Small beast, very impressive!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent small laptop. Good battery and very nice screen. Very powerful in a small chassis. Very convenient to carry on a backpack or messenger bag. I do not have any issue with app compatibility. It runs quiet and cool. You have to get used to keyboard. I have it with the surface laptop 7th generation copilot same snapdragon x elite but this computer is superior, especially running multiple external monitors.

AI-Powered PC: A Game-Changer for Productivity
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first Copilot PC powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, and it’s nothing short of a turbocharged machine equipped with an integrated NPU (Neural Processing Unit). Having extensively used Copilot on my work PC, I was eagerly waiting to get my hands on one for home use, and I must say, this PC lives up to its promise. What Makes This PC Stand Out? This PC is all about Copilot, which has been a game-changer for me in terms of productivity. The NPU is the secret sauce for anyone looking to get tasks done in minutes instead of hours. If you’re into photo or video editing, the performance boost is noticeable right away. As someone who values efficiency and productivity, I’m all about streamlining simple tasks, and Copilot delivers that effortlessly. If you want to fully harness the capabilities of Copilot’s AI assistant, this PC is the ideal choice. After a week of extensive use, here’s my detailed breakdown of the pros and cons and why this PC stands out from the crowd. It’s worth noting that this isn’t an apples-to-apples comparison unless you’re evaluating it alongside another Copilot-enabled PC with an Intel processor. Why Copilot with a Snapdragon Processor and NPU Stands Out 1. Multitasking Efficiency: ○ The Snapdragon processor efficiently distributes workloads across the CPU cores, and with the turbocharged NPU and 32GB of memory, applications run seamlessly. Even with demanding software like Adobe Photoshop Elements, the cooling fan didn’t kick in—a testament to the processor’s efficiency and thermal management. 2. Power Efficiency and Battery Life: ○ Snapdragon processors are known for their lower power consumption, translating to extended battery life. During my usage, the PC lasted a full 12 hours on a single charge with simple applications, and I still had 20% battery left at the end of the day. This is a huge improvement over traditional laptops I used so far. 3. Copilot-Driven Features: ○ Copilot takes the PC experience to the next level with features like enhanced Microsoft Office tools, AI-powered video conferencing tools, real-time threat detection for improved security, and many others. These features integrate seamlessly into everyday tasks, making applications load faster and operate more efficiently. These are the tools I use the most on day-to-day basis and can't emphasize enough on the Copilot improved my productivity on daily tasks. Performance Highlights • Adobe Photoshop Elements: ○ Performance was noticeably better compared to my previous PC (16GB RAM, Intel i7 processor), especially with large video editing files. The integrated NPU and AI features makes tasks like auto-tagging photos and enhancing image quality significantly faster and more intuitive. While there was a slight learning curve during installation, the overall experience was smooth and impressive. • Microsoft Teams Enhancements: ○ Video calls are enhanced with improved video quality, real-time noise suppression, and live transcription/translation capabilities. The noise suppression was so effective that it eliminated the need for a headset, which is a big plus for long meetings or collaborative calls. Specifications Here’s a quick overview of the specs and my experience with them: 1. Display: ○ 13.4" OLED touchscreen with 2880 x 1800 resolution, 400 nits brightness, and a 60Hz refresh rate. The screen delivers vibrant colors and excellent detail, making it perfect for watching videos, editing photos, and light gaming. The visual experience is a definite highlight. 2. Processor and NPU: ○ Powered by 12 cores with Dual Core Boost up to 4 GHz and an integrated NPU for AI tasks. The performance boost in application loading and running was notable and adds significant value for heavy users of productivity software. 3. Memory and Storage: ○ 32GB of RAM ensures smooth multitasking, and the 1TB SSD offers fast read/write speeds, providing plenty of space for heavy files and projects. 4. Graphics: ○ The Qualcomm Adreno 741 GPU is efficient for everyday graphics tasks like video playback and editing. However, it’s not designed for advanced gaming, as I noticed lags and screen freezes in a few demanding games I tested. 5. Battery Life: ○ Rated for 19 hours of use with standard applications, this PC has the best battery life I’ve experienced in a laptop. Even with moderate to heavy use, it easily lasted a full day without needing a recharge. 6. Design and Connectivity: ○ Lightweight at just 2.6 pounds, this laptop is highly portable and easy to carry around. It features two USB4 ports, Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth 5.4, ensuring fast and reliable connectivity. I love the sleek capacitive LED touch function keys and the invisible touchpad, both of which have drawn a lot of attention. However, it does take a few days to get used to the new keyboard and touchpad design. I do wish it included tactile feedback, as it would enhance the overall usability. Why I Liked These Features Over Others in the Market • The battery life and power efficiency stood out as a major improvement over previous laptops I’ve owned, which required frequent charging during the day. This PC’s ability to handle a full workload without breaking a sweat is unmatched. • The NPU-powered performance for AI tasks felt like a significant leap forward, especially for tasks like photo enhancement and noise suppression in video calls—features that my earlier PCs struggled with. • The quiet operation and lack of fan noise during intensive tasks is a rare find and adds to the overall user experience. Overall Impression This PC is an excellent choice for heavy Copilot users and those requiring an efficient system for demanding tasks like video editing and video conferencing. The noise suppression feature during calls is the best I’ve experienced, removing the need for a headset entirely. The only downside I’d mention is the lack of support for legacy software, which could be limiting for certain users. That said, I’m optimistic that more applications will be optimized for Snapdragon PCs in the near future. If you’re looking for a powerful, efficient PC with the best battery life and seamless Copilot integration, this is an investment worth making.

Overpriced with average battery life
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The form factor of the laptop is awesome. It's at a higher price point compared to competition. If you are looking for sleek yet powerful go for it. If you are not concerned with portability other brands have cheaper options with similar specs. Battery is average and does not live up to the expectations as claimed by Dell.

