card stock STRAIGHT from the manual slot without slippage. +Scanning, copying... no complaints. Very easy to use, scan and mail to your computer. (Not using the fax…) +Software suite installed easily - I had no issues with drivers or any other aspect of getting it up and running - even on my work laptop, which is a total disaster otherwise, due to our "friendly corporate I.T.'s" policies and "security measures". Some negatives: -It weighs a lot. Be careful lifting and moving it. -Only one bin for paper, so you can't have a second source for alternative paper - so manual switching or feeding through the manual slot is what you have to do. Cost of ownership: To be determined. But it is ALWAYS ready, starts up fast and it prints clean, crisp pages. My time and my patience is hard to put a price on, and here it really delivers! Since I am not wasting ink on "cleaning" I really don't expect that my true cost per page will be worse than on the [now discarded] inkjet printers. Just buy it…

Nice product
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Really nice product for a reasonable price. I got this one printer for my home office. It came fully assembled and initial setup steps were very easy and the user manual was very detailed. The print quality is good. I just got this one a while ago so can't really comment on the Toner and cartridge life, but I heard it's pretty good too.

Loving my new printer
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm loving my new printer. I'm glad I upgraded from a regular inkjet printer to this. My son kept telling me all the reasons why having a laser printer would be so much better I was skeptical as I always am. I finally made the decision. I did lots of research on many laser printers & compared for a couple months & I kept coming back to this one. This printer had everything I was looking for. Its easy to set up, easy to use & prints look professional. Printing from a laptop has never been easier compared to my old wireless hp printer that was slow & loud. This printer is fast & quiet. I really like the automatic double side printing so much easier then having to manually figure out which way to put the paper in so it prints on the other side right, its now effortless.

Flawless Printing & Scanning
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This printer has done everything I have needed flawlessly. My only problem is learning how to use it properly. There was one eccentricity with printing envelopes. Don't try setting envelope printing using the LCD setting screen. Ignore the suggested envelope orientation on the multi-purpose (MP) tray. I had to invert the envelope print settings on Word and reverse the orientation of envelopes in the MP tray. After that, everything worked great. I have noticed that the printer goes through the factory provided color cartridges rather quickly. I've printed 200 letters with envelopes (both with color) seeing about a 15% drop in ink, and noticed that the ink usage was even across the board. I've ordered a high capacity set of replacement cartridges. If you are using this printer for everyday monochrome printing, I recommend getting extra high capacity black cartridges. I use my Brother MFC-L2550DW for my B&W needs. Since this is tax season, I've scanned and filed all of my tax documents with my CPA and with no jamming. This is my first color and 5th Brother printer. I've had this printer now for about 3 weeks and would recommend it for personal and small business users.

Great printer - easy setup, great quality.

Duplex printing and scanning. Saves on paper. Very quiet when printing. This was purchased for a family member. I own the same model (used for home office) since January of 2020 so that shows the positive rating.

