Absolutely amazing! I had an older 100x/channel Onlyo 2 channel receiver that this has taken the place of, and I couldn’t be more happy. My speakers sound warmer, livelier, and more dynamic than ever. I just wish I would have upgraded sooner. Great work Denon! If you’re looking for a 2 channel receiver that makes your music sound sing, and your movies rip, look no further.

Boy, I love my new receiver! It is driving two legacy ADS 1290/2s and they never sounded so good. It is replacing a 30 year old Sony receiver and has about the same power rating. But the Denon is driving my four woofers with greater power and depth. I tried out the system with and without a subwoofer and decided it sounded just fine without the subwoofer. I never thought an amp would make much difference in the sound but the Denon really makes my 40 year old speakers shine. I like the HEOS app on my phone but also plugged a Chromecast Audio into the Denon so that I can control it with my laptop when the phone is not around. I am fortunate to have my Denon near a satellite router and used a wired ethernet connection. Entering my WiFi password was going to take some time and I'm glad I could skip it. The Denon has a USB input on the front panel. I got a low profile 256GB flash drive and filled it with FLAC files. I use this when my network gets flakey and drops out. (I wish I knew why). The remote control is easy to use. The front panel display is easy to read. I read reviews that said the Denon runs hot. Mine is not hot. Just fine.

Been wanting a HDMI compatible amp for quite a while. Without getting into four figure pricing. It was between this and an Onkyo. After reading many reviews and talking with some mid-fi folks, Denon won. Love the flexibility of inputs... HDMI, RCA, PHONO STAGE. I'm not a home theater guy, but do watch many movies through this thing and very good sound. Brings my vinyl to life (via a Rane mixer) and even made me resurrect my cds. Great unit, no noticeable sound issues / distortion. Drives some old Pinnacle speakers just fine. Yes, I said Pinnacle.

I cam from a regular amp that had no features. This one is amazing, so many features. Dont know how to use it yet but I will. I love it! I hall the Polk xt20’s paired with this on stands and its all perfect. I might add the mxt12 sub from Polk later. My Polk xt20’s are new as well and those are amazing too!

I needed a modern stereo receiver with strong amplifiers. This works great. Relatively easy set up. Good flat sound response. Only negatives are Bluetooth range is not very far and playing CDs has some odd video/shutoff issue about 3-4 songs into the ssssion.

Connecting via Spotify is a breeze and so is Heos. The speakers sound amazing hooked up to this thing, and the fact that it gets radio and can take in a record player made it a great purchase for us. The Spotify connection can have trouble connecting the first time, so that's a bit annoying but not bad at all. And the Heos app could be set up better but that's a comment for the app. This thing pipes out great music, and that's why I bought it.

I love the simple setup and connection to my tv. It has a lot of power for my tower speakers. I have had my tower speakers since 2006, and i have had an rca, an older denon, and a yamaha receiver powering them. This new denon stereo receiver makes my old Axiom Audio tower speakers sound better than ever. I love that i can control the receiver's power (on and off) and volume with my tv remote. Just plug in an hdmi cable from the tv to the receiver (arc) for simple setup and control. No regrets. I love it.

If you want to hear great sound from all your devices including your tv, this is the one to buy. But note: IT IS NOT a full surround sound multichannel receiver, but will play great tv sound & music from ALL your devices, both legacy, analog, turntable along with getting internet music stations through wifi & blue tooth. TV broadcasts sound awesome broadcasting theatre quality stereo through 4 speakers, and you can add a subwoofer (but not a center channel speaker). The installation & general set-up was not too difficult using the online setup assistant on my tv, but I did need some help from the Geek Squad tech setting up the wifi programming to get online music stations. It still is way much easier to set up a network receiver like this one vs. setting up an AV receiver (complicated!) that you want to use primarily for surround sound from your tv - if you decide to go that route, I would strongly recommend setting up your installation from Best Buy at the time of purchase.

This is one of only a few 2 channel amps with HDMI inputs and ARC support for those of us who don't want a soundbar or have the space to setup a surround system. I got one of these for Christmas to replace a setup I had cobbled together with a 2 channel integrated amp and an HDMI ARC audio extractor powering a pair of Elac UniFi UB5's. The Elacs are rated at 4 ohms and I was worried that this amp wouldn't have the power to push them, but all the reviews say it will. This amp can power them but only just and there's a significant degradation to the sound quality. All the bottom end just disappeared. You could still get decent volume but the bass was just gone. This receiver just clearly doesn't have enough power to push a 4 ohm load very well. Build quality is decent. Although I was a little surprised to find only a 2 prong power plug instead of the usual 3 prong grounded IEC. On screen display is terrible. It's like they pulled the UI straight out of a 1987 VCR. It works though, and once you have it set up you can forget about it. AVR remote app: has all the function of the on screen set up menu. It found my receiver, paired up instantly and started working without issue. That's all you can ask. HEOS app is functional and gets the job done. ARC and HDMI CEC: I connected to my LG UHDTV via the HDMI ARC input on the TV and the Monitor ARC out on the receiver. It worked initially but then suddenly stopped. After going through all of the setup menus and ensuring that ARC was selected and HDMI CEC was turned on on both devices I could not get the audio return channel to work. Ultimately, I powered down both completely and unplugged them, plugged them back in and turned them on and it's been working fine ever since. That initial handshake between devices seems to make a huge difference. I don't fault LG or Denon for this but include this in my review in case anyone has similar problems setting up HDMI CEC and ARC functionality. I connected a pair of Sony SS-CS5's down that I had in another room just to verify my suspicions about the 4ohm load from the Elacs being too much for the power section of this receiver. The Sony's sounded much better than the Elacs. Not because they're a better sounding speaker in general but because the 6 ohm nominal impedance of the Sony's worked better with this amp. The Sony's sounded like they've sounded in a number of setups I have used them for. Sound quality with impedance loads the amp is comfortable with is competent. Certainly good enough as a soundbar replacement. Soundstage and imaging were very good. Detail is okay. Volume is only okay. The Sony's are rated at 87dB but you still have to turn this amp up pretty high to get a good amount of volume. As other reviewers have said, I think the 100W rating at 8ohms is a little optimistic. The good outweighs the bad with this receiver. There's a lot to like. To get the most out of this setup though you'll want 6 ohm or higher speakers with higher sensitivity. I'll definitely be keeping it if only because of the HEOS functionality and HDMI CEC allowing me to control everything I need to with just my TV remote. All that said, I'd pay the extra money for this same receiver with a 2 channel power section as powerful as my old Denon 3805 Receiver. That has 150 honest watts and can push 4 ohms easily, but it pre-dates HDMI.

Good Audio/Video Receiver when you don’t need theater surround sound. I use to with a Russound Speaker Block to power 6 sets of stereo speakers in six rooms. Also connected Apple TV, LG Blu-ray, Turntable/Phono and HDMI to a splitter to operate two LG TVs on opposite sides of a two-sided fireplace. Happy with the Receiver, would like to have a bit more power, but it’s is good enough for my needs.

If you have a space too small for a normal setup, this stereo receiver is not a bad solution, though not a great one either. Bad psrt is that you can't cast video to it. I ended up running an HDMI cable from my laptop since it also wouldnt accept the optical audio output of my LG TV even though it says it should. Has decent sound though my B&W 802 speakers.

Perfect! I wanted a stereo amplifier for audio, not for home theater. So why pay for seven amplifiers when only two are needed? Many receivers no longer have phono inputs for turntables, this one does. The app,HEOS, works well to make for easy connection with internet audio. So you get great audio from different sources. If you aren’t interested in surround sound, this is an excellent choice
