I have 3 Siberian Huskies, so there's a LOT of dog hair around my house. The Dyson is the best vacuum I've ever found for getting rid of it. The furniture attachment does a great job of pulling the hair out of my sofa. The hose reaches all the way up the stairs. Sometimes the dog hair gets tangled up in the brush, and we need to yank it out. But overall, it's fantastic!

I bought this vacuum after Christmas. I had been debating on whether or not to buy such an expensive vacuum. I have a shetland sheepdog that loves to shed everywhere and wanted a vacuum to help pick up all of his hair. This vacuum does the job and so much more! It is so easy to use and makes my carpets feel like new! It vacuums tile and picks up everything on the floor! I love the container and how easy it is to empty. My other vacuums I had to use my hands to get all of the stuff out, but this contianer is so easy and you don't have to get your hands dirty! The hose is a little hard to learn to use, but once you get the hang of it, it works great! I would recommend this vacuum to anyone who has pets.

This thing works wonders at picking up fur from our two dogs. The attachments are excellent and a wide variety of them from small ones that get into corners and big ones that help getting under beds and such. When we first got it my wife and I both wanted to clean the house with it and when we did it made our carpet look better than ever. Easy to empty waste and also easy to remove parts to get a jams and clogs. The only problem I have with it is that it make a horrendous noise when I vacuum certain types of floor mats that have a more fuzzy exterior to them. It doesnt damage the machine or the mat but it very loud and painful to hear. But that is no reason, in my opinion, to not get one of these.

Great vacuum... probably one of the best that I have ever owned. Great power and versatility. I have had this vacuum for approx 2 + years now and have put it through quite a bit of abuse. I am in need of ordering some new parts for it due to wear and tear. (Canister no longer stays shut when removed, & extension hose split) This could have been due to abuse though and in no way would prevent me from buying another Dyson. PROS: Suction, long extension hose, attachments, easy to clean CONS: None

When our vacuum unexpectedly broke right before I moved out of our apartment, my girlfriend said" Hey I'll borrow my parents." It happened to be the Dyson Animal. I was AMAZED at how effortlessly it picked up cat litter, hair, beach sand and anything else in its path without clogging. I was more amazed at how much it picked up compared to what I got with my other vacuum. The attachments are great also because you don't have to store them seperatly in a closet they were right there on the machine. The crevise tool was great around the baseboards also, and again I never knew that my vacuum was missing so much,especially since it had only been a week since I'd vacuumed. After the move I bought the animal ball and I now will come home and vacuum daily sometimes just to see how much hair and dirt is left from the day before, which is now usually half of what it was with the old vacuum. I have friends who have dysons too and do the same thing because they now realize how much you can track in (even if you leave shoes at the door and don't have animals) over a weeks time.

This vacuum works amazingly well for picking up hair and it is incredible (and sometimes scary) to see how much stuff it picks up. A must-have for pet owners and people with vacuum-clogging hair as well. The hose is not designed that well though and is difficult to use in small areas.

I bought my Dyson in 2003. I noticed with all my previous vacuums; they all seemed to lose suction within the first six months of use. I have three kids and at one time two cats. My Dyson hasn't lost suction yet. I did let a friend borrow my vacuum for a day, and they have a long hair dog. The hair burnt out the clutch on the Dyson because the brush wasn't cleaned out. I called customer service, and they had me take it to the nearest UPS Ground Store. The shipping both ways, and service to the Dyson was taken care of by the company. I had it back in less than two weeks cleaned and as good as new. Since then I haven't had any problems, and it works as well as the first day that I bought it. I would recommend this vacuum to anyone. It is well worth every penney.

This vaccum is great for anybody that has animals. I have used this almost everyday for the past year and still don't have a complaint. I'am very hard on vacuums so for this vaccum to still be going strong is amazing! I do wish the hose was a little bit easy to use though.

Bought this after we got a cat. Literally the biggest waste of money ever. The machine is hard to use and often runs over simple items on wood floors without picking it up. Not sure what "never loses suction" means. Further the wand is designed such that you can't use it around corners because the wand is literally a part of the main machine's handle so it doesn't flex. "Slim design" but useless. Forget cleaning out your car. When you pull out the wand to use it, it pulls the main machine over on you. I contacted Dyson shortly after I bought the machine to raise issues about the design. The one and only response is "we make the best machines ever". TOTAL waste of money. My 15 year old Hoover puts this machine to shame. If you want to impress your maid, buy it. But if you intend to clean yourself, no question that you will be disappointed.

