I upgraded to this printer! I had briefly the one just below this model! Copying and scanning is perfect, however sometimes the copies come out rounded and the clips the hold the copies whether printed or copied/scanned either jams or does not hold the copies from fall off the printer!

    Functional but a bit outdated

Let me get one thing out of the way. This printer is a heavy piece of office equipment. I feel bad for the delivery person that had to deliver this. Once you successfully get the printer out of the box and unwrap and remove all of the Styrofoam, you can finally place the printer where you want. The printer itself looks like any other multifunction printer. There's a top feeder and a flatbed for scanner. Personally I prefer the top feeder to multiple documents. The flatbed is more suited for scanning cards or anything that won't go into a feeder. One of the nicer features of the printer are the large toner cartridges. You get the three main colors; cyan, magenta, and yellow for better color accuracy. There's also a separate black. You have multiple way of printing such as a USB drive, from your smart phone, and of course, your computer. One of the perplexing things is that it comes with a phone cable... I'm guessing this is for the fax. I don't understand why you would still be sending a fax in an age where you can scan a document and email it... it's been this way for over 15 years now. I digress... You can download the app. The app isn't necessary, but it does offer a few benefits. As mentioned, if you want to print a photo or document from your phone, then that's the biggest benefit. Whenever you open the app, you're bombarded with the EZ print subscription. Luckily you can turn off the marketing notifications in the settings. You can see your ink levels, scan, subscribe to their ink program, buy supplies, etc. One of the things that makes this printer feel outdated is the touch screen. It looks almost identical to a multifunction printer screen that I had on a printer I had back in 2009. I'm mainly basing to opinion to the user interface. When it comes to actually printing, it's a beefy machine. I was able to print out 25 pages of a presentation I was working on in less than a minute. This is office quality speed. The colors of my pivot tables popped, and text were bold. If you need a nice family or home office printer, you can't go wrong with the Brother all-in-one. I think one way of modernizing the screen would be to make it a screen that covers the width of the front facia of the printer. That way you could have more icons and options without having the hit the back button so often. All in all, a nice printer with a minor flaw.

Amazing printer and a huge upgrade from an ink jet printer. Have done quite a few prints both using regular printer paper and card stock and it is fast and reliable. The only downside I have had is the bend to the card stock when it comes off the printer despite setting it for thick paper.

The printing quality is great; however, I would not give 5 stars to this product because the receiving data of the printer is very slow, it does not scan over 20-25 pages, and the toner runs out quickly.

Great printer, faxes great, but printer software should have had a preview scan to select a scan area when scanning on the reflective glass. Also, should have had software to scan to a PDF.

Printer works well. I have always enjoyed Brother printers. My only complaint was the paper loader was set to legal and letter and then the printer was telling me to load paper when paper was in there. When I called in for support Best Buy was very unhelpful and said I either had to bring it in or have someone called out to the site. I wish they could have trouble shot over the phone.

A Colorful Contender: Brother MFC-L3780CDW Review!

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The Brother MFC-L3780CDW Wireless Color All-in-One printer is an exciting addition to the world of home and small office printing. With its impressive array of features, it brings a lot to the table, but there are a few areas where it could use some improvement. Let's start with the positives. The MFC-L3780CDW offers an extensive set of functions that make it a versatile choice for both home and office users. Its wireless connectivity ensures that you can print from your smartphone or laptop with ease. The color printing capability is a standout feature, offering vivid and sharp prints that are perfect for professional documents and colorful presentations. One of the most appreciated aspects of this printer is its fast print speed. It's capable of churning out 25 pages per minute, which is quite impressive for a printer in this price range. The automatic document feeder (ADF) is a great time-saver, making it a breeze to scan, copy, or fax multi-page documents. The 250-sheet paper tray capacity means fewer interruptions for paper reloads. Moreover, Brother has a solid reputation for reliability, and the MFC-L3780CDW lives up to this reputation. It's a workhorse that can handle a heavy workload without breaking a sweat. The user-friendly touchscreen interface makes it easy to navigate through the printer's settings and functions, even for those who aren't tech-savvy. Now, let's delve into the shortcomings. One of the noticeable downsides is the size and weight of this printer. It's quite bulky and heavy, which might be an issue if you have limited desk space. The design could be more compact and aesthetically pleasing.Another drawback is the cost of replacement toner cartridges. While the initial purchase price is reasonable, the long-term cost of consumables can add up quickly. It's important to consider this ongoing expense when budgeting for this printer. The scanner quality is decent, but it's not the best in its class. If you need high-quality scans for professional purposes, you might want to look at dedicated scanners. The same can be said for photo printing – while it's passable for basic needs, don't expect gallery-quality prints. Finally, Brother's mobile app, while functional, could use some improvement in terms of user-friendliness and features. It's not as intuitive as some of the competition. In summary, the Brother MFC-L3780CDW Wireless Color All-in-One printer is a reliable and versatile workhorse with impressive color printing capabilities and a range of useful features. However, it's let down by its bulky design, ongoing consumable costs, and slightly subpar scanner and photo printing quality. For those looking for an all-in-one solution with solid overall performance, this printer deserves a 4 out of 5 stars. With some improvements in design and consumable costs, it could easily earn a perfect score.

