Very Messy DeLonghi True Brew Coffee Maker!

A leak every time you make a cup of coffee…and,a mess from the grounds! You almost need to open and wipe up the mess everyday! I calledDeLonghi for the second time today. I was finally told this has been a problem they are working on! $500…where does this leave those who have purchased it NOW? Do not believe the great reviews…does make good coffee, but it’s a mess and this company has got to fix this!

big no & big bad experience

I wanted to buy it from Best Buy because of the awesome total care coverage and I know these things can break with lots of moving parts. I bought online and drove 45 mins each way to pick up in store. Unboxed and discovered I had a previously used machine (a bean shot out for the first water cycle and there was residue on the brewing unit). Whoever packed it up did a nice job, kudos to them, but you can return it without lying FYI. Since it was used, I went ahead and gave it a spin. The coffee tasted ashy and bitter. Like diner coffee but I’m using tried and true A+ beans, right. The 3oz bold option was the only option didn’t pour down the sink. I thought maybe this is why they returned it, it’s a lemon machine- let me be an optimist and give it a fair shot because a large percentage of the reviews say it’s the bomb. SO I drove another 1.5 hours round trip to exchange... for another USED machine. I can’t make this up. This one was damaged and missing parts. Also wrapped up like it was brand new so this makes me think something is going on. I called Delonghi to make sure this wasn’t standard protocol and they said no. Anyway, round 2 machine still managed to turn my A+ beans into diner coffee. It doesn’t get hot enough and this thing is obviously not meant to be on my countertop. It’s like it doesn’t have enough brew time. It starts dispensing as a nice dark brown and 1/2 way through the 8 oz (strong) brew option it’s almost clear. It was not a pain to clean like a lot of reviews say. I didn’t have grinds or water everywhere so not sure if that’s operator error or what. If you decide you have to try it, order online, have it shipped and pull the machine apart prior to using it. Or just save ~$500 and don’t.

Great if you like mold

Finally kept the last one and it leaks everywhere and creates mold. Contacted the company about it since it’s in warranty and they told me to move the coffee maker to a less “humid” area and to let parts dry. How will any of this help prevent it from shooting wet grounds everywhere and leaking all over the counter? For 600 dollars we have a moldy paper weight that the company refuses to replace. I will be contacting BBB next.

Waste of money

After 4-6 cups you have to empty out the water and grinds compartments, it leaks coffee water all over, they sell it as stainless steel but the machine is 98% plastic, its big, noisy and the coffee is not very hot. I microwave the coffee almost every time. Honestly, Deloonghi should be embarrassed with the quality of this machine.

Seek another option to this product

From day 1 there was always some light flashing on the machine indicating some action needed to be taken to get a single cup of coffee. However, I chalked this up to a machine quirk but, enjoyed my coffee and continued to use this testy machine. Next the infuser mechanism got stuck and would have to be reset with multiple actions needed. Now this mechanism is stuck and the drip tray cannot be reinserted. I've tried ALL of the trouble shooting ideas - manufacturer to online videos - to no avail. I am past the return period to the stop. Delonghi would now like me to ship this heavy product back to them for possible repair. I spent almost $400 on this machine which has required almost daily action to get a single cup of coffee. I don't think it's worth getting a repair for it to be returned to have to face the same daily headaches. I DO NOT RECOMMEND PURCHASING THIS PRODUCT. Note: I typically do not write reviews but, this product makes me want to forewarn any potential buyers.

Not worth it —— at all

Since I bought it is it has left a messy puddle of wet grounds underneath it consistently. The low water indicator doesn’t work and the coffee comes out at a tepid 135 to 145° (coffee should be brewed at between 195 and 205°) Also, if you have an RO system or heavily filtered water in your house to long, he says that that is not good for the coffee maker and will cause it to malfunction, something that they should tell you before you buy it. Overall, this machine is not worth the money and I suggest you keep looking.

Do not purchase

After trying to make the 3rd cup of coffee, the unit inside that moves, seized up and the unit would no longer power on. We returned for a refund. After reading other reviews, I do not recommend this to anyone.

Brew at your own risk w/ terrible support too

Not the case! It brews a great cup of coffee but at such a cost. I have tried with 4 machines now. The machine makes a horrible mess on the counter, I have a natural marble kitchen counter and because this machine leaks coffee and grinds all over and under the machine my counter is forever stained and ruined. The machine breaks down and De'longhi is not willing to replace the machine they make you wait 6-10 weeks to ship it in for repair. Horrible customer service and I do not recommend this machine and my opinion is growing quickly not to support the Delonghi brand either.

Such a disappointment

The machine is messy and has to be cleaned every day. My machine is tripping the breaker when it starts the brew cycle. The first one I purchased did the same thing. The warranty process takes weeks if you use Delonghi. AVOID this product!!

Would not purchase

I bought it prior to moving so I didn't open it until well after I moved. For the price I expected the coffee to be fantastic, but it is not. You have to empty the water and used coffee inside the machine fairly often and it's very messy inside. Once you put the beans in the top there is no way to get them out if you want to change your brew like do a decaf later in the day unless you turn the machine over. It gives you a low bean warning when it's still pretty full so if you want to change beans your first few brews will be mixed. I tried all three heat settings and I would rate them as cool, warm, and barely hot so if you use milk this machine is not for you. It just does not extract the flavor I expected. I would have returned it but I opened it past the return by date. Guess I'm out a decent amount of money because the coffee it makes is not good.

DO NOT BUY IT DOES NOT WORK AS IT SHOULD

It simply does not grind the beans as it's intended. They constantly get stuck regardless of brand. The coffee maker takes forever to turn on and get going to make a cup of coffee. We tried making it work by doing a corse grind first, still doesn't work as it should. What's the point of this if I have to grind fully the offee, put it in the shute, compared to simply just getting a kcup and going for it each time. I would not buy this again, and best buy has a 15 day return policy, so you for sure won't be able to return yours if you take a chance

Lots of work for a bitter cup of coffee

I wanted a brewer that would grind the beans and brew a cup at a time. This machine does that but the care and feeding of this beast hardly makes it worthwhile. It constantly needs the reservoir filled, the grounds and overflow emptied, or more beans. The metering for cup size either overflows a normal cup or half fills a larger cup. The brew itself is the bitterest coffee I have drunk outside of a rundown 7-11. Do yourself a favor and avoid this overpriced piece of junk.

If you like a mess free cup of coffee run!!

If you are using pre-grounded coffee you might as well just go to Starbucks. I just spent the last hour of my first morning with it cleaning all the coffee grounds. This is the messiest machine I have ever used. I packed it right back in the box afterwards and it will be returned. Oh, and the best part is that I did not even get a cup of coffee it never brewed with the mess. I am heading to Starbucks now.

Grinder has problems

Messy amd poorly designed

A good idea, bad execution?

It didn't recognize the water tank and then leaked all over the counter top. DeLonghi took more than 5 days to get back to me. I returned the coffee maker as there was not another one close enough for exchange.

Had high hopes.

Shame on me for not knowing Best Buy has a 14 day return policy, learned this the hard way. DeLonghi customer service is being difficult as well. Looks like I will be stuck with a $500 paperweight. Plus side, my counter in my office has never been cleaner.

Don't buy, save your money