I've had this item for 3 years and love it. I am an animal lover and pet hair accumulates daily. The Dyson Animal picks up hair that my old vacuum missed. The ease in emptying the canister directly into the garbage and maintainance of the vacuum is simple. Due to allergies, I only have a few area rugs, the Dyson vacuums them like new. I highly recommend it to everyone.

OK, let me preface this by saying that we have two kids and two shedding dogs. That said, this vacuum works pretty well and I would be happy with it, if it were in the bissell price range, but it is not! I paid the extra money to get the "animal" to keep up with my four "animals" It clogs very fast, and I find myself emptying it often to keep suction. I bring it in to be blown out about four times a year by the service people at BBY. Good thing I have the PSP!!! Now, no other vacuum for less could keep up with us either, but this one is not worth the extra money I paid. Dyson seems like a lot of hype for "power users" looking to really clean the house! Buyer beware...

I bought this vacuum 3 years ago because I have 3 dogs and what better product to purchase but the "ANIMAL" right? Wrong! Dont get me wrong, it works OK but not $500.00 worth. I would say it is an average machine. I almost always have to sweep over the same spot several times for it to pick up dirt on either carpet or tile. So far 3 things have broken also - my hose cracked, and the bottom trap door stopped staying closed (they sent another canister free of charge), and now the trigger that unlatches the bottom trap door has broken (no more free stuff). Bottom line save your money.

It does suck up the dog hair, pretty easy to clean out clogs, the biggest down side is using the hose, trying to do edges and corners are hard with the way the hose is designed.

I bought my Dyson DC14 Animal Vacuum cleaner this spring (07). I had been looking at them for months. My only hesitation was the price. I finally took the plunge and bought this model because we have a yellow lab that sheds year round. I had just vacuumed the living room carpet the day before I bought the Dyson. When I got home and set the Dyson up I vacuumed the living room again. I was speechless when I saw just how much dirt and fur my old vacuum was not picking up. I didn't empty the canister on the Dyson until my husband and son came home to show them the "proof" of just how well the Dyson works! The ads for the Dyson are truly accurate. The Dyson totally put together is much lighter than the old bagged vacuum I had. This was important to me as we live in a tri-level home with two flights of stairs. The Dyson works just as well on my laminate floors as it does on the carpet. I love having all of the tools "on board" the Dyson. I would recommend the Dyson to anyone! It is worth every penny I spent on it!!

Okay, I've had my Dyson Animal for over 2 years now. I purchased it because 5 cats own me, and I needed to make sure my carpet didn't look like it! As my cats don't really get on the furniture, I didn't need it for this, But it works great getting hair off of curtains as well. I saw this Dyson advertised on t.v. and I thought that it would do the trick for me, so into my Best Buy I went and purchased it. It was for my birthday, yes, I know, you aren't supposed to ask for appliances for your birthday, but I wanted it SOOO bad. It was worth every dime, I didn't get it on sale, I have lent it to my son, my family and my neighbor and everyone loves it. My neighbor wanted one herself and could afford it, but wound up with a lesser brand, lesser price, lesser value, and she will replace that vacuum long before I have to replace my Dyson. She settled to save money, but her vacuum doesn't do the trick like the Dyson. Long story short I have never had a problem with it, I use it all of the time, I love the power it has and I frankly just couldn't live without it. I am a firm believer that you get what you pay for and some may think this vacuum is too pricey, but it is well worth the cost and is so easy to empty, to clean, to maintain. Every single curve has a way of opening so you can get a blockage out if you needed to. I have never had to. This was my best birthday present ever!!!

$500 for a vacuum? I never thought I'd see the day, but I am very pleasantly surprised. This vac is truly better. James Dyson is a genius, and although I know there are lots of people who will never know how good this thing is because of the money - take a leap of faith on this...it's worth it.

Overall, this is a great vacuum. After cleaning carpet wth it, the carpet actually feels different as if the vacuum even fluffed it up. It picks up great, and the onboard attachments are really useful.

When my dyson is working, it's a joy to use. However, it's had numerous repairs. My suggestion for repairs, go with Dyson and NOT Best Buy. They had the machince for close to a month, got it back and had to send off to Dyson which only took about a week. Also, I clean my machine once a week using an air compressor. If I didn't have that, I don't know how I would ever get the accumulation of dog hair out of the cyclone. Overall I'm pretty pleased with it.

Overall it is an excellent vacuum. There are 4 people in my family that have bought them and we all love Dyson.
