Keyboard Design Flaw
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been using this laptop for about 2 months. It really is a disaster for the keyboard design - I am literally blind with "dark red" letters on black background. Even when the whole keyboard is lit up, I can hardly see anything simply because the display is much brighter... Although "Dell G3 15 3500 Setup and Specifications" clearly states it has a "Four-zone RGB backlit keyboard" in "Table 14. Keyboard specifications" on page 18, Dell tech support confirmed it does not have an RGB keyboard and I cannot change the keyboard color. Something is very wrong and Dell definitely needs to correct their specs for this specific model. However, it has a pretty good processor for the speed and also its SSD has plenty space for what I need. So... I decided to keep it BUT with a keyboard cover (simply white letters on black background) from Amazon.

Hinge Broke
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The laptop has worked great until last night when I went to close the laptop and the hinge broke. Screws and plastic fell out. I contacted Dell SupportAssist and was told this is considered damage and not covered under warranty. So I now have to pay to have my 10 month old laptop fixed.

Out of Box Failure
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I ordered online since it is not necessary for me to see the laptop physically as all specs are available in website. Received delivery this morning and immediately open the box to power up and set up the typical things you need to do on a brand new laptop. After powering up, Cortana blue screen showed up and waited for next step to show up. Since I am also working at home, I just let it seat there and continue with my work. After more than 30 min., nothing happened so I power cycle. Same thing again and so I just let it run longer this time. Same results, nothing happened. Repacked everything, went to BB and returned. Looked for a new model, not Dell of course, purchased and went home. Immediately opened the new laptop, powered up and within 10-15 minutes, everything was all set-up and my son is now using it. Will have a separate review on the working laptop.

Dell G3 - a great choice for most gamers
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've owned this laptop for about a month and it is fantastic. It runs the games I play (War Thunder, SW Squadrons, Company of Heroes, etc.) smooth as silk on maximum graphics setting. As with all laptops I purchase I customize them to be the least intrusive as possible by using my own virus prevention software, driver updaters, and CCleaner which can remove any unwanted pre-DL'd bloatware. I recommend using a cooling pad when gaming over several hours at a time as this G3 does run a little hot. Nice bright and high res display, light up keyboard and cool styling of the case make this a really nice machine. Props to Best Buy for getting me a good deal as well.

great to catch on a deal.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great laptop especially for the sale price. The normal price honestly is too much but if you can catch it on a deal or sale well worth it. We did end up upgrading the ram as well but it was super easy to do. the lighting on the keyboard is set to low but once you find the keys to turn it up it is really bright and easy to see. The display is really nice d well. Looks very clear. the games that we are running on it arent anything crazy but still delivers.

Great laptop at a very affordable price
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm not a techie type of person, but my wife got me this laptop - one because of the sale - and to play my game on. This laptop is astounding for the price! The graphics are fantastic, I've had no lagging issues .. I probably wouldn't recommend it for big gaming, but for what I do, it's perfect. This would be a great laptop for a younger gamer, maybe just starting out, or that plays one or two games that aren't too beefy.

Not top of the line, but not disappointing.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this as a Hanuakkah present for my husband, as it was around Black Friday 2020 when it occurred. So far, this computer has been lovely. Bit bulkier than I imagined at first, but it's easy to get use to. It works like silk running over your arms, purrs when running overtime, and finds itself to the center of attention when talked about. Especially for how much I paid for it on a Black Friday sale.

Love it!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this laptop. I bought it at the beginning of January so I've had it almost 2 months now and it plays all my games wonderfully while using high graphics settings. There isn't a game yet it won't play. When you first turn it on, it will have to go through setting up windows. Be patient! It takes several hours and it will appear that it froze. Just plug it in and let it run and go to bed. I finally did that after a couple hours of watching it. Glad I didn't give up because it was ready to finish setting up when I woke up in the morning. My only thing is I wish I had a bigger hard drive because I mostly filled it up with a few larger games and had to Uninstall a couple to install another. So I will be looking for a bigger hard drive sometime soon. I do love that the one in there is very fast.

This laptop has a known defect, do not buy it.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this laptop for my son in March 2020. Within a few months the hinge for the screen became stiff and noisy. Shortly after that, the plastic trim around the screen started to separate. It has gotten progressively worse (see pictures). This is a VERY well-documented problem with this Dell laptop, and is discussed extensively on the community forums on Dell's web site. I took it back to Best Buy (while still under warranty) and they told me to deal with Dell. Dell has been incredibly unhelpful, and told me that even if the laptop was still under warranty, I would have to pay for the repairs because this was "physical damage." It absolutely is not. This laptop falls apart because the screen hinge is defectively designed and/or manufactured and Dell knows it. Best Buy needs to pull this from their stock immediately. I'm out $1,000 for a laptop that started coming apart within months due to normal use and operation. Best Buy customer since the mid-90's. Easily the worst product I've purchased.

Could be better
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an inexpensive computer that lasted me 2 years. Eventually pieces started to fall off, first chips of plastic around the battery plug-in and then the screen casing. The charger also had to be replaced once a year-in due to a defect and rupture the cable. I’ve now thrown it away since too many parts of it were just breaking and falling apart. Overall I wouldn’t recommend this computer, instead propose buying a more expensive yet more longevity, but for those who’d be ok with it lasting 2 years can buy this, since it preformed fairly well, no complaints other than a small storage capacity and being inundated with software updates, but was fine with games.

Not a VR-ready machine
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got this "VR ready" laptop for Christmas, has all the features you'd want in a lower range gaming laptop, EXCEPT the idiots at Dell hooked up the integrated graphics card to the USB C, not the nVidia card! In fact ONLY the HDMI port on the side is connected to the nVidia, everything else runs from the seriously overtaxed Intel integrated gpu. Looking closely at the whole G3, G5, G7 line you will find all of them are wired this way, useless for any heavy video tasking unless you have an hdmi driven output. Its still a Dell, great SSDI, great memory bandwidth, nice keyboard, incredible display and hours long battery. Just not a "gaming" or "VR Ready" laptop. Get the Lenovo, every single port is wired to the nVidia card and integrated graphics so you can choose which port is going to use which gpu processor.

Posted .Alexit1,
Thanks for your review and we're sorry to hear about the setup issues that you've had with your computer so far. We'd recommend dedicating the Nvidia GPU for all applications and outputs via the Nvidia Control Panel. This should allow you the performance settings that you were hoping for with regards to Virtual Reality.