Greetings, business professionals! Today, I present my review of the Brother MFC L3780cdw, a wireless color all-in-one digital printer designed to meet the demands of modern office environments. Let's dissect its key aspects: Ease of Setup: Setting up the Brother MFC L3780cdw was a relatively straightforward process. Clear instructions and an intuitive interface on the built-in touchscreen made the initial configuration hassle-free. However, it may require a bit of technical know-how to fully optimize its settings for business use. Mobile App Integration: The mobile app compatibility for both iOS and Android is a notable feature. The Brother iPrint&Scan app allows for convenient mobile printing and scanning, enhancing productivity. It does the job efficiently, though a more polished and feature-rich app would elevate the user experience. Print Quality: When it comes to business documents and promotional materials like flyers, the Brother MFC L3780cdw shines. The laser-quality output boasts crisp text and vivid graphics, which is essential for creating a professional impression. However, it may not meet the stringent requirements of graphic designers or photographers seeking photo-realistic prints. Maintenance: Maintenance is a mixed bag. The printer's design makes it relatively easy to replace toner cartridges, reducing downtime. On the downside, the paper tray's capacity leaves something to be desired, requiring frequent refills in busy office settings. Additionally, the occasional firmware updates can be a minor inconvenience. Cost Over Time: While the initial purchase cost is reasonable, long-term expenses primarily revolve around toner replacements. The cost per page is competitive, but it's essential to factor in these ongoing expenses when budgeting for the printer. Energy efficiency is a plus, contributing to cost savings over time. In conclusion, the Brother MFC L3780cdw is a solid choice for small to medium-sized businesses. Its ease of setup and mobile app integration make it suitable for a modern work environment. It excels in producing professional-quality business documents and marketing materials. However, potential buyers should be aware of its limitations, particularly when it comes to graphic-intensive tasks. When managed carefully, the cost of ownership remains reasonable. This printer is a reliable workhorse for the business world, with room for minor improvements.

Great design, fast scanner, fast + quality prints

This LED all-in-one printer offers a strong combination of performance, quality, and functionality in a footprint small enough to be suitable for home office use. The unit is very well constructed, thoughtfully designed, and very fast. There’s bright, easy-to-read color LCD touch display on the front which is large enough to provide a legible and user-friendly interface. Pros: - Quality construction - Excellent paper handling - Printing is FAST and high quality for documents, presentations, and charts - Scanner is fast and can scan two sided pages in a single pass - Judicious choice of toner purchases can make printing quite affordable - Generally reliable operation Cons: - Not great for photos and some horizontal shading artifacts are visible in some cases. - Some software glitches / network disconnects - On some paper types, mild roller impressions are visible in the output paper - Subscription plans can be affordable, but if you pick the wrong one costs can add up quickly Paper Handling Paper handling is above average for a device of this size, featuring a 250 sheet main paper tray and a separate 30 page multi-purpose tray. This second tray is very useful for printing envelopes, glossy paper, or labels without having to change the paper in the main tray. Letter, Legal, and A4 size are all supported. Paper output is to a dedicated tray beneath the scanner and prints come out facing down. This is great for privacy, and a big improvement over manually extended a paper output trays that takes up more office space and can be fragile. Although I’ve experienced no paper jams in the week I’ve been using the printer, the rollers do sometimes leave an impression on the paper. This is generally not noticeable, but might be an issue with certain kinds of glossy papers. Printing Brother claims up to 31 pages per minute and in my experience this seems reasonable. Output is extremely fast, even for graphically intensive pages. The LED print system (like a laser but without the moving components) provides sharp, high quality prints that look extremely professional. Colors are generally vibrant and well reproduced for a device of this class. PowerPoint decks, brochures, reports, and charts all print very well, but photos can be hit and miss. I noticed some mild horizontal banding in shaded areas, including on photos. This is usually not noticeable, but in large images and large shaded areas it is definitely visible. In general, I would suggest sticking to an inkjet for the best quality photos, but in other respects the print quality from this unit is unlikely to disappoint. It can produce serviceable photos for brochures if needed – just not the best. I did run into some issues with colors going out of alignment creating some ghosting artifacts. This was easily remedied with the fully automatic “color correction” menu option, but it is a bit of a concern to have this issue arise in just one week of light printing. Scanning The scanner is excellent for business purposes. There is a 50 sheet automatic document feeder and scans are fast and reliable. It can also scan both sides of a document in a single pass, a great feature in this class of device. Scanning photos from the flat bed produces serviceable but not stellar results. Perfectly fine for most general use, including scanning pictures for inclusion in brochures and documents. Software and Reliability Brother provides a full software suite and I suggest installing this vs. trying to use drivers built in to the operating system. The Brother software generally works well, although I did have some issues with network disconnects and some extended waits while the driver “connected” to the printer. In one case, the driver automatically ran a network troubleshooting tool which somewhat amazingly was actually able to remedy the issue. The ”scan to computer” function has worked every time I’ve tried it, and has happily allowed me to select from multiple destination computers on the network so long as they had the software installed. Many other printers I’ve tried have been unable to do this reliably, so this is a win for Brother. The scanning software provides a handy notification when the operation is complete, making it easy to locate the newly scanned document. I did have some issues with the printer not showing up as an option in Chrome / Edge, but those appear resolved after re-installing the drivers. Overall I think the software is reasonably stable, but could use some more work. Hopefully it will continue to improve over the next few months as this device is still quite new. Subscriptions and Operating Costs Brother offers a “Refresh” subscription program which at the time of this review costs between $0.13 / page and $0.07 / page depending on the volume you sign up for each month. Unused pages roll over up to a maximum of 2x your monthly subscription amount. The plan also extends the warranty. This service could prove cost effective if you print a lot of pages with color and extensive graphics. However, for black and white and text printing, it could become expensive. Fortunately, Brother has taken the high road, eschewed the DRM trend, and allows you to use any toner cartridges compatible with their 229 series. Even genuine Brother toner can be purchased for prices which imply costs as low as $0.02 / page for black and white prints. Third party manufacturers offer options which are even less expensive, albeit with uncertain reliability. As a result, this printer can make high quality LED printing affordable in a home environment. Summary I’m happy with this unit. I wish it had better photo quality, but for 99.5% of the things we print as a family and for work, this offers a solid combination of speed, quality, and features.

