Amazing mid-tier Dell 4K Desktop monitor

This is my second Dell desktop monitor I’ve owned. First of which was/is a 1440p HDR 75hz monitor. Which we love still. We wanted to step it up to a 4K high quality monitor from a trusted brand such as dell. So we chose this one. And wow. We are all used to 4K TVs. But when you shrink the size down to that of a 27 inch monitor. You increase the PPI exponentially. This panel is super dense with super sharp pixels. You see every little detail in videos and especially video games compared to 1440p which I also have. The hdr feature is amazing as well. Super bright and clear dark scenes look beautiful. Viewing angle is solid as well. Tho not perfect in my opinion. But this panel is super bright so that’s fine with me. This unit has built in speakers ,which almost 75% of monitors DO NOT include speakers and that is another reason to choose this model. They aren’t very loud but clear and loud enough for our needs. The design is nice as well. Tho the back is white and the stand/base is a nice metal. A little odd to me but does not matter as it is the back. Who looks back there anyway right? Monitor tilts, height adjust, swivels and even goes into a vertical position if you want to do video or photo work. No complaints here. This dell 4K just works. As dell is a leader in this area and you can’t go wrong at this price point. Please note: as you can see I am gaming. I hit 60 FPS on hard to run games. But I have a beefy gaming pc set up with an rx5700xt. So you will need a decent gpu to push this monitor. But yes I highly recommend. We love it. Well built and just the most amazing picture quality! See my pictures!

    The New Desktop Standard?

The Dell S2721QS and S2721Q are the same display 4K panels with different stands. The QS has a 6-way adjustable stand, up/down, left/right and tilt while the Q version is a single-height stand with swivel and tilt. These are Dell’s entry-level 4K monitor options and unless you needed a professional monitor with exacting colors and whatever else the professional monitors have , I don't see any reason why the Dell S2721QS shouldnt be your go-to 4K monitor. The monitor is an LED edge-lit LCD panel that just looks great from any angle. I would have preferred an array backlight but I haven't noticed any halo effect around the edges on this one. The bezels are minimal and don't distract from the overall beauty of this monitor. The thin bezels do present one problem however, I have a video camera that sits on the top of the monitor and the clip that holds it up is wider than the bezel so it covers about a quarter inch of the display. There are two HDMI ports and a Displayport connector along with a line-out plug for speakers. There are no USB ports on this monitor like there are on the U Series monitors. There is also no USB-C connectivity on this monitor either, for this you also have to go to the U Series. The monitor has all the usual color and brightness adjustments in an easy to use menu so you can adjust the color to your individual liking. There are several pre-sets plus full custom control. If you don't like messing with the little buttons, download the Dell Display Manager from the Dell site and you can control many of the settings like color presets and brightness through the app. Dell also offers an optional display driver for this model however, while trying to download it, the file was flagged as a trojan virus so i've not been successful at installing it yet. Windows does recognize the monitor as plug and play so I don't see this as a major flaw. I’ve connected the S2721QS to an iMac, Chromebox and Windows PC and it works beautifly with all 3. The colors are rich and vibrant, the brightness was set to 75 out of the box and I haven't needed to change it yet. While this is a 4K monitor, at full resolution, text is just a tad small for me so I have the Windows scaling at the recommended 150%.. At 100% scaling (full 4K resolution) you can do two full-size word documents or web browsers side by side and it is readable but for me just a bit uncomfortable. This monitor will be generally connected to a Windows PC and occasionally be used with my iMac as a second screen. One of the cool features of the Dell S2721QS is the Picture-in-Picture and Picture-by-Picture mode that splits the screen between two seperate inputs so you can use multiple computers or have a video input on one side and PC on the other. There are two 3 watt down-firing speakers on the monitor which are loud enough to watch an occasional video or hear a new message in your inbox. Perfect for in my home office, loud enough to hear, not loud enough to disturb the rest of the family. You can control the volume with the under screen buttons or as I’ve done, just max it out and let the PC control it. There are no extra cables to connect for the sound, it's carried via the HTML or Displayport cables Speaking of video, 4K video on this monitor is nothing less than stunning. The crisp in-your-face color and detail will blow your mind. The display has an anti-glare coating on it which keeps reflections down as well. I’m not one to generally gush over a monitor but in my opinion, this monitor is just right. The right size for your desktop, the right resolution for stunning images and the right price for a 4K display of this size. Yes, I have absolutely recommended this monitor to all of my work-at-home friends!