Versatile and affordable multi-function printer
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pros More affordable than others Product support for the lifetime of the product Refills are cheaper LED printers usually last even longer than laser printers Quiet Fast first print Scans and prints in color Offers scan to cloud services Offers fax to cloud services Compatible with smartphones and tablets for scanning and printing Full featured drivers can be installed or basic depending on needs Includes PaperPort to manage scans Touchscreen makes usage easier as it can display just the needed info All drivers and software available via website Cons Print quality is slightly duller than a good quality laser Blacks seem to have a slightly purple or blue hue Ozone smell is stronger than others in smaller offices Scan to email only works with Outlook Scan to OCR as an Excel is not compatible with Office 2016 Scan to OCR doesn’t offer option for Word Printer technology hasn’t seemed to have changed as fast as the rest of the tech industry but there have been improvements. The most significant improvement has been in the price for what you get. The Brother MFC-L3770CDW is a lot of printer for a very reasonable price. It offers dual sided color LED printing, scanning, and faxing. LED technology is the latest in printers. LED printers are supposed to offer the print quality of laser but with a cheaper price, higher reliability, and less power required. The MFC-L3770CDW is an LED printer and certainly offers a competitive price and should offer higher reliability. A bonus is that warm up time is much shorter than most laser printers. Even from sleep, the printer can start printing within 14 seconds from startup, but it feels quicker as it almost seems like immediately after you press print it is warming up where others usually have long pause first. Besides being quick to start, it is also very quiet. Prints are overall sharp but not quiet as vibrant as the latest generation of laser printers. Blacks have a very slight blue/purple hue and the print has a more matt finish like older color laser printers. Brother does offer an advanced color calibration option if needed. Overall print quality is very good considering the price and feature set. Most people wouldn’t recognize the difference unless a printout from a much more expensive laser printer was placed next to it. Like laser printers, this printer isn’t well suited to photo printing but can product nice looking presentations and flyers. It’s worth noting that if you have a smaller room you would like to keep this in you should make sure the room has adequate ventilation. If left in a closed 15x15 room overnight, you will notice a pretty strong odor of what smells like ozone. It’s hard to say if it is truly ozone, like what laser printers emit, but if it is it can cause health issues over time. Regardless, the smell is strong if not kept ventilated. For a small package this MFC packs a lot of features. It offers all the standard features of a multi-function printer but adds cloud functionality and compatibility with smartphones and tablets. There are many online enabled features including OneDrive, Google Drive, Box, and Dropbox integration to name a few. Not only does it offer printing support for Mac OS but Linux as well. With this cloud integration you can reduce the amount of prints needed as well as keep things more organized. Want to send a fax of a document you have on a computer or mobile device. No problem. Either option is covered. You send it to the MFC and it gets sent out without the need to print, scan, and fax. Want to keep your faxes organized and not waste resources on junk faxes? Just set it to fax to email or better yet, to cloud. When you have it scan to cloud it will store them in a folder in your cloud storage and notify you via email once finished. No more misprints, lost prints, or confidential information sitting on the printer waiting to be picked up. If you prefer to keep incoming faxes more local but don’t want to print them directly there is also a fax to pc option. Faxes will be forwarded and stored on a local computer of your choice for later retrieval. If the computer gets turned off for some reason the MFC has memory to store faxes until the computer is turned back on at which point it will immediately transfer the waiting faxes. It is unusual to find a printer, let alone a multi-function device, with so much versatility in printing options. You don’t even need a computer to use it. You can print and scan using the Brother iPrint&Scan app for Android and iOS. The options available continue in Windows where on Windows 10 you can just have Windows 10 automatically detect and install the basic drivers or manually download the complete suite from Brother’s website to include PaperPort to organize your scanned documents. This still does not describe all the features and options it has. This might sound intimidating, but Brother has managed to keep it simple first. You aren’t forced into the advanced features. You can leave everything default and it will work well as it. If you want to dig into more advanced features you don’t have to navigate through a large panel of buttons. Included is an integrated touchscreen display which only shows the relevant features for what you are trying to do. It really helps keep things simple for as much as it can do. Besides compatibility with virtually any device and a competitive price, Brother offers a unique perk. Most printers only come with support in regard to factory defects. Brother not only offers the industry standard 1-year warranty against defects but also offers phone, chat, and email support for the life of your printer. If you are looking for an all-around versatile device for your home office or small office, the Brother MFC-L3770CDW is a very compelling choice you should consider.