A Snappy Fast Beauty at a High Cost
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I own another Dell XPS 13 similar to this model, and they’re nearly identical, differing only in the processor, GPU, and the Quad HD touchscreen display. Like my previous one, this laptop features exceptional build quality, a sleek design, and impressive performance. Part of the surface is made of glass, offering a smooth texture that resists fingerprints. The device is incredibly compact and lightweight, almost the width of a smartphone. The 13-inch display is extremely bright, with minimal bezels that create a nearly edge to edge, immersive look. The touchscreen is highly responsive and delivers stunning color reproduction. Like my previous, it includes haptic touch shortcut buttons along the upper edge of the keyboard. They are responsive, backlit, and enhance usability. The mouse pad is smooth and seamlessly integrated with the wrist rest, creating a continuous, minimalist design. In other words there is no separation between the mouse and the wrist rest, it is just one continuous look. Although the keyboard is compact due to the laptop's size, it offers a comfortable typing experience with soft, quiet, backlit keys that resist fingerprints. It also includes a dedicated button for Windows Co-Pilot AI. The power button, which also functions as a fingerprint scanner, is located next to the backspace key. It is a bit hard to find at first, unless you pay attention to the plastic cover that will be on the device, when you unbox it. This laptop comes with a Snapdragon X Elite 12 core processor, 32GB of memory, 1TB SSD and Qualcomm Adreno graphics. It has Bluetooth and only two USB type C ports. Setting it up is very simple, especially if you already have a Microsoft email. I was impressed with this laptop's performance. It was fast, smooth opening programs and multitasking. In my experience this laptop is great for traveling, work and entertainment. It is extremely light and is like carrying a tablet. Battery life according to the manufacturer you'll get approximately 24 hours. After the initial full charge I did some moderate usage to include live gaming and the battery after a few days it was still over 50%. Despite its small size, the speakers are surprisingly loud. If you are looking for a laptop to play video games, I will say go elsewhere. This specific model will be able to handle mobile games as much. Regular games won't even let you install them, at least the ones I tried. However, It did handle Microsoft cloud gaming very well. I tried BO6 cloud gaming and I was very surprised how well it ran. The only thing I noticed was a tiny input lag. The game graphics look very nice for this to run in the cloud and this ARM processor. The front-facing camera is adequate for video calls and works well with Windows Hello for facial recognition, even in low light. The fingerprint scanner is quick and reliable. On the downside, the limited ports, just two USB-C can be inconvenient, especially when one is occupied for charging, necessitating a hub for expanded connectivity. The external chassis is a fingerprint magnet, in contrast to the interior. Lastly, the price. This is a 13 inch laptop with an ARM processor, despite the great premium build it doesn’t justify the price in my opinion. There are plenty of other options including gaming laptops around this price. Overall, this compact, lightweight laptop is perfect for travel, work, and entertainment. It is beautiful and nicely designed that incorporates a glass surface. The screen is bright and vivid, and responsive to the touch. The internal speakers are loud. Despite a few shortcomings like limited ports and its cost, the device is fast, cool, and whisper quiet. In the box includes the laptop, a power adapter, USB-C cable, and manuals.

Light Weight Powerhouse
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The XPS line is the premier lineup for Dell and the XPS 13 with snapdragon is built and designed to be a combination of the best design with excellent hardware and a step into the evolution of windows on ARM processors. Design: The Dell XPS is the best designed laptop out there, the borders on the screen are ridiculously small and the keyboard layout is like no other. I love how the keyboard goes all the way to the edge and there is no trackpad showing, while you may think its going to be hard knowing where the trackpad is that was never an issue for me. I did not even have to adjust to knowing where the trackpad should be as it is centered. The build quality is exceptional, there are no creaks to the laptop. You can open the lid easily with one finger and there is NO screen wobble unless your using the touch screen. Dell has also made this one of the lightest laptops ever, I could not even tell I was carrying it with me which is excellent for travelling. Keyboard/Trackpad: The Keyboard for the Dell is excellent and on par with the best keyboards on the market from any company. The trackpad works perfectly, I wish all companies would use haptic trackpads. One of the things that the XPS has that no other laptop does is a soft coated palm rest and it’s an absolute must, unlike other laptops your wrist won’t be cold when first turning on the laptop or get hot while using it. This is one of those life improvement touches that no one really talks about but once you use it you never want to go without. Battery life: As mentioned above, Dell is stepping into the evolution of windows by going with ARM processors and the main reason for this is battery life. I did a few tests to see how long I could run this laptop, and it was better than I expected. When streaming content at 25% brightness, I was able to get 14 hours before the laptop shutdown. When playing local videos, I was able to get 16 hours, these numbers are expectational especially when you take into account this is a OLED screen. Performance: The XPS 13 powers through just about everything that you throw at it, the 32 GB of ram is more than enough for all task. All the ARM apps have worked great, there is no lag/studder when doing anything. When using photoshop everything was snappy and exporting was a breeze. Most of the applications I use on a daily already have ARM apps and the ones I ran through emulation worked fairly well, they are not perfect though and I’m assuming this will get better with time as windows is transitioning to ARM processing. When using some non-ARM apps (premier pro) I did have it crash on me but when this did happen I was looking at the processor and noticed it was barely being utilized, under 10 percent. When using premier pro to scrub the timeline everything was quick with no delays (all on battery power). When exporting through premier everything worked great and performance was on par with other windows machines (when it didn’t crash). This makes me believe that windows still has some work to do on the emulation side, once this is done there should be no issues with legacy applications. One of the most impressive things was when I connected a external display the XPS was able do 120 htz along with HDR on a 5K screen. Screen/Sound: The screen on the XPS 13 is excellent, OLED is the only way to go and there is no comparison. The screen does get to 500 nits which is plenty bright for all environments. Along with brightness this is one of two laptop lineups that get adaptive color correct along with automatically increasing/decreasing brightness. The touch panel on the screen also works as intended and all my touches always registered. The sound from the XPS is great for details, all the highs and mids sound perfect. Dolby Atmos works great for movies and you get great spatial audio for music tracks. The lows were a bit muted but with the small footprint of the XPS I wasn’t expecting it to have great lows. The XPS is the best lightweight laptop on the market. It provides everything needed for productivity and I didn’t have to worry once about the battery throughout the day, in fact I was able to get through 2 workdays without plugging in. Not everything is perfect, and games are a hit and miss but I feel that’s more of a windows problem as the XPS never used more than 18 GB of ram. The GPU is a bit underpowered for gaming but given the size of the machine this is a given. While there are some downfalls to windows on ARM there are many improvements which have been sorely lacking. Fan noise is basically non-existent and waking the laptop from sleep works as well as your phone does. Another huge thing that was great with the XPS is the quick search FINALLY works. Overall, the XPS 13 is an excellent machine that weighs next to nothing and is a dream to use and I would highly recommend it to anyone.