I am very pleased with this monitor. I've been using it for movies, lite gaming and some photo editing. The display is crisp and clean, with super fine detail. Running it at 3840x2160 resolution. Has a thin bezel with an modern look. And come with a very neat stand that is adjustable to your needs. It can pivot, tilt, swivel, and you can adjust the height of the monitor also. As for ports you will find two HDMI 2.0 ports one displayport. Great for having multiple devices hooked up to it. And if you don't have external speakers no worries you will find two 3 watt built-in speakers on the bottom on the monitor. If you made it this far I think you should give this monitor a try and you won't be disappointed.

Outstanding 4K UHD Monitor For Daily Use

As someone who owns several Dell products, including their 1440p 144 Hz G-Sync monitor, I am quite impressed by this 27 inch 4K UHD monitor. Pros: * Aesthetics: The front of the monitor is matte black with a nice white textured pattern on the back. It has a modern look and would look great in any office space. Bonus points from me as my entire PC build it white and black. * Display: The IPS panel is one of the greatest selling points of this monitor. It provides wide viewing angles and accurate color reproduction. My previous 4K monitor was a TN panel and the difference between the two monitors is quite noticeable. Additionally, the monitor has a brightness up to 350 cd/m2 which is great if you plan to use it in a bright room. * Stand and VESA mounting: The provided stand is sturdy with the ability to pivot, tilt, swivel, and adjust the height. I decided to mount the monitor so I can confirm it is VESA compatible. * AMD FreeSync technology: If you have an AMD graphics card you can take advantage of this feature. It will allow you to have a better user experience by reducing things such as screen tearing, stuttering, and high input latency while watching movies and playing games. Cons: * Refresh rate: It is a 60 Hz monitor. From a gaming standpoint it isn't great, especially given the new release of 4K capable graphics cards that can push much higher refresh rates at this resolution. While this monitor could still provide a good gaming experience, I believe it is best suited for a daily driver and/or video multimedia usage. * Provided cables: It has two HDMI 2.0 ports and one DP 1.2 port, both of which support up to 4K at 60 Hz; however, Dell only includes a HDMI cable. As more and more graphics cards reduce the number of HDMI ports, it would be nice to have a display port cable included as well. Overall, I think Dell designed a great 4K UHD monitor. It has an outstanding display and many great features.

I am a sucker for computer monitors, always have been, just like new tv's. I have a couple of 4k monitors already from another brand and wanted to set up a third one as well. I have Dell monitors at work and I know they're built well and have great displays. Dell does a better job of anyone as far as assembly, I love how the monitor can pop on and off the stand with ease. The stand allows for 100% full rotation, tilt and height adjustment along with a cable management slot. Before adding it to my other monitors, I tried it alone with my MacBook Pro. The display looked amazing and required zero configuration to get the perfect picture. I used a USB-C to HDMI adapter and was blown away by the clarity and color of the picture. The picture is just as good as my other 4K displays which cost about $50 more. I watched some 4k videos on Amazon Prime and loved how crystal clear everything looked. I use my monitors to stream movies and live tv in my office and could not be happier with the picture. The monitor also has built in speakers which sound pretty good to me. I wasn't expecting this to have built in speakers and it's a nice touch. Mounting the monitor with my other displays was simple and I love my new monitor set up. Awesome job Dell!

