I'm blown away by how simple everything was to setup. I did so without a monitor following documentation on the raspberrypi dot org website. Everything was simple to understand and pretty thorough, I was able to configure my Pi to act as a home DNS server/ad blocker eliminating many of those annoying pop up ads. That is just one of the many things you can do with this device. I definitely see more purchases in the future for different projects.

Getting a Raspberry pi 4 was tough for a while, but being able to get one at a local retailer is a huge boon. Simply because the price is no different from the prices on CanaKit's own website, and amazon. The kit itself is nice, the case is a huge step up from their Case for the Pi3 model b/b+. It still has the notch to hold a camera board, both upright behind the usb/ethernet ports, and on the lid behind the raspberry logo, but gone is the plastic layer that covered most of the board making it possible to use a much larger variety of accessories within the case from different cooling solutions and HATs (hardware on top). Additionally there is now a clip in place on the lid to mount a cooling fan. The kit comes with everything you need to get started, though only just. The pi itself, case, heat sinks, power supply, micro to full size HDMI cable, and a micro sd card with noobs software preinstalled so you can get Raspian OS up and running minutes after opening it up and assembling it all. You of course will still need your own screen, keyboard, and mouse. A major recommendation though would be to get your hands on a fan for the case early on, the little heat sink does help with the temps a little but with a fan you can run it more reliably at the cost of a little power and noise. My tests on 2 separate boards get idle temps in the high 60's low 70's and quickly jump up to the 80's when actually doing anything without a fan, and idles at 38/40 degrees with fan and only ever climbs to around 55/60 in regular use. [synthetic benchmarks can push the little machine much harder and still reach temps in the 80s with a small fan and heat sinks, but that's not a true test of what to expect. CanaKit does offer kits that come with a fan as well through their website though it would have been nice if they were the ones best buy were carrying. It's not a deal breaker though. Some things to take note of: 1. The Raspberry Pi 4B can output on up to 2 4k screens from its dual micro hdmi ports, it can run one by itself at 60fps, or two of them at 30fps. 2. Despite being able to run 2 4k displays in use, it is not able to actually stream 4k content reliably. At least not as of my writing of this review. As software catches up to the new hardware it may be more capable down the line. 3. Micro HDMI ports are fragile, take care when plugging and unplugging your cable or your going to have a bad day. 4. The internet is your friend, use youtube, and google to the fullest extend of your abilities and you will almost always be able to find someone who is having or has had the same problems your having with it. With all that in mind however, if your just starting out or even if you've used raspberry pis in the past, its a good kit to pick up since it has all the important components you need to get started on a new project, and you save a little money compared to picking up power supplies and cases and cables separately.

I was on a job in town where I needed a remote live video feed from a webcam to watch a piece of equipment, but doing it with a laptop would use too much power and run my inverter battery down too fast. I was pleasantly surprised that Best Buy actually had Raspberry Pi’s in stock, so picked this up and put a simple video streaming server together on it over the weekend. 2 GB RAM was plenty for that, and everything included was good quality and assembled easily. Took a bit of fidgeting with the included older OS version and just ended up starting fresh with a different SD card and the latest OS and it worked like a charm and could run for hours on my power tool battery powered inverter. Saved me a ton of trouble and was able to solve the problem by finally being able to watch two places at once and getting my equipment dialed in exactly right.

We bought this for our 7 year old for Christmas who really wants to learn coding. I have over a dozen of these from all generations that I tinker with and have setup to run either pi-hole or RetroPie in my arcade cabinet. The 2GB version is great to code on. Super responsive and easy to use. He loved receiving this and is looking forward to learning to code on it. Such a great gift to give!

The Raspberry Pi is one of my favorite tech toys. More than a toy, it's a great tool! I have used one to start a photo booth business, I've used them to monitor networks remotely, digital signage, and the list goes on an on! And, now we get more than 1GB of RAM, it's now something someone could use as a light workstation. This it is a great way to get started with the Pi and I'm so glad I can pick one up at my local Best Buy! The only downside to this kit is the case, it gets warm and gives a cheap plastic smell. You could put a fan in there to help, but I prefer a better case. I'd still recommend getting a kit, though. The Pi 4 has been known to be picky about USB-C power supplies. So, I'd recommend the kit without the case. Have fun making!

I have 3 Raspberry Pi 3B+'s. Two were being used with octoprint and one was used in place of a PC for monitoring my 3D prints but when I saw the Raspberry Pi 4 in the store I decided I would replace the Pi 3B+ used for monitoring and use the Pi 4 instead. The Pi 3B+ is now being used on a third 3D printer which didn't really need one because it has WiFi built in but octoprint is much easier to use. Without a doubt the Raspberry Pi 4 is faster than the 3B+ and worth the difference in price.

I got this to upgrade my four year old retropie, and am considering getting a second for a low-power kiosk system. The speed of the CPU rivals most netbooks and lightweight Linux distros run great on 2-4gigs of ram. The only downside is that is does get hotter, the included case and heatsinks help but you may want to consider a case that supports a fan of you are going to doing lot of heavy processing for long times.

I had a great time putting this together and getting it going, I'm not very well versed with Linux based projects but with all the documentation and videos out there I was able to get this set up as a pi-hole on my home network and its been running steadily for several weeks now. Really helps block ads! I did this as a headless system originally but now I have added a GUI and log into it remotely and I'm looking at what projects to get set up on it. Pi-hole isn't very resource intense so I know it can do more!

Can be improved with an added pi fan, but works well out of the box and the price is reasonable. I especially liked the two piece clear case (easy to install the pi and can see the lights on the board). The PI 4 is a good improvement over the PI 3 and this kit allows you to get basically a computer in a box. Nice to see stores providing PI kits off the shelf.

Good upgrade from the Raspberry Pi 3. I've used the RPi 4 for display signage and a RetroPie build and it is a noticeably better performer than the RPi 3 was. I've never needed the extra RAM models that are currently available, so depending on your project, you may want to look into those kits.

I am new to Raspberry Pi computers, but wanted this to run OctoPrint for my 3d printer. The package came with everything I needed, except for a fan. Wish it included the fan so I didn’t have to search for the correct fan to fit in the case. Overall, a good package for a decent price.

This thing is awesome. I love it. It was priced fair, you can do a lot of DIY programs and projects. I'm giving it a 4 star because three days after I bought this the ones that they restocked had come with a fan that was added extra to the box because of the overheating. If I could of gotten one with a fan for the same price I would rate this 5 stars

I purchased the Raspberry Pi 4 after doing some research on YouTube... I purchased this kit and had it up and running in minuets. The WiFi feature is iffy but this micro machine works fine via ethernet... it also came with a office suite (Libre Office)... Not bad at all... (I strongly recommend that you add a fan to prevent overheating if you use on a regular and a wireless keyboard too).

This kit has most of what you need to get started, with quality components. It's not the cheapest price, but it's reasonable and they're stocked in-store in case you need a Pi ASAP. I definitely recommend getting a kit that comes with a USB-C power supply since there are lots of reports out there about issues with generic USB-C power supplies that weren't specifically designed for the Pi -- this might have been addressed on the Pi-side in later versions though.