TINY, YET SO POWERFUL!!!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Don’t let its size fool you, this laptop may only look small from outside but inside it packs a punch. This is the new Dell XPS 13 -Copilot+ PC. Inside you will find everything from a beautiful OLED touchscreen display to the new Snapdragon X Elite with Dual Core Boost processor. So, let’s go over what this sleek and powerful laptop has to offer. Specifications: Processor: Snapdragon X Elite 12 Core with Dual Core Boost processor Display: 13.4-inch 3K (2880 x 1800) Touchscreen display with webcam Memory: 32 GB memory Storage: 1 TB SSD Graphics: Adreno Graphics Connectivity: WIFI 7, Bluetooth 5.4, 2 x USB-C ports Design and Portability: It is almost surreal how compact, durable and yet powerful this laptop is. From its solid aluminum construction and glass display combined with the graphite color gives this laptop a sophisticated, sleek design and the durability to take on everyday tasks. The portability is just simply amazing, this laptop is less than an inch thick when closed 11.6 inches wide, 7.8 inches deep and only weighs about 2.6 pounds, meaning this can fit in any bag and even fit in my wife’s handbag. This laptop is the perfect companion for someone always on the go. Display: As I had mentioned before, don’t let its size deceive you. The 13.4-Inch OLED 3K display is just simply stunning. The colors are incredibly vibrant, and the blacks are deep and true, and the touch screen is very responsive and adds a layer of convenience, making it easy to navigate, the only downside is that it only supports 60Hz refresh rate, which is good enough for being productive such as video or photo editing, content creating, watching a movie or just simply browsing the web. The display is also anti-reflective, infinity edge and eye safe. The display also features a 1080p FHD camera and microphone for your audio and video calls. Processing power: I have been testing this out for the past couple of days and honestly, it took everything I threw at it like a champ. Multitasking was a breeze, content creation / photo and video editing was not a problem, and just everyday use was all smooth sailing. The processor + memory ensures that even the most demanding task runs smooth and efficiently. Connectivity and Battery Life: The laptop offers 2 USB4 Type-C ports with DisplayPort and power. I used the type-c ports to connect this laptop to my monitor for extended display, but this laptop also does offer wireless projection as well. If you have a WIFI 7 router this laptop does come equipped with WIFI 7, I have 6E and even on that I was able to achieve great download speeds. The battery life is also great, with 32 percent battery, I had about 2 hours of use left on average usage. Overall, this PC really did surprise me. The combination of a stunning OLED display, powerful Snapdragon X Elite processor, ample memory, storage and premium build offers a lot in a compact design that is easy for on the go. This laptop has become my new everyday and everywhere laptop and once you give this a shot, I am sure you will love it as much as I do.

Ultra lightweight, 3K display, and fast processor
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Dell XPS 13 Copilot+PC is a fast machine that looks amazing and makes my business and personal computer tasks so much easier. I'm absolutely loving the sleek design and ultra slim profile. This is a fantastic laptop for portability, display quality, and power capability. Right out of the box you'll notice the slim profile and minimal design which looks upscale and classy. This is a touch screen OLED display with 2880x1800 pixels, so it's comparable to 3K quality. The screen looks crisp, clear, and all the colors are very vibrant. The screen can get nice and bright at 500 nits. Unfortunately it's a 60Hz screen, so I had hoped for a higher refresh rate in a premium product like this one. Packed with 32GB of RAM feels quite sufficient and very fast for the tasks I've done so far. The SSD within allows for 1TB of storage, but you can easily expand that with an external drive if you choose to. The new Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite chip seems very fast and super snappy for tasks like business applications, streaming, content creation, and browsing. The graphics card is a Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite Adreno which for my purposes has been performing quite well when used for various applications and movie streaming. I do not plan on using this for PC gaming. This has a comfortable backlit keyboard with a fully flush keycap type for a nice sleek look. There is a seamless glass touchpad on the bottom portion of this laptop that is integrated into the finish and doesn't physically show an actual rectangle area. The touch function row keys are a nice look that allow for toggle between media and function keys which is a pretty unique look for a minimalist design. There are 2 ports in total to stay with this minimal design and look. A USB Type-C port on the left and another USB Type-C on the right side. If you have a need for extra ports you'll need to provide your own hub for more connectivity. I have been using my laptop plugged into the power adapter on one port, and using the other port to connect to my external monitor. I've used this for work and personal Teams calls and the webcam has a high resolution 1080p quality, along with AI powered features like background blur, automatic framing, and Eye Contact which makes the person you're talking to think you're engaged directly with the camera. The Copilot+PC function has been incorporated into Windows 11 and this also makes for a Copilot key on the keyboard. This is a functionality that is powered by the new NPU Snapdragon X Elite for fast processing. I've used it for searching my emails and hard drive for a specific document I need and it's proven to be helpful with results in seconds. This machine is meant for business savvy users, or on the go college scholars. It's ultra portable, super lightweight, and instant in its responses. Performance is fantastic on all fronts from what I've been doing with it. The battery life lasts a long time as I'm sitting here at a vehicle repair shop without my plug adapter, and not worried about how much battery life I have left. This laptop is whisper quiet and doesn't even generate any noticeable heat. That is a testament to how well the internal fans and processor work so efficiently. The quad speaker design sounds fantastic for movies I've been consuming on Disney+ and also on Amazon Prime. Overall I give this one a high recommendation for someone looking for a high end laptop for years to come. Reliable, fast, and lightweight. This has become my daily laptop and I'm loving its efficiency.