Like many people these day I find myself still working from home. Recently I decided to begin using an external display monitor rather than staring at my laptop screen all day long. After a bit of research I found out a few things. One, many monitors were sold out! The reason is obvious as already stated, many people are working from home which has caused a shortage in the computer monitor market. My goal was to find a monitor that was at least 27 in wide diagonally, one that had very good resolution and refresh rate to be easy on my eyes (since I have to stare at it day in and day out. I was also looking for one that was easily adjustable in height as I like to move around a bit to keep the blood going, and the muscle aches from occurring. LOL! I also wanted one that I could change screen orientation. I often read a lot of documents and putting the screen in portrait mode allows me to see an entire page much easier then when in landscape mode. I came upon the DELL S2721QS 4K UHD HDR computer monitor, and have been using it now for close to a month. I use it all day long for work, which involves looking at documentation, computer code, attending virtual meetings, as well as in the off hours watching streaming videos, and the occasional video game. The monitor is on literally 14 hours a day. I knew all this beforehand so I made sure the monitor was going to be able to handle this heavy duty use. After about a month of usage I'm ready to render my verdict. In terms of everything I was looking for in a monitor the Dell S2721QS fits like a glove. In this price range I was impressed with this performance, its quality materials, it's vivid rich colors, and even its built-in speakers. It also has an outstanding stand which is very solid and heavy, and can be manipulated in many positions and height levels. I've noticed that my eyes are not as tired at the end of a day, like they were staring at my laptop's screen. Neck pain, headaches, shoulder stiffness and eye strain have all been reduced because of me using this monitor daily. I’m very pleased with the 4K video, the clarity of the IPS screen, the depth of colors, the low blue light output, as well as the even distribution of its backlight that to me is seemingly flicker free. At the end of the day my neck is not as sore nor are my shoulders and my eyes aren't ready to fall out of my head. The ergonomics from the adjustable stand combined with the high-quality display has made my work day more enjoyable and more productive. Other bonus features that I appreciate are the built-in speakers that play audio coming off of either of the built-in HDMI ports, or DisplayPort. The audio output is not as good as bigger freestanding speakers but are definitely much better than the speakers in my laptop. The S2721QS monitor also comes with AMD Freesync technology which makes a noticeable difference in video gaming. If you're curious about the Freesync technology I recommend going to Dell's website or AMD’s to learn more. I'm very happy with this monitor, particularly given the amount of use it gets from me. It literally serves 3 jobs, first as a computer monitor, then an HDR video TV monitor, and finally as a gaming monitor. The low blue light emission screen and all of its other features and characteristics I’ve covered are most definitely worth the extra cost of a monitor like this one. The 4K ultra high definition LCD screen is beautiful whether looking at it straight or at angle from either side. This is a terrific all-around monitor that I recommend you take a look at. It also comes with a terrific warranty from Dell, which features a free panel replacement for one year should you have any problems with pixel degradation. There are even more features that I haven't covered here, that may be of interest to you. You best bet is to speak with a Blue Shirt associate at Best Buy or at their website. For me the Dell S2721QS checks off all the boxes. I like it a lot and I think you will too!