Great High-Volume Choice
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Brother all-in-one, or multi-function printer is a color laser printer (uses toner cartridges rather than ink cartridges), a flat-bed scanner, color copier, and fax machine. The printer has one paper tray that will hold up to legal size paper and four toner cartridges, black, cyan, magenta, and yellow. There is also a fold down door on the front of the machine revealing the multi-purpose tray, used to load specialty paper such as envelopes. The printer is Wi-Fi capable, AirPrint compatible and can use Near Field Communication from mobile devices. There is a front USB port enabling you to print directly from a USB drive (or scan a document and save it directly to the drive), but there is not an SD card slot. The printer is not intended to print photos (I believe this is a characteristic of all color laser printers), but the scanner function can scan photographs. The printer arrived in a box 24” x 20” x 22” high, and it is quite hefty meaning it likely will not fit into the trunk of most sedans. The printer unpacked easy enough if you don’t have any lifting restrictions. For our purposes at home, I had to connect only the AC power cable – if we wanted fax capability, I would also have to connect a phone line. The power cord is the typical AC-cable with a plug on both ends that has a standard female end that connects to the printer. A phone cable is included too, along with a CD-ROM of drivers and other software, and rudimentary set-up and reference instructions. A detailed user guide is available on Brother’s web site along with downloadable drivers and software if your computer(s) no longer has an optical drive. It does not come with an Ethernet cable if you plan on connecting the printer in that fashion. Set up was quick and trouble free and I had no issues with our Windows 10, Mac OS, and iOS devices all being able to connect and print. Since the printer is connected to our Wi-Fi network, the date and time set themselves automatically. This model uses a combination of buttons and a color touchscreen to control the printer. The touchscreen is very easy to use with good response, clear graphics and text prompts when needed. The product description states that the paper tray will hold up to 250 sheets of paper. It would have been nice if a whole ream of paper could fit in the tray at one time to avoid finding a home for the partial ream until the printer needs more paper loaded into it. It appears there are two toner cartridge sizes, TN-223 (standard yield) and TN-227 (high yield), and as with most things in life, the larger “package” is a much better buy when comparing cost per page to print. Depending on the type of print job you are attempting (1-sided or 2-sided) and the type of paper being used (plain, glossy, legal, etc), there are specifics on which tray to use, settings that need to be changed, quantity of paper that can be loaded, and orientation if using preprinted paper that make referring to the full user manual mandatory (which is 675 pages long, and only one language). The printer allows you to set a variety of “shortcuts” for differing types of print jobs so that you don’t have to manually set different parameters every time you need to change types of jobs. At home we have previously had only ink jet printers since 1997 as we are not high print-volume users. I have had a lot of experience with laser printers through work since my profession utilizes printers virtually all day. This Brother printer exhibits the same features and initial quality as any of the big name brands usually seen in office environments. That being said, I think this printer is probably too sophisticated for the needs of the average home user (myself included). Speed, print quality and unobtrusive noise are all outstanding in my opinion and make the MFC-L3770CDW printer one that I doubt any home office or small business user would be disappointed with.

Huge upgrade from my previous MFC
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am coming from a previous Brother multifunction printer, so I thought I knew the basics about how these powerful machines work. However, I quickly realized that the technology has changed quite a bit from the time I purchased my old MFC and the time I received this new MFC. And, that’s a good thing. With that being said, I’ll go through some of the basics about this multifunction beast. Setup is very straightforward and flexible, giving you the option to setup via computer (Mac, Windows, etc) or mobile device. And, on top of that, you can setup the printer to work via wifi, via ethernet or via direct USB connection. I decided to setup via my Mac and using a wifi connection. But before doing that, I setup quickly via ethernet just to see how it worked and things went fine. I then setup via wifi which automatically disables the ethernet connection (even if you keep the ethernet cable plugged in). Anyway, at least on the mac, the Brother installer that you download from the support website takes you through the steps to get the drivers installed, the Brother iPrint and Scan app from the Mac App Store installed and then to completion. Once installed and connected, I printed out a test page and was amazed by the sharpness and the color of the laser output. Our previous MFC was a monochrome laser, so this is a huge step up for us. I also then configured my wife and my Macs to be able to scan directly to the machine and even setup some cloud services, including Dropbox, Google Drive and OneDrive. I think I’ve just scratched the surface in terms of what all this machine can do in terms of internet connected printing, scanning, emailing, etc and I’m not sure I’ll even use all of these features, but I imagine in a business environment, these things would/will come in handy. On the printer itself is a small, color, relatively low resolution (ie, grainy) touchscreen that works well and is pretty self-explanatory in that you can accomplish all of the desired features directly from the touchscreen. Being an Apple/MacOS/iOS family, this is actually our first AirPrint capable printer, so I tested out that feature on our iPhones. It didn’t require any kind of setup at all - the printer was discovered on our network and we were able to print directly to it without any issues. The MFC also has NFC capabilities, but I believe that will only work with Android devices, so I am unable to test it. Lastly, we don’t have a landline any longer, so faxing is another feature that won’t be used in our household. Regardless, however, we are extremely pleased with this Brother. Brother is pretty much the only brand printer or multifunction machine our family has owned (this is our third), so one can tell that we are so happy with this brand that we really don’t seek anything else out.