My New Work and Travel Companion
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ll admit: when the first line of these new Copilot+ PCs was announced, I told myself that I would wait at least another year or two for the bugs to be ironed out. But when I saw the XPS 13 on display at my local Best Buy, I changed my mind. I was immediately drawn to the sleek and lightweight design of the XPS 13 along with its incredibly fast performance. Now that I’ve used the machine for two weeks, it continues to amaze me every time I pick it up. How can a machine this small pack this much performance, have such great battery life, and stay so cool? It’s quickly become my new daily driver as I move between the home and office, but it does have a few drawbacks compared to larger laptops and x86-based machines. === DESIGN & BUILD QUALITY === - In this day and age, it takes a lot for me to be impressed by the design of a laptop. But when I first saw this XPS 13 model, I actually said “Wow!” out loud and spent 5 minutes just admiring how thin and light it is. It weighs just 2.5 pounds and is less than 15mm thin. It’s even lighter and more compact than a 13” MacBook Air. - The machine is made of a high-quality aluminum and not cheap plastic. It has a very premium and sleek feeling. - I love the graphite color of this model. I was worried that it would be a fingerprint magnet, but that’s not the case. It does show some fingerprints here and there, but they wipe away very easily. - There are only two ports on the laptop: one USB 4 Type C port on each side. I’m fine with USB-C being the only type of port offered, but I wish there were at least one more USB-C port on the laptop. When you’re charging the laptop, you’re left with just one port for external storage or other accessories. - The hinge on the display is very strong with absolutely no wobble. Opening and closing the display is a very satisfying experience. === DISPLAY, KEYBOARD, TRACKPAD, & AUDIO === - This model of the XPS 13 is equipped with a 60Hz OLED touchscreen display with a 2880x1800 resolution. Simply put, it’s gorgeous. The bezels are impossibly thin. Colors are rich and vibrant. Viewing angles are perfect. It can get incredibly bright (up to 400 nits) when needed. The only downside to keep in mind is that the OLED display will result in slightly worse battery life compared to non-OLED models of the XPS 13 (more on that below). But to me, it’s worth the tradeoff. - The keyboard has an edge-to-edge design that spans the width of the laptop. The keys are fairly large for such a small laptop, but they are very close together. I often find that I accidentally press multiple keys at the same time, but I’m starting to adjust to it. The keys have a satisfying amount of travel and actuation. The keyboard is backlit, but there is only one level of brightness. - The function row above the keyboard is capacitive – there are no physical keys for things like volume, play/pause, and screen brightness. Even the escape and delete keys are part of this capacitive button row. It works well enough, but I really don’t see why Dell couldn’t have just included one more row of physical buttons atop the keyboard. - The touchpad is one of the best I’ve used on any laptop. It’s haptic, so you can click anywhere on and get a satisfying “click,” including at the very top near the spacebar. The touchpad is covered in smooth glass and blends in with the surrounding wrist rest. While this makes for a sleek design, it can sometimes be difficult to tell where the touchpad begins and ends. In general, the touchpad boundaries line up with the width of the spacebar. - For such a small laptop, the speakers are very good. They get very loud with minimal distortion at high volumes. There’s some amount of bass, but the speakers overall sound rather “tinny” and hollow, especially compared to a MacBook Air. === PERFORMANCE, COOLING, & BATTERY LIFE === - This is the first ARM-based Windows PC I’ve used. I was initially worried about application compatibility, but that really hasn’t been an issue. Most of my productivity applications already have ARM versions available, including Office apps, Photoshop, Chrome, Dropbox, 1Password, and more. Most x86 apps install and run perfectly fine, but there might be a handful that have compatibility issues (especially with games), so you’ll want to do some research beforehand. - The Snapdragon X Elite processor is very fast and efficient. Geekbench 6 reported a multi-core score of 14528 and a single core score of 2812. This is faster than my M1 Pro MacBook Pro. The entire system is extremely responsive and can easily handle any productivity task. This model has 32GB RAM, which for me is an absolute necessity for having multiple browser tabs and applications running. - The laptop gets slightly warm when under heavy loads (like running benchmarks or exporting video files), but nowhere near as warm as I was expecting. As such, thermal throttling doesn’t appear to be an issue here – performance should remain consistent even during longer high-intensity workloads. - Battery life is excellent, even with this bright and high-resolution OLED display. A few days ago, I brought the XPS 13 into my office and left the charger at home. I used it on battery all day for 8 to 9 hours of emails, Word files, Excel spreadsheets, video calls, and more. When I got home, the battery still had about 30% charge remaining, so I continued using it for about another 2 hours before the battery finally reached 0%. So that’s nearly 11 hours of battery life, and I’m sure I could have gained another couple of hours had I dimmed my screen a bit more. I have no complaints with these results. But if you want even longer battery life, then you may want to opt for one of the XPS 13 models with the non-touch lower resolution display, which I’ve read can get an incredible 20 hours of battery life. === SOFTWARE AND OTHER THOUGHTS === - There is a 1080p webcam on the bezel above the screen. It’s not the best quality (everything looks slightly washed out to my eyes), but it’s good enough. Most importantly for me, it supports Windows Hello so you can log into Windows with just your face. - A fingerprint reader is also included to the right of the Backspace key if you prefer to log in that way. - The XPS 13 is capable of Wi-Fi 7, so there is some future-proofing built in. I've run several speed tests while connected via MLO to my ASUS GT-BE98 Pro router. I consistently max out my Internet speed of 940mbps (download and upload). - At this point, “Copilot+” is more marketing than functionality. The much-hyped “Recall” feature still hasn’t been released for Copilot+ PCs, so all you’re really getting for now is the Copilot button on the keyboard, some “Cocreator” image creation features in MS Paint, and some webcam effects for video calls. I’m hoping Microsoft will find some more meaningful ways to better take advantage of the powerful AI capabilities of the Snapdragon X Elite. - McAfee anti-virus software is installed by default, and it’s just as bloated and unnecessary as ever. It comes with a 1-year trial subscription if you do want to use the software. Personally, I uninstalled it right away. === OVERALL === It’s been a while since I was this impressed with a new laptop. I’ve previously avoided so-called “ultrabooks” like the XPS 13 due to their poor battery life, poor thermals, limited RAM, and other tradeoffs compared to larger, more traditional laptops. But with the Snapdragon X Elite and stunning OLED display, Dell has turned the XPS 13 into a no-compromises machine that can easily power through any task and last all day on battery. I still find myself in awe at the design and tiny footprint of XPS 13 – it really is marvel of modern computing.

Powerful travel companion
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Verdict: The Dell XPS 13 OLED Touch Laptop is powerful, portable, and beautiful. Despite being light and small, this laptop has an OLED screen, a Snapdragon X Elite processor, 32 GB or RAM, lots of storage, and built-in AI. While it is pricey, the specs are excellent, leaving only the graphics card with room to improve. This laptop is now my primary travel and commuting laptop. It’s everything I need since I don’t usually game when traveling. The laptop is ideal for traveling professionals who need a powerful and reliable computer on-the-go with a lasting battery. First impressions. Love the packaging presentation! The box is a great storage or transportation option with organization slots for the cables and charging block. The charging block is fairly small, helping with portability. This laptop is quite small, thin and light. The exterior finish is metal and feels premium. The color is fine and I like the simplicity. I love that the screen has a very thin bezel and the screen is crisp, bright, and vibrant immediately upon opening. The keyboard keys are flat and perfectly level with the rest of the surface, providing a seamless look. The power button at the top right is discreet and allows fingerprint access… very nice! The touchpad is not visible, but provides a large working surface and click feedback when pressed. Above the keyboard are quick access touch keys that light up for volume, mute, play, key backlighting, screen brightness, display settings, and a few others… Hot keys are really nice and implementation with “touch” is a great design feature. There is a webcam without a physical shutter. Functionality - Face recognition login works impeccably and is so convenient! - The Copilot button is a great feature. I have seen this on a different laptops now and I suspect it will become common on all laptops very soon. When pressing the AI button, a window immediately appears and the cursor is in the typing box so you can start typing right away. I subscribe to a different AI service unfortunately, so I can’t take maximum advantage of Copilot, but may switch to it for convenience. - AI is integrated into laptop functionality in other ways as well. It looks like on-computer AI helps search files, optimizes performance, and enables very cool tools like Live Captions (very impressive live transcription from any language into any other language… try it!). - Key action is on the low side and typing (almost silent) is comfortable and natural. I am very happy with the keyboard feel, and it just looks great. The mouse pad works well and includes all the typical Windows functionality (2-finger scroll, 3-finger swipes, etc.). While the no-border look for the touchpad is sleek, I think I would prefer a visible or tactile border. I often end up out of the touchpad boundaries. I think a very discreet tactile border would still achieve the same look, while improving practical usage. - Speakers are louder than expected, and adequate for most requirements. Sound is very good and balance at low volume, but the lack of bass become noticeable at full volume, but that’s not a problem for me… I am not throwing dance parties with my 13-inch laptop! Performance. The specs on the Dell XPS 13 are very impressive, especially the 32 GB of RAM, Snapdragon X Elite, and 1TB SSD hard drive. This computer will handle any multitasking, endless browser tabs, and demanding programs, all at once! Of note, this laptop is not for gamers or graphic designers; the integrated graphics card will struggle to run graphically-demanding applications. The OLED Full HD screen is wonderful and touchscreen functionality is very convenient. Things I love. - Premium finish and sleek design - Very thin, small, and light – great for travel! - Impressive battery life that lasts for hours - Strong specs for all users, minus gamers and graphic designers - Quality sound that gets pretty loud - Great webcam - Comfortable silent keyboard and good touchpad - Excellent hot “touch” keys - Runs very quietly and stays cool - Integrated Copilot and on-computer AI Things I don’t love. - I wish the touchpad had a tactile border so I end up less often trying to mouse or click outside the boundaries - A physical shutter on the webcam would be more secure and prevent accidental sharing of video Overall, the Dell XPS 13 is fantastic! It’s a premium laptop that delivers top performance with lasting battery, and it looks good doing it! Perfect for traveling professionals or for use on-the-go due to it’s portability and small footprint. It’s a bit pricey, but what you have is high performance in as small a package as possible. I recommend this laptop at full retail price, and highly recommend it if it’s on sale. I love it.