I have a long history with Dell products, and generally speaking, I think those products are well-designed for the majority of users in the group to which they are marketed. It is for this reason that I often recommend them, and while they’re not the be-all end-all when it comes to computer equipment, Dell does a superb job of appealing to the majority, and covering many use cases. Dell’s monitors are not in particular an exception to this. Dell monitors, even the budget E-series models, have a good build quality. Obviously, as you spend more on their monitors this quality goes up, but in my years of utilizing Dell monitors, I’ve never had any significant issues in terms of build quality or wear and tear. In fact, in my basement right now is an old 17-inch square Dell monitor (which was pretty awesome when it was released) that serves as the monitor for my home server. It’s rare that I need local access to that server, however, when I do, the monitor is there…and I think it always will be. Additionally, sItting on my desk in my office upstairs, the monitor that I look at every day, is a 32” 4K Dell Ultrasharp monitor… I got a particularly good deal when I bought it, and this is by far one of the nicest displays I’ve ever used. It’s big, it’s sturdy, it looks good, and I’ve never had an issue with it. So, not surprisingly, Dell’s S2721QS, a 27” 4K Monitor from Dell was a big hit when I first put it on my desk. Computer monitors are fun to unbox because you can start using them quickly, and while I was stepping down from a larger 32” 4K monitor during testing, I was still excited to get started. This new 27” monitor has many of the same design cues as my larger Ultrasharp, including a three-sided thin bezel design. The backside of the monitor at first glance appeared to be white, but upon further inspection was actually what I would call “grayish white,” which looks great and also helps avoid the pitfall of white office equipment turning dingy-white over time (that said, maybe you’d just consider it dingy-white to begin with). And, consistent with my experience of other Dell monitors, the S2721QS is sturdy, and hefty, and feels like a solid product. To me, monitor specifications are one of the more annoying (and boring) topics when it comes to reviews. Reviews in general, for that matter, often times don’t do a monitor or display justice, since experiencing that display for yourself is such an important part of the process. That said, I have no intention of getting into the weeds of contrast ratios and response times and refresh rates and all the other things about displays which honestly just put me to sleep. There is a lot to picking out the right monitor (or a TV) for your specific use case, and I find that price has the highest impact on purchase decisions most often when dealing with monitors and televisions. Still, there has to be some set of guidelines, so I’ll do my best to describe things here as practically as possible. For starters, it is a 4K monitor—and while for many people this isn’t really a big deal (yet), I think buying a monitor in 2020 without a higher resolution is a waste of money. Budgets may be limiting, and I understand that, but I’d sooner save my pennies for longer rather than buy an inexpensive, non-4K monitor if I had the option. And, while you may not use all of that resolution, the nature of a higher resolution device is such that images will be cleaner, clearer and easier on the eyes…again, generally speaking. So, big deal, 4K monitors are a dime a dozen—and that’s true, as you may find easily in a search on Amazon—but there are other quality components to consider, even beyond build and longevity. The S2721QS supports HDR content, which will help if you plan on doing any sort of media consumption on the device. It is an IPS panel, which without getting into a ton of detail, means you have great viewing angles. And, this monitor supports AMD’s FreeSync technology, which helps in gaming applications for a smoother experience. It is this set of features that make it a great multitasking monitor, which I’ll get more into later. One of the most important features of a monitor is its input connections, and something that I want to bring up here. The monitor comes with two cables—an HDMI cable and a power cable—and the monitor supports two HDMI connections and a DisplayPort connection; it also has a line-out port in the standard 3.5 mm size. Perhaps a couple of shortcomings here are the omission of a USB hub, which has become a pretty regular feature on many of Dell’s monitors, and a USB-C connection. I understand that these are cost-value propositions, and perhaps for the S-series monitors these just aren’t included, but I really think any monitor of this size, and especially with its feature set, should include some additional connectivity options; in fact, it is the omission of these additional connections that might be a deal-breaker for me. As USB-C becomes ubiquitous, and port counts on computer devices drop as the years go on, I really think these are important components—and ones that I regularly make use of on my 32” Dell Ultrasharp. As far as performance is concerned, as I said before, much of it is in the eye of the beholder, but there are still some features that shouldn’t be ignored. The included monitor stand (which is the 2nd “S” in the part number “S2712QS”) is a really, really great stand. This is an area where Dell has always excelled, and this stand supports height adjustment, tilt, swivel and rotation up to 90 degrees. The fully-featured stand is an option, though, as the S2712Q comes with a standard monitor base that is not adjustable, but is $30 less. Also included in this monitor is a PIP/PBP option, which while being a bit of a niche feature, is still nice to have. And while a 27” monitor might be a bit small for picture-in-picture, there are applications that I could see it being useful especially considering this is a multi-tasking display. These modes, however, do require the use of a Display Port connection. The monitor’s onboard settings are accessible via four navigation buttons along the right side of the bottom edge of the screen, and they are responsive and clicky; Dell includes as a feature here (among other things) what they call “ComfortView,” which further identifies this monitor as a jack-of-all trades by providing a list of preset to adjust blue light, contrast, tint, etc., depending on the content you’re viewing. And, the volume for the onboard 3W speakers is also controlled via these buttons, although I found the volume setting to be a couple menus deep and would much prefer dedicated buttons or a remote. Still, the onboard speakers are actually pretty decent for a monitor and do the job of providing a basic audio experience if you don’t have headphones or external speakers connected to your device. As this review comes to a close, I want to inspect the price tag and try to answer the question, “what is it good for?” Because at a retail price of $449, when other 27” 4K monitors are available on Amazon for half that price, it begs the question—why spend so much? As I’ve covered a few different times in this review, it seems that the S2712QS is a monitor aimed at what I’ll call a “generic” user, who may have a mix of requirements when it comes for monitors. It’s not particularly great as a monitor in any one area, but it does a decent job in multiple, enough to maybe attract someone who is trying to find one monitor that can be used for working, gaming, and consuming media. Perhaps this could be an alternative to purchasing multiple monitors that are tailored for more specific uses cases. As a multimedia device, HDR and the onboard speakers are good features, but they’re not the best version of those features available. For regular office or school work, ComfortView and picture-in-picture (perhaps) are important. And for gaming, while it’s not the best monitor with the highest refresh rates, FreeSync and low input lag will make it a decent solution for a more casual gamer. So, maybe you’d see this in a dorm room, connected to a student’s laptop and their game console; or, in someone’s home office where time is spent working, playing and relaxing, depending on the day of the week. And while the $449 price tag is high, there is no denying it is a good all-around monitor that can serve many different needs, and in that sense, not unlike many other Dell products that have been successful in the past. But at the end of the day, buying this monitor (and any Dell product, for that matter) is a matter of brand choice. Recently, when a coworker was looking for a monitor for their kid who was going off to college, the very first place I looked was Dell’s website—and for good reason. Yes, there are plenty of less expensive 27” 4K IPS 60Hz monitors out there, but Dell makes a quality product that usually lasts a very long time. That said, even for me, $449 is a little steep—although I don’t know many people who pay full retail price for Dell equipment regardless of where it’s bought; Dell direct almost always has sales, and for retailers like Best Buy or Amazon, there are usually sales there as well. I’d be more inclined to purchase or recommend this monitor if priced in the $300-$350 range, but that’s mostly due to the omission of a couple of features that are particularly important to me. It will last though, and it has a great look and feel to it as well. It may not be for everyone, but it definitely was designed to give at least a little bit of something to everyone.