I started working remotely in 2009 and at the time I purchased a Dell 2335dn high volume printer with scanner. That was a beast, big, heavy and 2009 technology. It was becoming increasingly hard to setup the printer with new devices and really really hard to find toner for it. With an advertised volume slightly less than but comparable to my Dell, full color options, and LCD touch screen this seemed like it would be a worthwhile upgrade. After using it for a while now I can say that overall my feelings are mixed, but over the long term I anticipate it being a worthy replacement to my home office needs. In addition to my home office needs, which admittedly see reduced printing needs year after year (I can do most receipts online and post pandemic most contracts have been executed on DocuSign), we as a family do have robust needs for printing on our social calendar. Between my wife and I we server on school committee, PTO, a couple local charitable orgs, the park and recreation department and coach one or two youth sport teams most seasons. This busy social calendar does mean color flyers, practice schedules and other documents are in high demand. I was please to see that this prints color far more efficiently than most ink jets that I've dealt with in the past, I haven't tried photos but adding a splash of color works really well: "business" uses. I will say for high volume print jobs in black and white, like research papers etc. that may run 40 - 80 pages this printer takes noticeably longer than my older one but not enough to be a burden. I did give 4 stars instead of 5 for two major reasons: 1) This was the hardest device I've had to setup in a number of years. I'm wondering if part of the issue was use of wired LAN instead of WiFi but the out of the box network configurations didn't work and prevented registration, firmware, etc from working and made it very confusing. 2) I wasn't a fan of the Refresh subscription. 2a) I really didn't like being asked to commit to a plan before I had learned how much we really print in a month. If I had to guess I'd say over 100 pages a month, but the cost of that plan is around $180 annually. 2b) Doing that arithmetic made this feel like a bum deal, in 14 years on my last printer I bought toner 7 times at a rough cost of $65 to $110 depending on if I could find recycled cartridges. While I recognize CMYB is 4 times the cartridges of a simple black and white, I want the flexibility to print work documents that may run up to 200 pages and if in the long run I need to replace cartridges annually or more I'm probably not going to be happy.

Having a small real estate office, printing is still an importanlt part of doing business, even in an ever-increasing digital world. The Brother - MFC-L3780CDW Wireless Color All-in-One Digital Printer Is a great choice if you have the need. First impressions... The unit is larger than expected..mThis is not a statement of either good or bad, just an observation. The box it came in was also large but thankfully it had "handles" that made moving it easier. Set-up was as to be expected. From opening the box to set up and operational was probably 15 to 20 minutes. Once set-up was complete and the paper loaded, I ran severaltest prints. I printed a past contract for the purchasse of one of my properties. It printed quickly and the print was sharp and crisp. I next printed some invites to my dad's 80th birthday that had a color picture of hom and mom. Again, the printing was relatively quick and the color images were crisp and relatively close to natural color. End of the day, for a small business, this is a great choice and a real value.