Great daily driver for business and entertainment
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop is the most enjoyable one I have used as the daily driver in years. The portability factor wins big. It is lightweight, runs cool and quiet, and it has very good battery life. I use it mainly for work and entertainment. The design is great and elegant. The invisible touch pad elevates the design to another level. The material matches the look as it feels solid and premium. First things first, though. The laptop sports a Snapdragon Elite X processor. Now this is not the typical Windows OS processor as it uses a different kind of microprocessor architecture. Consequently, apps either need to be emulated by Windows or be built from the ground up for Arm processors. Snapdragon processors are known for their energy efficiency while still packing good punch, however, not all apps are optimized with this kind of processor. The good news is, if what you do only requires working with MS Office apps, you won’t know the difference. They will all work fine and all’s good. Adobe Creative Cloud apps such as Premiere Pro works. Windows 11 has been great these days in providing seamless translation of apps to ensure app compatibility with Snapdragon processors. For typical usage, most of the time it doesn’t feel like using an Arm-based processor is a problem at all. I use the laptop mainly for general entertainment and business purposes such as working with MS Word files and PDFs. For both purposes, this laptop has been performing really well. I also use the laptop to slice models for 3D printing using specific app provided by my 3D printer company and it works great. The laptop is quiet and runs cool, which makes it enjoyable to use on the lap. Having said that, there’s no guarantee that all apps will work optimally. Apps that I use so far don’t have a problem. Games, however, would also be a different story but that’s simply because it is not a gaming laptop. I would be using my gaming laptop for gaming but some games may work well within reasons, just expect not to run the latest and greatest AAA games. Setting up the laptop is easy and standard enough. Initial setup should prompt you to update the OS and the firmware automatically. There’s another set of firmware updates to be installed, which is accessible through Dell’s Support Assist app. It is very important that you’re getting the latest firmware updates otherwise you will not be getting the best experience in terms of app performance. After ascertaining that the laptop got the latest firmware update, I have no problem with the general performance of the laptop including the touch screen. It just works well for my use. I said earlier that this laptop wins big on portability factor. It is light, compact and thin. Even though it is only a 13-inch class laptop, the screen looks expansive thanks to an almost bezel-less design. The screen is just beautifully looking one, it is bright and it has anti-reflective coating that works very well. The OLED truly shines here, and it makes watching a movie real pleasure. The audio performance is also nice as it competes in performance with other high-end business laptops. Both the Windows Hello and video conferencing cameras sit on top of the screen. However, there is no physical privacy shutter as it is commonly found in premium laptops these days. The Windows Hello camera allows for seamless log in, and on top of that the laptop also has fingerprint reader. The laptop comes with one year subscription of McAfee+ Premium software, which is nice. Also, this is a Copilot Plus laptop, which of course brings the perk of AI image generation to your heart’s content. Another thing that I don’t really like about the laptop is that it only has two USB-C ports. When you use one of the ports for power, you’ll be left with just one available port so you will need to get a dongle if you need more ports. Some people may not need to get a dongle as they can survive with just one USB C port available. Like: Lightweight and very portable Sleek and modern design Excellent screen Excellent battery life Don’t Like: No privacy shutter for the camera Only has 2 USB-C ports While this laptop has some flaws, they’re not major for me. This is still a great laptop. I would say that this laptop would be great for executives and business professionals. Having said that, college students should appreciate the portability, superb battery life and its excellent screen so long that the laptop is within their means.

Slim, Powerful, AI
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When it comes to laptops Dell has come a long way in terms for its product array. They not longer offer low end laptops but are now entering the AI space with this laptop. Unboxing this laptop was a great experience. It comes packed in a hard clam shell which really protects the laptop it self. Inside the box it is again packed in another hard cardboard case. This level of effort in the packing really shows me how proud Dell is about this product. After the unbox was complete a few things really stood out to me; the slim design, the spec and the AI that is built into this machine. Firstly, the design is slim, and I mean very slim. The picture doesn't quite do it justice but the thickness of this laptop is less than 1/2 inch thick. This blew my mind that it was this thin. Never the less it had a sturdy build to it, even for being a touch screen which blew my mind. From a component standpoint there are only 2 USB-C ports which seems a bit low but not a deal breaker for me. The OLED display is bright and vivid and does not disappoint. 512GB SSD and 16 GB of memory is a decent set up for a mid tier laptop as this one. This is not a gaming laptop so please do not get your hopes up if that is what you are looking for. On the keyboard there is actually a copilot (AI) button that is located next to the right alt key. This is cool as it acts as a short cut to all things MS copilot related. Super groundbreaking stuff to have a key like this on a laptop. There is no predefined mousepad either which is a nice touch, only a solid black panel. From an accessory standpoint there is not much provided aside from a USB charger which is shipped in 3 pieces. All in all this laptop can act as a great work of school laptop. It has adequate memory and storage and is lightweight, yet not flimsy. It is also modeled around AI and the potential such can unlock. Highly recommend if you are looking for these features.