The Dell S2721QS is a great 4K UHD Monitor coupled with AMD FreeSync technology that will give you a great picture whether you are gaming or watching 4K videos. You have two HDMI Ports and a Display Port 1.2 The screen is a nice matte finish to mitigate any glare and I absolutely love the flexibility of the built in stand to adjust the screen in any myriad of positions including vertical positioning. If you are concerned with Blue Light exposure Dell employs ComfortView, a feature that reduces harmful blue light emissions to optimize eye comfort. The built in speakers are ok, but you would prob do better by augmenting with other separate speakers (utilizing the line out port on the S2721QS) so the sound can truly match the great picture. The warranty from Del is incredible with the Dell Premium Panel Exchange Program that will replace the panel for free (during the warranty period) even if only one pixel is faulty. For those Netflix Marathons or Zoom Calls due to COVID or Gaming to blow off some steam, the Dell S2721QS is a great monitor to use as the display for all your needs.

I'll admit my expectations for a monitor from Dell were rather low. It's replacing a Samsung 4K display I purchased a little over a year ago and that one was so bad I figured anything else would be a step up. This Dell has exceeded all my expectations and then some! There is literally nothing about this display I don't like. And I'm picky! First up, the ergonomics of this display are phenomenal! The base stand mounts to the back easily enough and then the real fun begins. You can, if you so choose, switch it between landscape and portrait modes easily enough. Further you can easily adjust hight, tilt, and pan just as easily. I appreciate the rather thin bezels that surround the display. There are two HDMI ports and a display port on the back as well as a 3.5mm audio out port. I recommend using external speakers as while the display has built in speakers they are rather weak and tinny sounding. They'd do in a pinch if you didn't have any other options but you will not be getting a good audio experience with them. However, the main thing one should be looking for in a display is, well, the display panel and its quality. In this the Dell really shows it's chops! It's the first display with a matte panel that in my opinion, at least, doesn't suck. Colors are quite vivid and accurate. I did some checking and discovered that LG produces these panels for Dell and I've always been a fan of LG displays. Color matches 90% of the RBG spectrum and it really makes editing photos and videos much more accurate. Before this panel I would disconnect my MacBook Pro from my dock to edit photos and videos on its built in display. That's how bad the old Samsung was. No more! This panel is accurate enough I feel confident doing edits on it now. It's got HDR built in which means watching videos on this is a pleasure! The refresh rate is on point and I've yet to notice any lag or ghosting. The one thing I can say about this is simple. This display is so good I'm actively considering getting another one so I can set up a dual display on my desk. I'll probably get the VESA mount so I can grab a couple of display arms and up my desk game even more. Buy this display. You will not regret it!

This is a great monitor. With hdmi it was plug and play and the dual inputs work great. It’s very bright and clear. Should work well for any application. The only draw back I could find was it’s a little picky when switching sources. Does always adjust well when source are different resolution but with a refresh it always cleaned up.