Lots of power in a small form factor
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This small form factor laptop packs a real punch. With its bright OLED touch screen, fast Snapdragon processor, 32GB RAM and 1TB SSD drive, it’s got many times more horsepower than my desktop from only a few years ago. Not much comes in the box. Besides the laptop, it comes with a 60W Dell power supply and cables, plus a QR code that takes you to instructions etc. I opened the lid and the first thing I faced was how to turn it on. (It’s the unmarked key just to the right of backspace.) I plugged it in, powered it up and went through the standard Windows 11 set up process. Next thing I did was grab PassMark and run a performance test. I was pleasantly surprised. While not all of the individual tests were stellar, it came out with a PassMark score of 11010.1 overall, right out of the box with no tweaks. Not bad for an all-purpose, highly portable laptop. The touchscreen is bright and responsive. Its native resolution seems to be 2880x1800. So, it’s not 4K. But on a 13 inch screen, it works. Note this is a laptop and not a convertible. The screen only opens to about 160 degrees. It doesn’t turn into a tablet. But it pivots enough that I can always find a comfortable viewing angle. The touch pad is a bit different in appearance. While there’s no place physically shown, it’s there where you expect it. It works as expected. You just don’t see it. Another thing that is a bit different is the top row of “keys”. The escape key, function keys, delete, etc. are not actually keys. Instead, they are capacitive touch keys. They seem to work just fine so far. To switch from the control keys to F1, F2, etc., just press and hold the fn key. Note this laptop has two USB-C ports and that’s it, no other ports. It uses one for charging. So, if you use wired peripherals, plan on using a docking station. I was surprised to see another reviewer say theirs was unstable. Granted I haven’t changed a lot of settings yet, but this one so far has been really stable. It handled the PassMark tests with no issues. I installed Office 365, my usual anti-virus software, my work VPN, Chrome and Thunderbird. For the past few days, I’ve used it as my main work laptop without any stability issues. It has good battery life, better than my other name brand 13-inch laptop with an OLED touchscreen. At 99% battery charge, this one shows 9 hours and 34 minutes estimated battery life. I used it pretty much all day yesterday and it still showed 40% remaining. So, I’m pretty sure it will get me through my next long haul flight. One issue I did encounter is not restricted to just this Dell laptop. It won’t install the drivers for my ancient business class printer. I ran into this with another brand of laptop that also has a Snapdragon processor. I managed to install PCL6 drivers and got it to use those with my trusty old printer. So, I can print, but I don’t have remote scanning or any of the other features my printer offers. In summary, this laptop is light and small enough to easily take with you. It’s got plenty of power for business applications and light gaming. It’s my new on the go laptop.

Small factor beast laptop aimed at AI.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.AI has taken the world by surprise, and it is becoming, or has become, an indispensable technology for a myriad of people around the globe. I am not a big fan of AI, but I acknowledge that it is something that is going to touch every aspect of our lives and we’ll need to live and deal with it; as a result, I have also become a (not so avid yet) AI user, at home and at work. Based on my experience and looking at others, AI could be thought of as a sort of personal assistant, an agent especially useful to assist in personalized learning and creative processes. With that in mind, I’d say the Dell XPS 13 CoPilot+ laptop is a powerful machine that could easily serve a wide variety of AI users, from students to professionals. It is a very fast machine with lots of memory, able to multitask without noticeable loss of performance, with a long-lasting battery and small factor for extra portability, a little powerful “beast” in a nutshell. Although it has several high points that could easily give this little beast a 5-star rating, there a few things that get in the way of fully enjoying it, at least before one gets used to those “little” nuisances. Moreover, those little nuisances could be interpreted as design flaws that won’t be liked by, I suspect, multiple users (of course that includes me). So, a 4-star rating is more reasonable. The main issue I see is with the feel of the top line set of keys hosted behind a glass panel which is different to the rest of the keyboard. The next one is the absence of a power button, meaning that the computer turns on whenever you open it, whether you like it or not. I expand on these later in the review. Even though I see this machine with a solid 4-star rating, I was initially reluctant about recommending it to friends or family, but after using it for several days, as a single laptop, and also connected to external Bluetooth keyboard and mouse, as well as external monitor, I think this is a decent machine to recommend to others, despite some of its flaws. - Pros: CoPilot+ PC, fast, light weight, small form factor, very long-lasting battery. - Cons: Glass top Key panel, mouse pad not very noticeable, no power button, two USB-C ports only. >> Setup << I assume more recent shipped machines will come already updated or with fewer updates, but during initial setup of the Dell XPS 13 CoPilot+ laptop I had received, the whole initial software/firmware update process took a very long time, several minutes, longer than what I would have expected. I even had time to go to the kitchen and brew some coffee, came back, and still waited a bit for the updates to finish downloading. After downloading, doing the actual update took even more time, since there were lots of firmware updates, which made me a little nervous. I really don’t feel comfortable when the BIOS needs to be updated, as anything going wrong could result in a bricked device. But despite the high “impact” of the updates, several indeed, I encountered no issues, all went smoothly! It just was a nail-biting long process (I might be exaggerating but BIOS tweaking always makes me nervous.) On the comic side, the day after doing the whole initial setup of the machine, another Windows update took place. I hope machines are being shipped at a more up-to-date status. For more information on the Dell website, including the device registration and available apps, there is a “My Dell” QR code that comes in the package, use it! >> CoPilot+ PC << The biggest “selling” point for the Dell XPS 13 is that it is presented as a CoPilot+ Laptop. Indeed, it is listed as a CoPilot+ PC on the Microsoft website. I went to the website to make sure whatever is advertised it is really so 😉. Nevertheless, I should have known better, since this machine boasts one of those new NPUs (Neural Processing Units) which are intended to speed up AI related tasks and it is this Processing Unit that seems to be what gives a machine its CoPilot+ qualification. So, I took a closer look at the NPU. Monitoring the NPU using the Windows Task Manager under the Performance option, it can be observed that there is NPU activity whenever a specific AI-abled application does some work. So, don’t expect the NPU to go into action if you use CoPilot or ChatGPT, as those seem to send the requests and get back the results to show to you outside your computer. I assume there’ll be some sort of App version or “local” version of those AI tools that will use some of the capabilities of the NPUs. For now, I can see that there are some number of applications that take advantage of the NPU, one of them is the Windows Photo App. In the Photo App, if you open a picture and choose to Edit it, you’ll get an AI option for “restyling” the image, which I tried to apply to some existing images as well as AI generated ones. I think I was expecting a little too much when using the AI restyle capability while editing pictures in the Photo App, as I got mixed results; well, more of the not so good results than the good ones. Something to note is that doing the restyling on images generated by CoPilot, next feeding them into the Photo App, and applying AI restyling, resulted in almost no change in the image. I think though, that with time these tools are going to become more powerful and would be able to get results closer to your liking. Regardless, I am impressed by what is available out there, in a mere couple of years so much advancement, truly mind blowing. >> ARM based PC << I’ve had experience with ARM based devices before, in fact one of my everyday work laptops is an ARM-based processor 64-bit OS based one. I know some of the drawbacks of the platform, with the main one being that not all x86 or amd64 compiled applications would run smoothly on this platform. There is ton of existing software out there, and some of them might not perform well in the “emulation” stage. This is something to take into account, especially if you have legacy applications that you do need to use. Perhaps in that is your case, it might make more sense to go for an X86 or AMD64 based CoPilot+ PC. >> Keyboard << Besides the NPU component, the other characteristic of these CoPilot+ PCs is the addition of one extra “CoPilot” key on the keyboard, which seems fine as it serves to highlight the fact that the CoPilot chat is accessible at the touch of a button. Now, there is a top line set of “keys”, which are not part of the actual keyboard, as they are displayed on what looks like a glass surface. The “keys” in that line include “prt sc”, “home”, “end”, “insert” and two heavily used ones, “esc” and “delete”. That glass panel also includes volume and keyboard backlit control, screen brightness and the function F keys, for what would be considered the first row or line of keys in a regular keyboard. It’s been several days, and I still find annoying to press on the glass for the “delete” operation. Of course, when I connect an external keyboard, things are smoother, but that is not the point, there should be “native” keyboard comfort. Having that different annoying style for some keys puts into question how extensively this device was tested with real customers. Some might say it is a little nuisance, but I know people that would flatly reject this design and for that reason decline buying one of these powerful machines. Perhaps I am just throwing a little tantrum here. The other “major” issue I find, is the lack of a power button. I don’t want this device to start whenever I open it, I want it to start whenever I press a button for that. Finally, the third major problem I see is that the mouse/track pad doesn’t have any visual delimiters of its boundaries. I am a frequent computer user, and I know where to perform left/right clicks, but I see other people that follow visual clues would get a little frustrated. Again, who was this tested against? >> More comments << A few more observations: - Graphics: I am pleased with the Graphics, colors, video, all looks nice. Something to note is that machine came with Dark Theme by default, and asking CoPilot itself about Dark Mode for OLED machines, it mentions that Dark Mode is better for OLED screens as less energy is used. I’ve been using Dark Mode for some time, and it looks like they are right, it is easier on my eyes (especially as I am behind the computer almost all day). - Connectivity: I’ve connected Bluetooth devices to the machine, a mouse and a keyboard, and so far so good. I have also connected other devices using the USB-C ports, high transfer rates (as expected.) Only two USB-C ports, all that is there to have. I will be buying a USB-C hub to connect this machine to monitors that only accept HDMI/DP, also to have USB-A/B connectivity. - Sound: no complaints, powerful sound for this little device. - Battery Life: Outstanding, even with multiple applications, at least 8 hours, mainly the benefits of an ARM-based device. - Charging Battery: fast charge using the provided USB-C charger, less than an hour from fully depleted battery. Very pleased with this. - Sound: incredible for this little guy, I must say.

The Future Is Here!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There are a lot of Snapdragon notebooks that have recently hit the market, and a lot of choices to be made. This XPS 13 specifically, and this configuration is absolutely phenomenal! The biggest thing to take note of is that this is, of course, an ARM processor which uses the ARM version of Windows. You must note this because if your workflow requires the use of an application that cannot be natively run on this or at least emulated by Windows, it may be a dealbreaker for you. That said, that only applies to a very small percentage of people, and for the rest, like myself, this machine is high tier. I want to start off by saying the display is insane. This is a tandem OLED panel and one of the first on the market like it. This means you get the clarity, brightness, and the darkness that OLED can provide without many of the drawbacks. This is essentially peak all that performance in a laptop as it can get brighter than 500 nits on SDR and even more so while using HDR, which is wild to see. The contrast this can achieve and the color reproduction is just off the charts. It's easily the best display I've ever seen, and the color reproduction is actually accurate to the point you can use this as a content creator without issue. Speaking of this, the Snapdragon X Elite chip in here has hardware-accelerated abilities with H.264 and H.265 formats as well as AV1, VP8, VP9, and several other MainConcept Codecs, making video editing and content creation with this machine a very real thing to the point I was extremely surprised. There is a new version of DaVinci Resolve I used with it as well as Vegas Pro 22, which are both ARM native versions that can take advantage of the NPU for AI workloads, which is huge. There is no ProRes hardware acceleration on this chip, but that is to be expected and is okay as I do not shoot in that codec anyway, but be aware of this if you do. On the graphics side of things, you wouldn’t expect to even run anything on this as far as games, but I can confirm that it doesn’t play WoW (World of Warcraft) in its native ARM version for the war within and all classic variants perfectly. You can even play at high settings if you change the render to 50% in scaling, but it’s very smooth, shockingly so, while maintaining a locked 60fps. The battery life… what can I even say here? This is the best battery life I have ever used or even seen on any Windows laptop in the history of time. For all the specs this thing is pushing, it is unbelievable how long this actually lasts. I can use this thing all day even at full brightness without having it plugged in. Even last year's model, in that situation, I would've had to plug it in by the three-hour mark. Absolutely phenomenal is what I can say. The speakers on this are very good for a 13-inch notebook; you can't really ask for better. There are a couple of things that I don't like about it. One of which is that there is no charging light anywhere. When I first plugged it in, I thought maybe my charger, which is 60 W by the way, wasn't getting power; however, there's just no light to tell you that it's charging, which is kind of strange. I have a love-hate relationship with the capacitive top row function keys. I think it's very futuristic what they've done; however, I don't like that there's no feedback, especially for the escape key, which took me a while to adapt to. Note that you can swap between the “Fn” functions and the F1, F2, etc., keys by hitting Fn, and you’ll see them change. And if you want to lock them to the opposing type, you just hit Fn+Esc. The coating on this machine in graphite, as they call it, is a beautiful color; however, it does attract a lot of fingerprints. I think if I had to choose again, I would probably go with the platinum to avoid this, though they do wipe right off with a cloth or your T-shirt. It just has that look about it. There are only two ports on this laptop overall, both of which are USB 4.0 and full function, meaning power delivery as well as DisplayPort, etc. So, you may run a dock off of this to expand your ports, but just note the USB 4.0 protocol being the limiting factor. That said, I wish it had at least three of these, as one is required for the charging already, so you have to get creative on the go if you must. That said, for me, though, I use almost all Bluetooth accessories, which this does beautifully with. I love the trackpad implementation on this; it is integrated into the deck below the keyboard, where you would expect it. However, there is no outline or anything as it is under Gorilla Glass and feels perfect. There is a slight learning curve here, but once you realize where the trackpad is and ends, there is no issue, and the haptic feedback feels perfect. Going along with the trackpad is the keyboard, which also feels very good, has great tactile feedback, and the keys, though looking strange, I have really come to enjoy having no gap between keys to the point it feels weird using other ones, lol. While I'm talking about the keyboard, can't forget the new Copilot button built right in to get you into the AI to do many tasks. As this is a Copilot + machine, there are a great many things built-in to Windows now that are absolutely awesome. You can have it produce pictures for you, graphs, do math, help you with your writing, pretty much anything you can think of, or you can ask it things as simple as what is the weather going to be like tomorrow around noon, which is just a super time saver. The My Dell app allows you to control your fan profile from quiet all the way up to performance. It will adjust voltage sent to your CPU and thus heat management for your needs, which is always awesome to have, especially in a place like class where you don’t want your fans to be taking off like a jet engine, lmao. (Note: these fans are still quiet even at max load and speed.) The fact that this machine is under 3 pounds and still made out of CNC aluminum and Gorilla Glass is absolutely insane to me. Folks, this is the future, and I can't wait to see where they bring it next, but for my day-to-day use, this is my new main computer. I can tell you that much, as it’s pretty much a jack of all trades and does everything so well!