Full disclosure: I’ve been using the Dell S2721QS for about a week now, but I’m only halfway through my testing. Why? Because the only device I’ve been able to test with it, so far, is my Lenovo Yoga C940. The device I actually plan on using it with is the soon-to-be-released Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+, which I should be receiving very soon…thus, I was unable to test the monitor with the device it will normally be used with. Nevertheless, I was able to get a great understanding of this monitor, and make a determination on whether, or not, it’s worth spending your hard-earned money on. UNBOXING & INITIAL IMPRESSIONS: Dell really knows how to pack. This isn’t my first Dell product, or even my first Dell monitor. My current primary monitor, which my desktop gaming computer is connected to, is an Alienware 34” (ie. Dell) ultrawide curved monitor, which the previous monitor connected to the same computer was the Dell 34” ultrawide curved monitor (don’t ask…I know…replacing the ‘Del’ with the ‘Alienware’ might seem strange to some, as the two are almost identical, but the ‘Alienware’ has features (including 120Hz) that the ‘Dell’ didn’t have). Anyway…back to the unboxing. As I said, Dell really knows how to pack. Now, I’m not about to purposely drop the box (with monitor inside) from a height of 3ft, but I’d be willing to bet that the monitor would survive without any problems. I might even be willing to take up that bet from a 6ft height. The point is, Dell’s packaging is exceptional, and the monitor is extremely well-protected. Almost forgot…and, the packaging is environmentally-friendly. Packaging, aside, the truth is, I’ve had a love-hate “relationship” with Dell over the years. When Dell first came to being, their quality was questionable. Some products were ‘good’ (albeit, just barely), while others were ‘average’, and others were quite bad. It was a new company, and such was to (possibly?) be expected. As Dell matured, QC went way up, and ‘good’ was the worst I could say about Dell. Unfortunately, Michael Dell, the founder “left” the company, and the quality of Dell’s products “tanked”. Thankfully, Michael regained control of the company, and the quality went back up. Not trying to steal Ford’s Mustang ‘tag line’, but, “It is what it was.” SETUP: Honestly, what can you say about “setup” – you plug it in, you connect the HDMI cable, you turn the monitor on, and you boot up the computer. For connecting, there are 2 HDMI 2.0 ports, and 1 DisplayPort 1.2 port. While the monitor does have two 3W speakers, you’re probably better off plugging separate speakers into the 3.5mm audio jack (for even better sound, plug speakers directly into your computer’s sound card). If any drivers are needed, Windows 10 automatically installs them (and, honestly, I don’t know if any were needed). Dell’s new S-Series offers two 27” models – the S2721Q, and the S2721QS (which I have). Here’s the primary differences. That’s it for ‘setup’. Moving on………. IMAGE QUALITY: The QS has a higher resolution, adjustable height, tilt, swivel, rotates 90 degrees (to ‘portrait’ mode), and includes HDR (including HDR10), plus contrast & colors. Let’s start with those last three, which is what really makes the S2721QS a better choice than the S2721Q. The QS model covers 99% of the sRGB spectrum, and 350 cd/m2 of luminance. While not intended as a “gaming monitor”, it does include Adaptive-Sync, supporting a variable refresh rate of 40-60Hz. However, it’s that maximum of 60Hz that limits its gaming ability (thus the reason my gaming computer has a 120Hz monitor). Although the S2721QS does, include HDR, and covers 99% of the sRGB spectrum, this is still a “budget-friendly” monitor, and not intended for high-level photo editing. At the same time, its image quality is good enough that, if you decide to use it for such, it will still serve quite well. At the same time, unlike Dell’s high-end monitors, which are already color-calibrated, if you wish to use the S2721QS for anything color-related, I would highly recommend color-calibrating the monitor. ADDITIONAL THOUGHTS: Having three video inputs (2 HDMI, 1 DP), this allows you to have the monitor simultaneously connected to two different computers. Earlier, I mentioned about not getting to fully test the monitor, as I have yet to receive my Galaxy Tab S7+. With the Yoga C940, I connected it via the DP port. Once I receive the Galaxy Tab S7+, I will be plugging a Microsoft Miracast into one of the HDMI ports, as the Galaxy Tab S7+ offers a wireless version of DeX. With any monitor/TV having Miracast built-in (many TVs have this, but very few monitors, which would include the S2721QS), nothing additional is needed. However, as the S2721QS doesn’t have Miracast built in, that’s where a Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter comes into play. Simply plug the HDMI connector into the TV’s/monitor’s HDMI port, and plug the USB connector into any unused HDMI port. Oops…problem…the S2721QS doesn’t have any USB ports (for that, you have to jump up to the 32” S3221QS, which includes a built-in USB hub). No worries, as I have a ‘solution’ that others interested in a similar setup can follow. All you (and I) need is a powered USB hub, to which you plug the Wireless Display Adapter’s USB connector into that (the only purpose of the USB is to supply the chips inside with power). For this, you have two options – you can use a standard stand-alone USB hub (or even a USB charger)…or, you can use a Multi-Port USB-C adapter. While the first option is “nice”, the second option is MUCH better, as it can also be plugged into the tablet, allowing it to power the Wireless Display Adapter, while also keeping the tablet charged. Obviously, this doesn’t have anything, specifically, to do with the monitor…but, it does show you two ways of wirelessly connecting a device, be it a tablet, or a Miracast-equipped laptop, to the Dell S2721QS. FINAL VERDICT: If you want the “best bang for the buck”, the Dell S2721QS would be an excellent choice. With a 4ms response, HDR, 4K (3840 x 2160) resolution, LED backlighting, anti-glare screen, and 1,300:1 contrast ratio, it already sounds like a great monitor. Toss in its adjustability (especially its ability to rotate 90 degrees), and you have an incredible ‘productivity’ monitor. Finally, combine that with a slightly-over $300 price, and it’s even better. Now, if only my Galaxy Tab S7+ were to arrive ‘sooner’, rather than ‘later’, I could finally start using this monitor with/for the tablet’s wireless DeX feature. Lastly…if you’re a gamer, and don’t mind being “limited” to only 60Hz, with Adaptive-Sync (which supports both Nvidia G-Sync & AMD FreeSync…and, the S2721QS is fully FreeSync-certified), you CAN still using this monitor for gaming. Just, don’t expect it to be free of “blur” when playing games with high-speed movement on-screen. Disclaimer: This product was provided free, or at reduced cost, for the purpose of reviewing the product. Nevertheless, the above review, be it positive, negative, or anywhere in-between, is a 100% honest review, and the price paid played absolutely no part in my review.

The monitor is functioning as expected, good for daily work. One minor defect is that the screen would flick occasionally.

This is an awesome 4k monitor. Sharp and bright screen. You can’t go wrong with this monitor. I have this monitor on my kitchen counter top while working from work. The white/gray is a perfect match to my counter tops and cabinets The height, tilt, and swivel adjustment are features you don’t think you need but actually you will. My wife and kids are using the monitor and they need to adjust it. There are built in speakers which is a great plus.. Not the greatest speaker but good enough to use. Make sure your laptop or desktop can support 4k @ 60hz. If not, there will be a lot of lag when moving your mouse on the screen. (4k@30hz is really bad). If you're looking for a 4k monitor I would recommend this.

This monitor is fantastic and it has exceeded my expectations. It is my 3rd monitor of an all Dell 3 monitor system for my desktop. I have become such a Dell fan over the years. I appreciate quality monitors as I use my computer to color correct and edit photos. When I put this next to my main and favorite monitor, a Dell U2718Q, a fantastic monitor as it is, I was impressed with how Dell was able to improve even more since I have purchased that one. The factory settings that this monitor starts with are great for the majority of users, I however lower all of my monitors to 21% brightness and 75% contrast and it was great for when it came to comparing this monitor to other models, especially from the same brand. This monitor is extremely sharp and the quality is great. I really cannot say enough about the quality of the screen. No matter what photo or video I compare, I can see the most detail with this monitor and the refresh rate with movies is great. A huge plus is that the monitor has a built in speaker! It is the only one of my monitors that has a speaker and it is nice to have instead of waiting to connect a Bluetooth speaker when needed. I am also a big fan of the stand. Its full range of movement is great as I tend to move my monitors often and I would never consider a monitor that has a limited range of motion. My only dislike about this monitor is that it does not have a USB port on the back of it. My other high end Dell monitor does have USB ports in it so I find it strange that they stopped using them. I wanted to add LED strip backlighting that is powered by USB and ended up having to run a USB extension cord down to my computer for the power. Not the end of the world, I would just like to see something simple like USB ports built into a monitor at this price point. Overall this monitor is great and is well worth its price. Dell continues to impress me with their monitor quality and I would recommend this model to anyone looking for their main monitor or adding a second monitor. This will also be great for people who work with photos or videos when quality is a must.

I can't say enough about this monitor. I have watched quite a few 4k videos on you tube and played a couple of games that had fast action. NO blurring. NO stutter. Watching movies is amazing and leaves me in awe. The stand is versatile and can rotate the screen as needed. I am becoming a huge fan of DELL products and can see the quality in the build and the packaging of this 27" monitor. Crystal clear life like images on the screen. Really blown away with the depth and perspective of each image this screen projects. Simply Amazing