Premium compact multi-tasking
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a larger Dell XPS 15 laptop which has been excellent, but I wanted something a bit lighter and smaller for travel. The overall performance of the XPS 13 has been very good, the 1TB of storage and 32GB of RAM are a huge advantage in such a compact computer. Although the battery life is less than I was expecting, I edit a lot of high-resolution video, and this computer handles it well. I have enjoyed using Copilot and the built-in AI support is a nice (for future proofing), but it is not polished or capable enough to count on yet. ---Pros--- 1. Multitasking is no problems thanks to the Snapdragon processor and 32GB of RAM. Even while rendering and exporting videos in the background, you can watch videos, have multiple websites open, and use copilot (AI) to answer questions with no stuttering/lag. 2. The 1TB SSD drive is quick and has plenty of space for apps and media, with minimal pre-installed software to take up space. 2. Easy to carry around, thanks to light weight and the compact form factor. 2. Build quality is excellent, and everything feels premium. The hinge and case feel solid. 3. The touch screen is excellent and makes images and videos pop. Color reproduction, clarity, and brightness are great. Other laptop screens and monitors I used to think were perfectly fine, now look washed out and fuzzy by comparison. 4. Convenient fingerprint and facial recognition (Windows Hello) login options. 5. Excellent speakers that have good volume and clarity (they lack deep bass, not surprising given the compact form factor, but do not distort even at full volume). 6. Presence detection turns the screen off when you walk away, saving battery life. 7. The function key bar is smart - it actually changes the key labels using LEDs. You can toggle between system short cuts and the old F1-F12 keys. This makes it really clear what each button function currently is, and the short keys are really convenient (microphone, volume, play/pause, screen brightness, keyboard backlight, screen share, print screen, home, end, insert, delete). 8. The seamless touch pad is great once you get used to it. It is very wide, comfortable to use, looks cool, and offers multi-gesture support (pinch to zoom, multi-finger scrolling, etc.). Combined with the touchscreen, it can handle casual use with no need for a mouse. 9. Back-lit keyboard with good sized keys that have decent travel/feel. ---Things to Consider--- 1. There are only 2 USB-C ports (one of which is in use when you are connected to the supplied charger). Transferring video from my GoPro to my external hard drive is a challenge if I also need to charge. Dell does not supply a USB-A or HDMI adapter, so I am eventually going to have to purchase a dedicated USB-C dock for this computer (it does work great with my wife's dock - even handling being connected to a large 49" curved monitor with no performance problems). 2. Battery life is significantly less than the multi-day or 24-hour plus specifications listed in a few places. Battery life is still decent considering the combo of light weight, bright screen, and processing power this computer has. My real world experience in mixed use (short video chats, typing emails, light video editing, browsing, watching videos, listening to music) has been that you get around 6-hours without trying and around 10-hours if you choose more conservative settings. Bring your charger if you are planning on more demanding task - when rendering long, full resolution HD videos in Adobe Premier, with the processor showing an average load of around 50%, estimated battery life dropped down to just a few hours. 3. I have not had any hardware compatibility issues (my newer Logitech Bluetooth mouse and wireless HP printer are working great), but the ARM based Snapdragon processor has more risk of driver compatibility issues than other processors (Intel and AMD). Snapdragon processors are powerful, but more common on phones. You might find some older or less mainstream apps don't function, are buggy, or have less options (especially if they need to modify computer settings). Some older devices also might not work because the manufacture did not provide an ARM compatible driver. 4. This is a solid computer, but not good for even casual gaming. Games might have compatibility issues with the Snapdragon processor and the built-in video processor (GPU) is extremely basic/limited.

most compact XPS yet, better battery life and cool
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.OLED display very good. Very compact and light, great for travel. Upgraded from Windows 11 Home to Pro, did require fresh install of Pro. Battery life is definitely longer than what equivalent i7 chip would be, and it runs MUCH cooler than my 2 other i7 Dell Notebooks. Have tested some x64 CAD/GIS installs, some require having the x64 .NET Desktop runtime installed (vs. ARM). Installs worked and run, with some performance tradeoffs due to emulation. Note: only storage (SSD) is upgradeable, memory is not upgradeable, and there are only 2 USB C ports. I have a multi-port USB C hub that has been useful. But those are all tradeoffs for the portability and size. Not the most powerful XPS, but longer battery life and cooler. May be better for AI however, have not tested yet.

The screen is also excellent. On paper it is a powerful and lightweight laptop. However, because it is ARM based and relatively new to the laptop world, it fails to boot for 5-10 minutes every morning, going to the Windows recovery screen, before finally booting into Windows. It gets a blue screen of death if it is put to sleep for over an hour, and in general crashes almost every day from minimal browser usage. Dell support is even worse, wasting two months of my time with support calls, emails, and "repairing" the laptop. They claimed my boot issue was a one-off issue, but asked me to pay $100 to receive software support. Even after reinstalling Windows the issue still remained. They attempted to repair the laptop by replacing the entire motherboard, but the issue still remained. Even after all of this, they claimed it was a one-off issue. I believe every laptop of this model has this issue and nobody should buy it until they issue a bios update with a fix. Dell re-assigned a new support agent to me who has missed calling me at appointment time the last two days in a row. After all of this headache, I'm giving up on getting any worthwhile support. While the laptop is still usable, it's a very poor user experience. I severly regret not returning it to Best Buy while I had the chance. My laptop came out of the box, brand new, failing to boot. Do not buy this laptop, and even better: stay away from Dell entirely. They do not care about their customers.

This is a stylish ultra portable that will make even the most steadfast iSheep peer over their white cup with the green logo. This version has been on the same design fora few itterations and many bemoan the touch sensitive top row but I like it as it makes the keyboard compact. the lattice keyboard is edge to edge, allowing for a comfortable typing experience in a small footprint. it has a beautiful OLED screen and all metal body. On the software side of things, everything i use works well with the ARM processor. I'm not a student so I can't say if it works with all the apps they require such as lock down broswers, ect but Steam, Epic, GOG games all work. The battery also last the whole day and I like the fact that the exhuast is not bottom firing, you can set it on the lap or bed without fear of overheating because you're blocking the vents. Overall, this is a great laptop and as a die hard thinkpad user, I'm surprised that a dell pulled me away.

Great Compact Computer

Not a fan of the touch delete button, too easy to make mistakes but I suppose I'll get used to it. I really like that the touch pad identifies fingers and not palms. I rest my palms below the keyboard and this feature reduces the "jumping cursor" I struggled with before. It's too soon to judge battery life. Seems all lap tops start out great then falter. Hopefully technology improves and isn't the case here.