    Dell 27" UHD 4k Monitor - S27121QS

This is 27" monitor is very nice. It now sells for $449.99 MSRP. The first thing I noticed right away were the bright and brilliant colors right out of the box. I got this monitor primarily for photo and video editing. Viewing 4k videos look great. But any videos sub 4k look very soft. I especially like how the height can be easily adjusted. Screen adjustments are pretty straight forward. One thing I did notice about the monitor, is the moderate vignetting, especially in the corners. Specs: -4k UHD (2160p) 3840 x 2160 at 60Hz -LED-backlit LCD monitor TFT active matrix -16:9 Aspect Ratio -350 cd/m2 Brightness -1300:1 Contrast Ratio -AMD FreeSync -Input Ports include 2 HDMI 2.0 and 1 Display Port 1.2 1 Line-out port -3 Watt stereo speakers In the box: 1 HDMI cable, power cable, and the 27" IPS panel monitor, and desk top monitor stand. I am using this monitor in a multi monitor configuration on a single GPU on a mac. I have to scale the resolution down. If I don't do that, I have to scale the icons and text bigger but that will also scale them bigger on the other monitors as well. If this panel were bigger, then it wouldn't be as bad. I don't think this can be helped on a mac.

Simple consumer 4K monitor with Dell quality

Dell calls their S2721QS a lifestyle-inspired monitor. I am not sure what exactly that means but for most general consumers this is a very nice desktop monitor. The monitor is based on IPS screen technology. What that means to most people is that it has very good viewing angles and color. IPS is my preferred desktop monitor screen technology but it does lack in the deep blacks of other screen technologies. I don’t think that is a problem for desktop use but it might be an issue for critical movie watching. Although to get a better picture quality you have few choices and will have to pay quite a bit more. Generally other than a professional color monitor this screen is perfect for most users. One thing I really like about many Dell monitors and this one is the adjustability of the stand for height, swivel and angle. Not all monitors that have this versatility and its looks and works very well. The monitor screen image is sharp and the colors are very appealing. The monitor has two HDMI connections, a display port connection and an audio line out port. All of which makes this very easy to setup. It comes with a single HDMI cable in the box. The monitor is not targeted for gamers although Dell does claim it is compatible with AMD FreeSync. This is a 60Hz monitor and that is just fine for normal desktop use but gamers do benefit from a faster screen. The claimed response time is 8ms which is just fine for all but the most critical gamer. Yes you can game on this monitor just fine. It has very thin bezels, looks very nice, has great colors and one of the best monitor stands available. This monitor will suit most consumer lifestyles so I assume that was their intent. This is a very nice addition to any home office and should please most users. Just be warned 4K is a very high screen resolution so the text and fonts can appear very small. This can be a shock to some users but once you get used to it the available screen real-estate you get in 4K is a big benefit. Just be aware you can increase the percent of screen magnification so you can be comfortable without straining your eyes. This is done using the Windows system settings under display.

This Dell 4k monitor was a lifesaver. I was using an older 1080 and had really come not to like it. Not only was it not as clear, you just can't fit as much on the screen. This Dell 4k monitor is super clear and fits a great amount on the screen. Since I've been working from home, I've really missed the 2-monitor setup at work. This Dell works great for having 2 applications split on the screen to achieve almost the same as two screens, without making the words and numbers too small. My work pace and efficiency has increased, and my frustrations gone down. Outside of work, this Dell has 2 HDMI inputs, so I also have my personal computer hooked up. It automatically detects which computer is on and switches the input and if I want to switch while both are on, you just go through the menus. Videos play smoothly and again, it is super clear and the colors great due to the HDR. If you have other electronics with HDR, you'll also love it here. It looks so lifelike that you feel like you can reach through and touch it. The whites are so bright that I had to change my Microsoft Office template to a darker one because all of the white was starting to hurt my eyes. On the flip side, the blacks are black and not a glowing dark grey that you might get with other monitors. I would highly recommend this monitor.

Dell again makes a great monitor. This one compliments my Surface Book perfectly with its aesthetic and its performance is what you'd expect from Dell. Full 4K, great connectivity. My SB2 can push it via a USB-C -> HDMI adapter without issue at full 60Hz refresh. I can't speak for the gaming side, but there are options in the menu to go to "extreme" refresh rate which I can only assume would be a gamer's dream :) I spend most of my day looking at text on the screen and it's razor sharp and I've had no issues with connectivity coming out of sleep, etc. Great monitor!

I got this to use with my MacBook Pro and WOW am I glad I did. The picture quality is superb. Granted this is my first foray into 4K at all, but I can't imagine a sharper image. Whether I'm editing a word document, playing a game or editing video for our website, this size and clarity of this monitor makes it that much easier on my eyes. I appreciate the dual HDMI ports in the back so I can easily switch between my work PC laptop and my MacBook Pro. I would definitely recommend this monitor.
